What an unexpected turn of events...

Edit, Spoiler warning:

So, only Ransom and Saint are her mates. Plus one more lad from who knows where that’ll be joining later.

The rest touched her and were like..
I love you.
I will move the sun and stars for you
damn you got an ass. So hot
you are my world and I will protect you

AS A SISTER, BRO.

Excuse me?
*gags*
*spits mouthful of water out*
*confused look on face*

All that talk in book one to lead us to... a sibling bond?

HA.

And then she declares them all hers until... what? They find the loves of their lives?

Besides that, this book wasn’t as interesting as book one.

A lot of explaining and world building that was boring and I just wanted to skim right through it.

Am interested to see who the last mate is and who the other guardian is.

So for now, yes, I am intrigued by this zoo of shifters who are guarding this special cookie of a Prime or Goddess or whatever the fuck she is.

A bit of confusion, but still good

--- SPOILERS ---
I was a bit disappointed at the beginning because it seemed like we missed quite a bit of what was happening even though only three days had elapsed and led to a lot of confusion early on. Then there are a number of the guys that now say they only have a familial interest in the FMC even though they were blatantly flirting and coming onto her in the first book. They continue to talk about how they love her and how hot she is, but wait - she's more like a sister. It's ok they aren't all involved in the harem, but the expectation was set that they would be so there was disappointment there as well. If all the guys weren't going to be involved I would have preferred actions early on that jived with the familial slant. I'm also unsure how I feel about this Ten/Saint situation and will ultimately depend on how the author handles it. All that aside, this is a great second installment in the series with excellent writing quality. I still recommend this series!

For some reason, parts of this book irritated me. Don't get me wrong, I love the plot and I love the characters, but for some reason, this book did not resonate with me. There are some aspects of it that left me annoyed and a few times when I was just confused. Overall it was a pretty good book, but I feel like it could have been a better sequel.

This book picks up a few days after the first book ended. We start with Kiema's POV, and she spends a lot of time trying to explian what happened the last few days, the days that are lost between books. This part is where I was left confused, but maybe that's what Sadie Jacks was aiming for. Kiema herself is confused about what is going on, so her narration is not exactly reliable. This person is bad, then he's good, then he's bad again, but this is all within a few pages so it left me confused and irritated. Also, Kiema trying to explain recent events, ones that were between books, could have been explained better, I feel like.

The book does get better as it goes on though. There is no more confusion, mainly because the reader is there to read about everything that is happening. Describing events that happened off the page, and the only thing the reader has to go on is the explainations by characters is always a little annoying to me. The description is never fully whole nor does it ever make complete sense. But this is just a pet peeve of mine, more than anything else. Another thing that bothered me, was how the guys were instantly and completely in love with Kiema. While I normally like books that are fast burn, it bothered me in this book. The way the guys acted and responded to events in the book did not make sense considering how long they'd actually known Kiema. They had only really met towards the end of the last book, and in the beginning of this book they were completely in love with her basically, whether it be romance or familial. I don't know why this annoyed me, but it did.

You meet some new characters in this book, and they are a great addition to the group. I already have another favorite character. More things about Kiema's life are explained, and more questions pop up as well. The mystery surrounding Kiema just gets bigger; when one question is answered, two more pop up in its place. She's an intriguing character, and the reader is left wondering who, exactly, she is and what she's capable of. As always, Asher is a favorite of mine and he just gets better with each book it seems. I love the whole group, and I love their dynamic. The banter is hilarious and I always end up laughing out loud pretty often throughout this book.

I may be a little lukewarm about this book, but I will still definitely continue this series. I'm too invested and way too curious to stop now.

Despite my annoyances, this is still a series I would recommend to people.

After the crazy cliffy of Caged Magic, I had to get my hands on this book like right away! We meet someone new in this book that compliments the others so well! Not to mention his cheeky behavior and comments ;) I was really surprised to see that the harem wasn't an immediate thing. Typically girl meets boy, girl meets boy's "brothers" and they all go orgy style...Not in this series! Kiema makes Ransom and his brothers a family in a way they weren't before, but not all of her brothers get in her pants. Although, as is typical with these kinds of books, the men all act like they can't wait to get with her. BUT after her healings she does they see her in a different light pretty quickly. Which can be slightly jarring, but it is done well... Another incredible cliffy...poor Kiema... lol

The story, the characters, the plot twists, even the cliff at the end are all perfect. I was on a high , coasting through the entire book with ease. Love these characters, and the fact that Ki gets to lay claim to all of them without being sexually romantic with them all is so much fun too. Loved it, and can not wait for more.

