I might put more stars for the rating later as I think about this book more, but I put three stars for now.
Reading this book was like eating five different shaped cookies between meals. I mean it's pretty light and happy.
This book includes five short stories about different relationships: grandfather-granddaughter, old teacher-a student, two high school boys, a young boy-a woman and a nursery school teacher-a little boy.
Reflectiong on these stories made me think that relationships are maintained by three actors. Two people and something that the two people share with each other. It can be food, a memory, an animal, a third person, experiences, etc.
Human relationships are interesting. Each human being changes every day, every moment. If there are two people, then the change gets more intricate. And if there are three actors, then it gets more difficult to see the flow clearly.
The relationships were always interrupted in the stories when one of them go away: one of the two people or the catalysis of the relationship. But the relationships between the two which remained there developed in different directions after the interruption.
Thinking about relationships makes me realize that everything and everyone is organic and fluid.
This is a good book to remember that human relationships can be warm and creative especially if you are currently tired of negative human relationships around you.
Current negative relationships could still be better once they are interrupted by releasing something. It can be the other person in the relationship or the thing you share with the person.
