It’s not my fault!

My “Dizzy, time to get the heck out of dodge” senses are well-honed, so can you blame a gal for pounding pavement when a herd of hunks are hot on her trail?

Okay, maybe you can. Maybe it’s your dream to get tackled by a heaping helping of beefcake; hopelessly pinned beneath them, at the mercy of multiple sets of hands and lips and eyes trapping you and demanding attention. Me? I just want to make it through the day without doing too much damage.

Tornados, sinkholes, lightning strikes, explosions, a drain pipe full of bees… I’ve been there though them all. But it’s not my fault!

You see, I’m cursed to always be cursed. Somebody wants to get revenge on you when I’m in town? Well TOUGH LUCK because they’re getting revenge on me instead! Thank you for that weekend of all-foods-are-extra-spicy, unknown stranger. No, that’s okay, person-who-tried-to-make-someone-else-unable-to-wear-clothes-ever-again, I don’t mind a fine breeze between my lady bits. And to you, asshole casserole who tried to literally kill me last week? Well… you can get bent. That’s honestly just rude.

Usually my curse comes with a side of disaster, and after really, really hurting more than one person... well... I’ve been on a never-ending, cross-country, don’t-look-back-just-keep-on-running-away tour for pretty much forever. Sure, it’s lonely, but never setting down roots means never getting caught, or killed. At least I’ve got my furry best friend Aria-don’t know what I’d do without her.

Per usual, my hotel just happened to burn down this morning so it looks like I’d best get to gettin’ while the gettin’s still good, ya get it? Just one itsy-bitsy-teensie-weensie-purple-haired-and-no-bikini problem…. I may have accidentally sort of kind of tied myself to those hunks I mentioned earlier and may or may not literally be unable to go anywhere without at least one of them. Oops! And maybe I sort of kind of like them enough to not want them to get murdered in my superstorm of chaos. Double oops.

Sigh. Friggin’ Tuesdays, am I right?

This is a medium burn paranormal reverse harem romance with explicit scenes of violence, sex (all sex in this book is consensual), and abuse that may be triggering for some. There is mild M/M included in this book and will progress as the story does. It is the first book in a series within an overall world epic, but it does not end in a cliffhanger. Hope happily for now is your jam! Please be aware that this is recommended for readers 18+

I really wanted to love this one. The plot sounded nice and interesting, unfortunately I didn’t. It was okay. The blurb is pretty much how the whole story is written in Dizzy’s POV, which did get a little annoying as she can babble - a lot.

It is multiple POV and I did like the guys and the plot. What I didn’t like was the woe is me Dizzy feeling sorry for herself, the insta love and bonding. The beginning is fast and the relationships are pretty much instant.

It’s long and whereas it does have its moments, it feels too long, especially when it’s not standalone. It felt like a people pleaser Mary Sue. The guys were perfectly diverse, the only thing missing was the gay best friend and it had a tiny m/m kiss. There’s magic and potential but it focused a lot instead on the guys cooking and running a business, whilst coddling Dizzy.

Favourite character was Lin. At this point in time I don’t think I could get through a second book.

Well, I really wanted to like this book and honestly really thought I would. Unfortunately, it felt like a complete miss for me, and for several reasons.

I usually like quirky, funny, rambling heroines, but this didn’t feel like it; it felt like very, very dense stream of consciousness. And it wasn’t something I found funny. I almost quit on the third page when I realized I had to actually concentrate a LOT to manage to visualize the scene, and had to start from the beginning again. I actually skipped half of the narration (doesn’t matter whose point of view) in order to prevent myself from quitting. I don’t like to dnf books, especially short ones, so this was my compromise.

There is absolutely no world-building whatsoever before at least 50%, and even then, it’s not sufficient enough to be considered proper world-building. It took me something like 45% to understand that magic, curses, seers, shifters and everything was pretty common in this world. I mean, at some point, the author throws at us the information that there are schools for training in magic and that’s it. And by the point we get some information from the guys’s point of view, I just didn’t care anymore so I didn’t invest in anything. This is something which actually pissed me off because it felt like lazing writing. Just because it's internal, first-person pov doesn't mean you can dispense with world-building.

