She Lies Beneath – A Psychological Sinister Thriller
When someone is murdered, who takes the blame and the punishment? Yes, it's the one that committed the crime, right? But that is not always true; as when it comes to relationships, psychological and sinister manipulation can fragment the truth until someone else takes the blame. So, who killed the child? Who is convinced they killed the child? But who really killed the child? Who will be the one to pay the price?

Thank you Kate Mitchell for the review copy. Adley worships his wife Barbara and their daughters. Barbara has struggled to bond with their eldest daughter. She blames herself for her deformity and limp. Adley arranges a holiday in the sun with friends before Barbara returns to work following the birth of their twins. Then tragedy strikes and their lives will never be the same again. A dark and sinister thriller. Looking forward to the next installment.
This was a first for me with this author and I was not disappointed. A really well written story that held my interest and kept me reading to see what the ending would be. I also have to say the telling of a good author is for them to make you have feelings for the characters whether it be like or dislike, well I can safely say I hated Barbara, she was a rude, pretentious, privileged, jumped up pandered to spoilt brat. Hahahaha harsh I know but her character was despicable, now as for Adley I felt sorry for him in the beginning and warmed to him as a character, but as time went on I started to look on him as a bit pathetic and instrumental in how Barbara behaved as he basically pandered to her every whim. I won’t write about the storyline as this is the job of a blurb, but if the blurb grabs your attention and sounds like something you would enjoy then your in for a good read.
The grammar, spelling, writing - absolutely ATROCIOUS! I would have been pulled aside within a pre GCSE English class for this at school. The writing is that of a tween, let alone teenager or God forbid an adult.
The storyline was ok, but you could just read the Madeline McCann case online...
Absolutely terrible. I only read to the end due to a hell of a boring shift at work with nothing to do, praying that it might improve. It didn't.
What a brilliant book. I couldn’t put it down. When Adley first sees Barbara he knows he is going to marry her. It’s a strange relationship as Adley adores Barbara. She is a successful lawyer who want to be top of her game - even if it means defending those who are obviously guilty of murder. When Selah is born with a limp, Barbara finds it difficult to bond with her as she is not perfect, like Barbara tries to be. Following the birth of the twins and a holiday to Lanzarote, events happen that cannot be truly hidden. Such a great book with a great ending.
This was the first book that I have read by this author and I understand the book is part of a trilogy so I am looking forward to reading more. The book has a great plot and written in a way that will keep you interested in where the story is going. The main characters , Barbara and Adley are both hard working career minded people until there world falls apart around them. Do they deserve sympathy, probably not, they each have a dark side. I throughly enjoyed reading this book it was extremely well written, disturbing and sinister and I look forward to the next one.
The two main characters, Barbara and Adley are career people, caring about little else. To be honest, I found neither character likeable - Barbara is rude and spoilt and Adley a tad pathetic! They decide to take a family holiday to Lanzarote, where they experience a heart-breaking tragedy.
The book has a good plot, which kept my interest. This is the first of a trilogy, I plan to read the next two parts in the not-too-distant future.
There’s not much thrilling about this “thriller”. There’s never any suspense or tension.
SPOILER: An absolutely awful human being married a pathetic excuse of a man. They had children to ignore and neglect, until they killed one. I hated the characters. They disgusted me. There’s never any justice for the child.

This book was so maddening in so many ways 😂 But in a good way. I will absolutely be reading the next two books in the trilogy because the ending was not what I was expecting and I NEED TO KNOW wtf is going on. It's obvious from the beginning that Barbara is the absolute worst, but as someone who has a narcissistic mother, it hits different 🙃
Good story. The build up was too long imo. I struggled after the first 100 pages for quite a while. But it was still written so I needed to finish. Ending is not what I expected, so I liked that.
Could you ever love someone to much? Adley worships his wife Barbara and when she falls pregnant he is overjoyed Barbara not so much so as being a defensive lawyer her career means everything to her. When their daughter is born with a deformed foot Barbara can not and will not except her child and Adley is forced to hire a nanny to look after her. Two years pass and Barbara is pregnant again but this time with twins. The twin girls are born healthy and this pleases Barbara as in her mind she has produced the perfect blue eyed blonde haired babies. (Yes the character is that shallow). After a few months maternity leave Barbara is due back to work but before she returns Adley has arranged an holiday in Lanzarote with friends. But the day before they are due to fly out their nanny Alice has to rush to her family home as her mother is very Ill. Barbara is furious but Adley reassures her that they will still have a wonderful time After a couple of weeks Barbara is angry and frustrated and complains that they haven't been out once on their own and that everyone is going to the casino that night, can't they just leave the children alone for a couple of hours so that they can have some fun. Adley gives in and they have an amazing evening especially as Barbara won in the casino. What happens next is both real and heartbreaking and I didn't see the ending to this book.
Sinister is right! This is an amazing story that had me on the edge of my seat. Biting my nails and definitely turning pages. Compelling from the start, I could not put this down!

This is a superbly written story that kept me guessing and questioning what I thought I knew was going to happen till the very end. I loved this book, it’s a page-turner.
