After inheriting a small fortune, Willow Perry has everything she’s ever wanted. Except a husband, that is. But not just any husband will do. She’s looking for a grand love—someone who will challenge and excite her. It’s just her folly that the one man who interests her is a notorious rake. He’s as wild and passionate as Willow is sheltered and staid. Love between such polar opposites would be impossible … wouldn’t it?

Abraham Blackwood has devoted his life to the pursuit of pleasure. He’s perfectly happy to run his gaming den and ignore the expectations of society. But meeting the lovely Willow gives him another goal. Revenge. Making her pay for the sins her family committed against his will be easy. Ignoring how much he wants her—not only beneath him, but at his side, forever? That might prove to be infinitely more difficult.

When Willow discovers Abraham’s true intentions, can the fragile bonds they’ve begun to form survive? Or will the cards remain firmly stacked against their happily ever after?

I am clearly in a minority here but this was not a 4 or 5 star read for me.

It was incredibly pedestrian, predictable and utterly boring. There was no character development and the hero was just ridiculous. There was absolutely nothing to suggest why a man like him would be attracted to the heroine - let alone fall in love with her.

It is historically inaccurate and the behaviour of the heroine beggars belief.

The sex scenes are cheesy, mechanical, and unerotic. The use of terms like ‘phallus’ make this as exciting as a biology manual. Our heroine shows not the slightest concern that she is getting married and yet is no longer a virgin; something a girl at that time would have worried about. It’s so annoying when writers simply transport 21 st century women into a historical setting paying no respect to the cultural norms of the time. I mean, why bother? Disappointing but at least I know to avoid this writer in the future.

Fabulous Read As Always!! Dare To Be Scandalous by Tamara Gill is book 3 in the League of Unweddable Gentlemen series. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. Tamara is truly a gifted writer and I just get so excited when she have a new release coming out. The story is so original and her characters are great. This story has revenge, betrayal, loving friends, a very big secret, attraction, an engagement, misunderstandings, a gambling hell, a disguise and yes love. I highly recommend you read this book or any of Tamara Gill’s books. They are truly Fabulous!!!

***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Dare To Be Scandalous by, Tamara Gill was superb! Willow and Abe’s love affair was drama, passionate, steamy and a little erotic. I loved all of it. The way these two fought each other because of their true feelings for each was intense. Abe’s character was well written.
His whole in the book helped Willows character to become the woman, who she new that she could be and that was a fighter. She fought herself so hard to deny her feelings for him, but every time she looked at Abe all bets were off. This book is a wonderful read. I recommend this book. My fellow readers, until next time... read on!

My review :

Will he need for revenge destroy his chance at happiness...

In two days, this is the second book with a revenge trope I read, this is not my favorite theme as it is often angsty and painful stories.

While it went the way I supposed it will, at time, I was upset with the heroine.
She repeats again and again she is looking for love and from the beginning she knows who Lord Riley is and what he might never be, he is the total opposite of a man who will suit her request, still she pursues him and is even angered when he feigns indifference or ignores her.
She plays with fire and risks to be heavily burned, yet she willingly follows him.
I would have liked her better if she would have made a choice, lust and an affair with the rake and eventually the outcome which may result or a possible family with her perfect gentleman, but she played on both boards, which unsettled me.
As for Abe, his prey was very wrongly chosen, and the retribution he had in mind was harsher than the offense.
As I thought his mother’s given reason to leave him behind was a bit on the weak side, the truth is more believable but still.
Worse, when the truth is revealed, I do not understand how his mother could have kept everything hidden so long when her own son lived a dissolute life like his father, facing the same risk.

After Willow is a compassionate woman who knows what it is to live under someone’s will. When Abe should have been shunned by his friends for his part in Willow’s ruin, and a bit of groveling would have been welcome too.

This said, it is an enjoyable read with some steam.

Oh! I did enjoy this book so much, I finished it in a day! Abraham (Abe)Blackwood, Marquess Ryley was definitely an alpha male. He was dark, handsome, he worked to his own rules and had a reputation to match. Willow was able to live as she pleased due to her legacy. There was also more to the life Willow had led than Abe first thought. Willow was determined to experience things she felt she had missed out on and she was very daring in this mission. I enjoyed the banter between them. Abe tries to convince himself that he feels nothing for Willow and that he just wants revenge. I loved the friendship between the characters and how they looked out for each other. There were some heartfelt moments before a very satisfying ending. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank heavens this was free, because I am DNF on page 30. After a promising start from the prologue, it started its path to doom with me on page 4, where the graphic description of someone giving the H a blow job is in the very first sentence. The spiral downward continued on page 23, where our virgin h "could imagine how very sexy a slow-forming smile would be on his lips." Sexy...in 1827. I'm sure this was a word regularly used at that time. Then, on page 27, h tells H "I'm going to marry a gentleman for love" then thinks Not a union built on lust. Another common word used by virgins in 1827.

