Daniel Hunt has been many things in his life but a commander in a full out military conflict has never been one of them.
The Voy is a deadly opponent and if humanity is going to have a chance every faction must come together. Galactic Praetorians, Corporate Mercenaries and the woman known as Madam Eternal will have to play all of their cards in order to survive.
Sacrifices will have to be made as one of their own falls in battle. But even in the very darkest of hours, hope exists.

“Mankind’s greatest enemy isn’t aliens or one another; it’s themselves and falling into a comfortable life of mediocrity.” Another brilliant premise, a gripping page turner that kept me reading with nervous tension. Jonathan Yanez’s writing style is so vibrant, making the story realistic and viewed in 3D. Hardcore, gritty, emotive..the storyline grabbed me from the beginning. This is one non-stop, nerve-wrecking, spine-tingling sci fi thriller that holds your attention from start to finish. Exciting development and new tech, intriguing revelations..it has been an intense ride! I highly recommend this series. Looking forward to reading Nemesis!
I’ve really enjoyed reading the interesting and fast paced series. Great premise and characters builds pitted against themselves at times or teaming up to take on new challenges. The bomb the author dropped on the reader at the end has me chomping at bit to read then next book. BRING IT ON!!!
So mean! I'm too tired to start the next book and you drop that???? Yikes! Very eventful book, big war, New tech, New giant alien bugs, some friends lost, others made, questions about the cost of the use of the relic left open ended, mystery alien helpers, with wings from another part of the galaxy, or universe, magic, a very nice surprise about the manor....so much in this one, but that ending!!! Didn't see that coming, I expected a clone....Not!
Summary: Standard YA stuff, a bit too super hero like for my taste. The Voy are done, good place to end, decided not to continue with the rest of the series
Plotline: Jumbled, not sure it was thought through
An excellent finish to this part of the story arc and i liked how the battles were done. Staying tuned for more of these stories although a bit worried there is only 11 so far
Well with the war over with the aliens you would think time will take a break but it doesn’t there’s always something new coming down the road and surprises on top of that can’t wait to the next book
Book 5 of a superb series, onto the next books now. I have really enjoyed all 5 books, and the final sentence in book 5, makes the journey onwards VERY appealing. A brilliant story line with amazing characters, I thoroughly recommend this set of books from this great author.
In this tale we see the results of the incredible war with the Voy! Before everything has settled we learn the possible identity of the man known as Nemesis. Mind Blown!
The final battle for Mars and all of human-kind? Far to many heroes? What's next, fast and furious activities? Is this the end or a new beginning? A solid read.
Where to begin...this was crazy good! I can't believe the...um no. Then there was the alliance...nope. The gang is all here again ready to take on the bad guys and girls and it is epic! Okay, I better just let you read for yourself so I don't ruin anything. As you read you'll visualize everything as if you we're there on the front lines, uninjured of course. There could be some emotional stress, some frustration but much action and a few surprises.
I knew this was going to be good and Yanez does not disappoint. Even the ending had me frozen, starring at the kindle screen in utter disbelief. Good ending by the way. (Segue to the next installment, I should say.) I was blown away! Well done Mr. Yanez!
Annihilation: A Near Future Thriller (Forsaken Mercenary Book 5) - a review by Rosemary Kenny
The Voy are coming and the second 'War of the Worlds' is upon us. Fighting force Pack Protocol led by Daniel Hunt, the so-called Forgotten Mercenary, in Annihilation the 5th amazing military space opera, in the Forgotten Mercenary series by Jonathan Yanez.
All Galactic Praetorians and Corporate Mercenaries - even the mysterious Madam Eternal - and most of all Daniel himself, who has doubts and confusion over his own past, (think Jason Bourne) and must now, somehow, find the strength and confidence to lead Pack Protocol before humankind is wiped from the face of he Earth by their merciless foe!
A fabulous all-action non-stop thriller, Annihilation shows what could be a not too far off thrilling future possibility, as the gap between science and science fiction grows ever smaller. Be sure to get yourself a copy as soon as possible and preferably get the whole series to get the full experience (in order)before book 6 comes out - you'll love them all. More please, Mr Yanez!
Even without the last “holy cow” sentence, this book will grab you and keep you guessing. Daniel Hunt and his expanding Pack Protocol family take care of business in this latest addition to the series. While the human race is saved (for now) in this episode, the last sentence just opens the door to a continuing need for Pack Protocol. As usual with this author, there are times of “edge of your seat”, page turning, holy crip moments but nicely sprinkled with light and human relationship revelations as well as some good laughs and even abject sadness. Keep the tissues handy. We discover more of Daniel’s lost past and look forward to being witness to his adventurous future. I’m hoping this becomes a 15 book series!
Stunning, brilliant, awesome, epic... an excellent read bought vividly to life! Wonderful characters, a truly awesome story all written in fantastic style. Easily the best series I’ve read this year and I’ve read some good stuff.
Thanks, A great story that will left me wanting the next book to be released today. While you wait be sure to check out all the other great reads he has out there.
This book was hard to deal with in the first place, but then the damn mansion and entire grounds become a huge inter stellar space craft? C ‘mom, Man. This is enough of this silliness for me.
