Still desperate to find Liberty Devan, Hudson Powell travels to a new portal world; Chrome One. Illegally claimed by the Relic Guardian Force, Hudson senses Logan Griff’s involvement. If he can find his scumbag former training officer then maybe he can find Liberty and the crystal too.

Meanwhile, Morphus travels to a powerful alien relic called the Telescope in order to learn the location of Goliath. But without the alien crystal, stolen by Logan Griff, there is no hope of defeating the great ship.

As Goliath demonstrates its immense destructive power, the news of the alien invasion spreads, causing panic. Logan Griff is forced into hiding and forges an uneasy alliance with mercenary, Cutler Wendell.

Returning with hopeful news, Morphus and Liberty embark on a new quest, while Hudson must track down Logan Griff and the crystal.

But even without Liberty at his side, Hudson isn’t alone.

New alliances will form and new dangers are revealed in Union’s End, the penultimate part of the epic Star Scavengers series.

“How do humans function while handicapped by so many debilitating chemical reactions?”
Another thrilling ride! Hudson sees his team building up, and with the strange, enigmatic and phenomenal alien AI, their hopes significantly raise higher. Very imaginative...Ogden has woven an imaginative story, a wild journey through portals into earth live planets, leftovers of an ancient, who once possessed high technology. Unexpected collisions, surprising new tech introduced, this has been a fantastic wild persecution, with action filled and fast paced scenarios, tension full battles, and gripping storyline. Gathering forces, and making new allies has been difficult to confront the ultimate war with the most destructive enemy humankind has ever encountered: Goliath. I enjoyed reading it very much. Looking forward to reading the final sequel to the series, The Last Revocator!

Our team is scattered, each pursuing different aspects of the problem while a destructive alien ship looms ever closer.

This is book four of the series. The book works pretty well as a standalone, but you will be missing a lot of the backstory. I do not recommend starting here.

The book is well written, easy to read and just plain fun. Things are not looking good right now and every solution presents more problems. The characters are well developed and the setting has lots of details. The story itself is fast paced and keeps things moving, making this a real page turner. Overall, a very enjoyable story and I look forward to the conclusion.

Highly recommended.

Back in the beginning, the reader learned the mission of Goliath that gives us an idea of what’s happening now. The great ship Goliath’s mission was to “cleanse” certain planets of organic life. It had been prevented from completing the mission and banished to the galactic core, but being sentient, it grew bitter at not completing the task. For thousands of years, it thought about its mission. The last Revocater vessel had stopped it and destroyed any hope of its navigating to the target system 5118208. But Goliath knew the last Revocater had perished in the process so Goliath waited for the right time to continue that original mission, not aware that “Morphus”, as named by the human Liberty Devan, had actually survived. Although it had been only one of hundreds of artificial constructs created to operate the Revocaters, it survived and had begun to make an adjustment to its programming, because to defeat Goliath again, it had to change itself and evolve. Two powerful opponents preparing to fulfill their missions.

As the Corporeals watched all of this through The Telescope, orbiting above their home world, powerless to intervene, the unthinkable happened as they saw Goliath come out of its prison and begin a relentless course back to System 5118208. The moment dreaded for eons was here! Yet in the midst of darkness there was now hope. The last Revocater thought to be destroyed seemed to be alive, and it was coming home!

Goliath still appears undefeatable, with the power of a star. Can our heroes tackle such an undefeatable foe? Or is Morphus ready now to meet Goliath in battle? Grab your copy and hang on for an unforgettable adventure!