I'm done. This is not a historical romance. It's 21st century people in costumes, roleplaying. I don't mind some sex in historical romance; it doesn't have to be completely historically accurate, but this is ridiculous.

The Spanish Scoundrel. A chance of revenge. An innocent having no idea.
Willow had inherited her aunt's fortune when she had passed and she know felt she could seek out a man to love and have a family. It had been a year since her aunt's passing and she had opened up her house to give a masquerade ball. She was ready to break out and enjoy herself!
Two of her good friends and their husbands attended and they brought Abe Blackwood, Lord Ryley who rarely went out into society. Was he as handsome and decadent as everyone said?
He was handsome, a little mysterious and she found he was asked to watch and keep her safe from men trying to compromise her for her money. But that was kind of having the cat watch the canary!
A fast past steamy read that will have you in knots waiting to see what happens.
As always Tamara Gill delivers her trademark exciting story that will keep you reading and sighing at the end!

I wonder how this book got over 4 stars because it’s as dense as they come. The H is awful , the dialogue doesn’t flow and the chemistry and ultimately the love is not believable at all. i don’t think i’ll be finishing because i literally feel my brain cells reducing as i go along and i wanted that to happen i would have just gone to watt pad .

Holy cow, did I love this story. Abe is a horn-dog and loves his life. Willow is a girl who wants to live life and enjoy herself. When these two come together, fireworks and not always the good kind. I loved watching their hate to love relationship bloom. The characters are so well written and the story flows so fluently that I read this book in one afternoon. This is my favorite book of this series (so far). I cannot describe how much I loved it!

Willow Perry has been brought up by her aunt, when her aunt dies Willow is bequeathed with a fortune. She returns to society looking for a grand love—someone who will challenge and excite her. It’s just her folly that the one man who interests her is a notorious rake. He’s as wild and passionate as Willow is sheltered and staid. Love between such polar opposites would be impossible .Abraham Blackwood Marquis of Ryley has devoted his life to the pursuit of pleasure. This is the third book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own, the series is so very good I’d recommend reading in order. I loved both Abe & Willow, he's the rake known as the Spanish Scoundrel who doesn't give a toss about society & she’s the woman looking for love. Their attraction sizzles but they try to deny their feelings. Abe is set on revenge until he finds that some things are more important & of course he makes a complete hash of things, it was hugely entertaining how he struggled to win Willow. Another well written engrossing read that made me smile & uplifted my mood in these difficult times
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

The storyline had potential but I don’t feel enough chemistry between H and h. The characters are weak with H keeps insisting to have his revenge based on petty reason and h keeps telling herself the H is not suitable for her and yet cannot stop herself from getting hot and heavy with H.
I also not sure about h’s decision to marry someone else after sleeping with H. I thought it’s very important to remain chaste before marriage during that period and yet the h didn’t seem to feel guilty towards her fiance that she’s no longer a virgin.

I rarely leave poor reviews because I applaud the effort it takes to get a story to market. That said, this one was a chore to finish.

I really struggled to care about the main characters. Abe was crass and totally uninspiring. Willow had some redeeming qualities but was also pretty bland. It is a fairly short book, so I wasn't expecting too much, but this was basically just a series of sex scenes with a minimal storyline in between.

I'm not a pric

Juvenile prose with 'ball licking ' gratuitously thrown in within the first 10 pages to do something but certainly not to advance any story remotely interesting to me, I'll be kind and say this has been miscategorized under historical romance.

Sorry, this book doesn't deserve more than 2 stars. Although the 1st entry in the series was marred by many errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling, the story moved along quickly once it got past the "jilted duke" trope and I liked the H & h. The 2nd book still had the editing problems plus a silly villain with motivations repeated from the 1st book, but it was an OK read on a slow day. This book, though better edited than the 1st two entries, is a miss. I knew I was going to have difficulty liking the H with the crude way he's introduced, but wanted to give him a shot. His reasoning for revenge is flawed, but honestly, I've always found this trope silly; most writers can't pull it off in a believable way. But at some point the H moves abruptly from hating the h to caring about her, then loving her, and it simply doesn't work. Their connection is only based on lust, which the h seems to realize, but time after time she gives in anyway. The tenth time she blames herself for being stupid the reader can only nod in bored assent.

