I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is a great book of science experiments for children to do on their own or with minimal adult supervision for afew of the experiments. Kids will love showing off their science skills independently through this book, which is fun and educational too!

For the price ($9.99), this new science activity book just can't be beat. This was probably our favorite of this new series because it involves making cool stuff like invisible inks, slimes, crystals and such. Colorful illustrations accompany most of the projects and each one tells you the science behind it. Some of the projects didn't really get my kids' interests because they're pretty simple or the sort of stuff they've done plenty at science museums and demonstrations already (balance a ping pong ball in the air over a blow dryer, put pencils through bags of water, etc.) and not a lot were new to them, but the vast variety was great.

Examples of projects -- write a message in baking soda water (alkaline) and then paint over it with grape juice (acidic, making the text show up in a different color), make ooblek, make rock candy, use a curved piece of a plastic bottle and water to use it as a magnifying glass, making sparks in the dark by biting wintergreen candies, view light when you pull apart tape in a dark closet, and learn about reaction times by having someone try to catch a dollar bill dropped from a table.

This will be a fun science resource for families of all kinds. Kids can do most of it on their own with limited help and with things found around the house. Highly recommended.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

Originally published on my blog: Nonstop Reader.

SUPER Science Experiments: Cool Creations: Make slime, crystals, invisible ink, and more! is a new STEAM activity guide for young readers (and their resource adults/caregivers) by Elizabeth Snoke Harris. Released 14th April 2020 by Quarto on their MoonDance Press imprint, it's 64 pages and available in paperback and ebook formats.

This is one volume of a series of simple and practical science experiments aimed at middle school aged learners (ages 8+). This one contains over 75 tutorials (I didn't count carefully) covering concepts in statics, fluid dynamics (Bernoulli! <3), engineering, forensics, and more. There isn't a kid or adult alive who isn't fascinated by dusting for fingerprints.

Everyone needs fun learning ideas for youngsters (and adults) in these bizarre days. Science and learning have always been my go-to stress and boredom busters whenever I have to stay home and can't go out. This collection is simple, full of easy to follow experiments and activities, and uses easy to find ingredients which most readers already have available around the house.

There are a number of activities which can be done by kids themselves without supervision. All safety information and tips are clearly delineated in the text. The tutorials themselves are accessible and written simply in easy to understand language.

The illustrations are simple and well done. They support and enhance the experiments. Each of the exercises has a list of ingredients, step by step instructions, and a "What's Happening" explanation of the relevant concepts at the end of each one. The tutorial measurements are given in American standard measures (pounds, cups, and so forth). There is also a very abbreviated index at the back of the book. It should be noted that these are *simple* experiments, and that some of the explanations might be somewhat oversimplified (in my opinion).

This would make a super book for science homeschooling units or even online school instruction sessions.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Simple and easy experiments with lots of fun whilst also xplaining what the experiment proves.
Some are suitable for a younger audience and I would recommend KS2 for sure

Rich in content, this book is perfect for keeping kids entertained and learning throughout the summer. Upon completing a first pass, I promptly ordered 2 copies. One for my niece and another for myself to plan activities, gather supplies, and guide her from afar. Hoping to spark an interest in STEM, have fun, and spare the world another gullible idiot all at the same time.

This is a very exciting and informative book for children. This is second book of this series that I have read.
Both books have similar theme and background. It makes them easy to read.

It aims to stack together simple experiments which teach young kids about science and its magic.
A few experiments are difficult, others can be done very easily.
Experiments are simple.
They use common items available at home.
They are mostly done with the help of harmless tools.
Illustrations which accompany experiments are very helpful.
Exciting headings attract attention to each task immediately.
A very good book for gifting to a studios kid.
Thanks netgalley and publisher for review copy.
