What does God actually want for us? What is his dream for you, or for me? Is it that we would become just a little nicer? More “moral”? A little more religious? Could it be that there’s something else he’s after?
Many books engage the life of the Trinity at an academic level, focusing simply on fine points of theological distinction. In All Flame , Andrew Arndt drills down, with mystical power and missional energy, to the dream of the God revealed in three Persons―Father, Son, and Holy Spirit―showing how the Triune God is not far but near, already in touch with your life, already present to you, already at work in and through your circumstances to make you the kind of person he desires you to ALL FLAME.
I didn't agree with all that Andrew said as I feel he heavily leans on a more saints and monks idea of faith, however I did learn a lot about the supposed silence of God, those times where we can't feel Him moving. I also really enjoyed the last third of the book which talks about 3 prominent christians of our time and how the Spirit has worked in them.
I did not enjoy the writing style of this book, which is why I gave it three stars. But there were definitely some chapters that spoke to me in profound ways and it was clear his heart for God and people and truth is genuine and growing. He spoke powerfully of the darkness in our lives and how that can and will push us into a deep knowing of God if we choose.
Outstanding book, that challenges me. All flame 🔥, something I desire, to be ALL IN!!! “10 fingers lit on fire by the Spirit of God, pointed toward Him”, yet sometimes hesitate as it leaves me in a deeper relationship with God and a truer understanding of how incredibly broken and in need for a Savior, I am. If you need a good book to challenge you in your relationship with God, this is a great book. From one ragamuffin to the next - to God Be the Glory!

This book was challenging and encouraging. In it was the call to not be satisfied by nominal faith, but to submit to the Spirit’s burning, purifying, and awakening power. A standout passage that I loved was the analogy of the Christ follower as a fiddle in the hands of an Expert Fiddler (Chapter 9). The core message of this book is that “holiness is not the privileged possession of a select few, but rather the design of God for every human life. Yielding to the work of the Spirit who makes us like Jesus we will live up to the invitation of Israel’s God who says, “Be holy as I am holy”… The question remains: will we respond?” May we say yes and keep saying yes!
I loved Arndt's desire to see readers move deeper in their spiritual lives. Perhaps because I've read other books on the subject that impacted me greatly, I didn't find this book particularly compelling. It seemed to repeat ideas I've read often before. I also felt like Arndt as a writer didn't truly open himself up to the readers. His personal examples seemed more surface than some of the stories he told of others, and even those didn't draw me in. Not a bad book, but just not great. If asked, I'd tell others to try it. It may speak to them more than it did to me.
I don't have words to grasp my heart's emotions as I listened through this book. Pastor Andrew hit the nail on the head for me so many times. All Flame gave words for much of what I've felt lately. I'll have to come back when I've processed more. Life changing and life giving. This book was a gift at the perfect time. Thank you!
This book was okay not great. I really loved part one were the author unpacked the trinity of God. This is a book that calls out Christian to follow Jesus no matter the cost. This book shows that in our spiritual darkness God is a very present light.
I enjoyed this book but not quite sure how I would rate it. I found it easy to read and the content was solid. I liked that it emphasized the idea that becoming “all flame” is available to everyone.
