Two worlds colliding can only spell disaster.

Everything was real. The ghosts. Monsters. Shadow. Now, I’m at Dementon, an academy of magic for Specials. They say I’ll be safe. They promise the ghosts and monsters won’t be able to get me here. But it’s not the dead and monsters I’m worried about. It’s General Raiden Hawthorne, the campus hottie and leader of Conexus, a group that polices my new world.

He’s as frustrating as he is beautiful, but there’s a pull in my chest for the enigmatic man. One I’m not sure I can keep denying, especially when he touches me. One that breaks my heart because it reminds me of Shadow, who’s finally had enough and has left me alone in a strange new world after telling me goodbye.

When the nightmares come and I’m pulled into the Veil, it isn’t Shadow who saves me. It’s him. Raiden.

I want answers and to move on, but I can’t until I know who Shadow is. When the vampire Nevron Blackburn says he has answers that could change my world, I’m faced with a choice: Join Nevron and become the enemy to the man I’m falling for or let Shadow go for good.

In my new world, there are no allies. Only grave secrets that could wreck me.

Grave Secrets is book three in The Everlasting Chronicles and is told from both Everly and Raiden’s POV.

HOLY MOTHER CHUCKER!!!

I have so much to say, but don’t know where to begin. This book hit me hard like a freight train and I loved it. It was everything and so very much more! Especially with a dual POV of Ever and Raiden aka Shadow.

Yep safe to say K.G. did it again, she sucked me into the book from the very beginning and had me reeling in the whole time, that even by the end I didn’t want to let go.

It might not make sense when I say this, but I am really at a loss of words of what to say. However at the same time I have so much to say, but don’t know where to begin.

HOLY HELL!
Raiden aka Shadow!
In Dead Silence, he was an enigma to me, only seeing a few glances/appearances from him, here and there that had my curiosity growing for him and about him.
But then when I read Shadow Song, that curiosity grew. Even though I got to learn about him, he was still somewhat of an enigma to me.
And now we’re here with Grave Secrets.
I have so many mixed emotions and feels for him and about him.
Once again seeing him playing the hero complex, sacrificing himself in the process. It definitely hurt and was hard for me to take in and see it all occur. And as much as I love him, he frustrated me at times with the decisions he would make, not realising that sometimes you have to do what’s best for yourself and not always others.

Ever
She definitely grew a little more into herself, though still had her issues/faults. But it was understandable considering all that she had been through. I enjoyed watching her grown and come into her own, even bringing out a little bit of sassiness and being a badass at times.

The relationship between Raiden and Ever with the constant tugging between them two was too much, but everything. Frustrating, annoying, loving, adoring, mind blow, beautiful and so much more.
There was just something to say about the chemistry between them both.
The sparks were, definitely there. You could just tell, as soon as they would come together. At time it was like watching a “chemistry experiment” taking place, when they would be having a moment, and just before the big reaction can occur, it would cut off and end abruptly, which had me internally screaming a lot. Since this tended to happen a lot. But there were a few times where the “chemistry experiment” full out exploded with fireworks and the shebang shooting out.
Like watching a volcano explode and erupt lava.
So damn hot, beautiful, sexy and steamy in a PG-13 version. And I loved it!

Other than that there was so much drama, tension and all sorts of craziness happening with issues. The emotions and feels from the previous two books were nothing compared to this book that’s for sure.
There were suspicions I had about a few characters from Dead Silence and Shadow Song and with this book those suspicions definitely grew. Leading to a whole new load of questions coming to mind, some of which remained unanswered by the end of the book. Making me even more anxious for the next book and what’s to come!

If the first three books are anything to go by, then I know for sure that the next book come hell or high water will destroy me completely and knock the other three out of the park! Which is why I say…
READ THE FREAKIN’ SERIES ALREADY, IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE SO!!!

In summary, reading the first 3 books made me feel like I was running on a treadmill. Stuck in one place but requiring an increasing amount of effort to stay on. The story chokes on the endless lies that are meant to conjure up new ways to keep the lovers apart. (And perhaps push this into an RH?) The lying and inability to give a straight answer to questions damaged my ability to like (and cheer for) Rainer or Ever.

I just wished the author would ease up the choke hold and let them grow. And stop letting them make useless empty promises... it’s off putting.

There are a few typos and continuity errors, but I could overlook this.

The review of books 1-3 have been combined and are the same. Why? I see books 1 and 2 as prologues. Book 1 (Dead Silence) is the prologue from Ever’s point of view. Book 2 (Shadow Song) is the prologue from Shadow’s point of view. I think it best to read both 1 and 2 to understand the perspectives and circumstances that will lead to book 3 (Grave Secret). However, it was long winded to have to read the same story twice, essentially. My growing annoyance with book 3 also made me question whether reading any of it was a good use of my time.

I have been waiting for this book forever! I love the push and pull of Raiden and Everly's characters. They are so complex and have secrets that are waiting to come out. I can't wait to dig into this story further. I could go on and on about this story (especially the characters, the twists, and so much more that you won't see coming), but I don't want to spoil it. It's amazeballs! 5 stars and 2 thumbs way up!!