I didn’t connect or care for any of the characters, despite the fact that they’re very likeable.
The bad guy/plot twist was really bad. It was extremely anti-climactic and unconvincing.

And finally, the drawings. I can’t say anything about the quality of the illustrations because I suck at drawing and couldn’t do it to save my life. However, I can say that this style is not the kind of art that I enjoy. And it was thrown at my face at every single chapter beginning. It yanked me out of the story every single time and I honestly don’t like having visuals forced on me like this. It would have been so much better to put the illustrations at the end of the book, as a sort of bonus. I mean, we can read the names, we didn’t need the pictures as well to know whose point of view we are reading.

This all sound very harsh but I’m actually quite disappointed because it was really something perfect for me on paper. Unfortunately, the execution was not up to par. The originality of the story is the reason I give it two stars instead of one. I won’t read the next one.

There is sooo much to unpack in this novel. From a Female Heroine who is three shakes shy of sane to a grouping of men with more baggage and issues than their house can hold. Add in the pre-requisite curses, a stalking shadow, psychics and a wily waitress with just the right amount of humor and you have I'm Cursed.... a laugh a minuted, irreverent Reverse Harem that makes no apologies and offers no excuses.

Part of me LOVED this book, while another part of me was too busy shaking my head or trying to keep up to actually form a defensible opinion. Dizzy is a mind blender, meaning, her thought process wrecks your own and leaves you wondering just what you read... and why.

Despite that, or perhaps because of it, this was an engaging read that promises a bright future for Book 2. Happy reading!

I'm Cursed would have been decent if it had been mindful of the length. With so much of the space being used to include all that ramblings instead of the plot which was actually fine, it ends being too flat.

The start was not bad taking time to establish FMC, her curse situation and her sidekick until the guys come into the picture and the storytelling just goes out of the window. There wasn't any effort to give some sense of world building, magic or magical beings just tossed here and there with this complete after thought taste that makes the reading experience bland. Despite this curse scenario or the way the guys are stuck to Dizzy, the magical aspect is never expanded on to get any sense of this world so the scenes where they are practicing magic just falls flat cause we haven't been bothered to be shown this beyond the shallow mentions.

Dizzy was a try too hard character, everything about her was in extremities to make her so unbalanced. Her easy acceptance going with a bunch of stranger dudes or staying with them or being so damn cheery, it's doing nothing to ground this character. The guys weren't any better. Sure they were diverse and had interesting powers but they don't have any personality other than the stereotype slot they have been plucked from and neither do they have any variation when it comes to Dizzy. The insta whatever just gives this same linear tone to their relationship with Dizzy where they are completely gaga over her. There is also a strong sense of YA through the actions of these characters. Only the sex scenes make it 18+ but leaving that, the whole book gives a damn juvenile vibe.

The book content wise doesn't have much. The interesting elements that contribute towards the plot doesn't have the space you would expect for the amount of pages this book has. Majority of this book is spent going from one ramble to another, sure her inner-monologues are funny but anything in extremity is going to have the opposite effect of what was intended. So all of her constant blah blah and trying to sound funny just becomes so tedious. Any potential from the plot is drowned out by this abrasive Dizzy's POV reading.

Literally a disaster

-RH
-No cheating
-magic abilities
-a couple of steamy scenes
-multiple POV

Honestly, I am so confused as to what I just read. The heroine of the story is named Disaster Zone Jones for a reason... she’s definitely a walking disaster. And my God does she RAMBLE in incoherent sentences. I know she’s supposed to be quirky and upbeat, but I found myself getting lost in what was happening and had to reread several parts to have an idea of what was going on. This was supposed to be a funny read, but it was a disaster.

There was absolutely no world building. Does everyone have magical abilities? Is magic known throughout the world? All of the magic going on in this book has absolutely no clarification, or direction.

When we could of been having scenes that helped us better understand the story, instead we get a few pointless scenes of one of the characters describing the 5 star meal he’s making and all of the prep work. Okay but why is this important? It felt like a failed attempt to give the characters a personality.

