Do you know of those "XXX things you need to YYY to achieve ZZZ" articles that litter most websites aimed at creative professionals? Well, this book here is a collection of 11 such pieces disguised as chapters. It too is filled with bullet points and checklists for the things you should, shouldn't or absolutely must do and just like with the aforemetioned articles the advice given is entirely forgettable the moment you stop reading. If you already have some experience under your belt, you will dismiss most of it as overly simplified, not applicable in your situation or painfully obvious.
That is not to say this book can't be helpful, as it does cover virtually every aspect of a freelance operation and the reader is bound to stumble across some subjects that they are not very familiar or experienced with. And while the explanation is often very shallow, it just may point you in the right direction if you'd like to expand your knowledge, albeit you will need to acquire it from elsewhere.
It was an easy read and filled with lots of practical advice. I would've liked more detail about other approaches and more justification for their recommendations. In what situations is their approach best and when would a different tactic be better?
