Jill Shalvis is a NYT, USA Today, and Amazon Top 100 bestselling author of small-town romance and romcoms, known for big feels, found family, and plenty of shenanigans.

If you love small-town chaos, meddling friends and neighbors, sizzling chemistry, and heroes who fall hard for the one woman they absolutely did not plan on, you’re in the right place. Jill’s books blend laugh-out-loud moments with emotional gut punches, slow-burn tension, and deeply earned happily ever afters.

She writes the stories she loves to read: small-town romance and romantic comedies packed with heart, heat, second chances, grumpy/sunshine sparks, and the kind of found-family vibes that make you want to move right into the pages. Many of her series are perfect for binge-reading, and a number of her books are available in Kindle Unlimited and at major retailers.

When she’s not writing, she’s probably plotting new ways to torture her characters, avoiding laundry, or daydreaming about fictional men and the strong, complicated women who bring them to their knees—and then making them work for it.

You can follow Jill here on Goodreads to keep up with new releases, add her books to your shelves, and discover which small town you want to get lost in next.

Her Perfect Stranger had one thing I hate an annoying heroine. Hey, I am all for the feminist movement but I don't like a mule-headed heroine.
Corrine is an astronaut, and a commander on a space mission. She has made herself an "Ice-Queen" to her people. She plays down her femininity since she figures she's a woman and instead acts rigid sometimes. She spends an impulsive night with a stranger who turns out to be Mike, her new man on her mission.

Mike has returned to the States from Russia after many years and he's disappointed not to find the woman he spent the night with in the morning and shocked when she turns out to be his commander. Corrine treats him like a stranger and refuses to talk things out with him. I get it she had a professional image to maintain, but I hated her blowing hot and cold and couldn't for the life of me figure out what Mike saw in her and why he chased after her, when she insulted him, could-shouldered him and more.

Corrine had a perfectly normal childhood so that couldn't be a factor. Having a drive for success is all well and good but I never warmed up to her much. For me a heroine has to be good.

I liked how they showed the space aspects though and Mike.

Good fast read. Corinne and Mike are interesting characters, and it's fun to watch the sparks fly :) I enjoyed that she was ranked higher than she was; that was a neat twist on things.

Previsible. Lo de siempre. Pero en la NASA.

I always thought that meeting someone for the very first time and feeling an instantaneous sexual attraction is kinda sexy, not to mention kinky! That’s why I have really enjoyed Jill Shalvis’s “Her Perfect Stranger”. I have had so much fun reading it because some scenes of the story were really humorous especially the part where the hero and heroine were caught having sex in her office.

Mike Wright had felt an immediate sexual attraction the minute he saw Corrine across the hotel pub, and couldn’t help himself when Corinne approached the bar to order a drink, and offered his seat to her as an excuse to start a conversation. Soon, they hit it off and were blatantly flirting with each other. Next thing he knew, they were sharing a night together because he offered to share his room with her. For one night only…no strings attached…and no names needed. Just to satiate their hunger for each other.

Corrine Atkinson have never felt instantly attracted to anyone…let alone by any means sexual, like she was having with this gorgeous guy whose obviously flirting with her. Although her line of work was mostly dominated by the male species, she’s never been particularly attracted to any of her co-workers or any man in general. But she has to admit she’s finding herself really attracted to this one and contemplating already on having a one nighter with him. She’s never one for any kind of relationship because her time was mostly being consumed by her job. She thought that one night stands suits her lifestyle best. So she decided for one night only…she can have a scrumptious sex with her perfect stranger. Little did she know the next day that it would turn out her perfect stranger may not be a stranger after all.

This story was funny, sexy and really, really entertaining. I could still remember the scenes in the story when they both showed up for work and realized they were going to be working with one another. That one was really momentous the minute they recognized each other, it was really fun to watch! And the heroine was the boss for a change, which truly topped the story line. I so totally loved it!

An older Shalvis I bought at a used book store. I enjoyed quite a bit of it, including the unusual job of main characters (astronauts), though I did struggle with the heroine at times. Her cold attitude worked in a professional capacity, but I would have liked to see her warm up more on the personal side.

I love Jill Shalvis so I really hate only giving this one 2 Stars. I think the reason I didn't love it was because it was 10+ years old and followed the style of the day, in addition, it was written for Harlequin Temptation which has it's own constraints.

It wasn't a bad book by any means but the story and the characters didn't really grab me.

¿Queeeeeeee?

No voy a recomendar este libro nunca jamás... De hecho, lo voy a desaconsejar.

Protagonistas: Mike Wright y Corrine Atkinson
Argumento:

I did not enjoy this book. I felt like neither character was really explored and Carinne's valid concerns about her career prospects were not addressed. The best part was the first encounter and then it all fizzled afterwards.

love at its best

Loved the characters and the way their love grew even though they were in a difficult situation. Learned a lot about struggles of being an astronaut.

I didn't like this much. The story was predictable, the plot was lacking, and the characters are annoying. Especially Corrine.

The story was unbelievable. Even at this century, there is no decent woman who would actually have sex with a stranger, no matter how handsome or proper he is.

