Amazon & USA Today Best Selling Author, Tillie Cole, is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Having been born and raised as a Teesside Smoggie, Tillie, at age nineteen, moved forty miles north to the 'Toon', Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where she attended Newcastle University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Religious Studies. She returned two years later to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching High School Social Studies. Tillie, regards Newcastle to be a home from home and enjoyed the Newcastle Geordie way of life for seven 'proper mint' and 'lush' years.

One summers day, after finishing reading her thousandth book on her much loved and treasured Kindle, Tillie turned to her husband and declared, "D'you know, I have a great idea for a story. I could write a book." Several months later, after repeating the same tired line at the close of another completed story, she was scolded by her husband to shut up talking about writing a novel and "just bloody do it!" For the first time in eleven years, Tillie actually took his advice (he is still trying to get over the shock) and immediately set off on a crazy journey, delving deep into her fertile imagination.

Tillie, ever since, has written from the heart. She combines her passion for anything camp and glittery with her love of humour and dark brooding men (most often muscled and tattooed – they’re her weakness!). She also has a serious side (believe it or not!) and loves to immerse herself in the complex study of World Religions, History and Cultural Studies and creates fantasy stories that enable her to thread serious issues and topics into her writing -- yep, there's more to this girl than profanity and sparkles!

After six years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have finally given up their nomadic way of life and settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasselled-chap wearing, Stetson-sporting cowgirl... Ye-haw!

Since I’ve finished this series in a binge, I’ve been trying to sit on it and see if perhaps my enthusiasm for it is clouding my enjoyment. I can confidently say that no, I still think it’s pretty awesome.

This book...

It was very convoluted at certain points (especially when family secrets started to spill) but I can’t say that it bothered me in the least.

For the first time since I’ve been reading romance I didn’t mind the flashbacks - I loved them actually. The slow development of Tanner and Adelita’s relationship was so so great to read about. That push and pull, the hate-love attitudes, the freaking passion, I was so hooked. Their chemistry was through the roof and who doesn’t love the cliché but nonetheless beautiful trope of “love makes you a better person”.

Truth be told, no one could change from a full-blown racist to a well-meaning, supporter of equality just because they fell in love which is why it was made clear that Tanner was never really a hateful person at the core. It was just drilled into him from a young age, that he should think and act a certain way and it took him falling for the “wrong” person, to rethink his life and motivations. I loved that angle of the story. I absolutely adore reading about characters who try to right their wrongs and choose to walk a different, better path.

Back to the main couple, cause I could talk about them forever.. the scene when they retreat to a safe house after being attacked - God, I could feel the sizzling energy around them. That whole episode was what really convinced me of this couple’s potential. I’ve re-read it about 5 times so far, it was that well written.

“I hate your eyes, I hate your face, I hate your body.” My body, which heated so much I felt like I was on fire. I gripped his biceps, my nails stabbing into the already bloodied flesh. “I hate that motherfucking smile.” Squeezing my neck tighter, he hissed, “But most of all . . .” He took a deep breath. “Most of all . . . I fucking hate that I want you so much.” Tanner’s lips smashed to mine.”

That promise they made to wait for each other. The fact that he worked so hard to create a path that opens the possibility of a future together for the both of them.. he was relentless in achieving that goal. And boy was it hot to read about a guy who not only keeps his word against all odds but who never wavers in his conviction. *major swoon*

I really hope that we get to find out more about how their life progresses from future books. I’m not done reading about these two.

I also loved the side characters in this. Their banter and their general conversations.. it really completed the story. I hope Viking’s book comes soon because that man has got jokes, but I wanna see what else there is to him.

Tillie Cole’s Hades Hangman series is one of my favorite dark romance/MC series. I love every book in this series in it’s own way, and this book was no exception. Tanner and his Adelita are a truly forbidden pair of star crossed lovers.

Tanner Ayers was raised as the White Prince of the KKK and Adelita Quintanan is the Princess of a drug cartel in Mexico. Tanner was raised to hate anyone with a different skin color, so no one is more surprised than him when he falls for Lita. It changes his entire world and the way he sees everything and everyone.
“If the world doesn’t want us together, then we have to find a place that does. I want no one else, baby. You’re it. You’ve always been it.”

Tanner left the KKK and joined up with his friend Tank in the Hades Hangman MC. He had to leave Lita behind in Mexico for both of their safety, but he always planned on getting her back with him, where she belonged. One day when it was safe and he could figure out a plan, he would rescue his girl and they would be free to be together.
“I love you, princess…Never forget that, even when I’m gone from here…I’ll only ever protect you…I’m gonna find a way for us to be together…someday…no matter how long it takes…”

Lita gets back to Tanner in a way I didn’t expect. I spent the entire book hoping this couple could get every thing figured out and just be together. That’s all I wanted. This story had a few revelations that shocked me. There are so many things going on aside from just Tanner and Lita’s story. I loved seeing how Lita fit in the Hangmen world. I just adore all of these characters. They feel like family. With all that happened towards the end, I know there is much more to come from the Hangmen group!

