Really great plant reference book with high quality images. I also really loved the beginning sections with how to create plant displays in an artistic way. Also enjoyed the several DIY displays outlined and hopefully will try some out soon :) But other than that very informative with a good plant glossary section. Really covered all aspects of plant care and will definitely reference it again for future plant babies.

I love houseplants, as I write this review, I own forty-three. However, I won't call myself an expert because I have so much more to learn.

To help build confidence in my hobby, I read (and will continue to read) this book. I highly recommend! Not only do you get plant profiles, but you get styling/design tips and the pros and cons of each houseplant.

Grab this one if you wish to love houseplants too.

This is a pretty good book for house plant novices. It's got a lot of information about different plants, ideas for how to display them and tips for keeping them alive. It also has lots of great photos as well as useful infographics, so it's not too dense a read.

Sometimes I think it goes into too much detail, for example, there is a 2 page spread on how to prune, feed, water and pamper your orchids in the hope that they might flower every 8 months... I just give mine a hot shower every week, and they are doing grand....
A few of the plant ideas also don't seem to be geared towards people with families, or...things in their houses, but at least this shows they have considered different lifestyles as well as light and shade and room humidity.

There are also a couple of typos, but now I'm just being pedantic.

This gave some helpful tips for how to successfully incorporate houseplants into your life. This is a great book for someone just starting out without much gardening knowledge. There were some fun crafts you could try (that didn't come across as overly cute or cheesy). I think what I most appreciated was the section at the end that offered various plant profile so you could see what look you preferred and got an understanding of how in-depth (or not) the care would be for that plant. I've got a nice list to work from... now we just have to wait and see if I can create the space I'm envisioning.

A beautifully presented book with stunning photography and easy to read guides throughout. Lots of inspiration for displaying houseplants including a brief section on wellness and air quality, as well as interesting project ideas and practical care advice for a range of popular and lesser-known plants. Highly recommended.

This is a really solid reference book for all things house plants - from cacti to ferns. I'd recommend keeping this around whenever you need to troubleshoot (brown leaves, moldy tops, no fruit) or if you're considering getting any new plants, as the plant profiles include optimal light conditions and maintenance that you'd need for each one. There are also some fun projects such as how to create a moss tableau, plant hangers or terrarium.

The only things I thought were superfluous were actually at the very beginning and had to do with the design of plant spaces, for example how to balance out the size of plants or balance colour. In my opinion, this is very straightforward. Chances are that if you're looking to make it pretty, you probably have an idea of what pretty means for you and the same type of advice applies to fields such as construction, architecture or interior decor.

Would recommend keeping this one around!

Those like myself who know little or nothing about indoor plants might find this a very useful book to peer through - for simple instructions in choosing which plants to keep, selecting individual plants at garden centres or shops, and caring for them. There is a fantastic catalogue section with various categories of houseplants laid out for browsing and enjoyment with a quick summary of each plant's characteristics and needs.

The strength of this book is how eye-catching it is. It is beautifully laid out and the pictures chosen are excellent. It is definitely geared towards the inexperienced - which is probably the right approach for them to have taken.

Would recommend to anyone with an interest.

Gorgeous book with beautiful and fun projects to try. The projects have very clear instructions. The discussion in the front of the book for design aspects was fairly basic, but everything is there to help you keep elements of design front-of-mind when planning out what you're doing with plants. The care discussion at the end of the book was clear and geared towards beginners. The section that dealt with common house plants and their requirements was simple and accessible.

I'll be bringing this book with me next time I go plant shopping to make sure I choose the right plants for my home.

With astonishing pictures of the plants, this book is able to gather the attention of the reader and once you start turning the pages, you get absorbed in the world of indoor plants.

It provides very fine detailing of how to plant, care and where to place it in home. The profile of the plants are also very interesting to read. The time and attention to detail the readers have put in this book is absolutely commendable.

Really liked this plant book. It's filled with lots of beautiful pictures and gives you lots of ideas of how to create plant displays along with DIY instructions. My favorite section is the plant glossary where you get detailed pictures and info on lighting and ideal growth conditions for indoor plants. Good reference book to keep on hand for the beginner to intermediate indoor gardener, who loves a variety of indoor plants (who doesn't??)

Beautiful design and high quality images. The pages are nice and thick. I love the plant index and care guides. I especially appreciated the fertilizer section. A helpful beginner to midlevel plant care book; also features interesting plant design ideas. The book does use a term for dieffenbachia that is now obsolescent; it would be cool to see this changed if there are future editions.

Pretty close to what I needed. A little pedantic and not exactly reassuring as a result. But the previous book I read gave me so much encouragement to just give it a shot that I will keep going with populating my home with plants. This book gives me an excellent list of plants to try, with their requirements simply stated, and some fun projects for variety.

I love the interior design aspect of it. I did not know if there’s so much the decorating our plans I like that has a whole section plant profiles. This book is a easy reading is a grateful to have on your coffee table. This is also a good book to give us a gift and it’s also good book to reference back on to learn more about plants and how to decorate with plants in your home.

Practical House Plant Book... a great resource for people just starting to bring house plants into their life. Well detailed, great images with each plant and wonderful descriptions of light levels, plant needs, and humidity requirements for each type of plant. It seemed to cover a wider range of house plants than I am aware of.

Decorating the living room of a house with a House Plant is an easy and relaxing way to experience the healing power of nature, especially for those who live in the city.

In my case, I do not incorporate House Plant because I can see mountains and palm trees from my living room window, but I wanted to incorporate a small fruit plant to put around my desk.

This book has a good overview of houseplants. The author doesn't give a lot of details on any one subject. I will admit that the carnivorous plant section caught my attention... not sure if I'm ready for such a plant though :)

Very useful book for houseplants, would strongly recommend as a starting point for anyone looking to get a houseplant or two! Gives a brief but instructive insight into the care of houseplants.