Two worlds colliding can only spell disaster.
Everly
Shadow, my protector, is gone, and my heart aches. Thankfully, I’m supposed to be safe at Dementon, an academy of magic. But there are new dangers here. The biggest being Raiden Hawthorne, the moody Conexus general. Something about him calls to me. When he saves me, I find it harder to resist him. Before I can listen to my heart, I need answers to the questions he keeps dodging.
But the only one willing to provide any answers is Nevron, a vampire and Raiden’s enemy. Now I have to choose: join Nevron and become an enemy of the man I’m falling in love with or embrace the darkness to find out the truth of who I am.
Raiden
Having her close was supposed to make things easier. Instead, she’s befriending my enemies. I’m trying to keep my distance. I’m trying to stop loving the girl who could end our world. She wants answers that I can’t give her without risking her safety. If she ever finds out the truth, she’ll hate me. I’ve only done what I had to in order to protect what belongs to me.
We both have our secrets. I just hope mine won’t get her killed.
Grave Secrets is book three in The Everlasting Chronicles. Due to dark content, reader discretion advised.

Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with that adds so much to the story.
Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down.
Can't wait to read more from this author.

📖 My Thoughts

this book was so good. the feelings i had during it and after warranted an immediate five stars.
I don't even know where to start. we have new crucial plot points that can flip everything as we know it. our poor fmc just wants to do what needs to be done and go home. just more questions and confusion for her.

and our mmc...don't men ever get tired of being wrong? because i am done with this man and his decisions for the "greater good". blah blah blah, man up shadow daddy. Get in the car, we're going to war.

⚠️ Triggers

I read these books all in one go last week so the finer things are lost to me.
i recommend contacting the author to get a clearer list, she does have a reader group on facebook where you can ask questions.

I remember the time I started this series, I was super hooked on the blurb for the first book but a bit weary due to the content, I braved it and let me tell you, this series is pure GOLD. K.G. Reuss is a master at making the story flow even through its darkest parts, you’re going to feel for the characters like they’re a part of you, want to love some, punch some. This book starts the dual POV chapters, first book it was all about introducing Everly to us, her struggles, her victories, her spunk. Second book was Shadow’s take on how his life intersects with Everly’s, his life is filled with power plays, questions of loyalty and royalty, his view of the world is all in black and white, and despite his nickname, there’s no room for shadow’s in his eyes. Now for Grave Secrets. Everly is finally coming to terms with her nature, and how Special she actually is. One thing that’s never put into question here is her agency. She makes choices, and if those are taken from her, she fights and rebels and confronts it. After all she’s been through to get to Dementon, she will not let anything break her anymore, she stands her ground, she accepts that not all is at it seems, and when light shines in the dark, shadows will appear. Raiden is a confused mess, knowing he should trust his gut, and fighting it because it tells him to do things in a manner that goes against his sense for right and wrong, and makes it question his loyalty. Something is afoot in the realm of Specials, decisions by the governing body feel wrong, making one question who are the nice guys. A war is brewing, and it will break more than settled world views, it will break loyalties, spirits and most of all, it will break hearts. I just hope our beloved characters are strong enough to mend them in the end.

I am in love with this series....Everly and Raiden aka Shadow are such great characters. This book was action from the get go. Everly makes it to Dementon and that is where fun begins. Eric, Raidens second in command, has the task of training her and finding where her strengths are. No matter how hard Raiden tries, he can not stay away from her. And just when he had made his mind up and was going to be with her, their little happiness bubble was popped. There are forces that are going against them and they must learn to fight together and trust each other or all is lost. Not to mention the truths that Everly is now finding out about her family. This was so great. I can not wait for the next one.

This is book 3 of The Everlasting Chronicles and I absolutely loved this story and this series is only getting better and better as it goes along I love Everly’s and Raiden’s characters their relationship is complex but that’s because Raiden is hiding secrets from Everly but will he tell her everything because she is making friends with his enemy Nevron a vampire but I’m wondering if Nevron has his own agenda hmm we shall have to see. SO GOOD

I think this series just became my favorite of KG’s PNR! Everything about this book was perfection! I love love love Shadow, or Raiden whatever lol. He is definitely one of my favorite MMC’s. I really like Ever as well. I wish he would just tell her who he is already, it’s driving me nuts. Maybe in book 4 he’ll grow a pair and just tell her. There was a lot of crazy stuff going on in this book, probably because it’s the first one based completely at the school and where Ever doesn’t think she’s completely crazy. I’m very excited for book 4. Also Amara sucks.

This is the first book I have read in this series. You can read it as a stand alone, but the end makes you want to read the next one in the series. I thought the characters were well constructed and thought out to act like real teenagers even though they seem to have a lot of responsibilities. Although, Raiden acts a bit immature for the position he is in. Love makes us all act crazy. Anyway, the storyline was excellent and I enjoyed the book. I would recommend it.

Grave secrets indeed!!! Oh, the angst, the tension, the chemistry... Once again K.G. Reuss has woven an intricate tale of love, lies, secrets, betrayal, magic, non-stop action, adventure. Nothing is as it seems. To say it was an engrossing read, would be an understatement. I've been waiting forever for this third installment in the Everlasting Chronicles and I literally inhaled it in one sitting! Oh, how will I be able to wait for the next installment? I'm already having a withdrawal syndrom!!!

If you have read the first two books in this series then you were probably like me anxious for this book to get here. The Everlasting Chronicles series just gets better and better with each book, if that's possible. In this book we get Everly and Raiden's journey and they go through a lot. This page turning story is action packed and filled with unexpected twists. Great writing, intriguing characters and an ending that left me wanting more. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

The third installment in the Everlasting Chronicles has me just wanting to shake everyone and tell them to stop keeping secrets and just COMMUNICATE with eachother.... but, where's the fun and drama with that?!?! Everly is desperate to find out who Shadow is and is battling her attraction to Raiden. And broody Raiden is having a battle all of his own.... in comes the bewitching vampire with a tempting offer.
