Amy Taylor and Colt Harman were riding Walter, the appaloosa, as fast as the critter could carry them. They had one destination – the Taylor Way Station.
“Are you sure we have to go this fast, Colt?” a still somewhat distressed Amy asked the Wells Fargo guard.
“I’ve learned one thing about outlaws over the years,” Colt answered back with his speech a bit halted by riding on Walter. “You can never tell what outlaws will do. Most of them are yellow bellied cowards. But a few of them are crazy enough to do anything.”
“You really think they'd come after us now?”
“Pardon me for saying this, Amy, but there are men who would put down a pretty penny for you to work for them. Well, not exactly work. More like slavery.”
“The Mexican man said they would make hundreds selling me,” she remembered and shuddered. But the young woman recomposed herself. “We best keep riding hard. Let's go, Walter!”
Can a young woman, who works at Wells Fargo Stagecoach Company attacked by the Morgan gang, help cowboy Colt stop the bunch of criminals?
Young Colt Harman has had an abusive hard life. His father was a hard drinking man who didn't take of his family, he mistreated them. He's now forty-two years old and works for Wells Fargo as a security guard. In other words he rides the "shotgun seat." The stage driver name is Tumbleweed Maddox( love that name). There next stop before they reach Albuquerque, they'll stop at the Taylor Way Station, for refreshments and change of horses. But it seems as they approach there's something wrong, the young son of the Taylors is in tears, the Way Station was attacked by the Morgan Gang, who kidnapped his sister "Amy." Colt and Peter go after the gang, and catch up with them and rescued Amy. But one of the brothers Stillman Morgan(crazy bogger)seeks revenge . This western adventure contains the normal misery and pain. Also there are the good times that this author describes. You got some ugly craziness going on, men so angry and revenge driven that they will dynamite the entire town, until they free Stillman Morgan's brother from jail. How screwed up this Stillman Morgan has become..
I found myself asking that question repeatedly as I read about everything Colt went through as a Wells Fargo guard. He faced all the trials the trails in the West could throw at him and still managed to keep going. When does the luck run out? There’s romance, outlaws, Western gunfights and everything in this book, but in the end, everything is wrapped up nice and pretty, just the way I like it when I read these types of books. The fun is getting to the end, wondering how it’s all going to turn out. You know there’s going to be a happy ending. The fun is getting to that ending.
A WB. Texas/New Mexico Western Action Adventure (A) (ACWN)
WB. has penned a Texas/New Mexico western action adventure titled, "Amy' which begins with an attempted stage coach robbery. The robbers set the robbery up by killing the two adults, kidnapping the daughter while the brother was in the cellar and killed a robber when he tried to break in. When the stage arrived they thwarted the robbery and the stage guard went after the girl. This is the beginning of the end of a serious gang and the beginning of a new life for others. This is an excelkentread for the genre.....DEHS
I noticed it summarized a lot what the writer already showed, but I limed the characters so finished reading. For instance it kept telling what the reader already knew. Colt and Reynolds did this. Arlo and his brother did this. We as readers know because the author showed us. I felt like it need not be resummaeized in the writing constantly. I really liked the characters though. It surprised me Colt did not become sheriff of the way station... Smokey his deputy.
Colt was a shotgun rider for Wells Fargo Stage Line , he was the last defense to keep bad men, sometimes evil men from robbing the stages and the passengers safe. There were always had men, men who didn't want to work for their money, but looked for the easiest way to acquire their money by taking from some one who looks to be an easy mark. Some found out that messing with Wells Fargo was the wrong thing to do. Great Old Fashioned Western .
Yes we need books that are action packed.Your story lines was right on.The caretors was most energize on the meaning of personal caractor. We of the Americans have lost what our farther set this country up as.Do right an help one another in times of need.
Give life to the west. You have the in sight what a man should be up standing And to show young men what it’s like to stand up for what’s right .
Never ending suspense and danger. A really good read. In fact, the book would make a great TV series.
I gave this book 4 stars because the story line was really good, well balanced, and the main players were well described without being too wordy. I think there needed a little more romance. Very good humor to be sure. I would w recommend this novel to everyone who loves reading really good western stories
Colt faces many situations with men wanting to kill him!
Colt has a very determined enemy who is very mean. Colt has to capture him and all his gang members. The murderer regrouped three times trying to kill colt. Some things are very diabolical.
Amy by William Black. I enjoyed reading this book. It's the first I've read of this author. I'll be looking for more. I loved the characters and the storyline of this book. It's got everything you look for in a good western.
This was a great action packed adventure that keeps getting better as it goes along. The characters were pretty much straightforward and the most logical conclusion that could , happens.
Young folks making a life for themselves in young Texas was hard work. I wouldn't have wanted to trade places with them. I thought I backyard enough in my youth. William Black brings his characters to life. I think you'll enjoy this as much as I did.
This is the sort of book I enjoy. Christian men using the Word properly to live their lives and to impact those around them. They are living the sermon instead of preaching it.
A great story any way you look at it. Truly evil men and their destructive ways. So glad goodness and the Christian way prevail. Thank you for your stories.
While this story had an adult theme with some colorful language it seems that Mr. Black may have been sharing the story of redemption. His scripture references were inspiring and built encouragement in this story.
As usual, another good book! Loved Amy! Strong women are the best! Characters were believable, story grabbed me from the word go and the writing was excellent! Black did it again! Bring on more!
