Devil Take Me

Rate this book

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Or is that wicked seductions?

Annie Theophilus is used to life not going her way, but now the future is looking bright. She's engaged and finally getting her happily-ever-after, until she catches her fiance cheating. The garage seems to be the safest place for a well-deserved crying jag. Instead, it proves to be a portal from hell, out of which a sexy denizen of the underworld has just emerged.

Namtar, one-time death-bringer to mortals, has come through an Earth portal for one thing, power. If he can convince a human to willingly sacrifice mortality for eternity in the Underworld, he will gain the power he needs to get the queen off her throne and secure a future for his people.

But Annie's seduction doesn't go as smoothly as planned. Somehow she steals a piece of his heart, and he finds himself struggling with a depth of feeling he's never known. Now, thanks to his own hesitation, they're on the run from a murderous ex-fiance and a few enraged demons.

How can he ask her to give him her soul, when all he can offer her is pain.

Warning: This book contains sex in a garage, sex on the run, and shades of BDSM experimentation between willing partners as well as graphic depictions of an insane demon queen punishing her male and female lovers with stuff that put the ick in icky,I mean kinky.

For Annie Theophilus, bad luck has been a constant in her life, until now. Finally, Annie is on the verge of having everything she ever wanted. She has a handsome fiancé, a beautiful home, and a successful job as a high school teacher. Then Annie’s world comes crashing down around her when she finds her fiancé cheating on her. Hiding out in the garage for a much-needed cry seems like a sensible plan until a portal to the Underworld opens up right beside her.

Namtar of the Annunaki is on a quest. His people have been brought down by the actions of their selfish, crazed queen. Namtar’s attempt to gather power brings him to Earth, where he must convince a human to sacrifice her mortality to spend an eternity in Underworld. Should he succeed, Namtar will be able to free his people, and the lovely Annie would suit his purposes perfectly. Yet, things never go as easily as planned. From the moment Namtar touches Annie, he finds he cannot so callously use the intriguing beauty. Soon the two find themselves on the run, from demons and murderous humans alike. Should they survive, can Namtar really ask Annie to give up everything to him?

Devil Take Me is a fast-paced, thrilling adventure with rollicking good sex and some fascinating plot twists. Namtar is sexy, honorable, and justifiably conflicted as he tries to balance the need to free his people with his need to protect and love Annie. Annie is likeable and charming, and her horrible bad luck only served to endear her further to me.

The demon queen definitely punishes her lovers in a way that puts the “ick in icky,” as the warning on Samhain’s site says. Thankfully these scenes are brief and not plentiful, and serve to highlight just how badly Namtar needs to succeed in his quest, even if the price might be too high for him to bear. Altogether, a hero and heroine I can root for, steamy love scenes, a lovely romance, an engaging plot, and some truly terrible villains make Devil Take Me a delightful read.

Well, The sex was hot. And there was a lot of it. The story line was difficult to follow. It was a book that I'd read for about twenty minutes and take a break. But I struggled through it. It does have a HEA ending. I probably would not have bought the book, knowing what I know now. I do not like this type of genre, so the blame is mine, not the author's. It was well-written, full of suspense and action. It has the romantic element, very titillating in places. But warning, it has some gross areas, which is normal in horror books. I just missed it in the blurb. If that's what you like, then this is the book for you. Give it try, like I'm saying in MHO.

Wow!!! This book was super, super hot. I rarely ever read books over again or watch movies more than once. It's extremely rare for me, but I definitely see myself reading this book over and over again just because I loved it so much. I also sometimes just really crave a good book that gives me a nice plot with lots of furious, hot sex with a dominating man that you just can't help falling in love with. This is definitely something that this book can deliver on. At no point did I feel lost or feel the need to roll my eyes while reading this book and it had my complete attention the whole time. :)

I almost didn't read this b/c some have this shelved under BDSM, which is a genre I like to avoid since I dislike the masochistic side of BDSM. I didn't think it was that bad but I am probably more conditioned than other readers. It does describe the "bad guys" participating in this type of behavior, but not between the main characters which is important to me as a reader. There is some violence that I found a little disturbing (hero's first kill to protect the heroine) but it is a book about demons so I wasn't surprised. Again, this was an amazing book that provided everything I was craving and needing in a good book and I'd give it an extra star if I could.

*** I just read this book again and need to correct my above comment about the main character's not displaying BDSM behaviors. I must have been more conditioned than I thought although it's still minor there is some pleasure pain infliction going on between them. I still like the book but am surprised I miss as much as did the first time around. ***

Oh my god this was good! I really enjoyed the Sumerian Gods take on things i have some of the authors other works i bought earlier but haven't got to yet but i have read Death by Seduction and i enjoyed it. But this? I absolutley loved! I was almost is this even the same author? But you can tell its her. And i found her heroine to be unique and perfectly suited to this story. If you want to read A Different tale regarding the underworld thats not Lucifer or Hades, try this read, if she decides to do a series around this i am SOOOOgoing to read it, hell I've put her im my fav books shelf and i've only read 2 of her books. Thats how good Devil Take Me is.

Delicious. If anyone can find a man like Namtar, then feel free to send him my way. That man just made me want to fan myself. This book was hot, exciting, dark, and did I mention hot? Definitely read this book.

Average. Some illogicalness. Way too fast pace with the having sex with a complete stranger I just met in my garage and not even being creeped out or questioning it. And of course he just happens to find a super powerful lady right off the bat.

3.5 stars!

If you're looking for hot sex then this is the book for you. Sex happens A LOT and the storyline isn't too bad either. Quite a quick read that for me was a filler book in between more intense books that I'm reading.

This was a fast paced, steamy book. Some of the details could have been ironed out a little better but it worked.

A typical Dark Romance Erotica. The erotic scenes were good, the rest of it seemed a bit underworked for me. But then I'm pretty nitpicky with details.
