Traumatized by events of her past, Charlotte Bennett is not a fan of strangers. When she sees a man touching her daughter at the park, she reacts without listening. It’s only later when her daughter is rushed to the hospital that she realizes how wrong she had been.
Doctor Wesley Young only wanted to help the tender-aged girl he witnessed fall, but when her mother attacks him at the park, he’s left stunned. When the little girl arrives later in the emergency department, he comes face to face with the mother makes more of an impression on him than the cut she left on his face.
Things heat up quick when Marisol is no longer his patient, but when things from the past are revealed, Wes isn’t sure that Charlotte is the woman for him. Can Charlotte find a way to explain it all so that Wes will accept both her and her daughter before it’s too late?

Ms. Eaton has such a gift in writing her stories. She can write love stories, intriguing police stories and even werewolf stories that you can’t put down. This new series had me so intrigued with the story, I couldn’t put it down. Charlotte is such a strong woman raising a five year old daughter by herself. She had a couple traumatic experiences in her past that make her leery of strangers. I can understand why and my heart went out to her. I was so glad she has a wonderful older woman to watch little Marisol as well as her best friend who will do anything for her. I was so sad for the circumstances of how Charlotte met Dr. Wesley Young, but so happy with the outcome. Wes is a pediatrician and loves children. He has such a gift with all children. I loved his large family and how close they are all. Marisol is such a sweetheart she had me smiling so many times throughout the book. This is an excellent book that I strongly encourage you to read. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
I absolutely loved this story! A well written heartfelt story that will definitely pull on your heartstrings and lead you on an emotional journey. From trauma to trust and love, read on as we follow these relatable characters on their path of discovery and hope that they get their HEA. I cannot wait to read more from this series!
A cute, fast paced story. Charlotte is a single mother of an adorable girl. Wesley is a caring pediatrician looking for the right woman to start a family with. Wesley's reactions to her "secrets" are over-the-top for the single date they've been on. The attraction is there, but they barely know each other and he is immediately hyper-critical of her supposed behaviors. She has given him no reason to react as he does.
I thought it had potential and started out with Wesley being a decent sort (doctor with a hero complex) but where he ended up with what Charlotte had gone through didn’t sit right with me.
This is a great story about overcoming adversity and Wesley is just the right match for Charlotte although the story moved a little too quickly for me.
Wesley Loving a Young, Book 1 By: Stacy Eaton Narrated by: Jan McNamara
Stacy Eaton became one of my favorite authors, she has a unique writing style and her stories are original with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. This book Charlotte Bennett and Doctor Wesley Young’s story, Charlotte is a single mom of a five-year-old daughter, Marisol, and Wesley is a doctor in the local hospital. Charlotte misinterprets a scene and jumps to conclusions about Wesley. She later learns of her mistake and gets the chance to apologize when she sees Wesley in the hospital. Wesley is looking for a special someone to settle down and have a family with. He feels an instant connection to Charlotte and appreciates her fierce protectiveness of her daughter. Charlotte has her reasons for being overly protective, she has been through a lot and wishes she could forget the terrible things she endured, but she learned to get past them, she still deals with her own inner demons and is raising her daughter the best way possible. Wesley recognizes some of her triggers and is understanding at first but when her past comes back to haunt her he is the one who jumps to the wrong conclusion and makes the biggest mistake of his life. I adored the Logan family, Marisol was adorable too, I was a fan of Wesley, but his jumping to that conclusion annoyed me, thankfully he redeems himself in the end. The story is is told is alternating point of view and is nicely plotted with plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions and romance. Stacy Eaton, thank you for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 I listened to the audiobook edition, this