If you’re a fan of emotional reads, darker romance, and MC books, this is a series I can’t recommend enough. A lot of these books are hard to read and deal with some extremely sensitive material, but if you can get through that, they’re amazing stories! Another great addition to this series!

➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

‘DARKNESS EMBRACED' is the seventh book in Tillie Cole’s ‘Hades Hangmen' series. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives.’

Like Romeo and Juliet this relationship was doomed from the start, it’s not possible that they can have an open relationship, it will put a price on both their heads. In a perfect world they would be together.

Adelita Quintana is the daughter of the most brutal cartel boss in Mexico and Tanner was born and then crafted into the perfect White Prince of the Klu Klux Klan. His teachings started at the ripe age of six, beaten by his father when he befriended a new boy at school with coloured skin.

They met through chance, he accompanied his father to a business meeting held by Adelita’s father, she was his distraction. He despised her as soon as he met her. But chance kept on throwing them together and they formed such a strong unique forbidden bond. He became her first. Promises were made, promises were broken (or so she thought)

❝The White Prince and the Cartel Princess. It made no sense. Two people who were never mean't to be, found in the other, their soulmate. The half of their heart that had yet to be claimed.❞

Now the club is at war and things are going to get messy, and at the cross fire sits Adelita. These two haven’t clapped eyes on the other in two years. But that's going to change in a heartbeat.

How can it be that this series just gets better and better, you end up loving each and every character as though they are family, you mourn them when you finish the book, you can't get enough of them, a series I never want to end, my heart is full with love from reconnecting with past characters again. All the feels, all the angst, all my boxes were ticked when it comes to an MC read. This had it all, an undeniable forbidden love, gang wars, chaos and murder, death and mayhem, love and hate walked hand in hand, this was unique, unputdownable, undeniably one of my top MC series ever, this author is unstoppable!!

What I enjoyed the most about this was the real life relationships these characters form, this wasn't just centered around club life, or the dramas that entailed, we got to see their love for their families, the deeper reader connection occurred and that's what I loved the most about this book.

*****FIVE STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

I didn’t know how we had gotten here, to this place. I didn’t know how he, the man I was never meant to like, let alone desire, had become my sun. Had become the star of my every waking thought. But he had. He had become my center—the anchor that kept me still.

The seventh installment of the ”Hades Hangmen” series wasn’t as painfully dark as some of the earlier books, but still had an amazing plot, passionate romance, and heart-pounding action. The adversaries in this book continue to be the hierarchy of the Ku Klux Klan and a powerful Mexican cartel who formed a partnership through their dealings in human trafficking. The Hangmen may not be fighting against the insane religious Cult anymore but they are still fighting the same war and acting as the protectors of innocent women and children.

Tanner Ayers, Prince of the Ku Klux Klan, and Adelita Quintana, Princess of a Mexican drug cartel did not fall in love at first sight. They were born enemies, but somehow by being forced to spend time with each other, Tanner and Lita learn that they are kindred spirits. They’ve always been forced to lead lives their fathers chose for them. There is no such thing as free will in their world. Bigotry and hate subside and a deep and all-consuming love develops between them.

Tanner ends up leaving Lita for a while but promises that he’ll be back to get her. He had to cut ties with the klan and with the help of his best-friend Tank, he found a new family in the Hangmen. He knew he would need his brothers in order to get his woman back.

The Hangmen are in for the fight of their lives. Blood will be shed. Lives are cut short. Shocking truths are revealed. All of our favorite Hangmen and their old ladies play pivotal roles in this wildly entertaining storyline. I could not put this book down until I got to the very end!

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 5

Heroine: 4.5

Plot: 5

Angst: 4.5

Steam: 4

Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

That was disappointing. Their love didn’t really build up it just happened, more like lust and who flirts with a nazi even if it is to make them uncomfortable? This will be the last book I read by Tillie cole. it didn’t feel like a hangmen book and I didn’t really feel the love between tanner and adelita it felt like pure lust. the twists weren’t shocking I guessed most of them. the klan and cartel were supposed to be these big bad villains but were killed off fast. Tanner hardly apologized for his past. Adelita was a disappointing character I wanted to see a feisty dark Latina put a nazi in his place instead she just gave her virginity to him before he even changed! I had been excited for this book but once Tillie said a white Latina was her adelita inspo all I could imagine was a white girl. The only other woman of color, letti who is dark,is described as manly, insensitive, not pretty so what does she do when she wants inspiration for a beautiful Latina? Picks a white one. It seems the only girls described as beautiful have light skin 🤔...I’m starting to see a pattern I don’t like. why is dark not beautiful in these books? Why only “lightly tanned skin” as she puts it? BIG SPOILER she’s styxs sister so OF COURSE she half white because why would we get a dark skinned non white Latina!? Honestly when I read that I was D.O.N.E. An awful twist to connect them to the others. I’ve had problems with this series since book 4 but kept reading because I wanted to support but Shes sympathetic to characters who don’t deserve it. Hush didn’t have to be light skinned/blue eyed why couldn’t he be a handsome dark man? cowboy was racist he had the same views as his old friends he didn’t like physical violence but still believed in what his friends said, hush forgave him too easily. Tank joined the kkk because he wanted brothers? U don’t become racist because you’re lonely? Beauty was ready to sleep with him/trusted him before he told her he left so again sympathetic to racists. There’s too much sympathy for racists and the few characters of color we get are disappointing. Dark skin/indigenous features are beautiful and I can no longer support someone who can’t see that. Maybe I’m too sensitive or maybe u need to experience racism first hand to get it but I’m no longer a fan

