“Welcome to Spellbound Academy.” Where my kind are sent to die. If you are born different than other Paranormal beings, you are very welcome here.
There are only two rules here.
Rule 1: Half-breeds do not use magik. Rule 2: Do as you are told and keep your head down. Rule 3: When they try to kill you…die.
Too bad I have always been very bad at following the rules. They have beaten me and stripped me of my magik. But when they try to kill the only person I love; All bets are off.
I will make them regret the day they tried to turn me into their prey.

Celeste Alex Leander Becca and Trixx are fabulous. I love the mystery of who killed Alex and the intrigue on whos killing the girls at Spellbound. I cant wait for the next book im so excited to see what happens next
This book could have been sooo good, but it just kept falling short. Despite the story having so many grammatical errors, the story was chunky. It’s also supposed to be an academy story, but there was only one section that mentioned classes, otherwise the story was more teen angst and wanting revenge. There’s so much more that the author could have done: make it more school-based, have a least ONE likable adult, a better mean girl (do we even get a real reason why London doesn’t like the MC?), more descriptive words and world-building…The opportunities to improve are endless. And I would have loved it if there was an actual mystery for the MC to solve with subtle hints along the way; maybe there’s an ancient prophecy and the bad guy doesn’t know who The Chosen one is, but knows what she’s supposed to look like so he murders girls that could possibly be The Chosen? There’s just so much more that I was expecting with this story that I didn’t get, making it a very disappointing read.
On the plus side, I did like Alex for the most part.
This starts off with a young woman named Kyra being hit by a car in an apparent attempt to kill her. Some strange things happen right after that and then, to make things even more difficult, she finds out her grandmother and her mother have been withholding information from her.
Kyra turns out to be part fae and ends up at Spellwood Academy, a place for mortal/other mixed students to stay protected from those who might want to harm them or use them. As Kyra finds out, though, this doesn't protect them from each other. Nor, in Kyra's case, will it protect her from yet another person trying to murder her.
To top that off Kyra finds out more things have been withheld from her about her own past, complicating things for her even more.
The book had interesting characters but the academy itself basically makes a mockery of the idea of an educational establishment (not criticizing the writing, though. It made the uselessness of the place even more real.)
Wow, what am awesome start to a series. I could not put this book down till it was finished. Can't wait to read the next one. This is a must read for young adult and up.
Twins one dead and one alive hiding in plain sight. I fell in love with the characters and their unique personalities. Magic with a twist! Ready for book 2!
Celeste had no character, her brother was made to be a stereotypical flamboyant guy and the story fell flat. Sometimes it takes a few chapters to get into the world and characters, but I just never got to that point. While the book was left on a cliff hanger, I just have no interest in continuing. Not for me.
I loved the well written plot and the adventue. The characters are amazing and different so they make the story so exciting. Emotions and especially the hatred can be felt as you read each page. Bravo!!!