Book 4 is a really fascinating part to this series. Hudson starts the book on his own, trying to find Liberty, Morphus, but also trying to locate Cutler, Griff and Tory, as they have the Crystal.
(Without giving too much away), Hudson very quickly locates Liberty early on in this book, making for a great reunion, and meaning that the two of them can work together to help Morphus. Tobin decides that it is better to stick around and face a near unbeatable Alien AI that is hell-bent on destroying the entire Galaxy of everything that has ever been touched by a Corporeal than actually going back and seeing his Mother (to be honest, I feel the same way about mine, so, I can’t say much).
The book then basically breaks into several different parts, in which we have the Hudson, Liberty, Morphus and Tobin team that is trying to stop Goliath, as well as get the crystal back from Cutler, Griff and Tory.
There is another part of the book that is Cutler, Griff and Tory trying to navigate what has become a very hostile Galaxy for them, with the Council trying to capture and get retribution on them for letting Liberty and several other bits of property go, as well as the MP, CET and the RGF all hunting them as those in power have placed a warrant for their arrest.
Then there is the small sections in which we get to see Goliath unleashing its raw power on the Galaxy, decimating things, as well as planning, and coming to realise that there might yet be a threat to it.
There are a few other minor characters along the way, but these are the major story streams.
The relationship between Liberty and Hudson is fascinating, in that they entered into their agreement so that they could both escape their respective lives, and start fresh with a ship, and go Relic Hunting, which led them to the Crystal, Morphus, and the situation they are now in. However this has only ever increased and tightened their bond, bringing them closer together, not romantically, but more like family, they really care for each other, and would happily give their lives for the other, this is no more obvious than when Hudson is so distraught at trying to relay to Liberty that he came for her, and tried to rescue her, but was thwarted, and she makes it clear she is ok with it, and understands. It is a really powerful moment between the two.
Ogden does a masterful job with the character writing, Hudson is just so real, in his happy-go-lucky attitude, hope for the best, naïve in some ways, incredibly knowledgeable in others, and fiercely loyal. Liberty is a beautiful person, but one who is quite damaged by her upbringing, one who has had to look after herself, and in the process, has learnt the hard way, and has some exceptional skills. You need to earn her trust, but once earned, she is another one who is fiercely loyal. Tobin is just hilarious as the stupidly rich brat, with no clue to anything, but has a heart of gold (and will be completely useless to his Mother as he is not cutthroat enough.
On the flip side, you have Cutler, the Mercenary Assassin, who is just cold-hearted, and dead inside, with about as much personality as a sign post. You wind him up, and unleash him at whatever you want dead.
Griff is just a moron, who happens to have been lucky enough to be in the right places at the right times, or near the right people at the right time, so he can use them, or get some advantage from them. He would have been dead, broke, or lost in a cell somewhere if not for the likes of Wash, who has only used him for her own gains, and so she has a scapegoat if needed. He is a total sleaze, but he continues to be lucky enough to avoid getting a bullet at every turn, one can only hope he catches one soon.
The really fascinating enigma of this series has been Tory Bellona, who has an amazing range of skills, and even after having been put down a couple of times, continues to get up, survive, and live to fight another day. Her backstory is just brilliant, and shows a lot of depth and detail.
And that is what has made this series just so amazing, the world building, not just of the characters, who each have such in-depth and detailed back stories, but also the actual Galaxy, each of the worlds, the portal planets and their scavenger cities, the different organisations, the MP, the CET and the RGF, there is so much incredible detail in all of it.
It makes for such an incredible story, one you get totally lost in, and engaged in.
And in this the 4th book in the series, we get to follow both groups as they move ever closer to the end, one just trying to survive, the other trying to stop the end of all known life.
This is a brilliant part of the series, and I can’t wait to read part 5.

OMG, finally! After an agonizing wait for what I hoped would come, Tori is working with Hudson and Liberty. Tobin stuck around as well, which made me really happy. He's a hoot. Basically this entire book is split between hunting for the crystal which Griff stole and trying to defend themselves from (as well as prepare to take down) Goliath. Morpheus shows more of his insane and strange powers, even sharing some of them with certain members of the team. Griff is maybe, finally, about to get what's coming to him. Oh, wait, he gets away again.

There was plenty of suspense and the story moved along at a good pace. It's hard to believe everything will be resolved in book 5. I'm enjoying the story quite a bit. It has a lot of lighthearted moments and I am discovering I really like the space cowboy genre. I do have my doubts about whether Hudson will ever be able to settle down to a life as a relic hunter when all this is over. Maybe after a long nap.

I received a free copy of the audiobook from the author and have reviewed it willingly.

Old-school space opera that is just plain fun to read! Good guys you want to root for, bad guys who are really despicable, an enigmatic alien AI trying to understand humanity, and spunky kids doing their best to save life as we know it. Hudson's drive to do something that matters has put him in the center of an unlikely team that is fast becoming family. Familiar elements are used in a way that is comfortable, but not always predictable. Luck continues to play a large part in this story - but it is not always on the good guy's side! As they say, fortune is a fickle mistress.