Oh wow! Tillie Cole has done it again with her dark MC series! This time it is with Tanner; the White Prince Klu klux klan heir... or I should say EX heir because he left the evil group to become a Hangman!!! And the Princess of the Mexican cartel.. Teo people who should never be together; but they fall in love against all odds! Of course, nothing comes easy for any of the Hades Hangmen; and believe me, there is a ton of angst, sorrow, pain... you name it for them to conquer through! I was hooked immediately and on the edge of my seat during all of the secrets that come to light in this 7 th book in the series.

I can’t express enough that this is a series you want to read! It isn’t always an easy series to read... but for all the darkness, when the light comes... it is all the more rewarding! I’m amazed how Tillie Cole keeps this series alive and is bringing more and more broken and interesting characters to our attention! I can’t wait for the next instalment!!!

Thanks to my beautiful buddy Steph for reading this whole series so far with me! I couldn’t have done it without holding your hand!!! Can’t wait for the next!!!

Umm...is the author really trying to romanticize a fucking member of the KKK? Is this really what I’m reading in the blurb? Someone tell me this isn’t true because this is fucking disgusting. Especially today when Nazis and KKK garbage are crawling out of the sewers they’d been hiding in, that an author would try to make a KKK member a redeemable hero.

I can’t believe this shit

I fell deeply in love with this series, when I read the first book, It Ain't Me, Babe, years ago. I have loved every single book in this series, since, though book 2, Heart Recaptured, still remains to be my favorite out of all of them. I am a fangirl ;)

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor fangirl\ gif

The reason I love this series so much, is because these books are so different from anything else I have ever read. They really test my limits. Now I love me some biker books, but these books are so much more than MC books. They play with such darkness... Before starting this series, you should know that you are walking into a world of MC's, violence, death, crime, drugs, rape, (sexual) child abuse, kidnapping, cults, KKK, racism. Plenty of triggers to go around.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor such a fucked up world gif

But it is also a world of friendship, brotherhood, familytrust and lots of love...

It is one of the best series I have ever read, and anytime another book comes out, I can't wait to see what the author did ... There is no way for me to start one of these books and not finish it in one go. Which is what I did with this one as well...so I am zombie girl right now :P

This book was a bit different from all the previous ones, I think. Even though it still centers around some very serious issues, such as child abuse, racism (KKK) and human trafficking, there is no on-page sexual abuse or rape, it felt a bit milder... Not that being beat to shit by your father isn't enough...

Gerelateerde afbeelding

It is about a love that should have been impossible... A forbidden kind of love, between two people who should hate one another. And they do...for a very short while. Because what they say is true. There is a very thin line between Love and Hate, and it doesn't take much to cross it...

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess gif

This story is about the White Prince and the Cartel Princesa... A couple that should have never been... But they are. Born as enemies, they will have to fight a war to be together.

Thankfully, they won't have to fight alone.

I absolutely loved this one, even though it was a bit milder than all the previous books. Now don't get me wrong...I still cried plenty of tears and screamed plenty of screams :P

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor kiss close up gif

I can't wait to see what this author has in store for us next, I hope there will be many more books in this series.

I highly recommend this one and any other book from this series !!

"We were at war."
description

Darkness Embraced is the seventh book in the Hades Hangmen Series. Although it can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the entire series from the beginning. Tanner Ayers, a former KKK member, has found his home with the Hades Hangmen. Although he has found loyalty and peace with his brothers, he has never forgotten the love he left behind. Adelita Quintana, a cartel princess, and Tanner fell in love when their fathers were doing business together. A Mexican Princess and KKK royalty could never be together. After being ripped apart, Adelita never believed she and Tanner would be together again. However, when Adelita finds herself back in Tanner's arms, the love and passion they share are reignited.

description
“He was never meant to mean anything to me. He was meant to be a man I loved to hate. A man who, for whatever reason, I felt pulled toward, but who was meant to be disposable. I did not count on falling for the infamous White Prince of the Ku Klux Klan.”
Told in multiple POV, Darkness Embraced is another blockbuster read with action, suspense, passion, and all of the Hangmen family that we love! Every time I rejoin the Hangmen world, I find myself captivated every single moment spent between those pages. The love between Adelita and Tanner is passionate and the struggles they both had to overcome in order to together make their romance that much more beautiful.
“He was worshipping me; cherishing me. Trying to convince me that I belonged with him."
Overall, I am a huge fan of Tillie Cole and the entire Hades Hangmen Series. If you enjoy dark romance and MC love, you do not want to miss Darkness Embraced!

