Eva Gray has a secret. Eight years ago her sister entered the Brothers of Sin Motorcycle Club and never came back. Seven years ago she vowed revenge, even if she had to change everything about her life to do it - her look, her name, her face.

Now she's stalking the Brothers and looking for weakness. She's close to achieving her goal, so close she can taste it. But a prominent federal judge is now in ICU, and Eva's the only one who can prove the club hired the hit.

Jake Ryan was once a Brother, but he got his life together when a judge gave him a choice: prison or the military. He took the military, and he's never looked back. Now, as a member of the lethal Hostile Operations Team, he's accustomed to working on the side of justice. So when Declan MacKenzie comes to Washington, DC, and asks him to infiltrate his old gang to protect a witness and get evidence, he doesn't hesitate to do his duty. But little does he suspect that Eva Gray is a girl he once knew or that she's on a mission of her own. A mission that could see them both dead before they're through.

When the warrior meets the vengeful virgin, nothing and no one is safe...

Having been a huge fan of this author for years, this is just a small taste of all the awesome that is her HOT series. Don't let the series number intimidate you because this is easily read as a standalone. Neither of the MCs ever made an appearance before this book so you won't be lost on any of the backstory.

This novella is a crossover of Harris's HOT series set inside Liliana Hart’s MacKenzie family world. Liliana is an author I haven't read yet and I fully intend to rectify this immediately, as well as reading the rest of the crossover novellas that are a part of this.

As for the story, it's a quickie but no less potent. Lynn Raye Harris manages to pack in just enough character development along her typical heart pounding suspense and wrap it all around a sizzling romance. The end result is one sexy romantic suspense novella.

Jake Ryan is a member of the elite HOT team. But that wasn't always the case. Years ago he was on the opposite end of the law as a Brothers of Sin Motorcycle Club member. The military saved him and the HOT team has become his new family. Now he's been assigned to infiltrate his old gang to save a woman caught in the middle...a woman with plenty of secrets of her own.

Eva and Jake were perfect together. There's just enough sexual tension to truly skyrocket their chemistry. Eva is exactly the heroine I've come to expect from this author; strong and willful. She may be a virgin because she's dedicated herself to her revenge and love has never entered the equation...until Jake.

If you're looking for a hot read to spend the afternoon with that will give you a perfect taste of the talent of this author, I can't recommend this enough. Prepare yourself to binge on her entire HOT series after. Don't say I didn't warn you ;)

This was a nice little story but was very typical of a novella in that it ends in a flash and the H/h have miraculously fallen in love and eventually end up married.....It really was way too quick for me and I didn't feel it added anything to the series.

Yes, this story did have connections with Liliana Hart's Mackenzie world but we didn't get to catch up with anybody, it was mainly a case of having their name mentioned alongside sentences such as 'The Mackenzies are sorting that out' or 'The Mackenzies will deal with that' so anybody who had read/follows Ms Hart's series (Like myself!) would be a little disappointed.

All the drama! Lynn Raye Harris packs a heck of a lot into Hot Witness. There’s so much action in Eva and Jake's story that I certainly didn’t get bored.

I love a kickass heroine like Eva. She’s extremely determined, strong and talented. She never gives up on her goal of justice by putting everything into fighting the bad guys. She never comes across as hard or too steely but The Brothers of Sin better watch out with Eva around.

Jake has spent years righting past wrongs and serving his country, but he’s about to be faced with the mission of a lifetime – saving Eva from the Brothers and herself.

I loved them together and really wanted them to find the HEA…

4 Stars in my Sky!

I have enjoyed the Hostile Operations Team series from the very first book and have been honored to be on Lynn Raye Harris' review team.

Lynn Raye Harris adds her unique twist to Liliana Hart’s MacKenzie family with Hot Witness. This novella isn't quite a divergent book but Ms. Hart has several authors bringing her Mackenzie's into their series. This could have spelled disaster. Fortunately for us, Ms. Harris knows her HOT team and managed to write a deliciously wicked romance that alluded to the Mackenzies rather than incorporated them.

Jake Ryan was well on his way to a wasted life. He had joined a gang and had nothing to look forward to, until one judge decided to give him a chance. A Chance that changed his life. Jail or Join the military. Jake joined and now he's a member of the elite Hostile Operations Team. Life is pretty darn good. Only the man who changed his life is at death's door and the gang he escaped from is to blame. Jake has been challenged with finding the informer and keeping her safe.

