Hart's Bay #2

Changed Hart

Rate this book

Nothing worth having comes easy.

Rainier Hart knows all about hiding. He’s ready to burst out of the closet, consequences be damned. His first escape attempt failed, but he’s not done fighting. Back in his hometown, all he has are a few worthless buildings and a job on a construction crew. What he needs is a firm hand to guide him—and a family that doesn’t look down their noses at him.

Colt Fuller is everything Rain isn’t… or is he? Rich, muscular, commanding, and very much out of place in Hart’s Bay, he wants more than Rain's run-down warehouses. He wants the surprisingly defiant little twink who owns them, too. The pull between them is too strong to ignore, even with everything that’s on the line.

Rain and Colt are perfectly matched: right down to the secrets they'd each prefer to keep buried. Those secrets threaten the very foundations they begin to build a life together on.

Because nothing stays secret in Hart’s Bay, including how they really feel about each other. Can they see past the bluster and into each other’s hearts?

Changed Hart is the second book in the new Hart’s Bay series about a small town full of nosy but well-meaning neighbors and brotherly banter. It’s a standalone novel with a happily-ever-after ending, and plenty of smiles and steam along the way. Plus, because it's Rain, more sass than anyone expected. The third Hart’s Bay novel will be released in October 2019.

This is classic Ed Davies, it has an almost perfect mixture of sweet and spicy.

I've not gone for full marks in my rating only because, for me anyways, I found I was wishing Colt was just a little bit older so that I could fully embrace the whole sexual domination aspect.

That's not to say that there is a need for an age limit to know what you want in the bedroom, or on the sofa 😉 and they definitely had loads of chemistry.

But Colt's vulnerability in the rest of his life and his leftover anxieties and fears because of his history gave me pause when it came to this one element.

Ed certainly never made the narrative feel uncomfortable or silly, Rain and Colt just worked as a partnership as friends right from the off and I ultimately got with the programme as their relationship developed. YMMV.

The rest of the story was right up my alley though. I really like this new setting and the small town vibes and closeknit friendships.

I liked how Rain found his own inner strength to know he wanted to take a chance with Cole and I loved how the latter dealt with the big dramatic moment and found his own way of overcoming his vulnerabilities.

The split in two family arc is also fascinating for me and I can't wait to see how that develops.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I love this series. Of course, it can be read as a standalone but then you would miss out. This is my new vacation destination. So now I know who I will be spending it with and can't wait. Colt and Rain are a wonderful couple. Funny, snarky, but willing to be open minded. Colt came to Hart's Bay for the commercial real estate. With everything he had, all the hard work he did to save the money, he put it all on the line. Rain, who is a life long resident, now owns the property Colt is interested in. These two could not be more suited for each other. This is a MAGNIFICENT story. I loved the faith that these characters had in each other. I'm happy to have the bonus read Justin. I can't wait for Book #3 Wild Hart. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS AMAZING SERIES!!!!!

Let's start this out by saying that I'm a grumpy grump. Non of the books I've read recently have worked out for me and I'm pretty sure that it's me.

Anyway, this is the second book in the Hart's Bay series and we didn't get the best start with Rain in the first book. This was his redemption story for sure, however that was all it was. There wasn't much plot and everything felt a little subdued. Everything felt very dramatic in the characters heads but when things played out it almost felt anti climatic.

I'm a huge fan of E. Davies and his work though and I usually adore his work so don't listen to me. Read this series.

I really enjoyed this story.I didn’t love it as much as the first book, but it’s still an entertaining read. E. Davies is one of those authors I can depend on to make me really care about the characters and what happens to them. I already own all the books in this series and look forward to my next visit to Hart’s Bay.

Changed Hart was my first book of this series, I didn't read the first one.
I needed to adjust with the author's writing style first. Though this is everyone's favorite, Changed Hart's not mine.
I had a hard time finishing this book, skimming a lot, and got bored easily.
Guess it's me not you, book.
Overall, it was just an okay for me, I wasn't really excited to write a review, but this is an ARC, so...

