Rose When my mom told me we were moving to the Grove, I thought it was a joke. Our family, one of the wealthiest in Woodbury, moving to a dump like the Grove? Well, I guess that's what happens when you lose everything. Now we're shoved into the house the size of a shoebox and I can literally feel the darkness seeping in around me. But then, I meet someone with a darkness that even I can't compete with. They call him the Reaper.
Easton Darkness has consumed me my entire life. I've known nothing but death and destruction, using my fists to control the beast within me. Then, after yet another win in the ring, I find my Rose. A little ball of light, I think. But no, her eyes hold the familiar darkness that calls to me. Alone, I live with my demons. Together, we will conquer them. Welcome to hell, baby girl.
'REAPERS AND ROSES' Is a full length romance novel by new to me author 'A.R. Breck.' Spoken in 'Dual POV's' Hero: Easton Heroine: Rose
I just re-read this and loved it as much if not more than the 1st time around. I've only really just come across this author and she's quickly become one where I want to read all the words. Now I'm excited to jump on the next book which I didn't get to.
These two were as different as chalk and cheese, she came from money, he lived in a trailer park, he was a fighter she was a fixer, she saw the good in people, he saw the bad. But god these two together were perfect.
At seventeen years of age, Rose literally went from Riches to Rags within the blink of an eye. Moving from a 5 bedroom mansion to a two bedroom hovel in the ghetto, pulled out of her private school and having to now attend a new public school, Grove High..She's well over her head..And these three boys (Easton, Logan, Jackson) in the beginning do not make it easy for her..
He quickly became her knight in shining armour, after a few times coming to her rescue, as we near the end of this book though it does take a drastic turn for the worst, where Rose finds herself in a terrible situation and no Eastern there to save her. And that's when we're thrown over a brutal emotional cliffy that is right in your face.
Eastern and his two best mates haven't had an easy life, all thrown into a life where they each have blood on their hands, but above it all they each have the others back. I loved these guys.
I went into this pretty much blind, unknown author to me, cast my eye over the synopsis, glimpsed at the reviews but the cover got my hoe eyes one clicking.
A few editing mistakes but having come across worse didn’t hinder my reading experience at all.
I loved this from start to finish, couldn’t put it down, didn’t want it to end, until I fell over that cliffy!! That was brutal! So now like others before me I’m highly anticipating the next book! I can’t wait to see where the author is going to go next!
This was so much more than just a bully romance novel, these three boys may be the KINGS of their school but it’s the father’s you have to watch, cross them and you may end up six feet under.
Pretty good but Rose kind of annoyed me sometimes.
Reapers and Roses was an okay book. In it, you will meet Rose and Easton. Yeah, Rose was used to a certain kind of lifestyle.. or at least her mom was. Yet, when they had to move things kind of went downhill. Her mom started drinking way more than usual and she actually had to work (gasp!). Then Rose had to go to public school (double gasp!) and yeah.. things were definitely different for these two.
Enter Easton. Yeah, he kind of saves her and he definitely has a thing for her. Then things get a little complicated between them. Especially when her ex comes back into town. Now he definitely muddied things between them because of what went down throughout this book. Like, hot damn - I didn't even get a second to breath.
Don't get me wrong, it was good and I couldn't put the book down. However, that damn ending - ugh, cliffhangers suck so much. I think what actually happened is dumb.. but like what they all decided to do after the bad thing actually happened. No idea if that makes sense.. but if I could slap characters - I would slap all of them.
When I was younger I used to throw mayo on leftover rice and called that my after-school snack. This book just made me think about that cuz my rice had more flavor than every single character here combined
I'm praying for this bland couple to find their peace 😔🙏🏼
A.R Breck has just slayed with Reapers and Roses! Breck is a new to me author so I wasn’t sure what to expect but the blurb and the cover pulled me in.
This book had me engrossed within the first couple of chapters, so much so, that I just couldn’t put it down, I had to take my kindle with me everywhere just so I could fit one more page in before I had to stop.
The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because there were some editing issues that slightly put me off.
I loved Easton. He was so damn alpha. *Fans Self*
This isn’t you typical bully romance and if you are looking for a book to completely smash your heart open with the cliffhanger at the end then look no further because my heart is broken, I’m pissed there are no more words to read and now if off to stalk the author to see how quickly I can get my hands on book 2.
I hate this couple. I hate the hero. Two words. Alpha. Jackass.
Why did it feel like I was reading a completely different character in The Mute and the Menace? You get this whole one side of the story from that book which doesn't match the same girl you see in this book as the heroine's best friend.
You have the hero saving the heroine from multiple incidents but he fails to understand that he's the reason why she keeps getting into problems in the first place! A group of girls assault her because of jealousy but damnnnn the hero's revenge is one of the best I've seen in any book so far!
