August Rylan has more money than he knows what to do with, and more secrets than anyone man can keep. He’s a public figure— a billionaire business genius and eligible bachelor—with no personal life, and he likes it that way. Tragedy has followed August throughout his life, and by the time he meets Nashville Jacoby, the secrets he’s harboring aren’t just sad, they’re dangerous.

Nashville is a nurse from the Deep South—the consummate country girl. She works hard, takes care of her family, and dreams of a simple life. She’s drawn to August, despite his refusal to open up to her, his intimidating fortune, and his controlling tendencies. He’s not only mesmerized by her physical beauty, he’s enthralled by her kind heart and sassy honesty. Their intense sexual chemistry surprises them both, and soon they’re locked in a passionate love affair. When August’s secrets finally catch up with him, however, their relationship isn’t the only thing that’s at stake. Someone from the past wants revenge on August and isn’t afraid to destroy the one thing August’s money can’t buy—the woman he loves.

Armed with books in the crook of my elbow, I can go anywhere. That’s my philosophy! Better yet, I’ll write the books that will take me on an adventure.

My heroes are a bit broken but will make you swoon. My heroines are their own kick-ass characters armed with humor and a plethora of sarcasm.

If I’m not tucked away in my writing den, with coffee firmly gripped in hand, you can find me with a book propped on my pillow, a pit bull lying across my legs, a Lab on the floor next to me, and two kittens running amuck.

My current adventure has me living in Idaho with my own gray-bearded hero, who’s put up with my shenanigans for over thirty years, and he doesn’t mind all my book boyfriends.
If you love romance, suspense, military men, lots of action and adventure infused with emotion, tear-worthy moments, and laugh-out-loud humor, dive into my books and let the world fall away at your feet.

A stubborn, feisty, independent southern girl. A handsome billionaire, with no time for relationships. A super steamy romance between two opposites. Throw in deadly secrets, revenge, kidnapping and murder. NEXT AUGUST is an emotional, erotic, action-packed read.

I love Kelly Moore's heroines. She writes tough, spirited women who can give as good as they get.
"What kind of name is Nashville?" I ask, just to try to change the subject.
"What kind of name is August?"
Damn, this woman cuts me no slack.

Nashville is no pushover and definitely knew how to throw some sass.

"I've been desolate since you left."
"Desolate." She snorts. "Try another word."
"It means..."
"I know what the f*** it means. I want you to say something more human!"

A very entertaining read. In the future I would love to read a story about August's close friend, the sweet and charismatic Sam, and see more of August & Nash.

• BOOK: can be a Standalone but Book #2, THIS AUGUST is about the same H & h. Full length.
• POV: Dual first person
• STEAMINESS: 4.5/5 - lots of hot sexy scenes
• ENDING: HFN. No Epilogue. No major cliffhanger.

I would rather run a marathon than read more about August also known as the-rich-dude-who-owns-a-private-aiport-but-it's-not-a-big-deal. It was super annyoing reading about how rich and hadsome he is over and over again.

The story was rushed, I didn't feel any connection between the characters, they both acted silly and were too perfect for me.

On the outside August has it all. He is handsome and wealthy and he has several homes and great cars. He is successful in everything he does. Not many people know the grief that August has to deal with on the inside. Losing his mother in a car accident left him and his father broken. August's father also hurt other people in that same accident, but managed to walk away from any legal obligations. When August found out he was determined to pay the dues for the wrongs his father did. August doesn't let anyone come close when it comes to a romantic relationship. He feels that he is too damaged to be the person a woman needs. That is until he meets Nashville.

Nashville is a nurse and a country girl at heart. She works long hours and sends as much money as she can to her parents. Her parents own a ranch in Nashville and are struggling to keep up with all the bills. Nash lives together with her best friend Anna, who is also a nurse. They love to go rock climbing together. At the top of a climbed rock Nash meets August. Nash is instantly drawn to him and when August hurts his hand on the way down she doesn't hesitate to tell him to go to the hospital, so Nash can take care of him.

August is such a sweet and kind man and he gives more than he takes. He spends a lot of money to make the lives of other people better. He feels guilty about the accident which killed his mother. Because of his guilt he still takes care of his father who is in a catatonic state after a stroke. August can be stubborn, dominant and controlling, but he needs this for his own survival. He is a person I instantly loved and who captured my heart with his kindness.

Nash has always been a good daughter to her parents. She works hard and is loyal. Nash is also funny and feisty. August's millions don't faze her. She is her own person and manages to take care of herself really well. I loved the fact that Nash didn't let August dominate her. She isn't a pushover and demands to be treated well. Nash has a good heart and is willing to do what needs to be done to save the people she loves.

