Until Murder Do Us Part

Rate this book
Lake Pleasant is the type of town where you know all your neighbors, nothing is secret and gossip is rampant. This small town is now gearing up for its biggest event since its founding. Everyone is looking forward to the Dorsett-Parsley wedding, a massive celebration in honor of the town's most popular and wealthy couple. This celebration of life though will quickly turn morbid as among the guest list, an unwelcome murderer has also been joined the festivities...

During the lively reception, a member of the bridal party, a bright young woman named Rachel West, drops dead. While everyone in town seems content with brushing the truth under the carpet by claiming the young woman died of natural causes, one resident will stand apart from the rest. A recently retired teacher and wedding guest, Jessica Scott, is determined to find the truth at all costs. No one but her seems to suspect the mystery around the death of the young woman and the town resists the terrifying truth that one of their own may be a killer. Armed with nothing but her wits and a hunger for justice, Jessica decides to investigate the murder by herself (and a sassy cat named Slinky). In the process, she'll uncover horrifying secrets and a past that many would prefer to keep buried. The question is just how deceived could she have been about her not so innocent hometown?

From flower shops to the golf club, Jessica is more than willing to turn the town upside down in pursuit of the facts. She'll face opposition from the most unlikely places and have to wade through an ocean of lies. Regardless of others wanting to conceal the truth, Jessica's need for justice refuses to be silenced. Will Jessica manage to expose the shocking truth about what really happened to Rachel? Or will her death forever remain an unresolved mystery?

"Until Murder Do Us Part" is an intriguing cozy mystery novel of approximately 60,000 words. No cliffhangers, just pure captivating mystery.

ONE THRILLING ROLLERCOASTER RIDE!!!
Breathe deep! Cynthia brought out the heavy artillery for this tough as nails, nerve racking, rollercoaster ride, fusing this baby together flawlessly. Non-stop, action packed, heart pounding, pulse racing, page flipping bombshell that keeps you riveted and frozen to your seat. Add drama, turmoil, tension, intrigue and mounting suspense along with a boatload of danger while dodging calamity, makes for one block busting adventure. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, kicking this gem into a tempest, blasting it into a hissy with a block busting culmination. Twixt and twined and intermingled, unveiling a slew of astonishing twists and shocking turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. A spinning throng of vexing circumstances and a bevy of surprising events catapults those swirling emotions bursting into play. The dynamics and presentation in layer upon layer that you peel back with each page your drawn into this web so deep until everything else ceases to exist. The characters are original and realistic with such depth and qualities that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions you have no problem interpreting each scenario as they play off one another perfectly. Remarkable job Cynthia, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

This story and the plot were excellent. Where this story fails is where most cozy mysteries have a light whimsical atmosphere to them, this one does not. The characters are all resistant and I'm not sure how a retired teacher could actually do all that detective work and afford to access all the internet access programs that gets you the information you need on people. From recent experience, I know how quickly someone gets buried or cremated if it is determined natural causes and no autopsy will be performed, unless they are an organ donor. I liked Jessica because she is around my own age, but her thought processes are extremely different than mine, causing confusion about what a woman that age is thinking. I don't know how old the author is because her picture is not posted on Amazon, Goodreads or Bookbub.

Too long, no interest

This is the first book I have read by Cynthia Raye and probably my last. The people of this small town are anticipating the big wedding of the two children of the richest families in town. At the wedding one of the bridesmaind dies. It is rules natural causes but Jessica, the now retired history teacher doesn't believe it. She proceeds to investigate. Pretty good story. The problem is, non of the characters are developed enough to really care. Then to top it off, I found myself skipping paragraphs because there was too much unnecessary information, like the cat playing with his toy and how his toy was made. I di finish the book to see who the murderer was but I didn't care. It was a waste of time

Jessica and Slinky are on the case
Cynthia Raye is a new author for me and I was very impressed with this engaging and entertaining cozy. She has written great characters I just loved the cast in this one. We have an older sleuth who is a wedding guest when a dead body is found. Now Jessica and Slinky are on the case facing an exciting mystery with danger and drama. This has a great plot and I could not put it down you will have twists and turn you will love. This author is someone to watch!

I enjoyed this book. It had some good twists and turns in the story. I like the main character Jessica she stops at nothing to get to the truth regardless of the consequences. I'd like to read some of other books by this author.

A new slueth

Great read, I love the character of Jessica. She witnessed the death of a former student and knows something is wrong. She doesn't accept the natural causes rationale that is touted.

Unreadable

Poorly written. Sloppy editing. Poor character development. Difficult to have any empathy fort any character in the story. Story and characters both boring and incredible

Good five stars!

A very good "who done it" which I enjoyed reading. I never would have guessed who was guilt. I don't want to say who I thought done it.

Quite forgettable. I was not able to review immediately I finished this and now I am groping to find anything that impressed me, even though I read every word.
A pleasant enough way to spend some time.