If you thought book 1 was great well this one just blew book 1 out of the water. When we met Rain in book 1 we weren't sure what to think of him...was he a villain or not. Well to find out is past, his present and all his secrets shows us that the Hart family isn't all made of villains and that family secrets have a way of coming out.

I can't wait to read more for this little town and I love how with each book it grows just a little more with each new couple

Loved loved loved. Both of the characters were just so endearing and you were rooting for them the whole time. It was also nice to see a couple fight over real things, but also come together when they needed to. A thing I like about this author is they don’t drag fights out for chapters. The characters seem real in wanting to communicate and solve the issues they’re faced with.

The background drama of the family is so crazy because I could totally see it happening. When people pick sides sometimes they forgot what they’re even fighting for and it’s wild that the newer generations just follow blindly because it’s all they know. These stories are obviously romances but they also show how to break the mold of old traditional prejudices and be yourself.

I loved Rain in the last book and seeing him here in his own book was fantastic. He really grew into himself and he inspired not only himself but colt. Colt was so sexy and I loved how he arrived to make not only himself better but everyone else and the town better too. They had amazing chemistry and were so hot like yes. Looking forward to the next book.

Liked this one more than book one, we had more depth with the two main characters.

I just think their build up to the romantic relationship was a little weird… it would feel natural at times then at others felt forced… idk but for me it didn’t take away much from the enjoyment of the book.

I think one did a better job bringing the town dynamics and Hart Family drama to life. I wished we had more with Rain’s ex… idk we were told about his abuse but I didn’t feel the pain I would have if I had a flashback or something. Same goes for Colts upbringing.

Overall I would recommend this one over the first book, this could have been read as a standalone but you do get more out of reading it in order.

Anything by Greg Boudreaux is going to be worth listening to, but this was really enjoyable.

First off, both MC's were young and impacted by family opinions and ego. I found them both to be fun and playful throughout the story, but both with issues that came out as the book progressed. It was interesting to keep learning new things about them as we went.

Though the chemistry was there from when their eyes met, they absolutely didn't rush into anything, leaving a slower burn, which was nice.

Overall, I enjoyed the listen and would recommend.

Sweet and hot

This was a sweet story with some bittersweet moments and some very hot times.

I quite enjoyed it. Colt and Rain were great, I liked them together and separately. They went very well together.

Nice story overall

Two and a half. Not bad per se, but somehow the whole time I wanted for it to be over. And the main antagonist seriously needs a motive beyong being homophobic and ill-tempered.

Not the pairing I thought but oh, so good!!!

From the end of the last Hart’s Bay Novel, I thought Rain would be with his friend and co-worker but Ed surprised us with a new pairing ready to shake up Rain’s life and the Hart’s Bay they know.

I really liked the nuances between Colt and Rain and I really did feel they were perfect for each other. They could give and take, push and pull and be what each other needed. Of course, there’s the despicable meddling and nastiness from Grandpa Hart but thankfully Rain is able to break free from his awful parents and grandfather and make a new family with the resident gays and his cousin. It takes a lot and is a trying process for Rain to understand and accept these guys as his new, true, family but his journey and process to get there is beautifully written and so heartwarming you’ll fall in love with this collection of colorful characters too. I look forward to many more stories from Hart’s Bay as this group of beautiful souls find their happily ever afters too.

I loved it and can’t wait for more!!!

I’ve been jumping around with LGBT fiction and authors. I was not familiar with E. Davies but Audible recommended them to me. I decided to download two collections by them and finished them between November and December. I would recommend them as an offer.
Hart’s Bay was a great collection of four novels that revolve around a group of young adults who buy a house in a rundown town. They each plan on running an art collective down town but end up branching off and partnering up with people in the town. They open new businesses and bring the community back together.
E. Davies does a good job at character development and relationship development with each story. They are each unique and do not get repetitive like some collections. Each character has their own flaw and they eventually overcome their issues.
I wish this series was longer as there were more characters that could’ve been developed.

Audiobook, part of the Hart's Bay bundle I got a deal on. This one's a DNF for now as of chapter 2. Too much Nope/OM action on page and talked about, not a setup for romance for me.