For the characters, Corrine just keeps on pushing Mike away just because of her work reputation. I know that it's not okay to be in a relationship with a co-worker (that prohibited, right?), but Corrine is so lustful and just so stubborn that it became annoying in the middle of the book. It is inevitable that she will end up with Mike, it's so clear right from the start, yet she tries to deny her feelings for him.

Mike is actually kind of likable. He's caring, thoughtful, and he didn't give up on Corrine even though the stupid woman kept on pushing him away. He also didn't have any trouble working under Corrine, it didn't hurt his pride or whatsoever.

"How come you're so perfectly made?" she asked seriously, lifting her hand to run her finger over the muscles that twitched with her every touch.
"God designed man this way so despite our stupidity, women couldn't resist us. Is it working?"

Yes. I like the way this guy thinks. If only all men were like him... aware of their stupidity. The world would be a better place.

There's only--I think--three characters involve here directly. Louisa (Corrine's mom), Mike and Corrine. This book also lack character development.

So yeah, 2 stars pretty much sums it all up.

Author: Jill Shalvis
First published: 2002
Length: ~2200 kindle locations
Setting: Contemporary. Huntsville, Alabama and Houston, Texas.
Sex: Somewhat hand-wavy. Reasonably explicit at times. Infrequent.
Hero: Astronaut (pilot).
Heroine: Astronaut (commander).
Trigger: sexual harassment.

Strong woman, independent, in command. Portrays herself as the Ice Queen. If only she smiled more, says her would-be suitor.

Carefree but determined Hero who goes after what he wants. And he wants her. Respects her as a leader, but wants her to display her interest in him in public. So much for no fraternising.

There’s this interesting, sexy story of a work romance with her the titular boss (they are a “team”).

But he undermines her. And sexually harasses her. Touches her constantly, Approaches her for sex, constantly. Confronts her. Taunts her.

And she does not have him up on charges. Because this is what women have come to expect. That, no matter what they do or what they say, men will seem them as sexual beings first and colleagues second.

2.5 stars rounded down. Because it was sexual harassment. And I can’t forgive it.

As a man, you can't help yourself, you're just a helpless slave to your body's cravings. Will that help you sleep at night?
- Corrine
He was someone she could have allowed herself to care for, if she ever allowed such things. But she couldn't, at least not now. Some other time, perhaps...
- Corrine
She'd always told herself that someday she'd allow Prince Charming into her life, but the tuning was never right. But damn it, when? When would it be right?
- Corrine
She was simply no good at matters of the heart.
- Corrine
She couldn't even look at him without having that stupid, adolescent, weak-kneed reaction, and it was really making her furious.
- Corrine
I don't know what's happening to my perfectly planned out life. I can't concentrate, can't think, can't do anything except daydream about you, and——it's all your fault.
- Corrine
It's funny because I'm having the same problem. And I was pretty certain it was all your fault.

I reckon this would have been that much better if the characters' potential was raised just a tad more. It was sexy to see the whole "strangers stranded in the rain" kind of kink played out, and even more intriguing once we find out they are to be co-workers, and then utterly awesome to see her as his superior in rank. That's ticking off a lot of good points already. I just feel that Corinne wasn't set up as well in her development—as if she herself wasn't quite convinced that she wanted the relationship with Mike, but was only doing it because the author was coercing her to. Strange as that sounds.

Never dissapointed by Jill Shalvis!!! Her Perfect Stranger wasn't any different! Corrine is a eoman advancing in a male dominated industry and felt she must be tough and utterly unlikable to maintain her position. One night of letting her guard down with a stranger and her whole life goes crazy, or so she thinks. Mike, her stranger, ends up loving the fact that she has changed his life. A cute story of letting down the walls of career to truly find happiness.

One wild night, in a hotel room with a perfect stranger, just what the both needed before the hard work of preparing for a spacestation mission.

Corrine is the commander of the team and Mike is the pilot. Can he accept a woman in charge and can she let down her defenses long enough to be loved?

Character building and progression is the strength of this story and a trade mark of Shalvis. It was well done as the story plodded on.

I never tire of Jill Shalvis. Decided to pick up an older read while I wait for It Had to be You. Loved it. I always become involved with her characters from the get-go.

Not sure why others rated lower. The heroine was mule-headed, but she had to be since she works in a "man's" world. There ARE mule-headed people out there... just made it more real for me.

Read in one night - don't do that very often. :)

I never liked the heroine from the start, there's a difference between being an ice queen and being plain cold. She was the latter. Constantly playing with Mike's feelings and blaming him for everything she felt was going wrong. She didn't even have any reason to act the way she did as everyone respected her, though didn't really like her much. I don't think i'll be reading this one again unfortunately

This was a short, intense read. There was a LOT of conflict (mostly internal), but it worked with the shorter format. I understood the push-and-pull between the hero and heroine (who were both astronauts, btw: points for creativity). The heroine was pretty prickly but it didn't bother me too much, given her career.

This is my least favorite book by Jill Shalvis. I had a really hard time getting through it. This story was just...boring, in lack of a better word. Really bummed about that since out of the 14 Shalvis books I bought yesterday, this was the one I was looking forward the most to read.
