Let's go pay God a visit...So I can make thread again. That's...something, I guess. Don't get me wrong-I could be doing a whole lot worse than pumping out thread all day while cooped up in some demon's mansion. I just wish my other powers would come back alrea-Oh...they are back. When the heck did that happen?! And why am I suddenly, like, really good at teleporting? I bet I could go anywhere I want! In fact, that gives me an idea...Hey, D, I think it's time we met face-to-face!
This Volume has us following the ogre that’s been on a rampage since the last Volume, as well as our usual Demon Lord party. They’ve finally made it to the demon territory, much to the surprise of Sophia and White. Why surprise? Well, it seems the demon territory isn’t that different from the human ones.
White and Sophia were expecting things to look like they do in the media back on Earth, but if anything, it’s just as lovely, if not more so than where they’ve stayed in the human countries. Of course that would come as a surprise. Not only that, but it seems that not everyone in the demon territory is onboard with the Demon Lord’s plan to go to war with the humans. That leads to some drama and behind the scenes maneuverings that you wouldn’t expect. I was under the impression that the return of the Demon Lord would be met with fanfare and acceptance, not the veiled hostility and apprehension we get.
On top of that, the orge who’s been wreaking havoc doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. If anything, he’s been growing stronger the more he’s been raging. That leads to another confrontation between him, White and Sophia. And man is it an explosive one!
We see White start to learn more about her powers and how to control them now that she’s a god. that’s fun, as is seeing how much stronger Sophia’s becoming. Granted, we do have the benefit of knowing how OP they are in the future but the journey there is entertaining. I always enjoy seeing how strong people get their overwhelming strength. It’s why White’s journey has been such a blast to be on!
we learn more about the orge, and why he is the way he is. We get to see it from his perspective, which makes his backstory that much harder to swallow. Seriously, the guy can’t catch a break!
We also get to meet D, the “evil god” that’s basically behind everything that’s going on. And I do mean actually meet. We’ve “heard” her voice through the smartphone that appears every now and then, but White actually makes the journey to meet D in person, and man oh man are the revelations from that meeting crazy. I won’t say any more than that so as not to spoil anything, but things sure have gotten complicated.
All in all, this was a great Volume, that sets up things moving forward, and even though we know where they ultimately lead, there’s no disputing the fact that the journey to the destination will be a crazy one to say the least.
The volume starts out slow but really comes into it's own and as such 3 stars seemed a little low. The Sword King v. Wrath chapter in particular is fantastic. From drunken antics, to elven scheming and a shocking revelation to boot, this is as good as any of the previous volumes, definitely worth a read if you've made it this far.
Second read: Yay I'm finally reading the physicals! I initially bought the majority of the eBooks but decided I wanted the paperbacks, so am collecting and re-reading them. Unfortunately the first half of the series is severely out of stock and has been for a while, so I'm sad.
I think after reading 9 volumes I can confidently say that Okina Baba has written the multi-character perspective better than Andrej Sapkowski with his Witcher series. The perspectives are relevant to the story, flesh out the narrative compellingly, and a real treat to get from certain key characters at times. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this series. The last few volumes have been compelling me forward asking What’s next??
Masterful continuation and patiently waiting for more.
Just when you don't think things can get any crazier, they do! Literally can't talk about any of it without massive spoilers, but if you enjoyed any of the previous books, you'll enjoy the excitement and intrigue getting taken to 11!
And now we're back to our MC being strong (sort of) again. And the antics continue. And the cast of characters on the Demon Lord's side grows. And we get absolutely bonkers revelations. You know, I have to say that Okina Baba is masterful in doing character motivations. Even crazy things make sense when he writes them.
Like all of the series so far, it was super entertaining.
Strong character development in this one, especially for our main character. There isn't as much action but what there is plays into the characters' development especially in the case of Ms. Sophia.
I don't know why I can finish these books in like a day, but I struggle to read other books at the moment. Maybe it's because they're pretty short? Roughly under 300 pages. But I have read 4 of them within the span of 4 days so......
The story was better than I thought it would be. I've been waiting for White to get stronger again and I am glad she finally is heading that way. Looking forward to the next book.
Kyouya probably has the saddest backstory right now. Man, fuck Buirimeos or whatever the fuck his name is. He should have been killed by White long ago or Kyouya should've tortured him at the very least

White is finally able to access her powers which was starting to be frustrating. She meets with D and discovers some things about herself. Overall an interesting addition to the story and I look forward to seeing how the story continues to progress from here.

This vol gives a lot of answers, this might be the most important vol in the series. Can't say more without talking about spoilers, but at this point why even look at reviews?
I can't stop screaming, oh my gooood, I absolutely LOVED this volume! I DIDN'T see that coming! Definitely this series goes.to my top.10 favorite reads! I'm loving Shopia hahaha, poor baby. I woow. Author! You are absolutely amazing!
A genuine pearl of the Genre! Great fun to read! Plot complexity: 5* Suspense & Plot twists: 5* Consistency: 4* Humor: 4* Character depth: 4* Literary aesthetics: 2* Literary depth: 1*
That was hinted at by a couple of things. I have to wonder how much of the world building was planned from the beginning and how much is made up on the fly.
Y'know the 8th volume left much to be desired, but luckily for me and you there is this one! This advances what was set down in the last volume and I cannot wait to read volume 10.
Administrator D really sucks, never liked her. Though we did get an explanation, still not a big fan. Pulling the Wakaba card on the readers feels like everything has been a lie