Next August is an amazing story about grief, love and finding the strength to let people in again. Kelly Moore never lets you down with her strong and deep characters. August is an Alpha male who finds his equal in Nash. They truly complete each other. This story captivated me from the beginning. Kelly Moore's writing style flows so naturally that I flew through the pages. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. Next August is an emotional read with so much love, I'll remember this story for a very long time.

The Goodreads group Shut Up & Read (Read It & Reap) provided a copy of the ePub in exchange for an honest review.

Next August by Kelly Moore is a most enjoyable contemporary romance. Billionaire August Rylan lives in a protective self-made bubble determined not to get hurt and he does not allow himself to have meaningful relationships. Control could be his middle name until he meets Nashville Jacoby. The chemistry between Nashville and August is instant. The characters feel real, their voices are strong and identifiable. Nashville and August share their feelings via their individual points of view. The plot is fast moving with many unexpected twists and turns. This character driven read does not disappoint. The story unfolds as August’s many painful secrets are revealed. Will Nashville be the one person to help him release the pain and move forward? Next August is an entertaining afternoon read.

August is a man that seems to have it all and radiates alpha, but inside, he is a broken man in need of healing. He has been through so much that he runs from any emotion. When he meets Nashville, August cannot explain away how drawn he is to her.

Nashville doesn’t give him an inch and breaks down the wall he has built between himself and the world. She is sassy, but she is caring.

I loved how their romance unfolded and the difficulties they had to work through. I do not want to spoil this story for future readers, but it is an amazing story. I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed it. I like the fact that both of the main characters are equal in all aspects of the relationship. Nash is a traditional southern woman with southern values. She is an astonishing, warm caring person. August is not the traditional alpha male. I think that is what I enjoyed most about the story. I liked the realism in this book. It's a great love story. A realistic love story.

I received this book from Author Groupies . I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

August seems to have more money than sense , he seems more ruthless than compassionate BUT don't judge  him to harshly , under that facade is a man with heart 💟

Sam and his mum share a  special relationship with August, I actually want to say that they're the only people that get a small glimpse into the real man August is .

He carries alot of hurt and resentment and I think it's the reason  he comes across as aloof , it's self preservation , but his world is about to change when Nashville comes his way.....

Nashville, what a dear sweet soul . She's kind , caring , compassionate  and a heart filled so much to give.  She also had an adventurous spirit.  While rock climbing she meets August and Sam.....my world finally has meaning 😂😘😜

Sam is a card 😂😂😂 that kid has no filter and man what a flirt!!!! He's the push that August and  Nashville need, thank you Sam you're the best 💟💟

The past comes back to haunt August and threatens all he holds dear but never underestimate the power of love and family 💟

Next August will stay with you . You get so invested in the characters and their lives.

A highly recommended read 📚

The August series is nothing like the Broken Pieces series, but it is equally amazing! August is a man wealthy beyond comprehension. Nashville (Nash) is a nurse working hard to pay off student loans and supporting her parents. During a rock climb, August is hurt and goes to the hospital to be treated. The sparks flew immediately between him and Nash, with promises of hot passion simmering beneath the surface. It might be insta-lust, but August isn't a relationship type of guy. He harbors some secrets and isn't ready to share more of himself than what he's given Nash.

I loved how controlling August was, but he meets his match in Nash, who calls August out on his controlling tendencies. When secrets are revealed and Nash is put in danger, there's nothing August won't do to get her back. But is it enough? Will he let her in? This story was fleshed out well - I really enjoy that the characters are strong and capable. It was sexy, sizzling hot, and so wonderfully done. You can't help but fall in love with them too. I'm looking forward to more of this series!

Awesome story!!

Lots of feels in this story!! The two main characters have strange names but I guess that's why fate brought them together the day they met rock climbing.

August Rylan is a strong gorgeous alpha male , owns his own company, has more money then he needs but he has deep dark secrets from his past. August could have any woman he wants but once he meets Nashville, she's all he needs.

Nashville (Nash) Jacoby is a nurse, raised in Tennessee and enjoys the simple things in life. August Rylan is not a simple man. August hires Nash to take care of his father but she's the only person Tom Rylan has ever responded to.

A lot of twists in this story with passion, heart breaks, sadness, suspense and mystery. Great writing by the author. Looking forward to her other books!

Amazing chemistry between August and Nashville! These two are a complete description of "opposites attract". Blond haired, blue eyed, "Southern belle", named after her father's favorite place in the world, Nashville. Rich, city slicker named after his mother's favorite time of year, August. They meet doing the one thing they have in common, mountain climbing. He may have been raised in wealth, but he struggled through his childhood and once he reached his adult life, he spent every moment fixing his father's messes and saving his business. She was raised on a loving farm and has been working hard to help her parents keep it running. Their chemistry pulls them together as he struggles with his personal life and ends up pushing them apart, until he realizes she is worth changing for.

4 Stars!

I have to say, this is not what I expected when I read the blurb.

