About the author

Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) was a prolific British crime writer, journalist and playwright, who wrote 175 novels, 24 plays, and countless articles in newspapers and journals.

Over 160 films have been made of his novels, more than any other author. In the 1920s, one of Wallace's publishers claimed that a quarter of all books read in England were written by him.

He is most famous today as the co-creator of "King Kong", writing the early screenplay and story for the movie, as well as a short story "King Kong" (1933) credited to him and Draycott Dell. He was known for the J. G. Reeder detective stories, The Four Just Men, the Ringer, and for creating the Green Archer character during his lifetime.

رواية جميله أول مرة اقرا له بصراحه من بدايتها كنت عارفة ان اللص هو بربارا ماي لكن إللي ماكانش في بالي أبدا ان يكون اللي بيفضح صفوة المجتمع هي واحدة منها وإن بربارا بتسرق المجوهرات الماسية لشئ متعلق بأمر جلل يخص سمعة بريطانيا في الهند

Oh brother. Really weak book.
Irritating when detective (or any other law person) can't separate his work and his heart.
My eyes kept rolling and rolling. And of course (what a surprise - that's a sarcasm) girl was a detective too and so called cherry on top was that they got married. Gosh it was all so rushed. Kinda hilarious.

I thought reading Edgar Wallace is a must-have-done-once-in-your-life thing and therefore I read it.

It was neither extraordinarily good nor bad. Wouldn’t really recommend but also wouldn’t judge you for liking the book.

استغرقت مني تلك الرواية وقتاً طويلا نظراً لظروف حدثت معي كما انها لم تكن عند حسن ظني فلهذا لم أكن متحمسة لها حتى انني فكرت أن أتوقف عن قرأتها للملل و الرتابة بها و لانشغالي بما مررت به من أحداث و لكن في النهاية قررت أن انتهي منها و وضعها جانباً .. تدور أحداث الرواية حول سارق بروشات من سيدات المجتمع الراقي و أخر فاعل خير يرسل خطابات للأسر الارستقراتية لفضحهم و فضح أفعالهم مما تسبب في تفكك الكثير من الاسر .. أما السارق فهو شخص معروف من بداية الرواية ثم يقوم الكاتب بتوضيح سبب السرقات لنكتشف انه عميل سري.. ثم بعد ذلك يظهر لنا الكاتب شخصية فاعل الخير مرسل الخطابات ليتضح أنه احد سيدات المجتمع الراقي و بهذا تنتهي الرواية في جو من الرتابة و الملل و فقط ...
