“Love at first sight.” It’s such a cliché. But when I saw her across a crowded room I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
One can say I’m the modest type. I don’t walk up to a girl, introduce myself and expect her to fall at my feet just because I’m a NHL player. If friends didn’t give me a little push me in her direction, I probably never would have approached her. But I’m so glad I did.
The electricity between us blew me away. From our first kiss to the first night we spent together it was clear. Paige was the one.
But something is holding her back, And with the trade deadline looming, she’s using it as an excuse to push me away.
Luckily, I know how to chase dreams; it’s how I made it to the NHL. I like a challenge, and I never quit until I get what I want.
This is the first book I have read in the series and it was not difficult to follow the book. I really loved this book except for one small thing the heroine was a bit off. She did things and said things that were a little off for me to follow sometimes but I kept reading because the star of the book is Chris. He is my new book boyfriend that I will carry for a long time because he was so sweet and innocent of the ice I just fell for him hook line and sinker.
Paige was a good character but she was hard to follow and I did not understand why she didn't get that Chris really loved her from their first meeting because he was smitten with her and his friends encouraged him to go and talk to her that he was so happy they did that because he wanted her. And as they spend more and more time together Chris knows Paige is the one for him and no one else.
Chris is a professional hockey player, but he is not your typical athlete as he is not an arrogant playboy but rather a sweet and sexy man with insecurities of his own. When his friends see that he is attracted to Paige they convince him to approach her.
Paige is a high school English teacher who has a painful past which is influencing her present. She is very attracted to Chris, but she believes that he is too good to be true and it will all come crashing down. Chris knows that Paige is all he has ever wanted but convincing her could be the greatest challenge he has ever faced.
This is the first book I have read by this author, but I would definitely read her future books. I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold and the secondary characters.
Chasing Paige had a really great story line for a super sweet story, and I totally LOVED the absolutely yummy Chris who was such a shy gentleman. See, he saw Paige across a crowded room, and fell hard for her in that instance. So he goes after her, asks her out, and they start on a sweet journey. Paige, however, I didn't imprint on. She just seemed off for me for whatever reason. There were some moments in the story that she made decisions that were just ridiculous in my opinion, and didn't fall in line with the whole premise that she was an intelligent woman. Anyway, Chris & Paige did have seriously hot chemistry, so there was some spice in this story. And I loved the cast of secondaries that were made up of Chris' teammates, & Paige's roommate, as they added humor to this story. I'm excited for them to get their own stories. So that's all from me, and if you want to know if Chris got Paige on board with his plan for making her his, you'll have to one click the baby.! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This book will make you swoon, sigh, and even blush! The instalove in this relationship will knock you off your feet! I swooned so dang much because this is such a sweet read with a few sexy, steamy moments in between!
From the first time Chris sees Paige to the beautiful ending of this story, you will be swooning. Chris is such a sweet character and he completely falls for Paige. But Paige’s past keeps her on edge during their relationship. Paige has to overcome her fears and decide if Chris is it for her. But when something unexpected happens it might just be the perfect moment for Paige to realize what’s right in front of her. And it also helps that their friends Zee and Liz jump in to help push the couple together
This is a great hockey read that any sports romance fan would love! This was my first read from Ellen Devlin and I will definitely be reading more and hoping to see even more stories blossom in this series! Especially a story about the expert meddlers Liz and Zee!
So I absolutely loved this book. The author hooked me from the beginning and didn’t let go until the last page. The characters were interesting and I felt like I knew them. It is a book that will stay with you long after. Hockey books are one of my faves. This one fell at the top of my list. It is a book that you will be able to read over and over again. This was my first read by Ellen Davlin and I will definitely be reading more (hint hint - Liz and Zee).
Chris and Paige are two characters who have had tough pasts. They have to learn to overcome their past so they can get to their future. They have such sweet moments and mix some steaminess in with it. They are definitely people you can connect with and want to be friends with. When adding Liz and Zee, you have this amazing romance book.