This book is basically a whole lot of "don't wear that", "don't say that", "you belong to me", "I don't belong to you!!" etc. I kept having a headache with the amount of times I kept rolling my eyes.🙄
Trigger warning for assault in the ending of the book!!! I definitely did not expect that to happen. And here I was reading this book at work and tearing up unexpectedly in public! 🤦🏾♀️
❝I don't care if I fall in love with the devil, as long as that devil will love me the same way he loves hell❞
I really wanted to love this book. The story itself was intriguing and I felt like it had a lot of potential but I’m not a fan of the authors writing style. I felt like I was reading a Wattpad novel written by a 14 year old. The dialogue and story were very clunky, and at times I found myself confused about the characters actions not matching up with the way the author was trying to portray them. The main character Rose was meant to read as a strong independent badass but she just came across as a snobby whiny b**** who thought she was better then everyone else. She was so unlikable and there was no reason for the love interest Easten to fall for her other than her looks. They had no chemistry and she treated him like trash which was meant to come across as endearing and show how she’s “different” from other girls because she “challenges” him. Nope. She was honestly no better than the “mean girls” in the book, calling them all sluts and then getting upset that people were judging her when she was doing exactly the same thing. I’m all for character flaws but there were no redeeming qualities about Rose. 1 1/2 stars
This story was not that good. The h was an annoying brat and the H was one-dimensional. You couldn't even tell if the H liked the h; he just started ordering her around one day. Plus, the H is rich but chooses to live in a trailer park which makes little sense. I was also really disgusted by the queerbaiting that the author did with the h and her BF. It was completely unnecessary and turned me off from these characters. Plus, the characters are all teenagers but they drink so much. I wish authors would stop using the drinking, partying, and sleeping around template for all their teenage charaters. Lastly, I will say that the rape was a big factor on why I will not be reading the next book.
I will come back to this book, maybe in a year or so, but not right now, the writing on this book is HORRIBLE, i dnfed it . The FMC is bitchy, disrespectful and ungrateful little wench. Seriously, if the good people of this book are like her, im afraid to see what the villain's gonna be like.
The main character can’t take care of herself and talks down a lot on her new poor lifestyle. The author tries to make her out as a baddie, but she’s not even close. I wish there was more depth in the relationship and there were more dynamics in how his feelings for her changed instead of instantly wanting her in a love-y way.
Once I started this book couldn't put it down . I loved every second of it but that ending killed me I need book two asap cannot wait for the next one . New author to me can't wait to see what she writes next
I'm going to DNF this one. The FMC is just so completely unlikeable I just can not get into this story. I truly just do not care what happens to her so with that said I'm done.
I LOVED this book. I haven’t found a book lately that has held my attention like this book did. From start to finish I felt ever emotion the characters were going through.
It wasn’t your typical bully romance. There wasn’t a whole lot of bullying going on but there was a whole lot of alpha male. I did not like Rose at first. I felt she was a materialistic girl that was handed everything in life. She didn’t know how to appreciate the things she had and that bothered the crap out of me.
Throughout the book you could feel the change in Rose. She went from caring about such stupid stuff to realizing that other people have it worse than she ever has.
I loved Easton. He reminded me so much of Maddoc from Brayshaw that I fell in love instantly. He was such a controlling character. He would not let Rose say no to him, no matter what. Even when she did not think things would work he knew she was his future.
The ending wrecked me. I did not expect the author to take it that far but man oh man she did. I appreciated the fact that she did though. I thought that it was necessary in this story to have the heartbreak that was caused. I can’t wait to see how Rose and Easton come out of this situation. It can only get better from here.
OMG I dont even know where to begin with this book. I thought the writing was riveting and captivating. The characters were well developed and the scenes were great.
Rose is the main female character who was gifted lemons by life so to speak. Her daddy dearest has stopped putting money in their accounts and her and her mom had no choice but to leave their rich upscale neighborhood and move to the Grove, more of a ghetto type place. The transition, change in behaviors depicted by the writer was pretty accurate to what it may be like for both of them. Easton is the bad boy to the bone. And not even including the fact that his dad is a murdering drug dealer lol He is a fighter, sexy, and a hard ass. The banter between the two of them had me laughing. I was so glad that Rose just didnt bow down to him and his buddies like the others in the town. She showed some strength, and thankfully because as we see throughout the book, she doesnt have the physical strength on her side.
I would have to warn that there are some parts of this book that include violence, rape and murder. So if you dont want to read about those things, maybe this book wouldnt be for you. Cannot wait until the next book comes out this month.
This book was okay, nothing special but not horrible. Here's why:
- The plot was basically that the main heroine was always in danger and the hero always saved her. - Typically I like a protective guy but here it just felt so predictable and boring? - I didn't like the characters, they were pretty plain in my opinion. I didn't "get to know" them. - I'm not going to read the next book because it didn't captivate me, even though this book ends in a cliffhanger, which is very rare. - I liked that it wasn't too long.
