Patrick Lindsay wasn’t looking for anything when he met Shawn Waters. Flirty and forward, the younger man didn’t seem opposed to an open relationship. They could see other people, the exact level of commitment Patrick wanted. Shawn was looking for a good time when he stumbled into the arms of two people who seemed destined to be together, but for an unknown reason, weren’t. Will Steele and Dean Baldwin had danced around each other for years, their feeling gradually growing with time. When they included Shawn in their bed for one steamy night, it changed everything forever. Almost missing out on a chance to have something serious with Will forces Dean to admit his feelings, but Will has grown attached to Shawn and doesn’t want to give him up. Rather than walk away with nothing, Dean agrees that Will can have them both. When the three of them first discuss this crazy plan, they realize they should talk with someone who has been down the same road. Shawn thinks his boyfriend Patrick is just the person. But Patrick isn’t sure what he can offer the trio. His marriage ended when his husband ran off with their boyfriend and he doesn’t feel qualified to lead them down that path.
EM Denning has more than twenty romance novels under her belt and has become an author you can rely on to bring you emotionally endearing, soft and fuzzy, stories. She is well known among her friends for her love of naps and sarcasm. She spends her free time reading as many romance novels as she can get her hands on.
So good to see Dean and Will finally admit what they each mean to the other! I want to wrap Patrick up in a hug and tell him how worthy he is of all the love the other three have for him -- he breaks my heart in all the best ways. And Shawn is exactly what all four of them need to hold them together -- the best sticky substance in the world!
This is not only my favorite book in the Upstate Education series but my favorite E.M. Denning book. I love threesomes, I never get tired of watching three people figure out how to navigate a relationship together. I have less experience with foursomes, but I was excited because it's an Emo book, it has to be amazing no matter how many dicks in the bed there are.
One of the main selling points for me when it came to All Or Nothing, was the fact that we were finally getting Will and Dean's book. I've wanted their book since Half As Much. I loved them from the beginning and I hoped they would eventually get their shit together. What I didn't count on what Shawn and Patrick. Not gonna lie, Shawn seemed a bit too excitable for me in Never Enough. And then I read this book and now I absolutely adore him.
Relationships are work, even if you have only two people. With four that leaves room for error times four. One of the biggest things in a relationship is communication. What Will and Dean were doing before they met Shawn and Patrick was not communicating. My heart was breaking for them at first. Because more than anything I wanted them to work out and they couldn't figure themselves out. It hurt to see them hurt.
Patrick has his own insecurities after his husband and their boyfriend leave him to be together. It left him afraid of being left behind again, which made the whole communication thing tricky and I wanted to scream. I did scream a bit. Because the four of them were perfect. They worked well together, they just needed to talk, which Patrick didn't do and AHHHH!
Shawn kind of ends up being their glue, but there's so much more to them by the end of the book. They all eventually figure themselves out and become what they were meant to be. Is it complicated as fuck? Yes, but that's a relationship for you.
I am fascinated by relationships. Because there is more than just one way to have a relationship. One person's vision of what an ideal relationship is will vary greatly from another's. I could go on and on all day about relationships and their uniqueness, but I won't. What I will say is that the entire Upstate Education series, not just this book, shows just how various a relationship can be. From Rider and Eli and their emotionally endearing gang bangs in Half As Much, to the Daddy, Boy, and Brat dynamic, Thurston, Eugene, and Joe have in More Than Anything, to Vince and Tommy's sweet and loving Daddy/Boy dynamic in Never Enough. All Or Nothing and it's very complex foursome with Shawn, Will, Dean, and Patrick, only goes to show how each relationship is different.
These four books show just pieces of the broad spectrum of relationship dynamics. With All Or Nothing being the most complex of them all, but at the same time, it's not really. These four made their relationship work for them and it's hopeful to see that while they shouldn't work, with the various personalities, careers, lives these characters have, they somehow make it all work. Because they all need each other in their own way. They all have different relationships with each other, no two pairings are the same, but that's what not only makes it interesting but makes it work.
This type of book isn't easy to pull off, but E.M. Denning does it brilliantly. It was believable, I felt like these four could have a functioning, healthy relationship. It could have been confusing, trying to navigate the intricacies of the different pairings, but it wasn't. The writing made it seem almost flawless, even with the hiccups the characters had while they were finding their way.
All Or Nothing gave me everything I wanted and then some. It was the perfect way to round this series out with and I'm going to have to come back to Upstate because I am not done with these boys yet. I used to say I only had a handful of books I could re-read and still enjoy like it was the first time. That list is growing with every single book E.M. Denning puts out. I cannot wait to see what comes next from her talented hands.
Wow...I don't know how she does it, but yet again EM Denning wrote another amazing and HOT AF story. I read this book in one sitting. I love how Ms. Denning takes us on a journey of growth, determination, friendship, and love. Not only do the couples try to figure out their own relationship, but also the relationship evolving between all four of them. Shawn, Patrick, Will and Dean face many challenges and insecurities but they are determined to make it work. And the chemistry between all four is super hot (fanning myself). Ms Dennings does an awesome job of bringing each character, their insecurities, and the relationship between all characters to life. I highly recommend it.