So, I didn't care for the h any more than the H. The author tries to make her more assertive and earthy than the typical ton debutante, but more often than not she just seems self-righteous and flip flops constantly when it comes to the H. She doesn't seem like a real person with a defined personality, just a stock romance novel heroine. POSSIBLE SPOILER: For example, h first laughs cynically when H reveals his secret, calling his behavior "ridiculous"; later she "understands" why he did what he did. Exactly when did this change of heart occur?? Too much is left to the reader to fill in.

Too much of the book is also H/h ruminating over and over about why they shouldn't get together, and then h is in his lap and they're hot and heavy (of course, one of those times HAS to be when she's in a carriage dressed as a man.) The H also seems silly on various occasions, because he's been salivating about ruining h physically, and she makes herself incredibly available, but then he hesitates because it wasn't his intention to bed her?? This guy owns a gambling hall with a seedy reputation, is introduced while his mistress is going down on him, but he suddenly gains a conscience because h gives him some tips on dealing with his servants and she was her aunt's companion for four years? (I really didn't like h's attitude toward her late aunt BTW. Uh, the woman more than paid you for your efforts, sweetie.)

Another thing that bothered me--a lot, in fact--were the condescending terms used that made this book seem like one written in the 70's or 80's. It's bad enough that the H is constantly called "the Spanish scoundrel," but the h also thinks of him as "animal-like" and when she gets angry she calls him a "Spanish viper." Enough of the slurs and stereotypes based on his heritage already! (Another example of a head-scratching stereotype: at one point the h finds that her "female brain" is too addled by H to pay attention to discussions of investments. Ugh. She deserved what happened to her IMO.)

The straw that broke the camel's back for me was when H's mom entered the story. (POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT)...................Instead of the loving, concerned women you expect, she comes across as a flighty, indifferent parent with her weak admissions at the end. Truly a letdown.

This book was just sophomoric. It's hard to believe in characters when the writer herself doesn't.

I don't plan on reading the next entry in this series.

I love Tamara Gills novels; I have read several of the regency couples.
Every time I think I have a favorite; I end up reading another novel & find out why I enjoy them better.

Willow Perry has inherited a small fortune, which gives her some freedoms, for her era. Except a husband. She has had offers, but she is looking for love. A man that will challenge, excite & fill her with desires. Funny the one that interests her is a man known as a notorious rake. He's wild, passionate & confident male. The opposite of Lady Willow who has been sheltered, follow the rules of a Lady. There love would be polar opposites if they could even survive?

I read Ms. Willow Perry's chapter thru the Set of the League of Unweddable Gentlemen. We witnessed Willow's independent persona & spunk thru her fierce loyalty when she was defending her friend Hattie-Now the Viscountess of Dummard.

Abraham Blackwood has devoted his life to the pursuit of pleasure. He’s perfectly happy running his gaming den & ignoring society expectations. And getting revenge on the upper-class Ladies, Viscount's that spread the gossip in society, that made his mother leave him when he was a young lad. To leave him with a bitter father, who never showed Abe any love.
Unfortunately, Lady Willow Perry happens to be one of the people that Lord Blackwood has his sights on destroying. Even if Willow had nothing to do with his mom's shunning from the ton. That made her leave England & exile to Spain. Abe's emotions come from him as a young lad being abandon by his mother. Which lead to his hatred, & revenge as an adult to make unsensible choices.

Though the goodness, kindness & caring that Lady Willow Perry expresses. Has Lord Blackwood,
question his revenge plans? His lonely, empty heart is filling, with love, lust, passion for a certain independent heiress. Lady Willow challenges his moral compas, & sense of what truly living is supposed to be.
Is it too late for him to change? Can Lord Blackwood be falling in love with Lady Willow. Can he stop the wheels in motion that he had planned for Lady Willow revenge plot? Will he make it up to her & admit his true feelings? What will happen when Abe realizes he has broken Lady Willow heart & has lost her trust in him?

When Willow discovers Abraham’s true intentions, can the fragile bonds they’ve begun to form survive? Or like his gambling dens will their love be shut firmly closed & stacked against their happily ever after? Will his action have Lady Willow put her in the arms of Lord Perfect, his mass rival growing up?

Dare To Be Scandalous is the third book in the League of Unweddable Gentlemen series. Prologue set in London, 1826. The story begins twelve months later, 1827, during the London Season. The saucy Epilogue set four months later was divine. This is a lusty historical romance with revenge, angst, and a heavy betrayal. The ultimate love affair. The chemistry between the Hero and Heroine’s was a highlight, imo.

