It could have been just an innocent crush. Something guiltless and fleeting. But Luke spends every day with Marcus; they talk, touch and dance together, they create and perform together. They know each other inside out. As a consequence, Luke has been in love with his very much taken choreographer for years. Seeing Marcus and his partner Liam together has become increasingly painful, and Luke needs to leave. His dancing career is nearing an end anyway. He will start university, reinvent himself, forget Marcus and find happiness elsewhere.

Except Marcus loves him back. And Liam knows. Liam’s dark eyes and his imposing silhouette begin haunting Luke’s dreams. Drowning in both lust and sadness, Luke is swept into a passionate triangle with two men who couldn’t be more different. Suddenly, instead of fear or caution, there’s just a mind-numbing desire for more.

I love Roe Horvat and everything that he writes, and Third One was just as scorching hot as I was hoping it would be.

Historically, I have a much harder time with poly romance books than romance books with only two people in a relationship, though some of my favorite books feature a poly romance. However, they tend to be the exception. While I thoroughly enjoyed Third One, the actual romance of it wasn't as strong for me as in the first two books in the series.

The sex was there and the book was nearly unputdownable but the love between Lucas and Liam in such a short span of time... ehhh.

I think this book will be a hit for most readers, and I loved reading it, but I enjoyed it more for the electric, raw sensuality than for the deep romantic connection. I think poly books are just much harder to pull off. And, to be frank, the first two books are some of my all-time favorites and are a very difficult act to follow.

Roe Horvat is one of my favorite authors, and if you loved The Other Book and Adam Only, you will enjoy this one too. Roe truly never lets me down.

I love Roe.
I love Roe's books.
I wanted to love this book.
And...the world really must be ending because I didn't. *sob*
I liked it. I liked it just fine! But the love was missing for me here and quite frankly, I'm devastated.
I'll disclaim straightaway that I am VERY particular about the poly books that I read.
I recently read another "3 in the bed" romance by a favorite author that totally missed the mark with me.
This wasn't a miss but it wasn't a bullseye either.
Why?
I didn't feel the cohesiveness.
I didn't feel the equality.
I didn't feel the click I was desperately craving.
Which totally sucksssss! Damn, I couldn't wait for this book.

A total petty thing that drove me bonkers was the pet name they all used interchangeably. I wanted distinct and exclusive terms of endearment. When there are several lovers in play I want to easily recognize who is talking to who. When everyone began calling each other 'baby' my eye began to twitch. Stupidly small irritation that snowballed as the pages flipped by.

Another snag I found was the missing emotional connection. The physical connection is present without a doubt and holy hotness, there isn’t any erotic elements missing here.
It is sexy and will light you up! There is no question about Roe's ability to pen smoking 'other books'.

You see Marcus and Liam have been together for close to a decade.
They are happy. Content? Not really but definitely happy.
They haven't been alone the entire time but it's been years since they had another partner.
Marcus has been in love with Luke for several years.
Likewise, Luke has been in love with Marcus.
So, the missing link is Luke and Liam.
Still with me? Good!
I kept waiting for them come together and I'm not talking about bodily fluids.
AND...they did and it was magnificent but then...doubt crept in.
They had it and consequently, so did I.
However, words spoken in the heat of the moment made my heart sink.
I know he didn't mean it. But it was my fears materialized.
And I just couldn't overcome the rift that was created with that particular dialogue.

Great guys.
Great sex.
Great writing.
But not so great poly for me.
I hope it works better for you! *fingers crossed*

Poly romances usually aren’t my thing, but at this point, I think Horvat could take any of my no-fly-zone themes or tropes and work the shit outta them to my utter delight.

I enjoyed this throuple relationship a good deal. Hot as hell, sure, but as per usual, Horvat’s finely crafted writing skills invoke all sorts of emotional reactions from me, making his stories erotic, sensual and tender, but also deeply moving and grounded in reality.

Marcus and Liam taking Luke on a third in their decade-strong relationship could have been shaky ground for me, but it worked and worked well. The characters were each deftly drawn, and it helped a great deal that the growing feelings between the three, in their varying forms, took shape over a good deal of time, making the transition into physical intimacy all the more natural when it happened.

Unsurprisingly, Liam stood out to me as the character of most depth and intrigue, but I tend to lean towards his type heavily in my romance reading. As far as I’m concerned, Marcus and Luke are two very lucky guys.