I understand that this is fantasy, and usually that allows my mind to have some leeway in what is believable and what isn’t, because I know this isn’t supposed to be “real life”. But some of this was just so ridiculous I couldn’t give it any leeway on being believable at all. You literally just meet these men and just go home with them, waltz right up in their house, grab their dog and take off outside the back like you know the layout already and start a game of tag. Again, I know this was supposed to be a fun, quirky book, but it fell flat for me and I only finished it because I was already committed.

It was free through KU so at least I didn’t have to pay for it. And maybe I’m the minority, so pick it up and try it out for yourself and let me know what you thought! You may feel completely different and love Dizzys brand of crazy.

Decided to give this book a shot, as I see this author constantly promoting her book throughout these FB groups that I’m in. The premise of the book sounded fun and refreshing, but I simply cannot stand the FMC. The rambling, the internal dialogue, it’s all way too much. Unfortunately this is going to be another DNF for me, since I can’t stand having to reread pages multiple times just to figure out what’s going on.

Way to much going on at one time, to me it just rambled on and on trying to shove everything in at one time with no flow. Some people may be able to enjoy books that are thrown together on the fly like that but to me it lacked the cohesiveness that my book loving brain needs

Quirky and Adorable

Fun and lighthearted read. The FMC is quirky with a heart of gold and finds herself with a pack as devoted and quirky as her. This is perfect for anyone wanting some romantic comic relief.

this book is so so silly, and i like that type of thing sometimes. like, curse of the gods by jane washington and jasmin eve-level of silly is GREAT. but this book took it too far at times.
the sex scenes described their genitals as "love stick", "fuck cave", "man sausage", "wide tube", "lady melons", etc., and it felt SO incredibly juvenile. call me crazy but i prefer when steamy scenes are actually... steamy? and not written like the internal dialogue of a 13yo boy. i ended up skimming the sex scenes because the chosen terms freaked me out too much.

the heroine was Beyond quirky tbh. she seemed out-of-her-mind manic at times, and it threw me off.

there was little to no world-building.

the illustrations drew me out of the story. e.g. connor's picture makes him look 10yo, and in the book they say that there's no missing he's an adult man, and im like then why is he drawn Like That??? and idk, the drawing style just didn't fit with the overall vibe of the book.

the good things: kieran was a great character. loved when he shifted into a wolf, i would've liked to have seen more of it. the heroine was fun, when she wasn't being over-the-top manic. the villain is actually pretty intriguing because i can imagine he gets redeemed at some point and becomes part of the harem, maybe. the heroes become devoted to the heroine SO fast, and i loved it.

Terrible

Terrible book with puny characters. It’s all about a purple haired woman who seems to act like a child and has a rambling inner thought dialogue of a toddler.

Guys, I think I’m Dizzy. This is pretty much my inner monologue 🤣. This book is so interesting and different from anything I’ve ever read! Can’t wait to catch more adventures of Dizzy and her harem.

PNR, Reverse harem with a slight bit of M/M thrown in for good measure.

Honestly, this book was great. The writing was well done and had great humour in it.
Sadly, I personally couldn’t get into it so I don’t plan on continuing the series but I’m glad I did read the first book. It was nice to find an enjoyable book after a long slump of crap books.

DNF @ 83% and it took me 4 days to force myself to make it that far and then finally call it quits.

I tried, I really tried to get through this book and find something to like about it. However, the reality is that I was just torturing myself. I normally love quirky characters, but Dizzy was next level. At what point does quirky/cute become annoying? Dizzy reaches that point. I found myself, like many others, skimming over a good portion of the writing because it was Dizzy going off on random rants that were extra and unnecessary. I get the author was trying to make her fun, goofy, quirky, unique, etc but I draw the line at having those weird phrases and strange rants at say.....a sex scene. It's not fun or cute when you use childish phrases for adult content (seriously "man sausage" and "pleasure cave" was the biggest mood killer ever).

Dizzy was the biggest problem for this book with a close second being the lack of world building. I kept trying to piece together the world the book created but you aren't given many clues. We don't know if everyone knows about magic, or if it's widely accepted, or if everyone has it or most people have it....or are shifters rare? If not what kind are out there? What different types of witches are there? We know that there's schools for magic but does that mean magic is the everywhere and plain humans are rare? Like, we don't know. We know so little that I couldn't even form a rudimentary basis of the world dizzy lives in.

