The Illustrious Women of Islam From The First Generation By Imam Adh-Dhahabi & Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani (Taken From Siyar A'Lam an-Nubala By Imam Adh-Dhahabi & Al-Isaabah Fi Tamyiz as-Sahabah By Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani) ‘The Illustrious Women of Islam’ is a collection of biographies taken from two of the most trusted Islamic history books authored by Imam ad-Dhahabi and Ibn Hajar Asqalani. The first book recounts memoirs of those noble women closest to the Prophet peace be upon him such as his wives, nursing mothers, daughters, granddaughters, paternal aunts, paternal cousins, nursing sisters, and select women from the Muhajirun and Ansar. The second book is a biographical encyclopedia arranged in alphabetical order illustrating these noble women from mankind and Jinn.
Excellent book. It is difficult to remember these woman, and their relationships with the Prophet(saw) or the noble male companions due to them having same names or marrying more than one person during the course of their lifetime (due to their husbands getting martyred) and due to them being in polygynous marriages, but it is an excellent book where a lot of women from the companions are mentioned and some hadiths of them or by them.
It's pretty hard to read, but an amazing book regardless! I think I'll read it a second time later this year in sha Allah to really memorize the stories of these women (radiAllahu anhum)
This book is a great book if you love reading about the Women of Islam and if you would like to learn more about the lives of the women, that were surrounding the Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings be upon him). It has multiple biographies in here which is why the book is a bit lengthy