Unashamedly sexual and sensual, Third One is a pitch perfect demonstration of how to write erotica packed full of emotional vulnerability.

With this tale, Roe shows how two can become three when all parties involved have the same desire - to make each other happy.

It's incendiary level hot, the way Luke is enveloped inside Marcus and Liam's relationship oozes with sexual chemistry.

But there's so more than just the sex. Luke gives Liam the impetus to slow his workaholic ways, for Marcus, he's someone to take care of and Luke himself benefits from knowing he is wanted and that he belongs to the other two.

This series from Roe is rapidly becoming one of my absolute favourites in this genre. Guest appearances from Adam and Christoffe also made me very happy!

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I always have high expectations for polyamorous romances. It’s really difficult to find good ones where all the partners are equal and feelings are genuine.

Sadly, Third One left me somehow disappointed. The sex scenes are exquisite, and there are some truly spectacular moments.
Luke felt relief. Slow and exploring, kissing Liam was a revelation. Liam tasted of freedom. Years of guilt and loneliness melted away in that kiss.

Luke has valid doubts about the three of them pursuing a relationship.
“Then what are you afraid of?”
“Being the third one.”

Though Liam managed to win Luke over, neither he, nor Luke persuaded me the genuineness of their feelings.
“The three of us, we have a chance at something beautiful,” Liam said, his breath on Luke’s mouth. “Maybe I’m just greedy, but the closer I am to fifty, the less I care about guilt or shame or judgment. I want everything. I want Marcus content, I want you in my bed, and I want you to want me the same way you want him.”

And I didn’t really like Marcus, sometimes he behaved immature.

There’s too much focus on the erotica, and not enough on the relationship development.

I want a Liam of my own. Where can I find one?

All I have to say is that Marcus is one lucky bastard because Liam, in all his broody, intense glory, is magnificent. No wonder Marcus adores him.

But Marcus, sweet and vulnerable, is in love with Luke too, and Luke pines after Marcus. The men have worked together (Luke as a dancer, Marcus as a choreographer) side by side for years, but Luke knows Marcus has a partner.

Luke and Marcus are miserable denying their love. Luke's internal monologues are downright angsty. Luke is the broken dancer, putting on a mask, even as his spirit slowly withers away.

(What I don't understand is why Marcus didn't talk to Liam sooner about bringing Luke into their fold. Why, oh, why?)

Roe Horvat writes toe-curling erotic scenes: dirty, sensual, kinky, lush. The threesome sex scenes in this book are the best I've ever read. There's even sex on a boat ... praise jesus!

I liked all three men and appreciated that each of them had a voice in telling the story.

Like other readers, I too wanted to see a stronger emotional connection between Luke and Liam on page, but I feel like perhaps the connection had been there for a while, just unspoken.

I truly hope there's another Other book.

3.5 Stars!

Well this was HOT. I'll certainly give it that. And so I'll round up to 4 stars.

But honestly, this wasn't that believable. I felt a bit lost, especially at the beginning. Like we were dropped in the middle of a story. So a bit more lead-up and development would have been nice.

Yeah, the three of them exploded off of the pages sexually, but that's about it. We didn't get enough story for me to believe that they were all in love with each other. Especially Luke and Liam. Luke and Marcus I guess more so because they worked together for 4 years. I can imagine that happening. But still we didn't get any part of that story.

Personally speaking, I am more a fan of Roe's other works - The Layover, Vanilla Clouds, etc. but I can appreciate things about this one too. ;)

An angsty threesome where the third comes into an established relationship is my favorite kind of menage. I do think, though, that the sex was too much and relationship development was too little.

I think I have been waxing lyrics about the beauty and sensuality of Roe’s writing with virtually every book he’s written. And it's not any different here.

I loved Liam and Marcus. I loved Marcus and Luke. I loved Luke and Liam.
Particularly once they get together and create enough steam to cause a thermal explosion.
But, as always with Roe, it’s never just steam without substance. It isn’t something many authors can achieve, namely that …

“Sex wasn’t just a basis for their relationship but an outlet for the excess of feeling. The way they made love was an extension of their conversations, just as substantial. They communicated in sex, through sex, and the connection felt impeccable.”

