I've heard wonderful things about this devotional. In fact I was gifted it during a difficult time in my life, because it's such a highly recommended devotional. Though, I had difficulty reading it. That was my personal experience. The author writes as though Jesus is talking to us directly. However, I know it's is the writer's words, so it was hard for me to read from this point of view. With language being used as though it was God writing, it was difficult reading this from something other than the Bible.

An incredibly life-changing daily devotional. I didn’t start it at the beginning of the year but when I needed it and later caught up on previous dates when I needed extra).
This book is like a hug from God and some days it feels like He is actually speaking just to you.
The author who passed away of cancer in 2023, Sarah Young, was a missionary who worked with sexually abused women globally. Her story of how she came to write this book is beautiful as well.

Last year (2021) was the second time I read through this wonderful book. Reading over my highlights and notes from 2020 was so powerful and helpful to me.
This was like a warm, comforting hug during another hard, trying year.