Eva Gray has an agenda and it's more than making the most awesome tattoos. Not that she isn't one of the best. But Eva wants to prove the leader of a local gang is responsible for the death of her sister. She's getting close but time is running out. When Jake Ryan reemerges as part of the gang, Eva is more than a little disappointed. She had hoped he got out. But even knowing what she knows about this gang, Eva finds herself attracted to Jake. When she realizes that he literally holds her life in his hands, Eva falls hard.

The Hostile Operation Team Series has always been a fast paced delight. Action and more action along with excellent dialog and fantastic characters. It seems each book is just enough. Imagine getting all of that into a novella? What a talent Ms. Harris has. She has managed to shorten the story and not lose any of the impact! YAY!

As a novella the time frame of course is smooshed so to speak but when reading I fell right into the story and my only serious complaint? The book ended! Yeah, I know how dare she?

Another excellent book from Ms. Harris.

Just too short for me. Even though it's a novella, I was hoping for a little more. A great setup and introduction to the main characters...and then not much happens. Then there's an epilogue to tell a little more.
But, if you're a fan of Ms. Harris's HOT series like I am, then this was a fun, quick visit into that world.

Ms. Harris does it yet again.... A novella that is connected to her Hostile Operations Team series and The MacKenzie Family..... this book offers her typical elements; rescue, adventure, an exciting chase and oh that magic spark between the hero and the heroine...!!!... Loved it, so much, I always look forward to returning to the steamy and perilous reads.

How can you go wrong with a book written by Lynn Raye Harris about one of her HOT guys and combined with some of Liliana Hart's MacKenzie crew? You can't! A quick and really good read.

“When the warrior meets the vengeful virgin, nothing and no one is safe…”
I was not familiar with the MacKenzie series and didn’t need to be to enjoy this novella. It was fast paced, full on action, and a hot sexy plot. The romance/relationship happened very quickly but the author did it in a way that was believable. The main characters had an instant chemistry and connection so that it just felt right. Has a very strong female lead out for revenge and a former bad boy now hero military male lead out to save her. This is a novella but nothing is lacking. The author wrote a complete story that was a combination of excitement, emotion, drama, romance and hot sex. I devoured it in less than an hour and was intrigued with the storyline.
ARC was provided and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

Holy amazing! There is no better combination of two series than the HOT men and the Mackenzies. Oh I have missed my HOT books and loved this one, even though it was short and I read it straight through. Jake was amazing and sweet while Eva was tough and brave. No one does military men like Lynn Raye Harris!

I am not familiar with the MacKenzie family so this is my introduction to them. That did not take away from the story nor of my enjoyment of it though. I liked that it flowed, there was no forced conflict, no drama for drama's sake. Everything fit, which made for a fast paced, satisfying read. Eva is a fierce heroine. She was focused, determined and courageous. She was afraid but she did not let that stop her. That's my kind of female lead.

If you are a fan of the HOT series, or even if this is your first time across this series, like it was for me, you need to read this quick Novella. Jake Ryan is brought in to help the McKenzie’s to bring down the Brothers of Sin MC. His way in is that he was once a Brother. What he wasn’t expecting is to fall head over heels for the woman he was sent in to bring out.
Eva was out for revenge, the MC killed her sister, all she wanted was to bring them down. She knew Jake high school and was her crush, but he didn’t realize it was her. This book had me on the edge of my seat hoping they could get away from the MC, and waiting for them to fall in love. Praying that the Cox went down.
This is a first book for me, from this author, and if the rest of her books are amazing as this novella is, you can bet your bottom dollar, I WILL be reading more. This author does not leave you hanging, and the thing is, a Novella is short, and boy she packed a punch in that short time.

Revenge & love

Love the strong characters-story is exciting, exhilarating, full of secrets, HOT, and romantic. Enjoyed it-centered around revenge, payback with second chances. Short story, not as full of all the team or near as many twists. Centered around the main characters

I have had this series on my radar for a while now and Hot Witness made a great entry point for me!

Jake Ryan could have seriously gone down the wrong path in life as a teenager, but an arrest and a run-in with a judge who gave him a chance to turn his life around changed everything. Now that judge is fighting for his life after a murder attempt, and Jake has to step back into the world he escaped to repay a debt of gratitude and bring down the outlaw bikers he used to run with.

Eva has spent 7 years changing everything about her life in order to become a person that could infiltrate the world of the bikers who murdered her sister. She has nothing but gut instinct to base it on but she is determined to bring her sister's killer to justice. She thinks she has covered her tracks well, but if the HOT team and MacKenzie Security are on to her, it won't be long before the well- connected MC will be too. When Jake walks through her door, she momentarily panics but settles when she contemplates how much she has changed since high school. Jake will need connect her with who she used to be, right? Wrong! Things escalate quickly as the judge's condition deteriorates, and soon Eva and Jake are running for her life.