is my first time listening to Jan McNamara and I see she is a fairly new narrator, she did a nice job bringing these characters to life, humanizing them with their emotions. I was not a fan of the way she performed the character voices, I am not sure if it was artist choice or not, but she did not give each character their own distinct voice, so it was hard to tell who was who. A saving grace with this book is the chapters are told in alternating point of views, but her voice for the two lead characters were basically the same, so unless you hear a pronoun you need to figure out whose chapter it is, and having to think about it takes your head out of the story. She is easy to listen to and sets the perfect tone for the story, hopefully in time, she will improve on her character voices, especially when covering the male roles. I am looking forward to hear he grow as a narrator.
What a joy to read, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very well written. A book to curl up in front of the fire with.
Charlotte was a single parent and overly protective of her daughter, Marisol. Charlotte was at the playground with her friend Jersey and her son, when her coffee was spilt down her shirt. She asked Jersey to watch Marisol while she went to see if she had a spare shirt in her car as she was going straight to work after she had dropped Marisol with her minder. She was so paranoid she kept looking back so that she could see her, everything was fine until she was walking back to the playground and couldn't see her. She went into panic mode and ran for the playground to see a man standing with Marisol. She went into Lioness mode and pushed the man away from her screaming at him. He actually was a doctor out for a run and seen Marisol fall from a great height and bang her head. He was just checking her head when Charlotte pounced. Later that day at the minders Marisol had fallen asleep and couldn't be woken so was rushed to hospital where Dr Wesley Young was dealing with her as Charlotte arrived. She was embarrassed as he was the man she had attacked that morning but her main concern was Marisol. The attraction between Charlotte and Wes started here but she hadn't dated for years.
She had two hidden bad experiences in her past which made her the way she was. How could this end in a happy ever after, she was damaged goods. Wes was not one to give up, but then Charlotte's past caught up with her. Even Wes couldn't handle so much baggage. What will happen between them???
Wesley Loving a Young, Book 1 By: Stacy Eaton Narrated by: Jan McNamara
Stacy Eaton pulls me into a story and keeps me riveted with everything she writes. This is a new series and I love this first installment. Charlotte is very protective of her daughter, so when Wesley goes to check on her after a fall off the monkey bars, she waves him off. Not the best first meeting, They do encounter each other again, and there is an undeniable pull between them. Charlotte comes with a lot of baggage, and Wesley is willing to help her sort through it. Charlotte is not completely forthcoming, so when her past meets her present there is a huge miscommunication. How will it all play out? It took me a while to warm up to these characters, but once I did it was smooth sailing. Charlotte is definitely a defensive person, but with her past it is easy to understand. Wesley is sweet, but jumps to conclusions way to easily for me! This is a great story, laced with relevant issues and a budding romance that is impossible not to fall for. A great start to this new series.
Jan McNamara is a new narrator to me, and I love her voice. It's easy on the ears and full of the emotions needed for this story. I did wish she distinguished between her characters more. At times it was hard to know who was speaking as it all sounded like the same voice. I will be watching for more from her, as I know she will bloom and be wonderful.
This book introduces us not only ER Doctor, Wesley Young, but also his family. Individuals that are sure to have a story in the future. Wesley is very dedicated to his work and loves kids. On a morning run by the local park , he sees a little girl fall from the monkey bars and immediately goes to her aid. Her mom, Charlotte Bennett, at first distressed when she can’t find her daughter, becomes a mama bear when she sees a man touching her daughter. She goes on the offensive by assaulting him and dragging her daughter, Marisol, away. Not knowing that Wesley is in fact a concerned doctor and that she would meet him again under dire circumstances. As the story continues, we learn about Charlotte’s traumatic past. One filled with circumstances no child or woman wants to ever experience. But it’s also a past she’s keeping a secret from everyone and a secret that as the relationship develops between Wes and Charlotte, could cause it to end. Aside from the plot, this story is about abuses and traumas that some individuals sadly experience in their lives and how they affect their present and possibly their future. It’s also a story about family, hope, new beginnings and love. A story that will leave you wanting to get to know the rest of the members of the Young family. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