Sex is a powerful communicator and healer in many of Roe’s books, and it is here, too.
Luke’s hopeless love for Marcus has been wearing him down for too long. Being accepted into Marcus AND Liam’s relationship and hearts is something he could have never hoped for, and believing it’s real takes some time.

And that’s where my one niggle lies – It was hard for me to believe that Liam would fall for Luke in such a short time. I could see why Luke might have harboured unconscious feelings for the man (and who wouldn’t, the man’s absolutely dreamy!) but Liam?

Roe’s books are sexually exquisite, with feelings raw, compelling and completely honest.
Absolutely spellbinding!

Roe Horvat is an automatic buy for me, his stories are never disappointing, and always contain that epic ultimate love story. Having these Other Books set in Sweden is a massive bonus for us Scandinavians, but doesn't take away from the story or make the reader feel lost. Luke is lost though, heartbroken from falling too hard for the man he knows he can't have. Marcus is torn apart with the sad broken man who longs for him and might ultimately leave him behind and Liam is just looking to make everyone whole. There is the fear of being too much, of being that Third One. There is love and acceptance, and of course sex. Roe Horvat is the ultimate king of erotica, full on descriptions of scenes that make you reach for the tissues (to wipe your forehead...of course) because Third One does not disappoint on the heat. Read it and weep, with joy and happiness and laughter, because you will find all of it here.

4 Loved-It-Stars!!!! 😍💕 I love Roe's books 🤩, he writes erotica like no one I know. On top of that; a ménage à trois is one of my favorite story tropes, so I was super excited to check this one out.
Marcus and Liam are in a long-term relationship for almost a decade and are very much in love and quite content in their life. But a true test of their love comes when Luke (a dancer in Marcus's dance troupe) falls for Marcus and it seems like Marcus starts to reciprocate those feelings. This is just the background; the actual plot unfolds over one weekend when the emotional turmoil reaches a point of no return for the three.
Needless to say that the steam level in this book is off the charts.. 🔥🔥🔥, there is no slow burn as far as the chemistry between the three is concerned but the emotional connection is slow to ratchet up. The story told from the POV's of all three alternatively is quite clear in the focus, and the focus is Luke. He is the "third" in this and although I loved how he gravitated towards Liam and their building relationship; a little background on how he fell for Marcus and when and how Marcus found out would have been a little enlightening. I felt that a there was a slight disconnect which could not quite be covered by the amazing physical chemistry that they all shared.
Nevertheless, it is still a fabulous book and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid gold standard "erotica" in the MM genre. 👍👍 This series is proving to be quite awesome and I am looking forward to the next one 😍

I started re-reading this because I was not in the mood for starting anything new. Moreover, Roe Horvat's erotica has been my ultimate mood enhancer this year. But, I do not remember why I gave this book 3 stars on my first read-

•Maybe back then, I was a prude who had problems with polygamous relationships.

•Or maybe I would have read too many books of the same theme😒😒 Read SMUT...

Okay, whatever was the reason, I thoroughly enjoyed it this time and now giving it 4💫...
I think I should reread more books by Roe Horvat.😻😻😻

Third one was my most anticipated reading of 2020, even if I'm not confortable with M/M/M books. But see, Roe Horvat wrote this one, so, I was really looking forward to read it, especially after this emotional scene in One in Between.

Like I said, I'm not really confortable when it comes to M/M/M books, and I haven't read many of them. I'm skittish because I always fear that one of them will be left behind, will be the "third one" or the fifth wheel and nothing more. So, with this one, I was out of my confort zone, and guess what ? I was even more out of my confort zone with Third one, because the journey of the three characters was ... tough. It's not a M/M/M just for the thrilling sexy sound of it, it's real, it's hard, it's not easy and it sometimes hurts, but in the end, it's beautiful to see how Luke opens up to his lovers and how each of them share his thoughts, needs and emotions with the others.

I loved Liam, Marcus & Luke's journey, it sometimes felt real and tough, yeah, but the emotions were powerful, and this is exactly what I like (and need) when I read : an emotional connection with the characters. And of course, it was hot, like H.O.T with a capital H ! Those guys surely know how to worship the other ones, oh boy ...

Roe Horvat is one of the best at the erotica's game, because the balance between the hot sex and the deep emotions is just perfect. This is dirty as f*ck and the sexual and emotional chemistry between the 3 men is breathtaking.