This book had a huge amount of potential. However is had so many inconsistencies, the heroines eye colour seemed to change each chapter and the POV seemed to slip within chapters.
The heroines struggles to be likeable, she talks a lot of smack about poor people, insists she can look after herself, yet continues to make the same mistakes over and over again and doesn't grow as a person.
It is interesting to see where the author goes with this cliffhanger.
I love dark romance. I love finding new authors more. This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time i was reading it. I lived the feistiness from Rose. And the rock hard get to know Eadton. I cant wait to reas the second book because this book ended in a major cliffhanger. But over all i highly enjoyed reading from this new author. Will be on the look out for more books from her
This book tired so hard to be a dark bully type book and it wasn't, the dude wasn't a bully just an enforcer for his mafia dad, and it was a just dumb, I got towards the end and I got bored as hell. Not gonna even read any of the other books in the series.
*Trigger Warning* I have read this storyline now about 5 times. Bad boy fighter falls in love with good girl, caveman crazy ensues. Same here, better writing and then it hops off the rails into crazy town. I love crazy town.
I thought that I was going to like this book. But there were so many issues: the guys treated the girls terribly, they all trash talked about girls, and the story became really heavy to the point that I won't keep reading.
This book! I loved it so much and could not put it down. Finished it one day and I’m not ashamed that I stayed in my reading spot all day to do it. The only reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars is because Rose was so obnoxiously annoying, I almost stopped reading after the first 3 pages. Not kidding.
I had to stop and weigh out the pros and cons of the book after THREE PAGES! That’s how disgusted I was at how Rose was acting. I understand that people who come from money or have money act a certain way, but my goodness she was such a spoiled rich brat that I made a face every time it was her POV.
She literally gets disgusted with her friend because she suggested that Rose wear tennis shoes.
...Um, what? I didn’t realize tennis shoes were only made/worn by the poor.
The house she lives in with her mom is in a decent neighborhood and is in the nicer part of town. And yet she calls the place a piece of shit because it doesn’t have 5 bedrooms like her previous house 🙄😒 And while she’s calling her home a pice of shit, she’s doing it in front of her friend who lives in a trailer park that is run down and is barely live-able. Okay Rose.
She’s so judgmental and bougie. I couldn’t get over it. Almost every POV chapter that was hers, she does, or says, something that makes me cringe and hate her even more.
Just irritating. Other than her terrible personality, the book was great! Not sure if I can read the next one though because she’s that annoying. No lie.
Oh and btw I live in Woodbury, MN (where Rose lived), and it’s not that ritzy or expensive. Yes it’s nice, but it’s not even close to being as “rich city” as the author made it out to be. It’s just a regular schemgular degular city 🤷🏽♀️
This book took me so long to read because it got soooo boring. The beginning was good and intriguing but as it got on it was bad. The story was very basic and stereotypical. I wish it didn’t end on a cliff hanger just so I don’t have to suffer through another book. Sadly I can’t just not finish a book or DNF so I’m stuck. I’m gonna wait as long as I can before reading the next book. I also didn’t like the way the story was going. I especially didn’t like the ending with SPOILER ALERT: TRIGGER WARNING with the girl getting raped by the ex. I wasn’t a fan of that. I don’t normally mind that in a book but I’m this book it just it didn’t work. For me it’s a 2/5
Holy cliffhanger! 😳 When I first started reading this book I was really debating on finishing it. It started out very slow in the beginning, but then it picked up, and I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough! The ending will have you saying “what the fuck!”
I know there are a few reviews where people didn’t really care for Rose. I will say, I loved her and her sassiness.. Yes, she was a snobby bitch and yes, she voiced her opinion about other people, but I think that’s what A.R. Breck was going for, to show how Easton and Rose came from two different worlds. I think we’re going to see a different Rose in book 2, especially after what happened. Oh and don’t get me started on Easton....he is so my kind of bad boy! Tall, Dark, and a whole lotta crazy! I cannot wait to see what he does in the next book. I personally thought the book was amazingly written and I’m sooo looking forward to reading book 2. I would totally recommend this book.
Ok this book has got to be one of the worst books I’ve ever read. I honestly can not fathom how authors think its ok to add r*pe into the plot to make it “interesting”. You could get the desired effect and still not have the main character get r*ped. Not only was that the cliffhanger to this book, but in general the writing was terrible. I found it hard to figure out what the plot actually was and why I cared about it. It honestly felt like I was reading a wattpad book written by a 14-year-old. The only thing will say is that this book had potential until I read that last chapter and lost all hope. I think it is so disgusting and unnecessary to put r*pe in a goddamn enemies to lovers high school romance book, like what was the reason? I wouldn’t recommend there are so many better books out there. Sorry.