I found this particular book a bit confusing. The first book in the series really drew me in. The main character, Kiema, was able to be tough and vulnerable in a realistic way. The aspects of her abuse and need to escape were well handled. Her power and the guys subsequent shifting was fun and the adventure was compelling. A lot of these same strengths made it into book 2. However, in book 2, it seemed like the author took a significant time break and didn’t read her first book again. I admit to a little disappointment that only some of the guys in her “guardian” group became mates. I would have sworn though that after Xander shifted it was revealed he was also her mate. I thought that until basically the end when Saint and Ransom grab her to get her away from the other guys. Also, I had thought Reece (aka Hellion) was a possibility since he was full of magic and was able to speak to her telepathically, but he just got shot in the middle of the book. He was like a mystical advisor in book 1 and then poof, bullet to the brain. In book 1, the guys are able to buy the business belonging to Kiema’s adoptive parents with a mix of force, money, and blackmail. The blackmail being that the father was a child molester and the mother was into bestiality. Why does this never really come up again? It is really hardcore and the parents just seem to walk away to cause more trouble. Law enforcement would have been all over them if they released that info. Then there is Anda. I thought that like Tennotith and Saint, Anda was Kiema’s spirit incarnation. I guess she wasn’t? She was more a spirit guide that still lived on Earth I think. At any rate, there were maybe 5 other plot issues that really made me question what was going on. It was a definite disappointment after the success of book 1.

Not worth a read

I got through over half this book and this still feels as disjointed and underdeveloped as the first. I will say after reading the first you’re led to believe you have a decent RH but after reading more of the book you’re left with two-ish (who can’t get over their possessiveness) characters interested in her. The rest felt like she was a sister. Idk after reading through over half of this I can’t finish this series doesn’t feel polished, almost as if it was rushed through.

Ya’ll I can not wait for the next book. You think you’ve seen amazing plot twist and storylines before. Just read on! In this continuation of Kick-Ass Kiema story you will fall in love and in Lust... the story develops in a fast (but realistic) pace and your inner self will want to high five Kiema, and also live through her when she gets some revenge. You need to have this book as soon as it goes live so you don’t have to go another night dreaming of what’s going to happen

This book was okay but also a little confusing there was a time jump from when book one ended with her being kidnapped and one book 2 starts, and apparently they had escaped a treatment facility where they were doing experiments on her.

Then when she gets back to her mates and she starts healing more of the men, they realize that they only love her as a sister and they’re not actually in love with her.
That was confusing because I thought they were all going to be a part of her harem since they kept saying that she was theirs and she would say that the men were her’s 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

So apparently only 2 of the guys we know are her actual mates and the other guys will be her guardians. She has 1 more mate out there that we haven’t met.

There was a lot of information dumping for the world building where we learn this book takes place on a planet that isn’t Earth yet the dragon from inside her one mate was from there 7.5 thousand years ago.

The bad guys in this planet were also the bad guys in Earth until gods/goddesses had to step in and wipe them out before they destroyed all of humanity.

There was a little spice but truth be told I was hoping for more 😆

I also Hated that they didn’t kill her adoptive father after hearing about all the little girls he use to rape for years! As young as 6 🤢🤮😭 as a mother I hated that they healed him after kicking his ass!

All this leveling up is kinda boring as this is the second book yet she was just going through her 4th (apparently there’s 10!!!) 😳

I don’t know it’s interesting yet boring, it feels like it’s just trying to do too much.

4 Overgrown Lizard Stars

Wild Magic is the second book in the Iron Serpents series by Sadie Jacks.

Let’s start with negative, I suppose? The beginning of the book peeved me. We’re dropped right into the men still searching for Ki, which was to be expected. Cut to her, and even though (as we later find out) she’s only been gone a week, there’s this whole experience with Iron Serpents that is only mentioned. With no flashback or more relevant details, outside of her horrible treatment and Lukas saving her.