4,5 'Mi amor' stars

“Yes . . . I will marry you. Someday. Somehow. No matter how impossible, we’ll find a way to be together.”

Double wowzers!! Tillie Cole never disappoints in delivering an 'on the edge of a seat' action. Holy shit! That was a motherfucking epic ride. From the first scene to the last I was holding my breath because this book really doesn't let you catch your breath. And I don't know how to explain everything that happened in the story without giving away some major spoilers.

I can just say that shit went down big time in this one, there were many heartbreaking scenes there (I'm not sure if I will ever be alright again), there was a lot of unexpected revelations and one very surprising moment which I loved so very much.

Yeah, I know, totally unhelpful review but it really is the best to go in blind. I don't want to ruin shocking surprises. However, I can gush over Tanner and Adelita. I fucking love this couple! I still love Flame and Maddie the best but Tann and Lita definitely became my second favorite.

I fought the lump in my throat. “I thought you were dead.”
Adelita’s lip trembled. “No . . .” She smiled. “It seems like God wanted us together, after all, Tanner Ayers. It seems we were destined to be.”
“I love you,” I rasped and cupped her face, careful not to hurt her.
“Ti amo, mi amor.”
She was here, a fucking miracle. She was beside me . . . telling my unworthy ass that she loved me. She fucking loved me. She was marrying me.

description

“Tanner . . .” she whispered, her Mexican accent thick as it rolled around my name. It used to bother me, hearing my name said in such a way. Now it was the best fucking thing to ever hit my ears.

Just when you think you are immune to Tillie's dark ways, she finds a way to pull at your last heartstring.

This installment follows Tanner, formerly known as the White Prince of the KKK, and Lita, the daughter of a drug lord in Mexico. We get flashbacks to Tanner's childhood where he was taught to hate people of a different skin color. So imagine his surprise when he falls for Lita when he is a teenager.

“But most of all . . .” He took a deep breath. “Most of all . . . I fucking hate that I want you so much"

It turns quickly turns into a Romeo and Juliet situation. They have to say good-bye to each other to ensure one another's safety, but Tanner promises that he will be back for Lita.

"I love you, princess…Never forget that, even when I’m gone from here…I’ll only ever protect you…I’m gonna find a way for us to be together…someday…no matter how long it takes…”

We know that Tanner left the KKK and joins the Hades Hangmen, but that isn't enough to save Lita just yet. They are at war with the Mexican cartel, Lita's father, and Lita has been promised to another man. He hasn't made contact with Lita for two years and he wonders if she still wants him, loves him.

"We hadn’t spoken for years; it had been too dangerous, too risky to her safety. But it didn’t mean she didn’t still own my dark heart. The bitch had it. would be the only one who ever did. Without her I was dead inside, had been for two years without her. Two long fucking years without having her in my arms. Two years without contact. Wondering if she was still mine. But knowing, with every new day that passed, that I was no good for her.She didn’t need me in her life.We were at war.She was beautiful, and she deserved someone who could give her more. But even knowing that, I couldn’t walk away from her."

This was such an emotional and unexpected ride. Like I mentioned earlier, one would think I would be immune to Tillie's tricks but, unfortunately, I will never be prepared when entering back into the Hangmen's world. There is so much to this book than Tanner and Lita's story. Some major bombs are dropped about some our favorite characters. Things that made my mouth drop open. Darkness Embraced is definitely one of my favorite books in this series.

1 star, DNF. This book is about a Nazi KKK member who is “redeemed” by his love for a Mexican cartel princess. It includes lengthy flashbacks during his time in the KKK, and descriptions of his grooming and prejudice thoughts.

I don’t care what efforts were made to show how he has renounced his beliefs or became reformed. I don’t care if he cures the planet of all racism and single-handedly disband the KKK. ANY romanticization of established, organized racism is deeply wrong.

I had problems with this book and I tried to rate it objectively but as a Mexican I just can’t. So the first big problem the white washing. Adelita is half Mexican but the girl that influenced the character looks European. Why make a book about a Nazi falling for someone he shouldn’t when he ends up with a white Mexican who speaks perfect English born in American and can easily be one of his past aryan girlfriends? Adelita was a weak character who fell in love with looks there was no emotional development the love was based purely on lust. How insulting to name such a character after an important figure in Mexican history a female soldier someone strong and brave not naive and ignorant. The author doesn’t seem to understand the absolute hatred we feel for these people and the fear and pain we suffered because of people like the ones she loves to write about and honestly she’s a little too willing to forgive so easily. It makes me wonder what the author actually thinks of these people as well as all those who liked this book...

A romance novel about how romantic love can destroy a lifetime of rigid, ideological racist conditioning.

This is a story about a different kind of forbidden love: a love that might seem commonplace for most of us who are normal and easygoing, without rigid racial prejudice conditioning issues that were entrenched within our psyche from the time we were children. It's a story about how true love can overcome the vilest form of racism and bigotry:

“It was always a doomed love, Lita,” Luis said.