At the Madame Dufour’s Refining School for Girls in France, schoolgirls, Ava, Hallie, Willow, Evie, and Molly, became friends. The girls remain best friends on their return to England. They remain in each other’s lives as they each discover love.

From France, with Love: 4- stars: Tate & Ava
Hellion at Heart: 3+ stars: Arthur & Hallie
Dare To Be Scandalous: 5- stars: Abraham & Willow

Willow Perry, niece of Viscountess Vance, inherits a small fortune at the passing of her auntie. Willow has everything she’s ever wanted. Except a husband. A grand love.

Abraham Blackwood, Marquess Ryley, has devoted himself to the pursuit of pleasure. His moniker is The Spanish Scoundrel. Abe is perfectly happy running his gaming den, making investments, keeping his mistress happy, and and ignoring the expectations of Society. Abe is a richly dark lustful Hero.

Abe and Willow’s chemistry is palpable. Their encounters are intoxicating. Whether they’re at odds with each other or drawn together, the relationship is definitely passionate.

I highly recommend this book. I recommend this series.

Abraham Blackwood, Marquess Ryley, owned a gambling den, had a mistress, investments, and was wealth. He was also tall, good looking, black hair, and sun-kissed skin. he was also a Scoundrel and a cad. He had a lot going for him but the ton thought he was no good. His mother had been run out of town when some ladies who were her friends turned against her. She fled back home to Spain. His father never forgave her.
Miss Willow Perry had taken care of her aunt for eight long years but her aunt died a year ago and gave everything to Willow that was not entailed. Abe hated the Vance family, her aunt was the last.
She had invited two of her four best friends to come to stay with her, Evie and Molly. Ava and Hallie were lucky and had gotten married. The first time she met Abe, it was at her masquerade party to celebrate coming out of mourning and her coming into society.
He wanted revenge for his mother being driven out and Willow was the last Vance. He was going to ruin her financially. The characters were amazing. The Marquess was a horrible stinker. Emotionally they both went thru a lot and things kept happening and made it worse. It will keep your attention and it is a smooth and easy read. This tale has so much going for it. I read this in one afternoon and enjoyed every word.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Willow Perry inherited a fortune when her aunt died, and wants to have to live an exciting fun filled life while she searches for a husband. She wants very much to marry for love and to have a family of her own. Abraham Blackwood, Marquess of Riley, is a consummate rake and that’s the way he likes it. Even so, his friends ask him to help keep an eye on Willow, who is having her first society party. He agrees for one reason. He holds a grudge against her family for a slight he believes drove his mother from England, and see this as a chance to get revenge. Will he get what he wants? Just how far is he willing to go to ruin Willow, who had no part in what happened to his mother? How willing will she be to forgive his foolish mistakes?

Willow is a wonderful person. She is happy, caring, and devoted to those she loves. Abe is an ass. He is arrogant and doesn’t seem to care about anybody but himself, and revenge. These two are total opposites. There is no way these two can fall in love. But the attraction between them is strong and the chemistry sizzles. There’s a happily ever after in there somewhere, but it will not come easy. This is an engaging story with a lovely outcome. There is drama, romance, and some fun. I loved Willow and Evie’s adventurous visit to Hell’s Gate, Abe’s gambling hell. This is a good story. I enjoyed it and recommend it.

When her aunt dies, Willow inherits a fortune. When she comes out of mourning, she is ready to begin her life anew and look for that grand love that she has always dreamed up of. So why is it that she falls for the last man that she can find love with?

Abe has devoted his life to finding pleasure but also the revenge for those that chased his mother away from a life in the ton. When he learns that the niece of the woman who ruined his mother is friends with his best friend's spouses, he takes advantage of the connection. Even though his friends will be upset with him, he goes forward with his plans. He didn't count on finding Willow so enchanting. She isn't at all what he expected. Can he let go of his plot for revenge and find his HEA?

I really enjoyed Willow and Abe's story. Abe was after revenge for his mother, but after meeting and spending time with Willow it made it harder for him to follow through with his plans. It was entertaining to watch him go back and forth with his decision to follow through with ruining her or not as well as Willow's struggle to decide to pursue a man that might break her heart. This was a great addition to the Dar to be Scandalous series.

Revenge is sweet...but love is sweeter!!! Tamara Gill has another hit on her hands.