Then there's the guys. They're....okay. I feel like we got some of their back stories rather quickly and while they were emotional, or suppose to be emotional, we hadn't had an established relationship with them to really -feel- the emotions that these backstories would typically evoke.

While I won't be finishing this series, I would like to read more from this author. They have skill, but perhaps should work on execution.

Disaster, shadows, wolves, alchemist, and more

I really enjoyed this book. The author did a great job at character presentation, the world is built enough for me to understand time and scenery, and the plot stays interesting and moves along smoothly.

I can see this turning into a series easily. There are a lot of questions left unanswered or mysterious left unsolved. Not so many I’m left confused and frustrated, but content that what has happened is satisfying; however, I would definitely like to read more.

The main lady lead Disaster Jones aka Dizzy has a lot of internal monologue that I personally can relate to in her thought process and found a good portion a nice comical element in some of the serious moments.

The 5 hunk of gorgeous men that turn Dizzy’s world 180 and tilt it on the axis. Each having his own uniqueness and being able to balance with the other guys. Caring, compassionate, rough, dominating, they have feelings too, with magical aspects, and just all around decent gents.

Our friendly animal side kicks: Aria and Mr. Stubbs. Aria is a life saver/ Dizzy’s only true family non blood member she has been the one to help keep her ground, alive, and cares for her. I believe she is a complete made up creature that I wouldn’t mind having in the real world with her human, fox, bat, raccoon features & intelligence. Mr. Stubbs is a French bulldog whose too cute with his little personality and roles he plays in the novel.

We do have a dark force that has yet to be conquered and has a lot more layers to discover and find what their real goal is. This is where the next novels will probably dive deeper into.... or so I hope.

There are very delicious MA scenes. So 18+

So for me this was definitely a case of don’t judge the book by its cover.* I likely would have just gone past it if I was scanning through covers, but I saw a recommendation for this in a FB group, and the blurb sounded interesting and different. Thankfully the book lived up to interesting and different. Dizzy is a quirky, clumsy, cursed mess with a core of steel. Her inner dialogue - and verbal dialogue - had me laughing out loud. There is a subtle mystery that is in the background that become more explicit towards the end of the book. I am intrigued by Aria and what she is. The guys were interesting and unique. I really want to learn more about their histories. I liked that while they are insta-attracted the individual relationships develop a bit slower. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this world :)

*Also the cover caricature doesn’t really seem to match the caricature image at the top of each chapter.

Dnf at like 2 chapters. Sorry not sorry. The way it was written was just too confusing for me - the guys were hard to keep track off and we didn’t get any explanation of who what and why so many ppl apparently are into hexing/witchcraft to get revenge? Like are we in the real world? Is it an alternate version of the real world - if so SAY SO - and anyway, the reasoning for the whole ”bound together” trope thing was pretty lacking.

That said, the mc was pretty funny and her sidekick animal was adorable, so maybe it just wasn’t for me and everyone else will love it, or maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood. I think the story had potential but I sadly just can’t stand poorly written stuff, and this was in bad need of an editor (the grammar was ok but, again, the flow was just weird and the guys were hard to keep apart. They also weren’t really to my liking).

So idk, give it a try if you want, but if you’re a perfectionist with high standards like me - bewarned.

Good and unexpected debut

So I picked up this book due to the description and I was between books so I thought eh why not? Well this why not moment turned into a sleepless night as I devoured this book. I absolutely loved Dizzy, Connor, Monty, Lin, Keiran and Zeke. They are all defined by their pasts and in need of each other. This book was funny and I found myself thoroughly enjoying the storyline. Dizzy is a poor soul that seemingly attracts curses and bad luck. Somehow she ends up attached to 5 guys and hilarity ensues. There was a lot of snorts and laugh out loud moments but also plenty of drama, heart warming, heart breaking and sigh moments. I'm intrigued to find out more about these characters and see where the mystery of Dizzy's powers and who is after her takes me. I honestly am excited for book 2 and I found myself a new author to follow.

I just couldn't with this one. DNF at 20%

So I normally love quirky odd characters but Dizzy crossed over into the "trying too hard" side that had me rolling my eyes instead of laughing. Her character came across to me like a 13 year old not a mid/late twenties woman.