Who the frack is this Hellion guy? Trustworthy or nah? Given what the ancient book states of her intended purpose, and his seemingly somewhat helpful nature, it’s hard to clarify his intentions.

Positives:
I was beyond shocked when it was revealed Kiema wasn’t going to be in a harem with all of the men. I honestly find a substantial amount less enjoyment in books with more than the one female and three men. It tends to get confusing with more males involved. Especially when they don’t have strong individual development, leading them to blur together.

It’s not just shifters! I mean they all still have other forms. But in Xander and Saint’s cases they are these ancient, primordial beings of great power. Then there’s Anda and the mystery that is Earth and Azica.

I feel so horrible for Aeron. If he hadn’t have moved and only been injured we wouldn’t have learned that he was a part of IS because they had leverage. The more I learn of this organization, the more I want to demolish them into extinction.

Dnf at 80%

This one lost me from the start. I wasn’t digging it, we were introduced to a loooot of characters and I think that they are too many and don’t get enough screen time for me to differentiate them and like them. Except for Ashy ofc. But I was done when I found out he wasn’t on the polycule.

The story was like a melting-plot ! A mashing plottaoes salad of stuff. So yummy in theory but I need to understand what I’m being fed. So eventually I loose patience and faith and DNFed it.

3.5 rounded up

This book was.... interesting. I really liked most of book 1, so I dove into this one eagerly. It’s good, just chaotic. So much is going on, emotions are rippling everywhere, Magic is being thrown and the explanations given paint a picture that can only be considered confusing. Honestly, it’s kinda, especially since we get POV’s from characters apparently not in the harem? I’m befuddled. Intrigued, but befuddled.

Whoo! *Fans self* What a roller coaster of emotions. You go from laughter to what the heck to aww to laughter again to wait what and then you end on a cliffhanger! I mean come on! Miss Sadie knows how to keep you entertained! Favorite characters: Saint. What a glorious sexy and SMART man. I imagine it helps being connected to a dragon. The goddess, LOVE her. And Keima wow.... She is really learning and growing within herself. Can't wait to see where this goes.

After the first book, I was craving to know what happens next, and Wild magic did not disappoint. Sucking you into a crazy world of action and Kiema truly showing how strong she is. Not to mention how she is a badass warrior who will not allow her life to be controlled.

The story line is great, really follows through and doesn’t rush through plot just to get to the next part. Great humor and fun to read. I can not wait to see how the family takes on IS and who will come out on top!

The series just keeps getting better

Our badass MC, Keima, just keeps getting better and better. She’s really coming into her magic while learning more about herself and the role she plays. Keima is stuck between opposing parties who want her for what she can do for them rather than what’s best for her. Despite the whirlwind that is her life, she stays strong and doesn’t let impact her morals or darken her heart.
I love, love, love that each of the guys plays a different role in Keima’s life whether it’s as a mate or guardian. I’m so used to the RH where the MC is bonded to everyone in the group that I didn’t even know how much I would enjoy seeing her have different relationships which each member. We get to see even more into the personalities of the guys and what makes each of them tic. Seeing them look at Keima as family when all she’s wanted is love and somewhere to belong is amazing. Each of her guardians protects her so well without smothering her fiery spirit.
Keima’s relationship with Ransom and Saint/Tenn continues to grow and the steamy scenes keep getting steamier.
Sadie develops the story in a way that it you’re wondering what loop is going to be thrown next without making it too farfetched. Some stories go off the rails when too many twists and turns are thrown in, but Sadie adds to the plot in a way that you almost want to skip ahead to see how everything plays out.

Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance

Keima has ascended. She still needs to find her last mate and 2 guardians. This book changes often as you learn more about who she is. I love that Earthings are actually the aliens in this story. I am looking forward to book 3.

Rollercoaster ride of a book!

It was a quick easy read, not the last in the series but totally great and worth 5 stars. The cliffhanger is not cataclysmic so once you're done reading you're happily sated until the next book, other books too your heart out at the end then you have to wait, not this one, if you only read full series this is a good unfinished one to start.

