The community remains closed-lipped. Detective Kelly turns to Ettie Smith to ask questions within her secretive community. When an arrest is made, Ettie is convinced the person is innocent, but will the detective believe it? Kelly finally concedes, but with Paula hovering between life and death the pressure is on the detective to find the perpetrator.
Can Ettie untangle the web of Paula's complicated life, and solve the crime before another innocent person is attacked, and possibly .... killed?

another Ettie smith Amish mysteries. The two sisters are trying to figure out why someone injured and almost killed a woman. whose framing who? it amazes me that these sisters are private investigators and yet, have to get a taxi for every where they go. Kind of funny.
I felt sorry for girl who was beaten so badly. She wasn't coming out of it. And was very possible she would die. Then the mans wife crying and upset and looking like she had been framed. Error felt bad for her and then the woman was going to kill Ettie. It worked out good and Paula was fine and was going to stay with the Laps till she was all better. I also have impression that Paula and her family were going to reconcile and would not think of Amish as a cult now. Really love detectives and sisters having tea and cake, afterwards😊💖🎂
I have been hooked on Samantha Price's Amish Mysteries "Ettie Smith" series. The characters are remarkably interesting, colorful, and funny. There is a new Sheriff in town, yet their friend is still helping with each mystery. Must read!
But who did it? So many possible motives and suspects. Ettie and Detective Kelly butt heads as usual. But why did they keep referring to an assault as murder when nobody died? Anyway another fun Amish Mystery done and moving on.
Mysteries like this keep you guessing. It really holds your interest and makes you realize how much it is like a puzzle to solve. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.

Just read please.
I always enjoy reading this series! The plot always moves along at a brisk pace and the mystery is not easy to solve. Sometimes a series will get stale after several installs but that's not the case with this one. I certainly plan on reading the next book in this series.
I have always enjoyed Samantha Price mystery. I like the two elderly woman who help solve the murderers along with the police. This story had me a little baffle but I did kind of figured out who it could have done it. Characters are great a very clean story.

I enjoyed this book and storyline and characters, but it seemed to go at a slower pace and I had to read sections over in order to follow the storyline.