I knew he wasn’t being harsh. It was true. “The heir of the Ku Klux Klan and the Quintana cartel princesa. In every way possible you were not meant to fall in love.”

“I fell in love with his soul, Luis. Not his skin color or the family he was raised in. And he fell for mine.” I exhaled a long breath. “In a perfect world, we would be together.”

Tillie Cole is a talented author but I usually avoid this specific series of hers ( Hades Hangmen ) because I get too upset, angry, frustrated and sad when I read novels with heroines who've been sexually molested since the age of 8, physically brutalized and even sold into sexual slavery. I enjoyed It Ain't Me, Babe, was sick to the stomach after reading Heart Recaptured, was kinda bored with Flame and Maddie from Souls Unfractured, loved the repentant former anti H, Rider and his heroine in Deep Redemption but gave up on the series afterwards, especially when the author included the menage novel. I only rated It Ain't Me, Babe because I couldn't recall details in the others to provide a proper rating, and, to be honest, I'd been too preoccupied reading and reviewing regency romances and harlequin presents novels to care.

I decided to read this new addition to the series after I checked out a few reviews and discovered that there's no rape or sexual slavery for this specific heroine. I'd also never read a novel with MC's who hated each other so much, at first, because of their different ethnic backgrounds. Maybe I ought to amend that comment a little: MC's who were conditioned and taught, by their parents, to hate each other. Tanner, the H, is the heir apparent to leader of the Texan Klu Klux Klan; the "White Prince" upon whom the vile, future ethnic cleansing and other nefarious aims of the KKK depend. Adelita is the 22 year old daughter of the most powerful, richest and dangerous Mexican cartel boss; she's the "Cartel's Princess".

This is the H, Tanner:

This is the heroine, Adelita:

The H was absolutely horrible, rude, mean, nasty and racist to Adelita when they first met. The author didn't spare us from the brunt of the H's vile racist comments and thoughts. It did make me a little uncomfortable to read the early scenes when the MC's had just met because the racist antipathy was at a peak then.

Taking advantage of her distraction, I leaned in and snarled, “You don’t do anything for me. So you can stop acting like I’d ever find you appealing. I won’t ever stick my cock in your pussy.”

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 1016-1018). Kindle Edition.

Tanner had developed an instant sexual attraction to Adelita, but he fought those feelings for the heroine with every ounce of his racist soul. Tanner had been cruelly brainwashed and conditioned, by his evil sociopathic father. His father, the governor of Texas, had literally beaten the bigotry into his son. When the H had been an innocent 6 year child, he'd become friends with a young Mexican immigrant boy named Raphael. Tanner's father had nipped that friendship in the bud, in the most vicious manner, by pummelling the young hero until his lip was bleeding and his face was bruised.

Afterwards, he'd left a KKK children's storybook that brainwashed the young H into believing that all non white kids ( and their relatives ) are inferior and evil. The adult Tanner still wears the physical scars of the many similar beatings he'd received from his dad, each time he showed signs of straying from the doctrine of the KKK. One of the most poignant, uncomfortable and vivid scenes in the early part of the story, occurs when Tanner feels he needs to wash his body clean in order to rid himself of the taint ( and concomitant guilt and self loathing ) after kissing Adelita:

I slammed the door shut and practically ran to the shower. I squeezed my eyes shut as I let the water wash away the coconut from my skin, the mint and rose scent. Wash Adelita’s touch, her fucking impure touch, off my body . . . and her taste from my mouth. The mint and sweetness and the fucking feel of her whorish tongue sliding next to mine. The feel of her tits against my chest and her between my legs.

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 1052-1056). Kindle Edition.

Yeah, that's not nice to read, but it was necessary to the storyline because this novel is about the overcoming of such bigotry:

He took a deep breath. “Most of all . . . I fucking hate that I want you so much.”

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 1322-1323). Kindle Edition.

Their first sex scene, where Tanner takes the virginity of the then 20 year old Adelita, was filled with a lot of lust-hate, on both sides:

“I fucking hate that I want these lips,” he growled in between kisses, never once moving his mouth away, his lips dragging across mine as he spoke. He kissed me again.

“I hate that I want this body.” Tanner pushed his tongue into my mouth. My tongue battled against his as his thigh slid between my legs. I clawed at the bare skin of his back. I needed to be closer. I wanted to crawl into him. I wanted to get inside him until I possessed his very soul.

“I hate that I want these tits.” His hand dropped from my neck to my breasts. My eyes rolled as fire traced through my body. “And I want this pussy.” Tanner’s hand moved between my thighs, and I cried out.

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 1327-1332). Kindle Edition.

It's about a man who, in spite of his legacy of hate and all the related obstacles, falls in love with a forbidden woman and learns to become a better human being. Tanner fell in love with Adelita and it was such a powerful love that he turned his back on the KKK and on his legacy as the "White Prince". He joined the Hades Hangmen MC in an effort to build a future for himself, away from the KKK, so that he could return to Adelita, marry her and have a family. These two had such a powerful love for each other - a love so strong that they were both celibate after they'd declared their intentions and confessed their feelings.