So yeah, I was way out of my confort zone with this book but I loved the ride, and as usual I love Roe's writing. I'm greedy, I want more, and I'm already looking forward to read Roe's next book ! ;)

I was supposed to love this one, because c’mon, it’s erotic, poly and gay—definition of me, that’s MY THING, duh. But I didn’t love it. A little disappointed bcs the development of their relationship wasn’t that good. Also, I’m having a beef with Marcus 🙂🔪

Book #4 in this amazing, super sexy series ! I love this author, Roe Horvat.
This story is about a menage relationship in the Netherlands for our threesome, Liam and Marcus, already established, adding dancer, Luke.

Liam, 46, a tall silver fox, businessman

is in a relationship with his love, Marcus, 37,

with dark curly hair and bright green eyes, a choreographer/dancer.

It is beautiful, expressive dancer Luke, 34, blonde and blue-eyed, who draws the attention of both men.

Luke is insecure and ashamed of his desire for both men, and keeps telling himself it is wrong. Luke is facing an injury, and a goal to go to nursing school. There is a cast party, and a random chance to see if he can fit into a threesome.

Vivid descriptions are given, and the writing is beyond lovely. The sexy scenes are tremendously moving, raw, lusty, all-consuming, dirty and passionate.... you'll be fanning yourself.
We see and hear about their insecurities, deep thoughts, needs and wishes. Each man brings something special and different to the menage. They are extra sexy, but the depth goes to their souls, too.

They are breathtaking together.

A magnificent story. Important and insightful.
Highly recommended.
ENJOY !

Liam, Marcus, and Luke.

A sky-high intensity. My iPad melted in my hand. Not just a now and then intense, oh no, every line was an experience of overwhelming consuming intensity.

Liam and Marcus are partners like forever but since years Marcus heart also loves Luke, his beautiful unique dancer.
Luke is shattered, his eyes and heart follow Marcus everywhere, he loves him deeply but can never be with him. Luke is confused, every time his eyes meets Liam’s, Liam’s eyes are burning too. He has to distance himself and quit his job. Liam doesn’t let him, he only holds him closer.

OMG, what a scorching story.
The loooooonging was so incredibly delicious, I hold my breath until I had to breathe before I passed out.

-“He thinks it’s wrong,” Marcus whispered.-

The three of them together was like watching art, gracefully, passionate, sensual, emotional and beautiful art.

“The mundane and necessary things in life, the burdens—they fell on Liam like a pile of bricks.”

Three amazingly beautiful bodies and souls together, worshipping, wowww just wowww.

Highly recommended

*2.5* A decent MMM romance, but missing a vital piece of heart. Horvat usually writes such eloquent erotica, but this story of three men was lacking that deep emotional connection between all the characters.

Luke has been in love with Marcus for years. But Marcus is married to Liam, and even though Marcus might want Luke, Luke refuses to be the Third One - the odd man out, when Marcus and Liam have been together for a decade.

Roe Horvat is such a great writer. The flow of the words, the descriptive writing, it's just so, so very good. And while this series is VERY high on the heat factor - very sensual, erotic writing - there is also so much emotion and descriptions within the writing. Basically, I know I'm going to get a solid story when I read something from Roe.

Throuples can be tough to write - I definitely don't want the third person to EVER feel less than equal or left out. There are few that get this balance right. I think that this book does a pretty good job of handling that balance of emotions and feelings, when there is definitely a strong connection between Luke and Marcus and then Marcus and Liam. Liam is definitely open to welcoming in Luke, and I LOVED the epilogue. I might have wanted something more before that epilogue between Luke and Liam, but overall I enjoyed the three of them together once they did get to that point.

Love the little moments of Adam and Christoffer (shhh, they're kinda my favorites) and look forward to the next book in this series!

I have to say that from this series it’s the weakest book for me.
Not that it was bad it absolutely wasn’t at all! I love the story and likes how the dynamic and relationship between Liam,Luke and Marcus developed but somehow i didn’t really found a good connection towards those characters.
Nevertheless this book had everything, it was angsty, steamy, sweet and really hot (just as all the other book).

Pardon me while I gulp down this giant glass of ice water.

The heat in Third One is off the flipping charts. The three guys are perfectly in sync.