Willow's beloved Aunt has passed and left her entire fortune to her. She helps two of her friends during the season and knows she will marry soon. Before that happens she hopes to have a whole lot of fun. Enters the scandalous Marquess Ryley, Abraham Blackwood (Spanish Scoundrel). He is asked by his friends (Willow's BFF's husbands) to keep an eye on her from "gold diggers"...He keeps an eye on her for sure! He also wants to ruin her because of what her late Aunt and some friends did to his mother...he blames those women of the Ton for running his mother out of England. He starts the process and throws in a little "FUN" and just when he has her where he wants....He falls in love and now must pay the consequences. His beloved is about to marry another man. He must fight tooth and nail to win back her trust and love!!!

This is a very spicy love story!!! Love that Willow is an independent woman who wants some spicy fun before she marries!!!

2.5 stars. This is a downward trend. Oh well. Willow has just inherited a fortune. Abraham is a Marquess who owns a gambling hall where lords and their mistresses can meet up for the night. He, himself, has a live in mistress. Nothing like being in his head while reading about him having a bj in chapter 2 to really endear you to the man. And I was disappointed in that same chapter to read the duke’s amusement with the mistress and her playfulness. Just no. The whole time I just felt a sense of ickiness with Lord Riley. His father died from syphilis...and nobody thought to tell him??? His father died shortly after and she left him there?? Geez. No wonder he was jaded. But then for Abe to turn around and say monogamy with her was the only viable option for him? I’m sorry, but I have to give them a hfn not a hea. He just isn’t very trustworthy and his personal boundaries are suspect.

Also, if virginity is such a huge deal, why does she thank him for sleeping with her so she will have that experience before she marries? This novel made very little sense.

This was an excellent revenge to love story. I couldn't help but love Abe from the beginning even though he is a male slut. He had a sad growing up and blames Willow's aunt for his mother abandoning him. He also assumes that Willow is a women of privilege not knowing that she was mainly a servant to her aunt. She makes it known that she is looking for love, marriage and a family but can't help how she feels when she is around Abe so she decides to be daring and test the waters of forbidden desire. She knows that Abe is all wrong for her but she can't help falling in love with him. Abe is out to avenge the wrong doing he thinks was done to his mother but along the way has a change of heart but his misdeeds have already been set in motion to late as he realizes that the only women he wants is Willow. I loved this story and the HEA.

I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of it

Let go of the past

Willow waited on her Aunt hand and foot until her death her faithfulness was rewarded when she left her over 100,000 pounds! Abe is a male whore who has a live in mistress but is not above giving a willing woman a tumble if she desires it! Willow knows of Abe's debauched reputation but is drawn to him anyway! When Lord Perfect comes calling she knows she wants a faithful husband and family and Abe is never going to be that! But Abe is drawn to her and fights his budding feelings for her and shame at the hands of Willows aunt and Lord Perfect mother! But he's left it too late and his plan to break Willow emotionally and financially has been implemented! When the truth comes out Willow despises Abe and herself for falling for this Spanish Scoundrel! Willow is engaged to Lord Perfect and Abe's mother has imparted some hard truths of the past! This was ok, but I couldn't really get into it. The problem was that the "hero" Abe is set upon destroying Willow, and it's just not possible to like him. He's deliberately setting out to bring her down in order to settle a score over something she wasn't even involved in. In the end, it was all forgiven a little too easily.

It was difficult to see any relationship building between Abe and Willow. It seemed to mostly be about lust and not much else.

The language used in the sex scenes is fairly crude (not the typical language used in historical romances), yet the scenes themselves are not particularly steamy.

As for Lord Herbert, I was never sure what I was supposed to feel about him. Was he a horrible person or some poor man that she couldn't love? I'm assuming the second, but the way he was written made him seem like he was going to be a villain.

It wasn't a bad book, but it just didn't blow me away.

Scoundrels make the best husbands

Absolutely loved the book. My favorite by far. Loved Willows and Abe’s story. Willows only family her aunt dies and finally does right by her and leaves her all her money 100,000 and several properties.
Abe is the Spanish Scoundrel who owns a Hell Den but also is a Marquee. His mother was Spanish and his father was on his grand tour when he fell in love with her a brought her home. When Abe was a little boy his mother fled back to Spain after she was banished by his father for a supposed scandal and extra marital affair. All the years he blamed Lady Vance (Willows Aunt) and Lady Herbert for the scandal.
Abe wants revenge but since Lady Vance has passed he will take his revenge out on Willow. He will ruin her financially. What he didn’t expect was how kind and loving Willow was and that she did not live a charmed life with her aunt.
A beautifully written story with a wonderful ending. I could not put the book down!!!
