Jaclyn Love is a magnet for trouble - it seems to follow her wherever she goes.
Unfortunately for Kadan Davenport, she also seems to be a magnet for him - even after a disastrous first impression that leaves him - literally - black and blue.
Jaclyn is busy trying to find some sort of balance, and Kadan is just trying not to get swept up in the chaos.
In a small city like Blakewood, it's hard to avoid each other... especially when each additional encounter makes them wonder if they really want to.
"I Think I Might Love You" is a first-in-series novella.
This book is the definition of my perfect romcom. Seriously. A nonstop hilarious book that has you smiling/grinning/cackling throughout, with whacky shenanigans yet thoroughly believable characters, a cosy romantic arc, and a happy ever after that made me literally swoon. Not to mention how red-hot this was, but that is to be expected of Christina C. Jones.
Jaclyn Love is that wild best friend you despair of but will adore and protect to the end of your days. Sexy, altruistic vet (both meanings of the word) Kadan has a type: Jaclyn. But he's determined to break the cycle of falling for hot chaos demons. Of course, Jaclyn is a SPECIAL hot chaos demon made of marshmallows and love, so his plans crumble and he falls for her hook, line and sinker.
There's a yummy fake relationship subplot, and this book also features one of my favourite kind of scenes - MC1 standing up for MC2 against mean family members in a public place. I know that's weirdly specific, but it hits all my loyalty & protectiveness buttons. I also loved the little tie-ins with the Wright brothers! Basically, you should read this, and then read the rest of the series, which is exactly what I'm rushing off to do.
BTW - I categorised this as both enemies to lovers and f2l because at the beginning, they definitely have enemy vibes, but they become snarky friends very easily, so I guess it's really frenemies to lovers (which is one of my favourite tropes) but I don't have a shelf for that and it's too late to reorganise my books now!!! Anyway, here are my favourite quotes:
"Dick-on-Demand. NetDicks. Dickazon Prime."
"Don't be making sense in my face, Jaclyn!"
"What's so confusing about me wanting something different for my life?" "Limiting your colours. That's the part I don't get. That kaleidoscope is what makes you Jaclyn. It's what I was supposed to be keeping my ass away from." SWOON
4.5 stars. Okay, this book was so cute. Even though this was a novella and I normally have issues with the pacing of novellas, I thought the pacing of this was perfect and I flew through the story.
When this started, I really loved Jaclyn's character. She was so blunt and honest and her character was actually really refreshing and added to the light-heartedness and humor of the story. I literally laughed out loud during this book. While some scenes were a bit too over the top, I think that this novella achieved what is set out to do, which was give us a light, fun, and super hot romance.
When it came to Kadan's character, I absolutely loved him. He was so sweet and so determined to communicate with Jaclyn in the end, which I appreciated. I also enjoyed how he was playful and loved to banter with Jaclyn, but he knew when it went too far and he helped her kind of see where her life was going and how to feel about the mistakes she's made in her past. There are also so many of my favorite tropes in here, including a workplace romance, fake dating, age gap, and hate to love. If you want a romance that will make you laugh out loud and just smile, you have to pick this novella up.
From beginning to end this book had me in a chokehold and my attention was captured!! I absolutely loved everything about Kaden and Jaclyn!!
After using her sisters apartment to escape from her lying cheating ex, Jaclyn had no idea that she’d be walking in on the sexy 🍆 slangin doctor that was subletting her apartment! From their first encounter these two were at each others throats until they were at each others clothes!
The witty banter between these two and the laughs I laughed were a breath of fresh air! The reviews about book two and three do not have me eager to continue the series but I can honestly say CCJ didn’t miss with this one!
I'm telling ya'll Christina C. Jones never fails to impress me! This was such a great start to a new series.