I emphasized that final part because the MC's had not confessed their love for each other after the first time they'd had sex. In fact, I don't think they had fallen in love with each other at that point. Adelita had suggested that they just put the sex down to a one time experience and forget about each other afterwards:

“All we have is tonight, in this room. Tomorrow you’ll be gone, and when our paths cross again they will be for business only...

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 1509-1510). Kindle Edition.

The MC's had made no commitment to each other and so when Tanner returned to Texas after this first sexual encounter, he did have sex with a couple of women:

Two months. I’d been gone for two months. Two months of being back with my people, my family. I’d fucked pure WASP sluts, trying to remember who the fuck I was. Two months of taking down enemies and burning the fiery cross. And two months of trying to rid myself of the shame that I’d fucked Quintana’s daughter. And two months to school myself for this moment. The moment I saw her again.

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 1914-1917). Kindle Edition.

I admit that bothered me a little but the author didn't dwell on it, there were NO scenes with him and other women and I consoled myself with the thought that he and Adelita had not made any promises to each other at that point.

It was on his return to Mexico that things changed and they fell in love. Tanner's jealous, possessive caveman side was born when he noticed that her father's second in command, Diego, was kinda obsessed with her:

When everyone had started eating, I looked up at Diego to see him watching me. I met his stare and let him know with my fucking eyes that I hated his spic ass on sight. And promised him that if I ever got the chance, I would fucking end him.

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 1962-1964). Kindle Edition.

The MC's soon declared their love, started their forbidden clandestine love affair and Tanner proposed to Adelita, by giving her a symbolic but cute makeshift engagement ring. Adelita gave him her golden cross neck chain as a sign of her devotion. From this point onwards, they remained faithful to each other even when they were separated for two years after Tanner left the KKK and was therefore unable to return to see her.

The story deals with the MC's perilous journey back into each other's arms after a painful and sad two year separation. When they meet again, it's no longer race that stands between them; it's war. Tanner's MC abducted Adelita ( a case of mistaken identity ) and this escalated the war between the Hades Hangmen MC on one side and the Mexican Cartel and the KKK on the opposite. And yes, it is ironic that the KKK and the Mexican Cartel are working together. They don't like each other but they cooperate because the love of money trumps bigotry. Both groups are actually involved in the seedy, illegal sexual slavery of stolen women.

This novel was filled with intense, amped up angst, OTT drama, had lots of hot erotic sex scenes, was heart wrenching, sweet, romantic and brought me to the edge of tears - tears of happiness, anger and sadness. Tillie Cole is skilled at wringing our hearts out and putting it back together again. Tanner and Adelita found their happiness again only to be wrenched apart once more, as collateral damage victims of the war between the MC and the cartel-KKK alliance. When Diego, the man who's also obsessed with Adelita, murders a young MC prospect, the heroine feels it's all her fault. She feels responsible because she thinks that the young man's murder wouldn't have happened if she had returned to marry Diego.

Adelita then made the heartbreaking decision to return to Diego in order to prevent more carnage. It's at this point that this reader's heart begins to break because Tanner falls apart when he realizes that he will lose the woman he loves:

“You’re trying to leave me,” Tanner bit, and yanked at his arms. “You can’t fucking leave me, baby. Please . . .”

When Tanner’s voice grew hoarse with emotion, it ruined me. But I kept pushing through. My eyes misted and blurred my vision. But I didn’t fight it. With every word spoken, I was losing a piece of my soul. I doubted any of it would be with me when I left.

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 3663-3666). Kindle Edition.

And her parting speech did make my eyes brim with tears:

“I dream that we meet each other in some distant future and recognize one another’s souls. And we’ll be found.”

I envisioned the scene in my head. “Just you and me. No prejudices or hatred would be a part of our lives. No one would disagree with our union. Culture or skin color would not even be a factor.”

I smiled. “You would simply love me, and I would simply love you.”

I felt like I could physically feel my heart tearing into shreds as I shared my hopes. “But this life doesn’t hold that dream for us, mi amor.”

I shook my head. “It has always been a fight.”

I dropped my forehead to his and watched as a tear fell from the corner of his eye. I couldn’t bear the sight. I couldn’t bear to see this strong man, the man I loved with my entire heart, so hurt.

“It has to be this way, baby. I must stop the pain. I have to try to make things better for everyone.”

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 3669-3675). Kindle Edition.

The lovers are parted for a short, traumatic few days and it all goes to hell for Tanner when he receives fake news that Adelita has been murdered, by Diego, in Mexico. But all eventually ends well for the MC's, who are reunited after a vicious new spate of warfare leads to the downfall of the cartel and a major victory over the KKK. There was a lot of bloodshed and violence but there was also a big new revelation for Adelita: it turns out that she's not the biological daughter of Alfonso Quintana. She's actually the biological daughter of a Mexican MC President ( Diablos MC ) and an American woman named Lucy Sinclair.