Next August is an erotic, emotional, read with lots of action, sexy scenes and danger. The book was a good read that kept my interest. I loved August, the fact that he looked like he had it all but really he was kind of a mess. Nashville "Nash" is strong, quirky and handles August like a champ. These two are hot, sexy fun. The added danger and revenge aspect added nicely and sort of explained why August is the way he is. I loved how August went from clinical and closed off until Nash forced him from his protective shell and gave us a glimpse of what is underneath.

Emotional, fast-paced and engrossing read!

Hot Damn!

I am loving Kelly's books. Her writing draws me in and I am a goner. Who needs sleep? Next August was another book that I couldn't put down till I finished it. I can't wait to read This August and Seeing Sam. I loved August, Sam, Nash and Anna. Next August has a little bit of everything in it. Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster ride. I got teary eyed so you might want some tissues nearby. Next August is worth reading and even though August might piss you off at times, he is also swoon worthy.

I absolutely loved this story!
So much emotion and feelings. Nash and August meet by chance while rock climbing. The attraction is instant but August isn't so quick to trust his feelings. With someone out to hurt August in the worst way possible, neither he nor Nash know if they can make it work.
It's definitely 5 stars!

really enjoyed this book. August & Nashville have a rocky relationship. He is trying to protect her from harm by keeping secrets. Nash feels she can't trust him. I liked how August's father formed a bond with Nash and responsed to her. I really liked Sam's character. This book is about love, forgiveness and healing.

3 volatile stars for NEXT AUGUST.

August Rylie is one of the youngest billionaires in the country, he's also completely antisocial and awkward. When he meets Nashville Jacoby, he's literally speechless. He's immediately entranced by her, so he does the only thing he can think of to get close to her…hire her as a live in nurse for his father. Nashville was raised on a farm and longs for a peaceful, simple life, and from what she can tell, nothing about August's life is peaceful or simple. He's controlling and moody and kind of crazy, but she falls for him nonetheless. August and Nash are totally different people from different worlds…do they even have a chance of making things work?

NEXT AUGUST is the first novel in the Next August series by Ms. Moore, and I went back and forth about whether I liked it. On the one hand, my empathy for August in the beginning made me want to just hug and love him. I actually thought he might be on the autism spectrum with some of his actions…then he turns into this controlling creep. Nashville was a decent character, but she went hot and cold so quickly, leaving August so many times throughout the story that it turned me off. This happened over and over to the point where it got very annoying, and I wound up thinking that maybe they really were better off apart.

The heat between them was excellent though, and I liked that there was a thread of suspense (even if it felt like an afterthought most of the time). I can see people absolutely adoring this book, but for me it missed the mark on a lot of levels.

Bottom Line: No OM/OW or sharing; mixed condom use; mild BDSM/kink; no sexual assault; mild violence, murder.

I am so incredibly excited to have just read Kelly Moore’s upcoming novel, “Next August!” I fell in love with Kelly’s writing and characters reading her Broken Pieces series and this new novel does not disappoint. Breaking away from her series, Moore tells a romantic and suspenseful story about August and Nashville.

I loved, loved, loved everything about this book. August is an incredibly adorable character and even during his stubborn or ugly moments you can empathize because of the things he has experienced. The only real closeness in his life has been with Claire, Sam, and his housekeeper Stella. He has paid for the best medical care and therapy for Sam, runs background checks on Claire’s potential dates, and respects and pays his employees very well. Nashville is also amazing with her southern charm and stubbornness, and how clear she makes it to August that she doesn’t want his money. Not only does she fall in love with August, she becomes very attached to his father who has suffered a stroke and not responded to anyone until Nashville came into his life. Nashville changes August in that she forces him to be open and honest but also makes him feel safe in doing so.

“Next August” not only has characters that you truly find yourself invested in, but there is a perfect balance of romance, conflict, and suspense. So often in billionaire romances, there is a lack of realism where the man can just drop his entire life and only focus on winning the girl. One thing I love about Kelly’s writing is that her characters are realistic, they have jobs they go to, they get sick, etc. Kelly Moore has such a smooth and easy writing style that you just sail through reading, enjoy an escape from reality, and get lost in the story. I was blown away by how fantastic this novel is and cannot give it enough praise. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to read an exciting and different romance novel.

August who started out as a hard man to like, with a laser like focus on his business life, only showing he cared by taking responsibility for those who he was closest to, grew into a man who could finally show his heart . The author did a fine job of creating a character who grew as the story did, from nearly unlikable to endearing. He grew from stern to silly and laughable...Nashville brought the good man in him out.

This is the first book by this author I've read, at first I didn't know if I cared for the writing. August was so stiff and had a dead like personality...shaped by his history. But as the story grew, so did he. The author showed her writing wherewithal through August's transformation. Her characters were fluid, with depth to their personalities. I truly enjoyed the range of characters she created, from the good, to the ugliest life has to offer. This was really storytelling at its finest.

