Having hit a rocky point in his marriage, Darnell decided to seek comfort in someone other than his wife. In turn, his decision to have one night of pleasure has caused an avalanche of events not only for himself but for everyone involved. Just when he chose to end it, he finds out that he has gotten more than he bargained for. Now he has to put the pieces of his marriage back together, but will it be too late?
This story and the character were both under developed! Where were the audio reviewer(s) for this audiobook. One minute she lived in a house, the next she lived in an apartment, then a house again....the friend was dating Quinton first, then she abruptly changed his name halfway through the story and started calling him Will....These were thirty-something professionals....in the first chapter Darnell spoke of his friend James never wearing condoms because James had six or seven kids with four mothers....Quinton introduces Darnell to Monique, a week later they have unprotected sex , they do all the things his wife won't do (Yes, that's right Darnell is married and everyone is aware)...Darnell and Monique participate in things that he just shouldn't do with a one night stand (yes, they agree that it will be a one night stand)....which turns into 1 more the next day in his office. She tells him she loves him ....from there things get crazy to me....The author never gave the impression that this character had mental health issues...the character Monique had all the signs and symptoms of someone with mental health issues....Darnell was this all around good guy...to his wife, son & friends and he make a bad decision to have a one night stand because he and his wife hit a rough patch after being together for 11 years and they fail to communicate with one another...The story made the wife look very selfish.... This story wasn't well developed at all! I'm won't give any spoiler alerts out....but, I was very unhappy with the remained of this story....The only reason I wanted to listen is I enjoy Emmanuel Ingram's narration style.
Damn, damn, daaammmnnn this book!!! I love me some Emmanuel Ingram but this book was triggering and totally pissed me off! I've been SMDH and cursing at Darnell and Monique. Ooohhh their story boiled my blood! All I can say is communication could have solved a lot (ALL) of their problems! 🤯🤯🤯 #NewToMeAuthor #NarratorMotivated #ShawnTaye #ShariPeele
This in my opinion was a solid debut novel. The author did a great job of developing the characters and their intimate involvement. The story moved very well. It was a really good depiction of what could happen when you communication and respect are not first and foremost in any relationship whether it be with yourself or a partner.