The late Lucy Sinclair was also the biological mother of Styx ( I LOVE him ! ) the hottie, tortured H from It Ain't Me, Babe. Styx is happy to welcome his half sister into his family and into the MC, as she's now the wife ( aka "Old Lady" ) of Tanner. And I loved all the scenes with Styx, Mae and their little baby son Charon. It was with much joyous relief that I ended this novel, because, for once, Tillie Cole didn't put her heroine through the torture of multiple rapes and child sexual abuse.

The best part was that love overcome all the hatred and bigotry:

The White Prince.
The cartel princess.
The world tried to keep us apart.
We told the world “fuck you.”

Tillie Cole. Darkness Embraced (Hades Hangmen 7) (Kindle Locations 4772-4773). Kindle Edition.

Safety: There is no OW and a wannabe OW. The MC's agreed, definitely, to go their separate ways and forget about each other after the first time they had sex. They didn't declare their love for each other at that point and they both had no intention of having a relationship or of having sex again. No promises were made on either side. The H slept with a couple of women after the first time he'd had sex with the heroine. However, when he met her again, this time they fell in love, he proposed and promised to be faithful. After these declarations were made, both MC's were faithful/celibate during their unwanted 2 year separation period. I guess this will not be totally safe for everyone but it was safe for me.

~ 4.5 stars ~

First of all the cover is even more perfect after reading the book, it just fits this story so well. I was happy to dive into the dark and dangerous Hades Hangmen world again. It is one of my favorite series and I just absolutely love how the intricate main storyline keeps on developing more and more each book. Everything is connected and sometimes things aren't what they seem. Even though this book is mainly focusing on Tanner and Adelita, we still get pieces of Styx and a look into his past and current life. I adored his moments with Mae and it makes me want to reread their story again. I love that Tillie Cole really takes the time to develop every character in this series, and it makes me feel even stronger for them. The series and character development is just out of this world good.

The war between the cartel, klan and Hangmen is getting more brutal, serious and dangerous by the day. The love and connection between Tanner and Adelita was beautiful, they are enemies when they first meet, but they both can't fight the forbidden attraction. The loyalty between these two was phenomenal, they were perfect for each other. Darkness Embraced was dark, dangerous, suspenseful, action-packed, emotional and so beautiful at the same time. There were so many moments for which I didn't see a way out for the characters, and my heart broke for them. There were also a couple of twists the author added, which made me sad and happy at the same time. I absolutely loved this book and I was happy I was reunited with my favorite characters again.

*** 4 White Prince and Cartel Princess STARS ***

PopSugar2019: 39.

***5 ‘A Spectrum of Emotion’ Stars***

Yaaassss bitch!

This right here is why I’m a #fangirl of not only this series, but the author as well.

Darkness Embraced had it ALL! “A spectrum of emotion” is all at once an understatement and yet perfectly describes this dary, gritty and emotional book in every way. I got everything I wanted in a Hangmen Book and has me NEEDING more.

“Worth All the Stars In the Sky”

I adored Tanner and Adelita. ADORED these two. Adelita is fierce and yet gentle. She’s a cartel princess who has been exposed to the dark side of life and still has a vein of naivete in her that keeps her heart golden. Tanner. I’ve always curious about him, especially after reading Crux Untamed & Beauty Found, and to watch his view of the world shift and become broader was a sight to see. He’s all kinds of protective, determined and smexy as all get out and his heart is golden, even though it bleeds Hangmen black.

Their journey to their HEA is all kinds of Romeo and Juliet goodness done Hangmen style. The ups and downs are numerous but through it all their connection was undeniable. I loved experiencing how they fell for each other, how hard they fought for the others hearts even when everything was falling apart around them and loved where they were at in the end.

“Crazier Peering Down At Crazy”

The twists and turns in this baby were numerous, but very well executed, especially since I definitely didn’t see most of them coming. This one is still dark, though not AS dark as some of the previous books have been, but the triggers are still real ~ so reader beware. But of course, a good portion of my love for this series falls on the Hangmen, their women and those who are allowed to breath the same air they do and live. I loved catching up with all of them, and Viking still holds a special spot in my heart ~ though Rudge is coming real close to sharing it with him ~ but there are a few newbies in the mix and lemme tell you, I’m calling dibs on “Crazier” (trust me when you meet him you’ll understand. And as always, we get a few teases on what may be coming down the chute from possible couples to where the story arc is going and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one because no matter which direction it goes, it is promising to be all kinds or dark and gritty goodness!

After all the drama that happened on Tik Tok about this book, I wasn't surprised when this review doubled its likes in one day. But I just want to make something very clear.

description

As a fan of Tillie Colle and the Hangmen series, I stand by my original review, I don't like this book, but I don't think it needs to be wiped off the face of the earth, and I am really upset by all the hate and harassment Tillie is getting right now.

The warnings are there guys, if you pick up this book you will know what you are getting, not for a second did I think the protagonists are good guys, from the beginning it is quite clear that all the characters are horrible human beings, their murderers, criminals, psychopaths and many worse things, especially in this book where even the female protagonist is also a very bad person. But that doesn't mean they're not human, and Tillie with her amazing writing shows us that.

