Vice Admiral Nebs and his Archangels are coming for the Last Reaper, and they’re out for blood.
Halek Cain and his crew jump into one slip tunnel after another to escape a psychopath with an armada of deadly warships. Every system is a trap; every encounter a potential battle.
When Cain and his friends receive a distress call from the Bold Freedom, innocent lives will hang on their every decision. And Cain still has debts that need to be paid. People who helped him off the exploding prison station are going to die horribly if he doesn’t pull of the impossible.
But they don’t call him the Last Reaper for nothing.
“Sometimes you need to risk the world in order to save it.” Oh, wow! Where do I even begin! I’ve read all of the books in the Reaper series and I cannot say enough good things about each one...where each book was just as good as the next! It is an incredible series...the action is non-stop from beginning to end. Riveting reading, great plots, always with a twist, and so lovable heroes. Intense, emotive, we get plenty of spectacle along the way, but by making these fears so immediate and perilous, as well as grounded in our character’s unique fears, we get a more personal view of these people and become closer to them as a result. Looking forward to reading Wrath of The Reaper. An absolute must read!
Our charming Reaper is making new friends and growing his crew, something someone who thinks about murdering everyone he meets atleast once is kind of funny. Our reaper is growing . Wished for a bit of a bigger final confrontation, they build up 'Junior admiral' Nebs like the ultimate badass and in the end he met his fate real fast. But other than that, great read, allready starting on the next one <3
Cain manages to get control of one of Neb's ships, Nightmare, but has a near fatal battle with its AI while the other two ships wage war. The scavengers have an underground base and an EMP weapon that they use to render one if the ships useless for a time. Other events prevent Cain from pushing his advantage as things head towards the final showdown with Nebs. Will he find his mother and sister? Can he kill Nebs? What happens next? Who are the scavengers and Wallace fighting? Are they the same race?
Love Reaper Cain and his mouthy teenager Elise, as well as his 2 AI's X37 and Jelly. And I was so happy that he finally took care of Vice Admiral Nebs. Now he has to help the people of Wallach.
No romance and the F-bomb was used 24 times.
As for the narration: I still can't get over listening to Ray Porter, and his awesome acting skills, do the first 3 books then it changing to Tom Taylorson, who is pretty bland when he reads. BUT since I like the Reaper series so much I will continue with it, but this is the LAST time I'll listen to an audible when it changes narrators. It's just too aggravating thinking about the publishers no giving a damn about the readers and what they might want, caring about the all-mighty-dollar ONLY.
There are some interesting elements in the story so far and that made me continue until this 5th book. But after 5 books I'm still not invested in any of the characters.
Hal Cain isn't a very believable character. He's supposed to be this super assassin that is trained for stealth missions. But instead of careful planning, something you would expect from a professional like him, he just races head first into unknown situations and he comes across as amateuristic.
So far this series was not bad, but not good either. My tbr list is too long to waste time on not-bad books. It's a shame because I love The Renegade Star series (main series in this world) and 3 other series I've read so far in this world. I really wanted to like this series too.
This wasn't that bad of a book. The book rounded itself up to 3 stars. Nebs was another in a long line of cartoon villains, but at those point, i do not expect anything more. Cain actually grew a bit as a character, so did Elise, Path, X, and a few others. Profanity was also kept to a minimum, used sparingly, and during the appropriate times.
Onto the next book, let's see if this positive trend in character/plot developments continue.
I really enjoy this series. It's fun, fast paced, great dialogue and the plot is logical but still has a great imagination pushing the world building experience. Reaper is becoming so well enjoyed that I think it's going to be something I read several times. Cant go wrong, but start with book one if you are new. Great read.
Halek Cain continues working against Nebs as he also more & more worries about Elise and Path’s safety and survival. But he’s determined to once & for all have a showdown with Nebs.
Love the stories and plan to read them all. Sure wood be nice if Amazon would institute some standards for proofreading and editing. If I had bought paper versions of these books, I’d be pissed and wanting to return them.
The authors of Book 5 of (The Last Reaper series)continue with extensive detailed descriptions of the people involved and how they muddle through the challenges thrown at them by their adversaries
The story line gets deeper as Hal meets new friends, takes on an old enemy and surprise; a family reunion of sorts. Can’t wait to crack open the next installment in the Last Reaper series. Keep ‘em comin’!
Another great story in the series. Halek Cain and his group are amassing more people into their group. Saving the day seems to be his new forte. I love the story and would highly recommend it.
Reaper Cain and friends have travelled into another star system looking for the Bold Freedom after they heard its distress call. They are amazed to find that it is full of derelict ships and ship parts and even more amazed when they realise that there are people living amid the wreckage. The Bold Freedom is the ship that residents of the Super Max Prison had made out of any material that they could get their hands on. When the prison started to fall apart they had crammed as many people in as they could and escaped the system. The only reason they could do that was because Reaper Cain had obtained a necessary part for them from the core of the prison/space station at great peril to his life. Now he is rescuing them again by bringing much needed fuel. Unfortunately Vice Admiral Nebs of the Union is determined to destroy Cain and the escapees and has followed him. Cain and his new allies face total annihilation at Nebs hands unless they can pull off a miracle!
Cannot put this series down. An assassin, an experiment, a dude who never gets rattled, and a continually growing bunch of misfits with a code, results in a series that's hard to out down. I'm not getting enough sleep anymore! and yet I can't wait for the next installment! Brilliant!
Cain has decided to help a spaceship refuel in the path of a comet. Scavengers, people who survive by their wits and determination. This act of kindness puts Cain the Reaper in the flight path of a host of Union ships and the vice admiral Nebs, his arch enemy. Non stop action.! Enjoyed immensely!!
This series keeps expanding whilst remaining a consistantly entertaining and action packed read. Halek Cain continues to evolve as a character and Elise is really coming into her own. This entry marks the end of the Nebs saga, we finally get some answers about Cain's family and a tease at upcoming threats. Great Read!
Another highly entertaining book in the Reaper series sees Caine, his band of strays and some new allies are taking the fight to Nebs and the Union. This great story goes from strength to strength. Highly recommended!
They have taken over the ship Nightmare. All the AI's are working together to break Neb's hold on the Nightmare. Now they are working on getting another colony of people to safety and on their side.
This series is like a soap opera, with many moments of high drama followed by silly interactions. Yet, just like daily soap operas, I find myself tuning in to the next episode awaiting the next grand reveal.
Another good installment in this great series, well written with a charachter that is amusing as he is deadly, wojld be nice if Path was featured a bit more as we learn about the Sword Szints!