The lack of world building also lead to me giving up on this one. There is magic in this world but it isn't made very clear whether or not this is normal or if people with magic try to keep it hidden.

I'm also not a huge fan of insta-love. While I do like fast burn every now and then, in this story Dizzy is literally chased down by the 5 guys then immediately spills her life story to Connor and decides to go home with them. It's just odd.

This one just wasn't my thing.

Despite the absolute craziness of Dizzy in the beginning, this book was surprisingly good and I enjoyed it.

Dizzy, or Disaster Zone Jones, is a woman with bad luck and curses following her everywhere she goes. She can’t stay in one place for too long before disaster strikes and she has to move along. She has accepted this life for herself but things change. Dizzy is bound to five men who happen to experiment with the results of trying to find a soul mate. They’ve found each other and are tied together in strange ways.

I was grateful for the multiple POV’s because I don’t think I would have lasted based off the first chapter in Dizzy’s POV. Sure, she mellows out but I almost quit after that off the walls craziness in the beginning. The guys happen to bring balance to her and soothe the lonely soul she carried for twenty eight years.

Monty is the healer and the leader of their crew, but carries the heavy burden of responsibility and often doesn’t care for himself as he does for the others. Zeke is a mad scientist who has crazy focus on things he finds fascinating, often getting lost in his pursuits and craves the control. Kieran is a wolf shifter who harbors a deep protectiveness for those he keeps in his pack with a fiery rage and agitation. Lin craves the imbalances in life and enjoys the unpredictability of it all, loving to tease and flirt with those to cause a hint of the chaos he craves. Lastly, Connor, the nervous and unconfident member of their crew who suffers from living nightmares and illusions that compel him to escape reality when it’s all too much thanks to his past.

These guys were all such compelling characters and I enjoyed reading through them A LOT. Connor was the sweetest boi and I loved seeing him grow in this book, honestly can’t wait for more time between him, Lin, and Dizzy cause I’m all for it. I didn’t dislike any of these characters and enjoyed seeing them open up to the craziness and ever looking-forward Dizzy.

Sure, it is pretty insta love and relationship, but they’re soulmates. Even though I usually love some development from the characters in their relationship before diving in, I was on board with the craziness anyway since I wasn’t expecting much. It was probably why I wasn’t too bothered by the insta-connection. The sexier scenes were hot and just frequent enough to not be over powering during the plot.

There were some interesting plot developments in the story and I’m excited to see where the plot moves from here. There are still things we don’t know about (like Connor’s connection with Dizzy and his powers, Dizzy’s blessed nature, who these shadow creatures are, etc.) and I’m more than happy to move onto the next book to find out. I think I will try to hold off though because I don’t want to be left with a cliffhanger and no escape to get the third book.

Would recommend for those who like a batshit crazy heroine who is funny and caring without being too annoying and some hot guys in a paranormal/supernatural setting.

As I started to read that book, I was sure I would dnf it. Because for one, the FMC acts like a teenager/child, rambles too much, which often lead to nowhere.

And the pictures are totally not to my taste. Don't get me wrong. Being able to draw is a talent, and I sure wouldn't be able to draw that. I do draw, but totally different style and not as good so far. The pictures here are a sore sight for me, which disturbed me at every start of the chapter and destroyed my image of the characters. The pictures are not in the least flattering for them. So, I wished the pictures were only a bonus at the end of the book, then an actual part throughout.

I really had a hard time, at first. I couldn't get at all into the story. Mostly, because the plot is really slow to built, and it's mostly Dizzy and her ramblings/nonsense. I really have had my fair share of quirky and hilarious FMCs. So, it's not like that I don't like that. It's just, that it gets exhausting after some time.

And the FMC is 28 in that case. It doesn't quite fit with how she acts. You can be quirky and so on, and still be mature.

So, I was totally prepared that I wouldn't finish the book. I can't really say, what changed. Maybe I got used to the rambling, or it was the guys POVs that gave me a break, but I did read the book till the end. Even though, I was aghast about the silly descriptions of the sex scenes and the genitals. It undermined the juvenile/not mature part mentioned before. And it doesn't hurt, that I wanted to know what is the deal with villain/s and the entire situation.