I Think I Might Love You has the craziest "meet cute" moment that's right up my alley. It came out of left field and I completely appreciated that. It focuses on Jaclyn love who has a lot of issues and run ins with law especially following a certain situation regarding her ex. When she meets Kadan things are no different. While I wouldn't necessarily categorize this as a enemies to lovers romance. It feels more like a hate to love trope. There is definitely some tension between Jaclyn and Kadan as they get to know each other. Nevertheless, the romance that ensues is sweet and endearing and I was rooting for them to get together the entire time. Kadan definitely appreciates and values Jaclyn in spite of her mistakes and that is extremely important to the core of this novel. Not only is he willing to look past her mistakes, but he is also willing to acknowledge his own faults/mistakes. Their chemistry is smoking hot with a little sweetness on the side.
As with all of her other works, Christina C Jones exhibits her skills and talents as a gifted writer. This book was a mix of humor, sass, and seriousness. Although it is a novella, she was able to manage to keep steady pacing and great character development. It is no surprise that she has recently become one of my favorite romance authors of all time. If you haven't checked out this series definitely give it a try. There are also some appearances from the Wright brothers and their partners in this book as the Love sisters are their cousins.
This book had me doubled over with giggles and squirming in my seat at the same time! Super hot. I love that it was an age gap, fake relationship, workplace romance and started out with a little enemies to lovers!! Literally the perfect combo, and exactly what I needed.
I really enjoyed this story....I purchased the audiobook....the narration was decent....This was a funny story....I love the enemies to lovers dynamic.....Jacqueline was extremely funny....she always had a smart comeback to anything someone said to her that she deemed inappropriate. But, her parts were also funny....this book really made me laugh. Really cute story!
Second read was the newly re-release audiobook with a multi cast
So this is the first book I read this month, and I think is going to be the last one too, well at least until I finish my exams and find an internship! But anyway, this book is so damn good, I love it, it was a short read, but very enjoyable, the hero and the heroine were hilarious, I adored them, and I'll be finishing this series for sure because I can't wait to read more about the love sisters!
The only reason this book even came into my radar was because Talia Hibbert the author of Get a Life, Chloe Brown, recommended it.
Damn! this book (novella actually) is perfect. The MCs are fucking awesome. There's enemies vibe in the start then they become friends who roast each other, then there's fake dating stuff and well it all ends perfectly. To pack all this drama in such a short story is commendable. This book was witty, humourous, real, feminist and did I mentioned funny as hell? I was in between a serious book and a webseries so this was a perfect choice to simmer it all a bit. It was short and I think I completed it in few hours. Can't recommend enough.
- The banter in this book felt so real and I found myself laughing along with the characters as if I were there with them!! I immediately ordered the rest of the series because I can’t wait to read about the other two sisters in this series. - I rarely enjoy novellas because it usually feels like part of the story is lacking, but this one felt fully fleshed out even though it was only 133 pages. Christina C Jones just had SUCH a way with words and her writing is so easy to read, but so fun too!! This is the second book I’ve read of hers and she’s quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. - I love how Jaclyn wasn’t your typical main character. She has so much personality and confidence!! I love that she had some areas where she was trying to grow, but how each day those things seemed to keep holding her back. It was such a great representation of how hard it can be to grow, change, and let go of the past. LOVED this book!
I think I Might Love…Novellas! This book was so funny, I was crying with laughter at one point! As a couple they have such amazing chemistry and banter. The story was perfectly paced with just enough detail to make you love them both
I went into this story blind and it was delightful to watch it all unfold. Easily recommend this to everyone, new readers, readers in a slump, readers that need a quick fun book in between big fantasy reads. EVERYONE!
I'm not a huge fan of novellas, but I wanted to give this one a try for my week of reading only black authors (trying to spotlight them this week!) because my friends have all loved it. Honestly, I thought the story was fun and fast-paced, but I'm not sure if it was exactly my taste. Fart jokes and a rushed romance doesn't sing for me, and thought it tried a bit too hard to be funny on every page. However, it was an easy, light read that made me smile.