Really enjoyed the first book, was having high hopes! Then about a quarter of the way through the second I find out that at least 2 of the men in her group don’t fancy her!! I decide to read some reviews of this book and the 3rd one...to find out that 3 of them get their own woman and they are in their own harem!?? Errrr...sorry? What’s all that about??.....Asher seemed to really fancy Keima and then he’s not interested in dipping his wick and sees her as a sister!....there’s apparently M/M in the third one so that’s a definitely no no for me. If there’s going to be another women and her harem, it should be a separate book! Not impressed that I spent so many hours invested in the story....that’ll teach me for not thoroughly reading the reviews first!

For me....in an RH it should be all about the women and so it doesn’t make any sense to me for M/M to be in these books....it’s like saying....yeah let’s forget about the heroine and just have sex with Each other!

This story took a weird turn. The 1st book was meh at best. Not good but killed some time. The 2nd book all of a sudden started to focus on Earth. I hadn’t even really know that it wasn’t on Earth. Sure, the author used weird names for locations but never talked about being on another world or realm in the entire first book. But the 2nd book was all about how it’s not Earth.

The author keeps referring to Earth and using pop culture references from Earth. The author has never given any of the characters backstories as being from Earth but they know a shit ton of pop culture references. Specifically from the United States, some of it old and obscure. It was very jarring to read. Because I kept thinking why would people on another world (?) realm (?) care about Earth at all. They wouldn’t know anything about it especially pop culture references. They also wouldnt give a shit about Earth. The author need to stick with a location. It feels like the author wanted to continue the story and just picked something a couple of chapters in on the 2nd book.

One of the mates of the MC has a dragon who is something like 15,000 years old. He hangs out with people in their 20’s that act like teenagers. That is preposterous. I’m no where near 15,000 years old and wouldn’t want anything to do with how they act. It is all mean, belittling, negative teasing, not to mention caveman/jealous speak. I can kinda stomach talking all possessive at the beginning but come on get over it and develop the characters.

The characters are described as being uber competent and highly successful at their company. But doesn’t explain anything about said business. They also don’t seem to have anything to do with the business. Yet they bought up lots of property and outfitted a medical wing. So they have money.

I swear there were 3 mates with 1 more to find but then their were 2 with 1 mate still to find. There are lots of guardians who were overtly lusty and sexual with the MC at the beginning. But the author jarringly made their relationship platonic. Which is shitty for them. They have to watch all the lusty behavior and have no real outlet excepts maybe their hand. Maybe 1 or 2 will do each other, but for the most part the men have been very vocal about being straight and not even a little straightish. l

I'm so disappointed! I loved book 1 and was excited to read book 2. I thought I had finally found a good reverse harem series. Nope.

I can live with the slightly disjointed start, where several days are skipped from the heroines perspective. I can live with the abrupt information that this is not earth but another planet. It feels a little like the author hadn't fleshed out the story in book 1, hence the jarring new facts, but to me that's acceptable.

I cannot accept the sudden change in the developing relationship between the heroine and what we all assumed to be her harem. Spoiler...

... most of them are not in her harem. Oh, you thought Asher was salivating over her? Nah, he sees her as a sister. Couldn't wait to see how the relationship between the broody Doctor Atlas and our girl would unfurl. Too bad - ain't happening. I mean, we were even teased with the sexy voice of the red headed Lucas in book one - but nope. Turns out he bats for the other team.

When I began reading book 1, I assumed it was a straight forward, one male, one female type romance and was happy enough with the relationship between Ransom and Kiema. When I understood that it was intended to become a reverse harem, I was excited to see how the series would develop. It feels as though the author intended for Keima to have all of the men in her harem, but then thought "Oh wait, I could split the men into a couple of groups and squeeze another series out of this," hence the sudden flip flop from potential lovers into familial feelings.

I did not finish the book. I stopped at around 25%, right when it was revealed that most of the men saw Keima as a little sister. I'm off to search for the next disaster, since I can't ever seem to find a decent series.

DNF.

WTF happened?!?
All these guys were like in love with her and obsessed with her body, and so you just assumed they are going to be in her harem, but nope, they suddenly are super protective but only feel like she’s their sister?!? WTF?!? 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Not to mention this book starts off with a gap between book one & book two. So you confused, wondering what the heck is going on and why.

There is no world building. Evidently they are not on earth but some other world. Nothing is explained. They talk and act and use pop culture references like they are from earth but nope.

Supposedly based off reviews, there will be MM in book 3 and I don’t like MM in my RH’s.