Eva is no longer the shy mouse with glasses Jake remembers, but the sexy tattooed fierce woman he faces now has his full and undivided attention! And while Eva may have contemplated finding a nice boring man to settle down with after she found closure, she is rethinking that choice after spending time with the tattooed, badass operator who still revs her motor like no one else.

Two minor points detracted from the story a little bit for me. One, I hear the name Jake Ryan and my thoughts immediately go to Sixteen Candles. I know, I am dating myself here, but it is what it is. Second, I am a bit over the 20-something virgin thing. But given Eva was just a senior in high school when her sister died and her whole focus turned to reinventing herself with single-minded determination, it is believable in her case and it didn't bother me as much.

Hot Witness was a fun, fast-paced and sexy ride, and I definitely need to read more of this series!

Lynn Raye Harris is one of those authors whom I never hesitate to "one click"; I look forward to her new releases a little bit like Christmas Morning. (Don't laugh, you know you have at least one author you feel that way about, too!)

Hot Witness was a fun, quick read for me. It introduces a new character from Ms. Harris' "HOT" world into Liliana Hart's "McKenzie Family" world. I admit that I've only read the first McKenzie book, so I don't have a real feel for her world, but the great thing is that I didn't need to in order to enjoy this book. (And by the way, I'm definitely adding some Liliana Hart books to my TBD list now.) In fact, I think someone who's not familiar with either author's books could still really enjoy this story.

I've read about a million different types of Romance novels, and stories about biker gangs always turn me off, so I was glad to see that this story isn't actually about the "MC". This is the story of a genuinely good guy who could have wasted his life as a kid because he joined an MC, but fate stepped in and got him into the Military, instead. Now, he's part of the HOT group, who have agreed to help the McKenzie's bring down his old gang. Being the good guy that he is, Jake agrees to help: there's a woman who's tipped off the authorities, the only person willing to testify against the powerful MC. Jake needs to get close to her and get her out of the gang's hands safely.

Our Heroine, Eva, has dedicated years of her life to bringing the MC to it's knees, to the point that she's had no real life. She's ready and willing to die to bring these killers to justice if she can, and kill their leader herself if she can't. She recognizes Jake from their teen years, and it's hard for her to trust him at first.

Ms. Harris writes strong characters, and Jake and Eva are the same. They're both realistic, complex, and interesting - a hallmark of the HOT books. The chemistry between them builds quickly, and the story has a satisfying ending. I'm eager to read some more McKenzie books, then come back to "Hot Witness" to see if I can catch any little nods to the McKenzie world I may have missed the first time.

If you haven't read any of the HOT books by Lynn Raye Harris, Hot Witness gives you a little bit of an appetizer. If you enjoy it, I highly recommend picking up the first "Hostile Operations Team" book (Hot Pursuit), and diving into that world. "Hot Witness" is a nice little taste, whereas each of the HOT books is a full, four-course meal. You'll definitely come back to the table for more.

3.25-3.5 stars. This was a pretty good little book. Hot Witness by Lynn Raye Harris is a novella set in Lilianna Hart's MacKenzie series world. This is Jake and Eva's story. Jake was a bad boy in high school and he was a recruit for a MC club on the wrong side of the law at 18. But he turned his life around by joining the military, leaving the MC behind and becoming a special ops team member. Now, 7 years later, his help is requested by Declan MacKenzie to go under cover in the same MC he left behind. His job is to talk to Eva Gray, who is the MC tattoo artist. She witnessed, and reported anonymously, a crime the MC committed of attempted murder of a federal judge and the murder of his wife. Jake must convince Eva to testify against the MC members. So he goes undercover as if he just got out of the military and wanted to rejoin the MC. He meets Eva, and discovers she has secrets of her own. Eva is undercover on her own mission to avenge the murder of her sister at the hands of the MC president years before. Jake and Eva feel a connection and chemistry with each other. They both are able to get their missions accomplished and they fall in love. The MC goes down for their crimes and Jake and Eva get their HEA.

I liked Jake and Eva. I would have liked to know more about them. I felt like the book was really short, even though it was 110 pages. The pacing was off a bit. The book is 11 chapters and most of it is build up without much payoff. Jake and Eva do not really get together physically until chapter 10 and then they are in love after that. I didn't feel their chemistry because I felt rushed a bit. I liked the story a lot, but I would have loved for their relationship to have been fleshed out a bit more.

Overall, though, I did enjoy the novella. Jake and Eva were sweet together. This was my first book from Ms. Harris and I would definitely read more from her in the future.

