This is pretty much business as usual for this series, which isn't a bad thing...

Special forces soldier Ben comes home with a bad leg, attitude and career. Cadence was a diver in the olympics until an injury stopped her. They had been high school sweethearts until their careers got in the way. Cadence had gone bankrupt and is working at a swimming teacher/coach. 90% of the book was they dithering about themselves and nothing really happened in the plot.

The story was quick. Ben comes home from the military injured. Runs into his old girlfriend Candence. They were too young to get married right out of high school. Now they are adults their lives have changed. Are they mature enough to start the relationship over? There was no mystery leading up to them reuniting. Basic boy meets girl, girl meets boy they break up and years later they get back together.

This is a story about a McKaslin man. Ben is a returning soldier with an injured leg and a not so great attitude. The story also involves the rescue of small and seeing the hometown girl he left behind at the same gas station. Karma anyone?

It was so cute :) I was impressed how straightforward Ben was about the past, it cut down on the unnecessary miscommunication. At least until the end hehe

When reading this book, I noticed something: Jillian Hart's heroines are always soft and gentle . . . yet strong enough to stand on their own (with God's help of course!) through hardships. I like that: showing that even strong women can be soft and gentle! :) That said, it goes really without saying that I enjoyed Cadence's character in this book. There were several times when I just wanted to give her a big hug. I also really enjoyed Ben, and didn't find him nearly as bitter and cynical as the back of the book made me expect. However, there were several times when I wanted to 'whup' him upside the head for being denser than a brick wall! haha
This is the only Jilian Hart book that I can recall making me cry. Perhaps I'm just really emotional right now, and most anything would have made me cry, but this book touched my heart and it gets a solid 4-star rating from me!

I felt that this book was, in a word, boring. And not because of the emotions and feelings which were good. It's just that...nothing happened. I could count on one hand the number of events that occurred. It seemed to just revolve over their regret for the past and their continued connection. There was no work for forgiveness, reflection on if they should have done something different, no working towards falling in love again. Just reflection on their lonely but decent lives since they were apart. Don't get me wrong, but the emotions are all there and pretty well conveyed, but I couldn't get into it without more events.

Another book from the Heartwarming collection. The beginning of the book was the most interesting and the best written. I found the writing hard to read, a bit jerky and forced. The story could have been so much tighter with less mind wandering between the hero and heroine. The story was a good one. A soldier returns home to recooperate and finds the love of his teenaged life has returned there too. Each begins their journey angry with one another. The teenaged dreams halted before life really began. Now they search for fulfillment together even though both are diametrically opposed to getting back together.

This story takes you into the world of Ben McKaslin.It examines the choices we make, sometimes because of what we think the other person wants, and then how we deal with it when things don't turn out the way we envision them. The military life and the world of olympic diving are also a part of the story. I read it quickly because it definitely held my interest. The emotional closeness I felt to the characters is what I enjoyed the most.

Ben McKaslin has to heal--his body, as well as his heart, when he encounters a previous love he never expected to see again. Cadence, too, has some healing to do and that only begins when she tells him what really happened to her when he thought she'd reached the pinnacle of success as an Olympic diver, but now is teaching swimming in her little hometown in Montana.

How each helps the other is the heart of this story. While the ending is predictable, how they get there is worth following.

Heaven's Touch is book #7 in the McKaslan series. The basic story is interesting, but it has become sort of boring. All the books so far have the same plot/story line/issues-- one of the main characters is a loner, and the other main character never wants to be involved with men again; both have secret, painful issues from the past.
The actual writing is done well enough, but a change in plot and characters would definitely improve the series and be more interesting.

The author forgot how the parents died from the 1st book Sweet Blessings: Amy: "dad died in a hunting accident and mom died 2 years later from lung cancer, a heavy smoker" chapter 12. You can't change something like that from book 1 to book 2: chapter 2 parents killed in a car accident. Some sentences had missing words or there would be extra words that made the sentence grammatically incorrect, though that seems to happen in a lot of the Love Inspired books.