What a great way to start a new series. This is the story of Charlotte and Wesley. Charlotte has had a very rough life growing up – kidnapped at 7 and then raped in college. She does not trust strangers or men at all. She is working at a deli to pur herself through classes and to raise her little girl. Wesley is the middle child of 6. He grew up in a loving home and family is very important to him and his siblings. Wesley is a pediatric doctor at the local hospital.
The way Charlotte and Wesley meet the first time is not what I saw coming, but once they meet for the second time, Wesley is attracted to Charlotte and he is not sure why. Wesley finds himself not acting in a professional manner and vows to stay away until Charlotte’s daughter Marisol is no longer his patient. Charlotte feels strange around Wesley – she feels safer when she’s around him and she usually doesn’t trust strangers. She also feels an attraction to Wesley and takes a chance. There was a point I wanted to smack Wesley upside the head because he didn’t want to listen, and that is not what I expected from him!
Great story, wonderful characters. This story is full of drama, passion, trust, family and of course a sweet, happily ever after. I cannot wait to read the next story in this series. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy through ARC’s for an honest review.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Wesley & Charlotte: triggers: sexual assault, kidnapping, PTSD. Concept is good. Writing is not. Narrator is terrible. She didn't even try to change her voice for the male characters so everyone sounds the same. At first Charlotte comes off like a psychotic "Karen" then she somewhat redeems herself. Then later on the book, Wesley basically accused Charlotte of being a whore for something he"assumed" happened in her past. WTAF... her characters personality traits seem to flip flop with every word written. The book is also extremely repetitive. There were times I thought the audiobook was jumping back and repeating the last 10 minutes, until I backed up and re-listened. 🤦🏾♀️. I don't have a problem with telling the story from both pov's but it's not necessary to repeat the conversation literally on the next chapter. This is the second book I'm reading from this author and I'm not impressed. At all. Also the romance is very dry. Like Sahara desert 🏜️ dry. I will not be finishing the other ARC's for this author. I would rather watch paint dry.
Jumping to conclusions both Dr Wes and Charlotte make assumptions that almost cost them the best gift life could offer them. Seeing Wes with her daughter makes Charlotte furious and brings forth an overreaction she is not proud of. Having to depend on the good doctor when the injury her daughter Marisol suffers is more serious than first suspected, Charlotte realises just how wrong she has been. However, as the attraction between Wes and Charlotte grows, he comes to a point where he wonders whether he has bitten off more than he could chew. This novel is tragic in many ways, but as Wes and Charlotte finally come to a point of being able to talk, the past becomes just that - the past. This story is reasonably well written with a good plot. It is a standalone and comes to a successful conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is a lovely, simple story -Suitable teen romance. Wes is a doctor & Charlotte single mother to Marisol. Charlotte has severe trust issues from 2 major incidents in her life. Marisol falls from high playground equipment hitting her head and Wes sees it - whilst checking to see if she is OK, Charlotte, not present when it happened, attacks him. When the child has too go to hospital Wes is there to treat her; second meeting which eventually leads to a relationship developing. Not all plain sailing with issues to work through, but it turns out well in the end. This story moves quickly from one thing to another and focuses on sweet rather than sexy.