This is book 4 of 5 in the Star Scavengers Series and the tension is really ramping up! This is a series that must be read in order. All the pieces that were put into play in the first three books are starting to come together and building up to what looks like an epic conclusion! I can't wait to see how this ride ends

Hudson and his friends are back and trying to survive the insanity that is their lives right now. The story was full of action, adventure, crazy, evil, and characters that are insane yet fun to read about. There is more a quest feel to this story that fits right in with the series as Hudson, Liberty and Morphus do what needs to be done. I loved the good guys and rooted for them and yelled at the bad guys that never seem to get what they deserve. But I was completely entertained and glued to the end to see what would happen next and what Goliath would do too. I was kept guessing to the end.

I really like this series. Good story, very good characters.
EXCEPT the lead character.
He is really starting to annoy me.
The bad guy can commit murder, steal the treasure, kill Hero's love interest and three or four times is on the threshold of killing him...
but all you can get out of our hero is.....I going to get you for that!

Still the story is very good.
To make it a 5 star rating, I'd drop the main character and go with the female mercenary!

Union's End

There is only one thing left to do. Hudson and his crew had to stop Goliath. They also have to find the crystal in order to destroy their nemesis.

“Union’s End”(Star Scavengers #4) by GJ Ogden. Genre: Space Opera. Location: San Francisco, California, Earth to the outer reaches of space. Time: Future.-
-
The Series: The ancient spaceship Goliath slept for eons. Its mission was to destroy all humans. The ships it destroyed were scattered across many planets. Relic Hunters scavenged the ruined ships for alien tech-a dangerous business that occasionally brought great riches. Now disabled in uncharted space, Goliath can only wait until someone finds its missing crystal.-
In book 1, our hero Hudson Powell is fired from the Relic Guardian Force, finds a mysterious crystal, and is hunted by assassins.-
In book 2, Hudson and young co-captain Liberty start relic hunting while dodging assassins.-
In book 3, Goliath awakens to resume its hunt against humans while Hudson and Liberty are pursued by many.-
-
Book 4: Union’s End
Morphus, the alien artificial intelligence, piloted its now-disabled revocater ship against Goliath eons ago. Now Hudson is chosen by Morphus to fight Goliath based on his integrity and hope. Liberty is missing, and Morphus experiments with feeling human emotions.-
-
The revengeful Griff and his hired mercenaries Cutler and Tory are in possession of the crystal. Entering a new portal, they discover the space behind it is not deserted. After battles and re-alliances, Griff and Cutler head for a hideout; Liberty, her fellow escapee Tobin, and Morphus join forces to find the Last Revocater ship; and Hudson and Tory head after Griff and Cutler to take back the crystal.-
-
Book 4 has a “Last Starfighter” vibe to it with our hero, Hudson, chosen by Morphus to lead the fight against Goliath, similar to the young man being chosen by aliens to lead the fight in Last Starfighter.-
-
The Series: Space Operas include: melodrama✔️, risk-taking space adventures✔️, chivalric romance✔️, outer space locations✔️, faster-than-light travel✔️, futuristic weapons and technology✔️, galactic empires✔️, interstellar wars✔️, and aliens✔️. Yep, this is a Space Opera. Mash together a bit of “Firefly” and “Indiana Jones”. Add in some “Last Starfighter” vibes, and an Enemies to Lovers trope. It’s a romp across space full of villains, heros, aliens, and artificial intelligences. It’s a David and Goliath space opera. (to be exact, it’s a Hudson and Goliath space opera 🤣) And because it fits its genre so well, it’s 4 stars from me.🌵📚👩🏼‍🦳”

G J Ogden Union’s End book 4
This fourth book will not disappoint in this book we find Tory teaming up with Hudson, Liberty and Tobin with Morphs’ help they are trying to recover the crystal while Griff and Cutler are still trying to kill each other. As in book three you will not want to stop reading once you start. G J has got this way of writing that can have you on the edge of your seats one minute or laughing the next, he brings the story lines together seamlessly and invites you in to the plot to join the action, it is sad that book five is the last can’t wait to read the final book.