This was my first real romcom and it was nothing short of hilarious! I liked how entertaining the characters were while also lightly touching on some deep subject matter. I think the fake dating trope is pretty cheesy but Jaclyn and Kadan’s chemistry made it tolerable. Speaking of Jaclyn, she kept me laughing out loud the entire story. I love a funny FMC. 😂
To say I enjoyed this book would be an understatement considering I inhaled it in under 3 hours. This book was funny as hell. Kadan & Jaclyn were such amazing characters and I live for their witty banter.
Ok thank you to everyone who told me to just pick this up and read it immediately. This romance was and is the best book in the whole wide world. Christina C. Jones writes the most hilarious romcoms and everyone not putting her in those romcoms lists all over the social media is doing it all wrong and doesn't know anything about romcoms.
Why do you need to read I Think I Might Love You? First, it's laugh out loud funny. I was laughing so hard last night, while reading it, that I thought my parents would be all like "WTF is wrong with her, why is she laughing alone in her room" because this has so much power!!!! Want to have the time of your life? Read this book.
- Also features the hate to love trope because these two REALLY don't start on the best terms. When Jaclyn returns to her sister's apartment to rest for the night, she finds a naked man sleeping on the couch. She doesn't know him SO she doesn't know her sister just rented her place to him. When she sees him, she obviously gets scared so she punches him and hides in her sister's room, that's when everything becomes clear but the damage is done lmao. Their banter is OFF THE ROOF and perfection and everyone will love it for sure.
- Fake dating ANYONE?!!!! Yes, sir.
- A cute kitten makes them meet again? He's a vet and works with animals, so hello he's the perfect romance hero, am I right!!!
I am for sure reading the rest of the series. Christina C. Jones is a powerhouse and if you aren't reading her books, what are you even doing. I Think I Might Love You is a perfect example of a romantic comedy with the best amount of romance AND comedy. You won't be able to stop reading and you will want this to have more pages.
This is funny as hell and Christina C. Jones has a terrific voice. Some grammatical errors, but honestly I barely noticed them because I was caught up in the storytelling. Also: it is such a thrill when you read a book and realize that it unexpectedly fits a square in your bingo reading challenge. I didn’t have a clue that Jaclyn owned an ice cream shop before I started reading (or that there’d be multiple scenes involving ice cream). Yay!
4.5 stars I really loved this audiobook. It had humor, enemies to lovers and a couple with hot chemistry. I’m surprised that for a novella, it developed pretty well and I felt like I got to know the characters. Definitely going to keep going with this series
I was hooked with the opening scene in the apartment. It was a very enjoyable and endearing narrative. The way Jaclyn and Kaden played off of one other, banter about things like farting, D Olympics, and even Miss Thing, made their interaction amusing.
I really enjoyed this. Quick, light and fun. I was able to gobble this down in one sitting and I didn't even get annoyed that it was kinda short. The heroine has just the right kind of bite I like. I also liked her family. Good romantic chemistry as well.
I laughed out loud more times than I could count while listening to this (the narrators did an amazing job)! The ice cream/gas scene had me rolling, and then on top of all the humor and steam, you add a stray cat finding a home! I had no choice but to love this!
3.5 rounded down. This was a quick light, funny read. I really like this author and this new series of novella is confirming that. It is a spin off of the Wright brothers series (that I've read as well) and while it's not necessary to have read the other series it definitely adds something. The way the MC meet was funny (if violent) and I really liked both of them. It is ennemies to lovers, kind of, and the transition was smooth. It also has the fake dating trope done in a funny way. They communicate rather well and support each other (even if he supports her more than she supports him). I really enjoyed how it tackled the subject of class within the black community, dealing with code switching and respectability at all cost. I liked how Kadan navigated and dealt with those who wanted him to be more "respectable". I just wished it was longer, the ending felt rushed. Everyone is mentioning the fart joke and that was really not it for me but other than that I liked the humour and the use of AAVE. The story felt unfinished but I know how this author works now: I'll know more in the next installment of the series so onto the next.