Wow, what an amazing story with compassion, suspense, tenderness and understanding. Charlotte had a tough life growing up, she was kidnapped at the age of 7, raped in college and left alone and then pregnant. She has raised her daughter by herself and when she sees a strange man crouched down and talking to her child on the playground, she goes all “mama bear” and knocks the man off his feet. Only later after Marisol has a reaction from falling off the high apparatus at the park and wouldn’t wake up, she was rushed to the ER and the doctor on call was none other then the man in the park. Great storyline and wonderful characters that were believable and lovable.

Wesley is the first book in the Loving A Young series. I loved Wes and Charlotte's story. This book hits you in the feels. It's steamy and emotional. Wes is a pediatric trauma doctor and comes from a large family. He hopes to one day find someone to settle down with and have a large family of his own. He's one the middle children in his family and when he falls, he falls hard. Charlotte has a lot of trauma in her past that makes trusting difficult, but Wes makes her feel safe. Will she trust him with her secrets?

I did not like the way the book was narrated at all. All the voices sound alike, so listening was not enjoyable.
The story itself was good. Even though it deals with sensitive issues like kidnapping and sexual assault, it's skillfully written ,so there's no graphic expectation. Some people may still get triggered by it. Overall, it's a good story. It shows how easily someone can make the wrong assumptions without asking for explanations based on their past experiences.
What you've learned from the past definitely makes a difference in how you react to situations in the future.
Charlotte has been thru a lot. Fuck Wes for assuming the worst from her, and not hearing the real story. Fuck Brad for pressuring her to tell him the whole story because “his brother was hurting, and he wanted to help” and then has the audacity to ask “is that the truth” “why didn’t you tell Wes from the beginning “ It’s something hard to talk about especially if you’ve known the man a week. It just got worse after this conversation.
This is why women don’t speak up.
And fuck this author for writing this. As a woman shame on you!
Fuck them both! Thinking she was promiscuous when she was sexually assaulted.
Wesley is trying to help Marisol, the daughter of Charlotte, after a fall at the park. Charlotte thinks Marisol is being attacked. She learns the truth of who Wesley is and when he is no longer their doctor they start a relationship. This is the first book in the series and it is wonderful. The writing is good and the story was very entertaining and I was hooked and had to find out what happens next. The characters are wonderful and realistic. Great story.

Charlotte is a single mom with a tragic past but her love for her daughter, Marisol, is stellar. Wesley is a doctor with a blasé life. His chance meeting with Marisol changes that. I found that Charlotte presented a vest for life in spite of her tragedies while Wesley seemed more than willing to give up in a heartbeat. Overall its an intriguing story with a heartwarming ending.
Charlotte is a single mom, with an adorable daughter, who suffered two horrible incidents in her life. Wesley is a pediatric trauma doctor in the ED. The two meet when he witnesses Marisol falling off the jungle gym. Their first meeting is rough but they are drawn to each other. This is a love at first sight story with a quick HEA. There is some drama and a huge misunderstanding. The story flows well. This is an honest voluntary review.
Wesley is the first book in Stacy Eaton’s Loving a Young series and not what I expected as I continued reading. Overall, I liked the concept, and the ending was super sweet, but there were moments throughout the storyline that I waited for things to happen, that never transpired. For me this story had too many holes and I’m not sure if I’ll read book two.

This is the 3rd book I've read written by Stacy Eaton; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the 1st book of the Loving a Young Series; Charlotte was traumatized in the past so when she sees Wesley touching her daughter she reacts before she realizes whats going on. Later when she at the hospital with Marisol, Wesley is the doctor on staff.

Great start to the series. It goes to show never dismiss and injury especially a head injury. Wesley meets Charlotte in an unexpected way. When Marisol falls off the monkey bars, Wesley, who is a pediatrian in the ER, he goes to check on her. Charlotte has been through alot before Marisol came along and she doesn't trust men easily. Heartache, sorrow, and love of a child is expressive in this book. HEA.
I loved the narration of Jan McNamara, who brings out the emotions of our characters. Perfect.
Charlotte became a strong woman raising a five year old daughter Marisol by herself. Due to traumatic experiences. she is unsure strangers. Wes is a paediatrician and loves children and comes from a large family.
Charlotte must over come her past and learn to trust. Wes is great character and has great patience.
I enjoyed the story of Wesley and Charlotte, and will continue this series. There were definitely things about the book that I struggled with, hence the 3 stars. The insta-love vibes, the way Wes reacted to information he learned by ease dropping, and how quickly the drama was resolved all felt off to me. The premise of the book was good, and I felt so much emotion in the story, I just wish the timeline would have matched.
Charlotte has been through a lot in her life and she distrust strangers. When her precious five years old daughter Marisol falls in the park her world turns upside down. Is it possible to turn a tragedy into one of the best things in her life? Can Handsome and caring Dr. Young treat Marisol and heal Charlotte’s heart? Great story.
