When Shawn takes Tanisha to his hometown of South Carolina for the Annual Community Cook-Off, he didn’t think anything could possibly go wrong. But when someone drops dead, fingers start pointing, everything spirals out of control. Can Tanisha and Shawn figure out what happened? Or should some secrets be carried to the grave? Find out in Mustard-Based Murder.
I am loving these little holiday short mysteries but maybe this one was too short... it felt a little unfinished... still going to continue on with the series of course!

We find out the murder wasn’t an accident when our MC overhears a conversation but we don’t get to see her do anything with that information.
this was a fun quick read. loved the characters and the scandaaaal of the pastor bringing his new white girlfriend to the cookout!! BUT the ending was way too abrupt! i expected some sort of wrapping up of everything that went down but it just felt a bit unfinished???? so things are just hanging with no resolutions.
This felt like part one of a two part story so that sort of threw me :/
I was enjoying the second book in the series until the very end. Mustard-Based Murder is even spicier than the first book, but I choked on that ending.... Why'd you do me dirty like that, Ms Ryse?!? WHY? 😂😭
If you like everything wrapped up tighter than Tupperware at the end, then this is not the story for you! It's a tasty lil summer holiday read for sure, but beware! The ending will leave you hungry for resolution...
I really loved the character development of the hero and heroine and their loved ones. The author quickly made me fall in love with them and laugh out loud. The murder mystery was an afterthought but the rest of the story was so good I didn’t much care.
This book made me cackle. I had to highlight so many passages. Felt like I was at a cookout with my people and I must say I enjoyed that plot twist (karma got his ass if you ask me). These stories just keep getting better and I'm sad it's only one more left.
The book starts off very quickly and we are left wondering what’s bothering Tanisha. Then she gets to the cookout and there’s another bigger mystery. Quick enjoyable read, I still want to know what happens to the murders.
