Geronimo Stilton #41

This book is a very nice book as it had a lot of nature and stuff. the mount Kilimanjaro is a very tall volcano and I never thought they would make it there because they had to go to Swahili and that's only to understand the language they saw so many wonderful and unique types of plants which surprised me as well because I have never heard of these until reading this book. So bruce hyena and geronimo had a competition who will climb the mountain first. but as everyone knows geronimo's too afraid to do anything but it was so sweet that he did climb the mountain for his little and cute nephew benjamin. I rated this book a 4 because he was lying about him climbing mountains just to impress a girl. my favourite character is bruce hyena because he is so adventurous I think there should be book on him. My favourite part was when bruce and geronimo were rolling down from the mountain like snowballs. it reminded me of the book Christmas catastrophe.

Geronimo Stilton: Mighty Mount Kilimanjaro

Geronimo Stilton is a mouse that writes for a newspaper. He goes on a lot of adventures, but it's usually not his idea to go. Sometimes he likes them, and other times he doesn't. At the beginning of this book, Geronimo is working on a puzzle, and gets interrupted by his friend Bruce Hyena. Bruce tells him that they're going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. However, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro wasn't Bruce's idea, it was Geronimo's sister Thea's idea. Thea wants Geronimo to write a diary of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for the newspaper. Geronimo doesn't want to go, because he's scared to take a risk. He tries to tell Thea he doesn't want to go because it's dangerous, but Thea keeps throwing out excuses for him to go. Finally, Geronimo's nephew Benjamin says that he should go because Benjamin wants to hear about it. Geronimo hates nothing more than to disappoint his nephew, so he agrees to go with Bruce.
Before they can go, they have to get their climbing gear and learn about Mount Kilimanjaro. The mountain is very tall and is divided into four parts--the rainforest, the moors, the rocky slopes and the snowcap. Geronimo feels nervous about making it to the top because his body feels weak. Also, he talks to Boris Von Cacklefur before he leaves, and Boris says that if Geronimo happens to die, he'll provide a coffin. Boris is teasing, but Geronimo feels embarrassed and worried that he won't make it to the top and back down alive.
I like this book because I learned about Mount Kilimanjaro. Even though this book is fiction, Mount Kilimanjaro is real. The book has a diagram of the mountain that explains the different climates that change as you go up the mountain. Also, Geronimo and Bruce have Baraka as their tour guide. Baraka explains what's going to happen as they climb up the mountain. When Baraka tells Geronimo and Bruce things about Mount Kilimanjaro, the reader is learning too. I recommend this book and other Geronimo Stilton books, because each adventure helps you learn even though it's fiction.

I enjoyed this book very much and in fact, Geronimo Stilton books are now my guilty pleasure. In this story, Geronimo is forced by his best friend Bruce Hyena to climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. Before the actual climb, Bruce speaks with Boris and tells him that he needs to prepare a coffin and reserve a burial place for Geronimo. I found this to be quite creepy in a children's book. I enjoyed the multiple facts we are fed throughout the book about the mountain and the Swahili language. Of course, Geronimo manages to climb to the top despite having some difficulties because he was in no shape to scale a mountain. The further up you climb, the less Oxygen there is and therefore things have to be taken slowly and steadily all the time. This adventure was made into a movie in which Geronimo was the star. The movie was filmed by the mouse who thinks Geronimo is her fiance although this is not true. In fact, Geronimo falls in love with a very pretty mouse called Makeda and she asks him to scale Mount Everest with her which he does. I found the part where Bruce pretended he had fainted so that Geronimo would have to carry him all the way down the mountain and build some muscle as he was in really bad physical shape. Geronimo only wanted to eat cheese and work on the Rodent's gazette. We also find out that Bruce and Hercule Poirat have a crush on Thea, Geronimo's sister. Overall a good start for the new year.

Nostalgia read!

This was the book that started the dream. Earlier this year, I decided to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and am bringing my dad. I knew that I wanted to do it ever since I was a kid. I remember reading the book 3 Cups of Tea which was also about a mountaineer, but it wasn't the book I was thinking of. I remember singing a song as a kid and I knew the lyrics had the phrase "might Mount Kilimanjaro". I am so glad that I googled it and found this book again.

I've been doing lots of research on what to expect as you summit the mountain, and I have to say Geronimo is quite accurate. The book provides a realistic overview that summarizes many videos I've watched, while also providing basic information about Africa, key phrases to know in Swahili, the biomes you will traverse on your climb, and the animals you can expect to see. The packing list sealed the deal for me to get my yellow fever vaccination.

I also did a deep dive on the author whose pen name is Geronimo Stilton. I don't want to ruin the magic here, but she's an adventurer herself, and I know she's been on this mountain before.

Thank you, Geronimo, for instilling my love of the mountains. I can't wait to be like him, sitting outside my tent, journaling about my travels. I am so excited to make my childhood dream come true.

Will update after I summit!

I picked this up because one of my young library patrons had just brought it back, and he & his grandmother couldn't stop talking about it. The young man wanted more of the Stilton books, and kept talking about this one while I walked him over to the stacks. So yeah...I picked this up on the recommendation of an primary schooler.

He and his grandmother were right - it's cute! And interesting, since there are facts about Mt. Kilimanjaro listed throughout the book. I really did like it, and am glad I spent the hour or so it took me to read it learning about the tallest free-standing peak in Africa!

In this adventure, Geronimo bravely climbs the famous Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. After reading this story, I briefly considered climbing the mountain one day. However, I quickly remembered that my asthma would NOT appreciate the lack of abundant oxygen. But that is what this book does, it makes you believe that anything is possible.