I liked Chasing Page by Ellen Devlin it would be the first but not last book that I've read by the author so can't wait to read more by her . I fell head over heals in love with the characters the story line was just brilliant everything about it just made me silly grin through the whole book . If a couple was meant to be together it was Chris and Paige everything about the connection they share was supper intense . As I said so can't wait to read more by the author everything about her writing just draws me in . I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book **************************************** hero= 9 heroine= 9 secondary characters= 9 Chemistry=9 romance=7 humor=4 darkness level=3 action=2 mystery=3 enjoyment=9 angst=3 story line= 9 Story ending=9 character development=9 pacing=9 cover= 10 Blurb = 10 Stars =4 would I recommend this book=yes would I re read this book= yes would I read future books by this author= yes
First look and he was hooked. I loved how Chris knew he needed to get to know Paige, but was so shy and scared to reach out that he needed a pep talk from his bestie. LOL Enjoyable story from beginning to end. Loving this series! Jen
Chasing Paige is the first book by this author that I have read. I found the characters likable and enjoyed following Chris and Paige's story. As this is the second book in the series, I will definitely be checking out book one. ~Dawn
Chris was an intense person. I loved how he "knew" what he wanted would happen and went for it. He was patient, romantic, and generous. Paige took a bit getting used to because of her past, but it fell together at the end. There are some wonderful secondary characters in this story and some great families, fully supporting the relationship.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
This is the second book in this series, and is NHL hockey player Chris “Becks”, and high school English teacher Paige’s story. From the moment that Chris spots Paige across the room he knows he needs to get to know her. The chemistry between these two is instantaneous. This is a good story but in my opinion it was a tad disjointed in places, however, I did like the story, but unfortunately I did not love it. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Chasing Paige is the first book by this author that I have read. I found the characters likable and enjoyed following Chris and Paige's story. As this is the second book in the series, I will definitely be checking out book one.
Chasing Paige is dipping cotton candy into powdered sugar and topping it off with frosting and sprinkles levels of sweet. I’m talking this book is so loaded with sweet sugary goodness you will most definitely be getting a lecture from your dentist after reading. Watch that blood sugar too! In all seriousness this is the type of book I gravitate towards when I’m feeling down. This level of sweetness comes with a guarantee that you’ll be smiling immediately and provides the perfect escape from reality. Paige and Chris are insanely adorable right off the bat. With the biggest case of instalove from a swoon worthy hero I have ever read, I am not exaggerating with I say this book hits you with the cute right on the first page. That cute also does not stop AT. ALL. It just continues to grow with every page.
Paige is a high school English teacher sharing an apartment with her best friend Liz. Chris “Becks” Beckman is a professional hockey player who is very shy off the ice, except when performing job-related interviews or events. They meet and he is head over heels in love with her and waiting for her to catch up.
I wanted to love this book. I didn’t exactly dislike it, but I was very disappointed in it. I did receive this book as an ARC so I hope that some of the mistakes were corrected before release – namely Paige’s mother having the same last name as Chris when they first meet, although she is referred to by her correct name later. The first several paragraphs of the book were hard to figure out. They were written with an omnipotent POV, so we got both Chris’s actions and his best friend’s end of the phone conversation equally to the point where I wondered why they were on the phone to each other if they were in the same room, and also to figure out exactly which one this book was about.
I did like Chris and Paige’s relationship for the most part. They were sweet and adventurous. Paige just seemed off the entire time, though, as if the author never quite figured out the character. Sometimes she was almost Puritanical in her innocence – both sexually and in how life works in general. Other times she acted like they were shooting a porno with her actions and commentary. Not that there is anything wrong with that between two consenting adults, but the complete personality shifts were head-spinning. But one scene that really didn’t make sense for the character was after she and Chris had been together for a few months, she and LIz were watching a game on TV and he was involved in a fight during the game which was noted as a rarity for him. One brief punch on the ice and Paige is suddenly questioning their entire relationship, acting like he’s a terribly violent person and she couldn’t be with someone like that. So many times during the book it’s pointed out how intelligent Paige is, and yet she cannot separate one minor event during a tense hockey game with the real-life person she has been intimately involved with for months? The same illogical behaviour comes about later in the book, too, because of a hypothetical situation that may never even happen in Chris’s career. And for real: how many times can Paige call Chris “big guy”? I get it, she’s tiny and he’s a NHL player but come one! Several times per conversation just sounds cheesy.
I did like Liz a lot, and also Zee, Chris’s teammate. I would happily read a book about either of those characters. I would not, however, read this one again.
I enjoyed reading Chris and Paige’s story, and seeing how Liz and Zee’s friendship started. I really wish I’d read this book before Kissing Mickey (book 1) though, as the events in Chasing Paige happen before Kissing Mickey.
Saccharine - Paige's reactions to several situations were extreme and unbelievable. That any 28 year old woman, who's best friend & roommate was a huge hockey fan (and watched games all of the time in her presence) wouldn't know that there were fights in hockey or that professional athletes get traded was ridiculous.
A great story of hockey and the women who fall in love with them. Chris, the great hockey player, tall(6'1"), handsome, and well built and exceptionally endowed, and Paige whom he falls in love on first sight.
