I was supposed to be alone in these woods— my woods. Then I laid my eyes on her, and I was weak in the knees. She needed my help. I was hooked after one look at those soft curves and long hair. The marine in me stood to attention and would keep her safe. After one taste, she was mine. I claimed her to do what I please.
Warning: This book is over the top insta-love that is hot and dirty with a Happily Ever After. If you like it short and sweet then stick around.
Yeah i was glad this one was abit longer then the first book!! So score for that..
Pam needs a vacation so her bff Landon lets her use his uncles Cabin in the woods to get some writing done. First night is abit horrible the cabin is cold, her car is in a mud slide and Pam is overwhelmed but she is saved by Lucas who offers her some heat and a way to unstick her car.. and things heat up in his cabin ;) dirty and filthy sex between the two.. but idk it felt wired Lucas wasn't a true Alpha in wanting his girl.. he treated it like whatever happens happens... it felt like the two were just mountain booty buddies.. also.. near the end.. he kept to himself about his dead wife.. that's why he moved to the woods.. :/
Also he felt guilty for not protecting his dead wife thats one of the reasons he was protecting pam.. he was annoying me..
Why a low star.. idk i just felt like they didn't really connect.. and i didn't feel the Insta love honestly if this was insta he wouldn't have let her go back to the cabin alone..

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read that you can read in one sitting whether it is at work on lunch or waiting for an appointment. It was insta-love mixed with steamy bits and drama and ended with a nice HEA.

One mud slide later and you end up with a Mountain Man
Pam is 21 year old and divorced for a few months. She is a writer, although never written a book so far, but has lost her inspiration. So she heads to her best friends, uncle's mountain cabin in Montana for a week to have some solitude. When she finally arrives it is pouring rain so by the morning there has been a smaller mud slide that has taken her car and put it down an embankment. Let's just say this lady is not having a good time so far. When she yells and cries on the porch Lucas, who lives in a cabin just a ways away, hears her and comes to investigate. Lucas is an ex-Marine who came to the mountain several years ago to get away from everyone, and from something tragic in his past.
Lucas and Pam are sparking some major fireworks and it does not take long for them to be tearing each others clothes off. They have a week together in which there are a number of horizontal mambo sessions but also talking and finally having the "discussion". Also throw in her crazy stalker ex-husband and you get a protective Alpha who realizes that he does not want to let this lady go but at the same time he knows he cannot go back to living in the city. These two have to make some decisions and changes if they want to have their own HEA.
Her Mountain Man is the second book in the Highway 69 series by Peyton Cross. It was pretty well written and a fun short story. My main issue was that the story-line could have been stronger and more coherent. There were some things that happened which I thought did not make a lot of sense and maybe should have been left out or dealt with in a different way.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This book is a over the top insta-love story. It is very fast paced and steamy with a happy ever after ending. If you are looking for something to read on your lunch break or just before bed, this is it.