Starts with hero Rain hooking up with a rando from Grindr. He calls the hookup off, but not before there's a bit of physical action and neck marking. And then, chapter 2, the other hero Colt, a property developer, meets Rain at the local bar, asks if he knows who can get him a tour of the rundown warehouses by the shore (not realizing Rain is the owner) and when Rain takes him to see them, Colt goes on and on and ON about oh, how funny it is that he was just here last month for the art gallery grand opening, and he snuck into this very warehouse with some rando to hookup! Don't worry, they cleaned up afterward!

It was...not cute, and I had to stop there. I mean...he kept going ON about it WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE.

No thank you. I'm on to book 3, and that's going a LOT better!

I read the kindle version of this in September, so when the ARC for the Audible came my way, I am not ashamed to say weakness grabbed hold and I snatched it.

I love this series and the truth behind the fiction that speaks volumes, that even though change may be scary, it can happen in big ways if done in small doses over time. But, someone has to make that first step.

This was my first book with narrator, Greg Boudreaux, and children lemme just tell you, I will be doing some research for more of what he is serving. I have found a new narrator and mmman oh man does he bring a nice dinner to an already beautifully set table. **momma likey...😁

This is a wonderful story about Rain and Colt. It's a story about trust and acceptance. First I love that Rain is named after Mt. Rainier. Mt. Rainier stands strong and when it isn't covered with clouds, it's absolutely stunning. When Colt came to Hart's Bay to buy and develop some run-down warehouses he got so much more. Rain just so happened to own those warehouses. I love the journey they take as they find love with each other and acceptance with who they are inside themselves to be able to share that with others. Trust is a two way street and family is so much more than blood. E. Daives is a beautiful writer and I look forward to more. This story is one to listen to over and over again and I highly recommend it.
Narrator Greg Boudreaux does a fabulous job and I just love his voice.

Rain is still closeted, but is now the proud property owner of some torn down warehouses from his terrible grandfather.

Colt has money to invest in developing some property, but is new to the process, trying to hide his inexperience.

As they work together, their attraction blooms, and they fit together, professionally and romantically. But, their secrets come to light and they have to decide whether or not to trust each other.

Not a bad book, I wouldn’t have read it through but was more than halfway when I thought that. The sex scenes are too rough, the story is just OK. I prefer other series by this author.

Small town on the Oregon Coast, full of stories and we get to read about a few of the citizens....some gay and others, well, thinking about it. There are some villains to hiss at. But do not take it lightly, this is a very good read with a lot of color and the smell of the sea. Atmosphere is everything if you are going to light up a love affair.....and there are continuing characters, a neat gay bar with a story and.....OH GO READ IT.

Another great add to the series. Rain and Colt are AMAZING! I was intrigued by Rain when we first met him in book 1 and was dying to know more about not only his story but his side of the family. Greg Boudreaux does it again with fantastic voices that bring these two to life. The chemistry is hot, sweet and great moments can't wait for the next.

Excellent addition to the series. This gave us Rain's story so a different take on the Harts Bay family split. But as we saw in the first book Rain was already coming around to the 'other' Harts POV. Believable conflict and dealt with adultly without any drawn out and unnecessary split.

Great narrator.

It was difficult to gauge where the relationship would go early in the novel because both characters were holding back so much, denying the attraction and themselves. So it was a slow burn rather than the full blooming passion experienced in the first book in the series. Overall, a cute romance for two men who finally decided to be true to themselves and embrace happiness.

I loved this book! The story has all the feels and characters you want to know better. The narrator is new to me. I enjoyed his performance and will look for others of his in the future. I have read or listened to other books by this author and enjoyed them all. If you like being able to say you've read all of an author's books, add this author to your list!

I’m not sure this series is working for me. I found it very hard to connect with the Mc’s.
In this story, it’s almost like nothing actually happens in between. The beginning and ending are worth the while, but everything was not good.

With this second book in the series/collection, the bad guys are clearly identified. While the first book intimates a budding relationship for Rain, a newbie property developer Colt fills the pages with snarky dialog and flaming heat. Nice feel-good ending.

I liked the dynamic between the two main characters, and how they both have their issues, but still manage to overcome petty bullshit and communicate with each other.

Greg is just one of my absolute favourite narrators, and he does stellar work!
