About the author

Ian C.P. Irvine

Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.

The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help but get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what would they do in that situation?

His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?

Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting voyage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that the lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.

Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it. He also invites you to email him and let him know if you did or did not enjoy the novel. And if you did, what were your favourite parts?

I have just read 4 books by this author in a row. These two fellow on from Haunted from within. The stories are so gripping. These last two books deal with "the others". Do ghosts exist? Do your last loved ones come to help you go when you die? The subject is fascinating. Also in these books is the worrying story of th crops. Truly scary. The book itself is fast joint and gripping. There are a lot of mistakes in grammer, spelling et c but even this did not spoil it for me. Can t recommend this writer highly enough. Brilliant!!

I read this book, not happy that the previous book in the series left me hanging. Guess what??? This one does the same thing. I thought this one moved faster than the first, but I'm still only rating it 4.3 stars. And because this one ticked me off, I don't plan to read any others in the series.

Another great read

I love the way Ian writes so many different stories in one book. It makes for a very thrilling read! I found the whole GM topic interesting and it has left me wanting to find out the truth about GM food/crops. I can highly recommend both of these books. I am off to find another of Ian's to read!!

Not to be missed.

This is the second of the series following on from Haunted from Within. Ideally should be read after Haunted from Within to keep the stories in order but can be read as one off, if desired. Would recommend the Omnibus versions of both books

I read “Haunted From Within” and then went straight over to reading “Haunted From Without. My kindle wouldn’t let me rate the first book (As in Stars) for some reason when I finished it so I’ll rate it here and give it 5 stars. Now, “Haunted from Without”. I’ve gone for 4 stars on this one as I don’t believe it was as good as the first one. I think that Mr Irvine went a little overboard on this one and more into spiritualism than possibly scientific fact. The fact that by taking a pill that allows you to see ghosts all over the place was fine but made the story completely fictitious to me where as the possibility of acquiring memories of an organ donor that you’ve received organs from seems in some ways more feasible. Anyway, you can’t read one book and not the other and all in all I enjoyed both books immensely. You kept me up till all hours Mr Irvine, just as well I’m retired.

Haunted from without is the sequel of Haunted from within. I love the prequel and also love this one. Personally, I think the story is a little out of science fiction but nonetheless, I love it. Actually I read book one and book two separately. But for the sake of this review, I choose to review both of them at the same place

The main characters still the same person which are Peter, Susie, Sgt Angus, and Alex. But there's many more than them. This time instead of focusing on one case like Haunted from within, there's several sub plot. But the main case is about Genetically Modified Seed and the corporation. Basically their seeds are flawed and they kill several people to hide the fact. It was really troublesome. This is not related to my review. But when I read this book, suddenly I remember about one book that I read in which the main characters are bad guy couple who want to make Genetically Modified Food legal and prosper. So, it was nice to see the other POV.

Once again Maciek appear in this story. To be honest, when I read that Maciek was crying at the end, it was quite a little out of character for him. Besides, there's also some implausible scenario. But I can overlook them because I really love it. It would be great if there's some twist in the end. But I suppose done incorrectly, it could make it worse. There's a little minor thing like wrong name, but I know who the author mean, so it doesn't bother me. Anyway, love smart Peter and Susie. Unlike Haunted from Within, in this story, Susie play some role especially regarding Serantopex and Dianzapol. Kudos for Mr Irvine.