This is the 9.5th book of the series. However, you will understand more if you’ve read earlier books of this series. This is a smaller in length book which is why it’s not a full number higher.
If you want to read what the book is about, read above the reviews.

Our hero’s past has caught up with him and his commander wants him to go back to where he was before the military. He doesn’t want to go, but knows someone needs his help along with the judge who had turned his life around and got him out of his colors.

Our heroine wants to find out what happened to her sister. Who was responsible for her death? Now she’s overheard them talking about trying to kill a judge and she knows she has to warn someone. However, when it’s done, she can’t do anything about it. She has to watch her back because the group she’s now in with, to catch who killed her sister, is watching her carefully. She has to watch it or else she’ll find herself as someone’s wife and then there will be no getting out.

The plot is good and fast moving even for such a small book. There’s a lot jammed in the few pages that are this read of just over 100 pages. Although some of the plot is almost laughable, it still flows. The heroine is way out there for me, but is a tough woman. These are the reasons for the lower rating score. The hero is like most of the hero’s in the series – wants to save everyone.

I can only wonder what the next book in the series will bring.

This was a quick little read in between books. This technically takes place after Chase’s book and before Dex’s, but you don’t have to read it because obviously it’s a standalone, but it also deals with a member of the Echo squad and not the alpha squad.

It was kinda funny reading this after I read Cade’s story since it does take place before then. So seeing Cade single yet knowing his story was funny. I do recommend reading it before reading Cade’s story since a married Jake pops up in his story.

Jake is a badA operator who used to be in a motorcycle gang before getting into trouble and choosing to go into the military to save his life. However now he has to go back to that gang and pretend to be one of them so he can help take them down, but mainly so he can get Eva Gray out of there safely.

Eva is this hardcore tattoo artist who has tats literally everywhere. However, she used to be this quiet, shy little girl in high school whose real name was Evelyn. Her older sister heather was involved with the motorcycle gangs leader, but sadly got murdered by him, unfortunately he was never charged for the crime. Now Eva has infiltrated the gang and is slowly working to take them down.

Jake and Eva’s romance is a quick one but that definitely does not mean it lacks passion. Jake pretty much knows immediately that he wants Eva forever and she also knows. They don’t hide from their feelings which means they spend a couple days isolated just embraced in each other.

Good but not a favorite

The completist in me is glad I read this one, but it is my least favorite so far. Two reasons stand out for this.

1) I'm just not a fan of the motorcycle club romance genre. Too stereotypical with the ink and badass lawbreaking outlaw gang crap. Yeah, there are some of those, but most are really nothing like that IRL. I just can't seem to ever connect with the MC characters.

2) This was set in a different universe and it felt I was plopped down in the middle of a foreign story arc. Being a nivella, there wasn't much background info before the action started. The author did feed bits as rhe story progressed, but I never felt much connection like I do with other HOT books.

Those things considered, the book was decent. It had its moments. I LOVE that the guy emptied the MAGAZINE of his gun instead of a clip. So rare that authors get that right. I paused and did a happy dance this time. A clip is used to load cartridges into a magazine. A magazine is inserted into the gun which fires the bullet from the cartridge then ejects the case. At the end, I teared up a bit at the letter from Duke.

This was overall just typical cookie cutter romance stuff. Not bad, just not what I've come to expect from a HOT novel. 3 stars for the story, 5 stars for Aiden Snow's narration. He IS the voice of HOT for me now!

description

This is the my first book by this author and it will absolutely not be my last. Seamlessly the HOT team entered into the MacKenzie world to send Jake Ryan back to a place he left behind years ago. He was once a member of Brothers of Sin MC he needs to go back in to help someone get out.

Eva Gray is hiding behind ink and a tattoo gun, biding her time for the moment she has been waiting for, for eight long years. But when a new/old brother rolls into town he might just ruin these plans. But while he might ruin everything he also awakens feelings Eva thought were all but dead.

A mix of suspense, sassiness and sexy this little novel had a bit of it all. I enjoyed the characters and even though we only got them for a short period of time they were full of personality and it was enough time to become connected with them. My only complaint was that I wished it was longer. This could have easily been a full length novel and would have been just as enjoyable. I enjoyed this author's story-telling and we got enough of a background into the Hostile Operations Team that made me want more of them.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Hot Pursuit (Hostile Operations Team, #1)
Hot Mess (Hostile Operations Team, #2)
Hot Package (Hostile Operations Team, #3)
Dangerously Hot (Hostile Operations Team, #4)
Hot Shot (Hostile Operations Team, #5)
Hot Rebel (Hostile Operations Team, #6)
Hot Ice (Hostile Operations Team, #7)
Hot & Bothered (Hostile Operations Team #8)
Hot Seal
Hot Protector (Hostile Operations Team #9)

