Good reading practice, but an unsatisfying read - we don't find out what happens to most of the characters, after learning their extensive back stories.

This is the second Paco Ardit book I have read at the B1 level and I think I'm ready to move onwards and upwards. That is a testament to the effectiveness of the book rather than to my gift for languages. To get to grips with it you need to know the conditional and the simple past and pluperfect tenses, and gerunds.
This is an intriguing and entertaining story told in sixty chapters. Each chapter is a page and a half, i.e. bite size. Just enough to make some progress in the story, but not too long that you start getting bogged down and lost. The best way to read the book is to read a chapter, then check any words or constructions you're not clear about it, reread if necessary to make sure you've got it, then move on.
The central character, Celia, runs a high class restaurant in Uruguay and is an insufferable narcissist. The sympathetic characters are her staff, who have to put up with her tyrannical management style. I won't spoil the plot but there is a denouement which most readers will find is a just outcome.
All in all a good book if you're at an intermediate stage in your Spanish. I will definitely read more books by Paco Ardit.

La última cena is, as the description indicates, a book suitable for intermediate Spanish students. The storyline, however, is incredibly depressing. There is not a single humorous sentence in this entire book. Every character is either suffering or making others suffer. The plot would have been ideal for the author to include some entertaining ironies here and there and maybe a plot twist or two but he didn't. At the end of the day though, the book will help with ones Spanish practice regardless.

The book was okay and match the B1 level. However I didn’t like the ending, the cooks poisoning their boss on purpose because she was awful to everyone, is not the option I would have chosen. I would have ended the book with the cooks buying the restaurant with the inheritance one of them would receive since his sister wrote to him that his mother died recently. Then, the king could have fired Celia since she never created the menu. To me that is justice and revenge well done.

I want to give it a better rating because these books are great practice and are of a decent length. But the ‘story’ was really bad, and the ending was worse.
My second Paco Ardit book, and I really enjoyed ‘Amor Online’. However, I fear that this Spanish learning series may be quantity over quality. I have another to read so will soon find out.

The books is fun and a good read for B1. The ending was disappointing, there was no closure on the Marcos situation (unless I missed it), nor on how his parents would make ends meet. Nor on the fact that ultimately the quality chefs were not the owner.

Un libro muy accesible para usuarios intermedios. Los capítulos deberían haber sido un poco más largos, pero la trama es pegadiza e interesante.

Brilliant book for learners. 2-page chapters. Interesting story. Read it twice already.

Audiobook - przesłuchałam 5 razy, zanim wszystko zrozumiałam. 😁 Plot twist na koniec

I listen to all the B1 Ardit novels and this one is the hardest to understand in my opinion. The words aren’t articulated nearly as well as in the other books. I can understand about 80% of the other B1 books and only 40% of this one. This one is read by a different person who seems to speak faster and less deliberately which is tough on B1 level listeners.