I understand the complaints because I feel them too, when I was reading this book it kept bothering me how much the author tried to justify Tanner's actions. But this story opens up many conversations about the possibility of former KKK members having a path of vindication, and other discussions about it. I will never be in favor of banning books, no matter how horrible some of them are, at the end of the day they are a reflection of our society.

The funny thing for me about all this drama is that what disappointed me most about this book, years ago when I read it, was the author's ignorance when it came to creating a believable Mexican character who didn't even take the time to Google how to say I love you in Spanish and her need to make Adelita her half white, when many fans as me, were really excited that she was finally giving us a female BOC character.

Do I hate this book? Yeah.
Do I hate Tille Colle and wish for her demise? Hell no

BTW
Amazon already remove the entire Hangmen series from their cataloge, and even the digital copies I by where remove from my library, witch is bullshit and I am planing of complaine.

Darkness Embraced was the seventh book in the Hades Hangmen series by Tillie Cole. This series is best read in order.

I waited eagerly for every Hades Hangmen series book and this was no exception. However, I knew it would be a tough one. I knew the Hangmen had been at war with the KKK, and I knew from previous books that Tyler, the former Prince heir to the KKK, had defected to the Hangmen, but unfortunately to get his full story we had to go back to his beginning. Cole was never one to gloss over a subject so I knew it would be dark and disturbing. The series was not for the faint of heart.

Adelita Quintana was the princess of the Quintana cartel. She was beautiful, independent, and proud of her Mexican heritage. She met Tyler a few years ago, the White Prince heir, and detested him on site. But as fate had it, it was a modern day Romeo and Juliet story.

I was captivated from the beginning. True to Cole’s style, some situations were disturbing, filled with abuse, death, violence and captivity. But also true to the series, the Hangmen were fiercely protective for those they loved - and they loved hard and true - providing a sweetness mixed in with the crazy and gruffness.

It was well written and well developed. It had been a while since I read the last book of the series, so at times it was confusing, but in the end, it came full circle. Cole always closes a loop with other loops left open for the continuation of the series and Darkness Embraced was no different. Viking’s story is next but there are several stories still left to be told and Cole threw in some twists to make them even more explosive when they are eventually told. And as always, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one....

‘I love you, princess…Never forget that, even when I’m gone from here…I’ll only ever protect you…I’m gonna find a way for us to be together…someday…No matter how long it takes…’

Tanner and Adelita finally got their story and what a wild emotional ride it was. Tillie Cole had us hooked with her first Hangmen book and every single book thereafter. And yet again, there was so much we loved about Darkness Embraced we’re not sure where to start or how much to say as we don’t want to spoil it for readers yet to pick it up.

‘The princess and the prince of opposing kingdoms, unable to stay away from each other.’

If you think dark fairy-tale set in the world of the Brothers Grimm, where the Prince and Princess must fight for their true love you’ll be headed in the right direction. Add in the Hangmen MC, the Ku Klux Klan and the Mexican cartel and you’ve got an explosive addition to one of the most brilliant biker series out there. Tillie Cole is a natural storyteller, one of the most gifted we know, and we’re as stunned and in awe of her talent as we were when we picked up her first book six years ago. In Tillie’s own words, which we share the sentiments of: “Our Hangmen world kicks ass!”

“It’s all I know. I was born, then crafted into the perfect White Prince. Beaten if I dared speak to someone outside of the white race.”

Tanner, ‘The White Prince who betrayed his race’, he has intrigued us since we met him. Abhorred for what he once stood for, loved for what he has endured and survived. As we learn of his story where he was groomed by violence and how he fell for the ‘forbidden’ we read the words with tears in our eyes. “We are not our Fathers.” When love is seen as betraying your race, in a world you’ve been indoctrinated to inhabit and serve by any means, you know you have a fight on your hands. Tanner stole our hearts as his story unfolded from a man who was rightly hated to a man trying to redeem his past atrocities.

‘The love I felt for Tanner…Sometimes, in my darkest of moments, I wondered if this level of love, this soul-shattering kind of possession, was worth all the pain and heartache.’

Adelita, The Mexican Cartel Princess, a fierce and beautiful girl who lives in a world of lies, deception, brutality and hatred. An isolated girl who has her entire world turned upside down yet she displays such an inner strength with dreams of love and family. A lonely girl lost. Until Tanner and the Hangmen. Adelita was a beautiful character with her loyalty and need to protect.

“Adelita Quintana. You’re making me want things I never dreamed I could want.”

Darkness Embraced was just perfection -in all its twists- the pages literally felt alive in our hands. Told in past and present we live with our characters through their terror and tragedy, their love and passion, their discovery and redemption. We were with our beloved Hangmen as we experienced the utter despair of violence and its horrific consequences. Once again, there’s a fine line between love and hate, but ultimately love will win if you light up the way and fight for it with your entire being.

“It is you, Adelita. You are the one for Tanner, and he is the one for you. You are one another’s light in the dark.”

And so the story continues….and we can’t wait to embrace more of this deliciously intense and passionately dark world, penned by the magnificent Tillie Cole.