This is Eva and Jake’s story. Eva knows the club did something to her sister. She knows she went in to the club 8 years and ago and never came back out. She wants revenge. She is willing to do anything to expose the club even if it means changing everything about her. Just when she is close to getting answers the club hires a hit on a federal judge and she can prove it. Jake used to be in the club but is no longer. He is asked to go back in undercover. What he finds out is Eva is there and she knew him when he was younger. With them both on separate missions on what they want from the club can they work together? Or will those missions get them so far in danger that they might never get out?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

HOT Witness by Lynn Raye Harris. Wow! I really, really enjoyed this one. I'm not usually a fan of novellas but Ms. Harris certainly did a great job with HOT Witness. I liked both Jake and Eva. Eva was pretty amazing - her strength and determination was admirable yet she was vulnerable and innocent too. Jake was smokin' and just a down to earth and good guy. Together they had sparks and chemistry. I thought they were truly made for each other. The bad guy was bad and the danger was real. Being a novella, it was over way too fast for me (which is why novellas aren't usually my favorite). I wanted more - more danger, more Eva and Jake time, just more! Despite that, Ms. Harris still had my attention from page one. I enjoyed that this was a crossover, having read the MacKenzie series (which is not necessary to enjoy this one) so it was fun to hear, even if briefly, about Declan and Sophia. I am looking forward to future HOT stories from Ms. Harris and am excited for Dex's story coming up next. (received ARC for honest review)

If it's HOT, you've gotta know I'm reading it! This was a quick read novella, but it packed plenty into that short space. HOT is working with Declan MacKenzie to remove a witness from hostile territory, otherwise known as a biker compound. Jake used to have an affiliation with the bikers when he was young, so he gets drafted for the job. His witness is a tough tatted up tattoo artist who for some reason looks familiar. He is ready to do what it takes to get her out, but Eva isn't interested in leaving. She's right where she wants to be, and she needs to complete her mission. Jake isn't about to take no for an answer.

Jake is really hot, and Eva has enough spunk to stand up to him and everyone else. As is part for the course in any HOT book, the chemistry was sparking and the action level was high. The hero was alpha, and the girl was gutsy. My only complaint is that I want more!

I gratefully received an ARC from the author for honest review .

Eva is the kind of woman when she has a goal, she focuses herself to achieve that. Her sister's death changed her. Her mother lost her will to live and the murderer never caught.

Eva forget her dream and never enjoy life. Her goal is to infiltrate the motorbike gang who killed her sister. It's a brave move but also a stupid move. She is a woman without backup and without training but brave I must admit.

Then Jake came along to rescue her before it's too late and the gang boss kill her too.

In this book, the motorbike gang is cruel and organised, it's different from the one in the HOT Seal book 7 & 8. So I would say the villains are the equal match for HOT.

It is a fun reading only I wish the story will be longer.

Its been too long since I read a book by this author, I'd forgotten how much I love her writing and her HOT military men.

This was a novella, a crossover between The Hostile Operations Team and Liliana Harts Mackenzies (which I've not read.....yet!) but if you've not read either, this stands completely alone and would be a great introduction.

For a shorter story there was a lot packed in. Even though it was fairly insta love, Jake and Eva had known each other in the past, so reconnected quickly as trust needed to be built fast. Amongst the danger and suspense, this was a sweet, steamy love story and I will look forward to reading about the rest of Jakes special ops team.

This is a short novella featuring HOT and the Mackenzie's clan. They get together when Ryan is sent back to his old stomping grounds to rescue an informant in the MC club. He doesn't realize till he gets there that he knows the woman. Eva is in the club as their personal tattooist. But she is there to find evidence on who killed her sister seven years earlier. This was a very fast read and there was plenty of drama and fighting throughout. He must get her out alive to bare witness to the plot to kill a judge. Will they make it out? Or will the MC president get his way and take her as his? Audio portion was only a little over 2 hours long.

Hot Witness by Lynn Raye Harris has a HOT member joining forces with the MacKenzies in one awesome story. Eva and Jake’s story may be novella in length but it is action packed full of danger with a criminal biker gang, suspense and romance. I loved how Jake’s back story is given, showing how he has changed from a wannabe thug to a man of honor with purpose. Eva was a woman on a dangerous but worthy mission, showing just what an amazing heroine she is. Together Eva and Jake rock; falling in love is just the bonus to catching the murderous bad guy.
Hot Witness is a great read. Fans of the two series will love it. (MacKenzies do not have a significant role in the story but do make an appearance.) All suspense romance readers out there should enjoy this one too. I can highly recommend.
The author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book.
