A Royal Mess
First she's bumped from first class to coach, then she's robbed, gets soaked in a rainstorm and now is stranded on a ranch full of animals she's afraid of.... As far as days go, Princess Natalia Brunner has definitely had better ones! If not for the timely rescue by a good-looking cowboy, she would have quit this day long ago. But just like the old Westerns, the sexy Tim Banning has her thinking she should hang up her tiara and stay awhile....

Her Knight To Remember
Some people have no gratitude! When Princess Andrea Brunner saves Kyle Moore from a bad guy, she expects a little appreciation. Instead, the arrogant man insists that he saved her! Impossible! Annie has always been the rescuer. Nothing to do except ignore the gorgeous but misguided cop. Too bad he doesn't see when he's being given the cold shoulder. In fact, he seems intent on making himself unforgettable....

Jill Shalvis is a NYT, USA Today, and Amazon Top 100 bestselling author of small-town romance and romcoms, known for big feels, found family, and plenty of shenanigans.

If you love small-town chaos, meddling friends and neighbors, sizzling chemistry, and heroes who fall hard for the one woman they absolutely did not plan on, you’re in the right place. Jill’s books blend laugh-out-loud moments with emotional gut punches, slow-burn tension, and deeply earned happily ever afters.

She writes the stories she loves to read: small-town romance and romantic comedies packed with heart, heat, second chances, grumpy/sunshine sparks, and the kind of found-family vibes that make you want to move right into the pages. Many of her series are perfect for binge-reading, and a number of her books are available in Kindle Unlimited and at major retailers.

When she’s not writing, she’s probably plotting new ways to torture her characters, avoiding laundry, or daydreaming about fictional men and the strong, complicated women who bring them to their knees—and then making them work for it.

You can follow Jill here on Goodreads to keep up with new releases, add her books to your shelves, and discover which small town you want to get lost in next.

Nancy

So short, but so cute. The characters were such a hoot. I love the storyline. It was so funny. Thanks for the great read.

This book has two stories about two sisters that are princesses from the fictional country of Grunberg. They are both in the United States to attend the wedding of a family friend.

The first story is about Natalia and it started out cute but a little far fetched. Natalia ends up stranded at a bus stop in Texas and agrees to work for Tim. Them he drives more than 45 minutes to his ranch. The main story fell away and it was mostly about Natalia looking out the window and drooling about Tim and how hot and bothered she was. The character, Sally, Tim's sister, was horrible. There was nothing remotely likable about her, I didn't love to hate her. There was a scene where Natalia and Sally 'had it out' and Sally was still thoroughly unlikeable. I skimmed probably the last third just to see how it ended.

The second story, Andrea, or Annie's story, was a huge disappointment, which sounds weird given that I didn't like the first story in this book. The beginning was really good though, Annie and the best man, Kyle meet in an interesting way and I loved this part. It was smart and funny with well defined characters and great action. After that it just got bad, starting with the bachelor/bachelorette party the bride and bridesmaids are two dimensional, their only role in the story is to be a catalyst for awkward and awful things to happen to Annie, like barging into Annie's room for a beauty night that included facials and rubbing breast cream on each other, oh and a lingerie themed bridal shower where the bridesmaids wore the outfits that the bride would be wearing on the honeymoon. Who does that? I seriously would have bailed on the bridesmaid gig really early. Kyle is portrayed as a complete jerk that would have gotten slapped and knee to the groin if he had said them to pretty much any respectable woman. That was back enough but Annie is goaded into doing things she is categorically uncomfortable with, not once but twice, by calling her a chicken. This goes against everything that we learned about the character in the opening sequence of scenes. I began skimming soon after the bridal shower started.

It killed me that this story went off the rails after such a great start, because I really love Jill Shalvis' later book series, like Lucky Harbor and Animal Magnetism.

Oh my God! I laughed so much reading these stories.

In A Royal Mess Princess Natalia and Tim just cracked me up. The way Jill Shalvis wrote those characters and brought them together was amazing. It was totally believable to me that they ended up together in such a little time. Their chemistry was perfect, their banter was hilarious and the tender moments were the icing on the cake.

In Her Knight to Remember Princess Andrea and Kyle's chemistry is off the charts. I liked that she was tough and he was tougher, it made good banter.

Jill Shalvis has become a favorite of mine. I've enjoyed all the books I've read of hers and will continue to do so.

Two princesses, sisters, are featured in these two stories which each has a touch of magic. First Natalia is having a bad day. She's been bumped from first class, her luggage is lost, and then her purse is stolen. Luckily, rancher Tim Banning has a soft heart and has picked her up. A few days later, her sister Andrea, "Annie," is caught up in a shoot out when the best man of the wedding is followed by the nephew of a man he just put away.
Both 90s grocery store books but not bad for all of that.

Room for improvement..

I liked the second story better than the first, but both definitely need improvement. These stories show only a sliver of the Jill Shalvis I've been reading lately.

I had to read one of her books because I love her blog. It's a really light read so far and will be great for pool times.

Such a fun enjoyable simple read. Kept a smile on my face. Characters were great, loved their personalities. The arguing between Annie and Kyle were the best.

I enjoyed the hero in the second story the most. I just wish the story had been longer so I could see how he adapted to his new home.

both stories are wonderful but I enjoyed her knight to remember the most. The antics the two characters go through had me laughing so hard.

It was fine. I didn't realize this was going to be two novellas (I got it from the library on Kindle) and I always prefer the full books. But Jill Shalvis is always a fun read.

Definitely not my favorite Jill Shalvis books, but still enjoyable (to some extent).

A Royal Mess was just kind of stupid and silly, and it felt really fast.

I just read this for fun because I love Jill Shalvis. Not her best work, but still some pretty funny banter, which I've always enjoyed from her.