Every time I see a new Kelly Moore book I get so excited! This one was no exception, I loved it from the moment I saw the cover. Having fallen in love with Moore's writing from reading the Broken Pieces series I was so looking forwards to getting my teeth stuck into this one and as usual, I was not left disappointed.

To the outside world, August Rylan appears to have it all, good looks, more money that he can spend, a booming business but he hides a dark secret and it soon becomes apparent that his life hasn't been as easy as it looks from the outside. August hires feisty country girl Nashville and definitely gets more than he bargained for. He has to decide what is more important to him, his persona or the girl who has captured his heart.

The book is filled with wonderful characters, witty writing and a story line that keeps you hooked.

I wish there were more romances like this one!

You know what I really liked about this book? It wasn't just the romance, or the great plot, or the the compelling story. What was so refreshing and wonderful about this book was that it was a book about characters I actually cared about and liked, who have a relationship that isn't totally dysfunctional. I'm serious! So many romances today are all about alpha male types who are selfish, self-centered, and really cruel. The author here has created a appealing, alpha character who is sane, kind, giving . . . AND as sexy as hell. What a great book! I wish there were more like it.

I received an arc copy of the book for an honest review.

This was the first book I have read of Kelly's and I really enjoyed her writing. The book has a great balance of romance, lust and suspense. The ending was nail biting and I loved how Kelly developed the relationships between the characters.

I really liked Nashville as a female character. She wasn't afraid to show her real feelings and question August's behaviour. They were a super sweet yet hot couple.

Not your typical billionaire romance. I look forward to reading more of her work.

I needed a change of writing style. I went back to one of my favorite authors. I was looking to read something with passion, suspense, mystery and humor. I found all of that and more in Next August. Kelly Moore is an amazing author and I love her style of writing. She is one of my go to's. I'm looking forward learning more about the main characters and Sam and Anna as this series progresses.
I fell in love with the main characters. They both came from completely different worlds. August was rich. He didn't have anwant or a need, but had lots of secrets.
Nash enjoyed the simpler things in life. She didn't put up with August's pushy controlling ways. She was fiesty and had no problem with putting August in his place.
August and Nash have one strong sexual connection through all the ups and downs they relationship faces.
Nash tries to get August to trust her and to work through the many walls he's built.
I found it sad that the only way for her to get him to realize the errors in his ways was for her to walk away. August made several life changing decisions in the end. He decided to get his life in order by selling his company and home and changing location. He downsized when he bought his new home with thoughts of a future with August.
Rock Climbing is how they first found each other and its what brought them together in the end.
Next August is another must read by Kelly Moore. You won't be disappointed.♡

Mixed bag...for me at least.

Let me start by saying, I'm really NOT a huge fan of the whole "billionaire" genre. That being said I really, REALLY hated August through most of this book - he was the quintessential Rich Boy - and the Author had to tell us over and over again in many wordy sentences, that turned into paragraphs, that turned into pages - about his wealth, his privilege. August himself did no favors in my eyes by basically trying to "buy" Nash's affection.

Now, I have to say I LOVED Nash - she stood up to August when she felt he'd gone to far. But she was so hot & cold (whiplash) - then she'd cave into his demands or him paying off her parents mortgage, etc. I mean I get that she was in love and all those feels and I loved their connection when they were actually on the same page.

Overall, I stayed in the story for Nash - and by the end I did see some growth in August - so they had a HFN ending

Healing is what Kelly Moore masterfully writes into the entertaining delivery of stories she crafts. Her characters are dynamic, you get to know them more as you read and miss them long after the story ends. I think the August Series is even better than her previous Pieces Series. ALL tragedies have personal components; they affect others around us. Moore cleverly weaves the parallel message that personal tragedies are really not solely personal through her characters. Characters tell the story of how every life event directly or indirectly influences the outcomes of other lives. Tragedy affects ALL those connected to the ones we love and care for deeply. Main character August Ryland has unresolved personal tragedy to heal, secrets that plague existing relationships as well as endanger his new relationship with Nashville as they fall in love. I say well done. Your books allow me to escape under the guise of entertainment but also challenge me to reflect on my own humanity. Thank you for such a good read Kelly Moore. --geneva

So this book was just OK for me. (I sounded like Randy Jackson in my head just then.) It was an interesting story overall, but there were some copy editing issues (word usage problems), the sex scenes almost felt fade-to-black (but they weren't... just no real details and super fast, I guess?), and I kinda got tired of Nash running away. On the one hand, I understood her getting pissed at August, but she thought it was over so many times while still professing her undying love for him. Things ended up in a good place, but I'm honestly not interested in reading more about Nash and August, so I won't continue with the series.