Liam starts off as a difficult one to crack. I loved getting inside his head and watching him fall for Luke.

Luke is a tortured soul. His love for Marcus puts him at odds with Liam. His restraint and longing are what torture him. The build up is worth it when he lets go and allows the two men to welcome him into their arms.

Marcus is the sensitive one. His devotion to Liam, while wholly reciprocated, is complicated by his feelings for Luke.

Horvat never disappoints. The sexy times are fresh and new and add depth to each character. Third One isn't simply erotica; it's a touching love story between three men who fill a void for each other that makes their relationship complete.

Oh the canoodling! I loved this. The feels, the drama, the sex, the romance, the connection, the believability. Whoosh! That was intense. By far the best menage I've read in ages. That's what us old folks from the 80s call a threesome. I had to look up the word polyamorous. Must have missed a memo somewhere in the 90s. 🤣 Relationships between two are tough enough. Three? Do they make a supersized mattress for three adults? Does the man in the middle always sleep in the middle? That would suck monkey balls. If it were three women? Youza. Just wait till menapause. Legitimate questions. Our men are wizened here. Older, more mature with remarkable stamina. It's erotica but it's not all just about the sex, glorious though it is. There is hope for a wonderous future. I'm all about the happy, and happy endings. Can't find a bed big enough? Build your own. Cool beans. 💜

Disclaimer: I've alpha and proof-read this book :)

I've adored both previous books in Those Other Books, for slightly different reasons. I mean it's hard to have same reaction to Tyler&Joel and Christoffer&Adam. And I loved this one too! I've read it several times and I just... It's still hard to express how much I love it without it just getting into *flailing* territory.
I am always careful with erotica because the few times I gave it a try without knowing the author, I often found misogynistic elements in it and I trust Roe not to do that. And I really like his style of writing. It's much less...formulaic? In a way? I'm not sure how exactly to describe it but it just ... works for me.

Anyway, the story itself. I wanted to read the story ever since the scene in Adam Only when he sees Luke and Marcus. And Roe certainly did not disappoint! It was interesting to see what characters do and I love that while Luke was cautious and slightly wary about a polyam relationship, and Liam and Marcus had some experience with it, they never really pushed. Luke always had opportunity to say no, to go away (OK, Marcus doesn't want Luke to overthink but....as someone who starts overthinking everything I can kind of understand his worry). And I loved Liam being all philosoph-y.

Basically, I have read the book several times, and always got sucked into it, so I even had issues noticing mistakes I was supposed to look for when proofing!! I love it and I cannot wait to read more from Roe because he is one of the authors I trust completely <3 <3

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

Third One is the third book in Roe Horvat’s sexy Those Other Books series. While Adam and Christoffer from Adam Only do play a side role here, this story stands alone and you could jump in here without having read the other books.

The story is interesting in that we jump in partway through the journey. Liam and Marcus are an established couple and their connection is very strong and clear. While Marcus and Luke are still dancing around each other, it is also obvious that they have a strong connection and that both men want the other. The only relationship that we really see grow from the beginning is the one between Luke and Liam. Sometimes I think it can be hard to enter a story with so much of the relationship already having occurred off page, but I do feel like it worked here. I think Horvat is successful in really showing those already established connections and I had no problem having missed the early days. I think the real crux here is between Luke and Liam, as their connection really will determine if this whole threesome works. While Liam is confident, Luke is more wary, knowing he is the “third one” to the other couple’s longstanding relationship. So I think there are some really interesting relationship dynamics here as the three men try to see if they can establish a three-way connection that is as strong as any of the individual couples.

I’m a huge fan of this series and Roe’s writing in general, and this was exactly what I hoped. There’s a complicated dynamic between Luke, Marcus, and Liam. They have insecurities to work through, and Luke has his world turned upside down.

This is a shorter book and definitely focuses on the erotica aspect, but it’s Roe so you know you’re going to get deep feelings too. While Marcus already had a deep connection with both men, Luke and Liam are still discovering theirs. They’re all in very different places, but it works.

I loved Luke realizing he could finally stop punishing himself for being in love. And Marcus’s vulnerability and passion. And Liam’s patience and thoughtfulness. And did I love reading a beautiful dancer being spit roasted by his two dudes? YOU BETCHA.