Ok this was absolutely amazing....We have four guys..Patrick and Shawn...and Will and Dean..It takes a while for Dean to realise he's meant for Will but with Shawns help and then Patrick they soon click....I have to say I loved Patrick (I love my older men)......They were really hot together all of them....The way their relationships grew together and separately as couples was done brilliantly..A great end to a great series x
I love how the author did this. Not your usual way todo this type of relationship and it was perfect for the characters. I love this series so much and yet I’m afraid that there will be no more. I don’t want to leave this world.
I liked it was only a little bit confusing but mostly not and it was good I think Patrick needed a little more screen time but yeah pretty good balance of each character and their relationship with each other
Complicated but at the same time simple... two couples , all attracted to each other... all with some varying degree of issues. I loved it. The dynamic between each pairing was so different, and when all four were together, sizzling hot...
DNF at 30%. In short: too much sex, not enough plot or characterization. We have several guys that either have sex with each other or discuss their evolving relationship, and little else. There's no chance to get to know them as real, complicated persons outside their relationship (yes, we should have had this chance by 30%). We are told what their personality traits are instead of shown and there's an exaggerated focus on their looks, as in "I'd like to be your boyfriend because you're so hot". Ironically, this imbalance between sex scenes, plot and character description also damages the effectiveness of the sex scenes as they seem more like written porn scenes featuring strangers and not truly erotic; the dirty talk comes across as cheesy and artificial rather than hot. It's interesting to compare this book with Macy Blake's "All or Nothing", which also features a poly relationship and also has tons of sex scenes. While both books are not high romance (and they don't pretend to be), the big difference is that there (minor spoilers) It is odd how those experienced, confident men who have no qualms about working in the porn industry or participating in sex parties are so timid about talking with each other about their feelings, which should be way easier.
Well...... This book was so much more than I was expecting. I've never read an MMMM story before and E.M. truly gives each character their own time to shine as well as allowing the natural progression of all of the relationships that were developing among the four men. There are some quite different personalities involved which can only be expected with four men giving themselves to three others in such an out of the norm way. I would say the man that brings everyone together is Shawn. He's clearly in need of love and affection but also wants to stand strong. He meets Patrick through his best friend and is instantly attracted. Patrick struggles to want more after being burned by a previous MMM relationship. Shawn then meets Will and Dean at a party and the three men hit it off straight away, a clear spark between the three but there is already a "thing" between Will and Dean that Shawn doesn't want to break up. By wanting more, those three men go to Patrick who is an obvious choice for advice after his experience with a poly relationship. There's a lot to keep track of as each man feels different things to each other man and about the situation itself but everything works perfectly in the way it's written, flowing naturally and giving enough to keep my emotions engaged with the characters and the outcome of their story. I cannot recommend this book and series enough. For those new to a multiple partner story, this is quite an easy read with a gentle introduction to the idea and act of the men coming together. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
This is another fantastic book in the Upstate Education series. Shawn, Patrick, Will, and Dean are each such good men, who deserve all the love in the world. They find that love together. I appreciate that the couples-and-more in this series find love that isn't a cookie-cutter version of happiness. They stretch their wings and reach for things that some would consider taboo. They are beautiful in their desire. These four men find their soulmates in a lovely poly romance. This author is gifted with the ability to write characters who completely steal my heart. During different parts of this story, each man took over and ripped me to shreds. Each had moments of doubting himself and his ability to hold on to the others. Each wonderful man had times when he was unable to see himself the way the others saw him. Every time, it was up to his lovers to show him how important he was. I am not ashamed to say that I teared up more than once. While the book is full sex and lust, it is also full of devotion, friendship, family, and love. These stories are not for everyone, but for someone who is open-minded and believes that a fairytale-type ending can be more than just two lovers together forever in happy monogamy (not that there's anything wrong with that!), this is a wonderful book in a fabulous series. Highly recommended!
I love this series and i love reading mm+ books (in this case mmmm). And I loved reading this book, but something was missing. I couldn't feel the characters, i just read their story and i hate when i don't feel connection at least to one character.
The stroy was good, i liked the two pairing - Patrick and Shawn , Will and Dean. And I liked it when they realized what they wanted. But Shawn was the best. He was THE best in this book, i loved him the most and I think the whole book and all the characters played around him.
The erotic scenes were really good, but i missed more mm+ scenes. The storytelling was good, everyone got their chapter and their own little bubble of happiness with one of the other character.
After all, i liked this book, but i think my favorite in the series is still the first one. I loved all 4 books and all the couples with their love story and with all the sexy scenes. I'm gonna miss this gang (bang LOL).
Thank you for the chance for reading an ARC copy of this book and for all the others too! I mean I got all 4 books in ARC, how cool?!
If you new this, then drop everything and start this series! You won't regret it, I promise!
To my ratings: A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year), it's like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
Patrick just wanted to have a good time with Shawn, and it was really good. Patrick told Shawn upfront that there would never be more than good sex. His husband leaving him to go with their third devastated him. Shawn just wants to have a good time too and is perfectly fine without an exclusive relationship.
