Luke isn't meant for romance. At least, that's what he tells himself. Especially after his last mess of a relationship which left him heartbroken, alone and swearing off men forever.
That is until Quinn ends up under his care in the triage ward with multiple broken bones and a flirtatious bedside manner that leaves Luke torn between running away or basking in the attention forever.
Except that there's no way for Quinn to fit into the quiet life that Luke has made for himself. Not when he's a big shot director. Not when he travels the world and lives a life that Luke knows he can't compete with.
Unless Quinn can convince him otherwise, it's better for Luke to be alone and invulnerable.
Book 2 of the Shooting Star series, featuring famous men finding love and themselves along the way. Invulnerable can be read as a standalone short novel but it does feature some characters from the rest of the series. HEA and no cheating.

This review is of Unattainable, the 2021 re-release of Invulnerable. Having read the first book in the series (the also re-released Inevitable,) I was interested in seeing Luke finding his own HEA. This is his story, short, sweet and with little angst. Luke has many failed relationships behind him, the last with commitment-phobe Gabriel who was hung up on his first love, Josh. Although Luke was aware that relationship was only real in his own mind, he repeatedly threw himself at Gabriel, fell in love despite knowing it would never work, and then swore off men. This book picks up two years after the events in Inevitable. Quinn is in town visiting Josh when he is injured and wakes up to find Luke at his hospital bedside. Quinn has his own insecurities and does not put himself out there easily. He is captivated by Luke who shies away from him every time he tries to get close. The attraction between the two men is obvious but we learn little about Quinn's background to account for his insecurity. If you haven't read the first book, enough information is there to get the gist of Luke's hesitancy. As this book is so short, it feels a bit rushed and emotions and attraction were only skimmed over rather than given time for the two men to explore. The epilogue gave us another HFN and I expect to catch up with Luke and Quinn in the third book of the series, just as we caught up with Gabe and Josh in this book. I preferred the depth of Inevitable, which needed more pages to explore Gabriel's hurt and Josh's self-absorption, issues and eventual redemption, but this was a quick and easy read and I liked it. I'm now looking forward to Alain's story in Unloveable.
This book continues from Book 1, about 2 years later. Luke is a nurse at the hospital and still has a broken heart over Gabriel not loving him. Because of the hurt, he doesn’t want to start anything with anyone else.
Quinn is a director, visiting his friends Gabriel and Josh. They urge him on to “face his fears” about jumping from a waterfall into the pool below – which I consider absolutely valid fears he should have paid attention to! But he jumps and wakes up in the hospital with 4 broken bones and other reminders that this was not a good idea. He meets Luke and feels an attraction, but Luke is holding back. Will Quinn convince Luke to give him a chance? Will he assure him they can handle the long-distance relationship issue? Or is Luke still afraid to move on from his past heartache?
This was a good story and I was glad to see Luke getting another chance to move on. We also get a peek at Gabriel and Josh to see how they are doing. I enjoyed the book and the likable characters. Grab your copy and see what Luke and Quinn finally decide.
This is a cute, sweet and entertaining story. Luke has been depressed and uninterested in anything since the man he loved dumped him for the love of his life. Quinn has been disillusioned by the men who only want him for his money. They meet at the hospital where Luke works after Quinn has an accident. The spark was immediate, and Quinn was intrigued, but Luke wasn't interested in being with Quinn. That doesn't stop Quinn from repeatedly trying to get Luke to go out with him. Luke knows 3 things. First, that he always gets dumped, second, Quinn isn't staying in town long, and third they have a mutual friend that makes it awkward for them to be together. Luke is is shy, stubborn and afraid. Quinn is sweet, amusing and sensitive. Quinn is just who Luke needs to make him believe in love again, and Luke is just who Quinn needs to be able to trust again. It has an interesting storyline with a few surprises thrown in and I really enjoyed it. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
Luke didn’t want to accept that Gabriel wasn’t interested because he loved Josh. When Josh and Gabriel invited Quinn his director friend and they went jumping off a waterfall but he wasn’t lucky. Quinn hit the rocks and broke some bones and ended in the hospital where Luke was a nurse and Quinn saw him. He finally convinced Luke to be his boyfriend and did the long distance romance! Great book!
Luke has been gun shy in regards to giving his heart again after being left behind. again. However now he has met Quinn, a patient at his work, a friend of his last boyfriend, but does he feel brave enough even after Quinn hints none to subtle he is interested in him. Find out how both men tackle their insecurities, their actraction and love for eachother and if they have to choose eork over love. This book has a hfn/hea. The book has a nice flow and storyline and is for those who believe love is their if you are willing to let it in. 4,5 * I was given this book as an arc by the author to leave an honest review.
Sometimes you need to risk the jump jumping into the deep end to reap the reward
Quinn is afraid to jump off a waterfall into the pool below, even when his friends state how safe it is. So he does and wakes up in the hospital, "Four broken bones and a bad strain." later. His nurse in the fracture ward, Luke, and he are immediately attracted, but Luke is too afraid to risk a relationship after the emotional loss of his previous one.
This is a light romance about an emotionally wounded man and another even more emotionally wounded one who find each other. then need to find the courage to risk their hearts.
While the story is enjoyable, if found the characterizations of Quinn and Luke to be superficial, and the close past relations among Luke, Quinn, Josh and Gabriel to be contrived.

This is the second book in this series but the first one that I have read. It is the first one that I have read by this author. I am glad that I took the chance. This is a sweet, feel good story. This is the story of Quinn and Luke. Quinn is at a point in his life where he wants to find his special someone. Little does he know that he will find him when he wakes up in a hospital bed. Luke is a nurse who still hasn't gotten over his last break up. I liked the interaction between Luke and Quinn. I especially like the way Luke climbs out of the hole he has dug for himself and starts to really live rather than exist. This book is well written and easy to read. I liked it.

Lots of past hurts fill Luke as we meet our heroes in this book. Him trying to heal and move on from the past keeps him trapped til he meets Quinn. Small sparks that, with hard work, turn into a sweet flame. I enjoy the fact that there are no loose ends left in this story. Gabe and Luke get closure and I really like that. The “chase” Luke puts Quinn on is fun, the fact that he doesn’t lead him too long before surrendering was perfect. This story was entertaining and the characters were enjoyable..

Quinn is afraid to jump from the waterfall and when he does he gets hurt and winds up in hospital where he meets Luke. He is attracted to Luke but Luke was badly hurt by his breakup with Gabriel so he is hesitant to believe that he can trust a relationship or in someone to find him worth staying with. Both men are vulnerable and they have to find a way to get past that to the HEA that they really want even though they are afraid.

Two men who suffered before. Both were in bad relationships. Are they willing to try again??? To risk another heartache ... Risk the chance for love?? Well written story full of emotions and doubts. Nice reality and background. Enjoy