Still, I kind of enjoyed the book. As I said, it has some good parts. And I liked the guys. Subtract the abundance of ramblings, the plot is interesting.

Overall, all the pros and cons, makes it difficult to rate it, though. It's not a bad book/story, or characters. Dizzy is over the top in some way, but still she is likeable. The over the top part is the main reason, why it was hard to read for me at first. So, I would say the book is still good, but not for everyone. See, the ramblings. So, I give it 3.5 stars, round up to 4. Then for me, it was not entirely right. But objectively speaking, it isn't a book that earns a bad rating.

I honestly have no clue how to rate this so 3 stars, I guess?

I almost DNF'd it at the very first chapter because the little character illustrations are... jarring, to say the least. Especially since, presumably, that is Dizzy on the cover, and looks nothing like the Dizzy on the inside. Connor looks about 12, and Lin doesn't look human at all.

The rambling was awful, so it was a huge slog to get through Dizzy's POV chapters, because she talked a LOT without SAYING anything. There were so many scenes that just did not need to happen--tag with the dogs, playing outside with the guys, them walking together and her humming and dancing? I usually love fluff like that but it was just so weird and random.

Then, about 60% of the way through the book, things started to pick up. I thought to myself, you know what, I think I will read book 2. Everything to that point, I was willing to forgive as a first time author trying to find her bearings, because she did tighten it up a little going into the climax.

But then it all fell apart again. So I know the author CAN write tighter and more streamlined and less rambly, she's just deliberately choosing not to for the character, and I don't think I can deal with that for two more books.

And then I read the sex scene. And just... nope. Nope, nope, not reading any more of that. Literally used the words "Cocklesaurus Rex" during a sex scene, so I'm out. One of the men can literally hear all of her thoughts, too, and how he didn't just pull away with a grimace hearing that or burst into laughter and ruin the mood is the biggest mystery in this book.

This book also took me like three weeks to get through because it was just sooo slow in the beginning. I didn't care about any of the characters, and even after finishing, I still don't really care.

Fun, lighthearted, quirky and a little adorable

3 stars, rounding to 3.5

⭐ DNF/didn't like
⭐⭐ It was okay but i won't be looking for any sequels
⭐⭐⭐ It was good, i'll likely be looking for the next book
⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really enjoyed this and i will definitelly be seeking out any and all sequels
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved it so much i'm buying the book on paperback NOW

Overall this is a really lighthearted and fun book. Dizzy has been alone for pretty much her entire life with nothing but her unknown species of a pet as she's a magnet for chaos. This led to an absent mother, not much mention on her father, being kicked out of school, disaster of a first crush and ultimately living on the run since 15 years of age. As you would expect with someone whose been alone their entire life, facing disaster after disaster and no one to talk to but an animal who can't talk back, Dizzy is eccentric, she always wants to see the bright side and is quick to humour to cheer herself up.

POTATO

I'd love to learn more about her mother, and the origin of her "curse". Her mother named her Disaster Zone, so she clearly knew something from the get go. Whose the father? What's the "curse" (or blessing). All questions that i'm sure will be addressed in the future but i kinda want to know now aha Though talking about blessing and curses and the mysteries behind Aria and her idential eyes i feel like her father is going to be like powerful not quite jumping to god/celestial etc but i'd like to know nonetheless

Style not for me

This gave me that fluffy, whimsical reading while high feel. Like that weird anime FLCL. I'm not a fan of the style this story is. I don't even know quite how to describe it except I felt like I was reading a book for children despite the sex n other 18+ content. The characters give off in-the-cloud feelings and are overdramatic n childlike, like, alot!! I like dizzys character except for those two qualities. Its all just way too weird n actually really bores me. Too much of this book is spent on inner thoughts n ridiculousness. I'm not one to hate on fun but this book was too much for me. I want to finish the series to find out about David n his mom, dizzys powers, n aria but honestly I probably won't be delving into anymore of this series for awhile if ever. I ended up skimming quite a bit towards the middle when I realized I didn't much like the style.