Will is crazy about Dean. But Dean just doesn’t seem to care. Shawn has one night with Will and Dean and wants more. Will wants Shawn and is ready to give up on Dean. Will, Shawn, and Dean decide maybe the three of them might work. But where does that leave Patrick?
My review sounds like a bad soap opera (sorry, not sorry)! Their confusion was heartfelt and sweet. So many feelings running through their four minds made the story beautifully chaotic. The sexy times, whether including two, three or all four, were very nicely done. The author did a great job giving four characters such distinct personalities. I felt like Patrick had the most important role, and he was also my favorite. I loved these guys!
E.M. Denning has done a beautiful job bringing these characters to life. She truly shows the more M the merrier because wow! This book is on fire.
The character development is amazing. Even with four main characters to keep track of, E.M. Denning still manages to fully develop each one along with secondary characters. It astounds me. And did I mention hot? Because it definitely is sizzling in chemistry. I absolutely love the world the author has created.
The storyline really hit home. E.M. Denning regularly proves love can look like whatever a person wants and needs it to look like. I’ll admit, I’ve been a fan of Will the entire series and really wanted him to have a story that showed off his deepness. E.M. Denning exceeded that. This book pulls on the heart and the soul and the author does not let you down. Expect all the feels and to be captive every single moment of this journey.
5 stars for a scorching, captivating and emotional book!
Awesome conclusion to this exciting unique series. Patrick, Shawn, Dean and Will connection is one I have never read before. Attraction and love are complex, trying to be yourself when everyone else wants to put you into a box can be hard. These men are brave, amazing and all so different that it works. Dean and Will have danced around each other for awhile, both scared to take the next step and be a official couple. Enter in a chance meeting with Shawn and Will can't look away. Patrick has been in a relationship like this before, he's had his heartbroken because of it before. Does he have the courage to try again? Each of these men have their own insecurities to work through, and any which way you mix them up they connect, have chemistry and care for each other in the best supportive way. Simply amazing! I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.
This was such a fantastic, grab-you-by-the-feels, powerful, poignant, fascinating, totally awesome, delightful, engaging, super sexy, and endearing story. Watching Will, Shawn, Dean, and Patrick navigated through the complicated, long, painful, and one-step-forward-two-steps-back journey filled doubts, misunderstandings, lack of communication, and the expectations of both others and themselves made this marvelous story that had me hooked from beginning to end. IMHO, EM Denning has a marvelous talent of bringing the more unconventional relationships to beautiful and vivid life. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this gem ASAP.
This was a new look at a poly relationship than what I’ve read so far and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only negative thing I could think of was that it wasn’t long enough. With so many characters to write, it’s hard to get everything you want from everyone and as a reader you wish it was just a tad longer. Otherwise another awesome installation to the Upstate series. I love it and I can’t wait for more. Patrick and Shawn and Will and Dean need all the love and I want a second book or novella with them in it. Maybe even a short where they all go and bang Rider??? (Hint hint)
Can you love more than one person? Will has loved Dean forever, but Dean was afraid to commit. Shawn cares for Will. Patrick cares for Shawn. Dean finds he cares for Patrick. Being a normal couple would be hard enough. But trying bring everyone together? This is a beautiful story of caring, commitment and learning to love together.
The boys are beautifully crafted and the paint scene was awesome. You can feel the angst as the boys try and make sense of their relationships. This is definitely one of my favorite books.
All or Nothing was an Outstanding book. E.M. Denning is a remarkable author. Her work in this book is Phenomenal. This book is hot, loving and full of caring men. Patrick, Shawn, Will, and Dean are perfect for each other. The way these men come together and love each other is so endearing. I couldn't help but to fall in love with each one of them. I will recommend this story to everyone I come across.
E.M. Denning has done it again. I just love this story so much! Patrick, Shawn, Will and Dean are just perfect for each other. This definitely wasn't easy on how they all get together but it makes me so happy. I am always love reading about unconventional relationships and this author does an amazing job. I know this is the last book in this series but this is definitely an amazing ending to this series.
I loved everything about this book, the engaging storyline, the lovable characters and the dynamic between them all, just everything. I'm sorry that this is the last book in the series but talk about ending on a high note. This was an amazing, emotional read and a great final book in the series.
Always have to love EM Denning’s flair for creating a unique story, this time with not one couple, but two couples coming together to form a 4 way relationship that was steamy, romantic and very entertaining to read! 1-click now to see how Shawn and Patrick and Will and Dean come together in All or Nothing fashion!
I've been wanting Will's book and it was definitely worth the wait. Shawn, Patrick, Dean and Will have an unconventional relationship (which this author always writes very well) but it works for them. I like the story and the characters.
What a wonderful book about a beautiful polyamorous relationship! I loved each character and the story! The dynamics seemed so authentic! Every book in this series has been outstanding!
This is a great series. This book is about Will and Dean from Rider's parties and Shawn and Patrick who are friends of Tommy's and Vince's. I love how EM Denning brought them all together. Great story, great MC's. Loved it
This wasn’t my favorite but it was worth reading if you’re already in the middle of the series. For me the 4 guys just never really clicked as one relationship and Patrick drove me insane with all of his back and forth.