I liked the guys but I wasn't fond of the drawings depicted of each of the guys on their POVs. I wasn't a fan look of the art. 🤷 dizzy describes them as hot n she's described as hot but the drawings made them look ugly so it was hard to picture them in my mind.

I enjoyed the sexy times. Those were really well done n hot. I like the ease of their relationships with each other. Its lovely.

Sad that I didn't quite enjoy this book like I wanted cuz I did enjoy quite a few things like the sex, the unique plot, the characters, n the interesting magic.

3 Stars

This book had so many positives, a strange cool story, a great urban magical world, 5 hot guys and 1 cute girl.

My issue with the book is just the pure fact that everything was written out with exclamation points. It was so over the top and I'm really not an OTT person.

I really didn't need to read through half a chapter of her chasing a dog or another half where she plays tag with the guys. I can forgive the insta-love, the convenient plot devices and the lack of world building. I can't forgive the forced quirkiness of characters.

Despite all that I was hooked, I finished the book in 24 hours and was hanging for the sex scenes spoiler of which there were literally 2. For a reverse harem it was very very tame. spoiler.

I won't lie, I didn't enjoy the book too much but I was captured. It was a very different read for me and I loved the pictures to aid in knowing who was who - I never once got characters mixed up or confused.

If you're a comedy person and love a quirky cast this is probably your type of book. Read the preview though - if you cannot get through the preview without getting a little annoyed put it down - this book remains that way through the rest of the narrative.

Also, note that the author is very new and a lot of my issues come from precisely that. She's done a fantastic job for a new author in a niche category

Quirky and Fun

I've seen this cover and read the blurb a few times but never dove in until recently a different author I follow on FB recommended this as a story with "sweet" guys who are "all in" for the fmc. That's kind of the mood I'm in right now, so I decided to go for it, and let me say, this was a pleasant surprise.

I'm not quite sure what to think of this eclectic group of characters but on the whole I am really digging them.

The fmc is quirky, unique, and trying really hard to stay positive when life has handed her quite a few lemons.

The guys are a really eclectic cast. I'm still not quite sure how they all came to be together but they are not the typical "personality blend" that you see in an RH.

The story has some good mystery with a strong side of humor. It's a slow burn but definitely has some nice heat/tension between the characters and a sprinkle of smexy times towards the end. I don't think I've really read anything quite like this before. Definitely worth a read.

Quirky seriousness.

The blurb just did not cover it. I feel like there’s just a bunch of adjectives floating around in my head with no coherent place to go.
Quirky. Silly. Wonderful. Dark. Playful. Serious. Hopeful. Crazy. Heartbreaking. Touching. Fun. Optimistic.
It was like an out of body experience. So much going on, but I felt a bit disconnected from things. Maybe BECAUSE there was so much going on. Like a big swirl of images and feelings that I didn’t have time to process because of the blur of movement.
The characters were complex and interesting. Same with the story. There was way more than just her meeting these guys who wanted her to stop running. I mean, that was really only the start of the story.
Definitely funny. Not pee myself laughing, but lots of snort laughs and giggles. Definitely depth to the story. The world building sneaks up on you, like it just is, and you slowly gather the information rather than having it spelled out to you.
Definitely have a read and see if you can describe it better than me. I will be looking out for more of Dizzy and her guys.

This was.... interesting.

Dizzy was one crazy girl. What kind of mother names their kid “Disaster Zone”? So weird. And her rambling was just off the charts. Like the stuff she thinks is just... wow.

I kind of got the feeling that Dizzy’s “magical” abilities would be rare at first while reading the first part of the book, but she mentions school and being tested and so it seems like being magical is not that of a rare occurrence and instead a fairly “normal” thing. Fine by me, just not what I was expect from reading the summary.

I need to know more about David and his mother. What the heck were/are they doing with Dizzy? I need the story about what really happened when she was 16. Why did David’s mom want her? What was he trying to do? What did his mom do to him after he went into a coma?

So many questions!!

I do like most of the guys though my favorite is probably Connor.

I think I’d rate this a 3.5⭐️ because I did enjoy it but a lot of Dizzy’s rambling thoughts were just too much. I normally jump right into the next book in a series but I may need to read a few books in between for now.
