A Dead Witch. A Dark Elf. An Avenging Wizard

The name’s Corvin Chance, and though I was born with magical abilities, I’d rather be playing my guitar in one of my local pubs than running around flashing my magic.

Until someone murdered my mother that is.

Now I’m slinging magic around the streets of Dublin as I try to find out who killed her. Iolas Tasar—a gangster elf who crowned himself King of the South—is my main suspect. But besides being powerful and sociopathic, he is also part of a murderous cabal that includes a bloodthirsty vampire prince. If I’m going to take him down, I’m going to need help.

Luckily, I have my two best friends: Dalia, a sardonic Demi-Fae who could scare the bejeezus out of Lucifer himself, and Monty, a wise-cracking street magician and YouTube star with a gift for technomancy and conjuring.

Together we will enter a dangerous Dublin underbelly populated by dark elves, vampires, goblins and orcs to discover just who killed my mother and why…if we don’t die ourselves first, that is.

And did I mention the Fae Queen who has also blackmailed Dalia and I into helping her…on pain of death?

Join me and my oddball motley crew as we attempt to solve a murder, exact justice and just maybe…get a pint of the black stuff afterward.

Being Human meets Iron Druid in this gripping urban fantasy action adventure series.

I’m N.P. Martin and I’m a lover of dark fantasy and horror. Writing stories about magick, the occult, monsters and kickass characters has always been my idea of a dream job, and these days, I get to live that dream. I have tried many things in my life (professional martial arts instructor, bouncer, plasterer, salesman…to name a few), but only the writing hat seems to fit. When I’m not writing, I’m spending time with my wife and daughters at our home in Northern Ireland.

What a fantasy story. Corbin prefers his guitar to his magical abilities. When someone murders his mother, there’s no choice but to find out who did this dreadful act. Loved it.

It has decent points.....

The overall idea was good....The best friend could not say two complete sentences without the word "bro"..... The characters were not developed enough for me to care if they survived, except that I wanted his best friend to die so he could stop saying " bro". This book and the next in the series are free to read on Kindle Unlimited, but I wouldn't waste another afternoon reading the next book. I was disappointed...

Needs an editor, stat!

Premise of the story is good, execution not so much. Title really had nothing to do with the book but was mentioned once with no explanation. Best friend speaks with such a heavy accent it makes me struggle to understand and requires multiple rereads of the same dialogue. Delia is the best of the characters. I wanted to like it, but it could've been done so much better.

Serpent Son is Book 1 in the Gods And Mobsters Urban Fantasy Trilogy by N. P. Martin. This is a well written story within a world populated with vampires, fairies, and other scary creatures you would not want to meet on an isolated dimly lit street. The characters are also well developed and interesting. Corvan Chance (MMC) is an interesting and unique individual as well as Dalia and Monty. This is a fast paced, action filled, page turning adventure that has suspense, revenge, and magic that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. I highly recommend this to all urban fantasy fans and other readers who want a superb reading experience. Looking forward to the next book in the trilogy to see what Mr. Martin has in store for these characters. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

I love when I find a new urban fantasy to love, especially since urban fantasy is my absolute favorite genre, and this one is a definite keeper. I love Corvin, and I love the characters that surround him. The action is great, the storyline with room for growth is interesting, and the magic universe is unique. Sometimes, I admit I find Monty’s accent a bit distracting, but only a little bit, and really, that’s my only complaint. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series, and if the trend of greatness continues, I hope there are a multitude of books. I can’t recommend this series enough!

Good read

Corbin Chance is a pretty cool character,he has some really good friends that help him out on a bind, and a love interest that is pretty awesome. The story flowed really well a small hiccup in my part because I didn't catch the transition in the story. The path Corbin is on is going to be interesting to see where it goes, will be find out the real reason for his parents death, will be help out the beautiful elf he is in love with find out why her parents were murdered. On to the next book in the series

So So

To many errors to fully enjoy. A good story but I would start getting into the flow of the story and bam; another error. It was jarring and ruined what could have been a good read.

This is a very good read with magic, violence, revenge and defined main characters. I liked it, but not as much as other offerings by N P Martin. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Wow, wow and wow again. This is another urban fantasy that full of everything I like in these books. Faeries, vampires and things that go bump in the night etc, etc. If you like urban fantasy you’ll love this. Very highly recommended.

An interesting book but lots of unanswered questions. The writing is good but I really did not enjoy reading a book based solely on revenge.

Great start to an exciting new series…

Serpent Son is the first book in a new urban fantasy series by N. P. Martin and, like his other work, is highly imaginative and very fast-paced. The main character in this series is a young man by the name of Corvin Chance who has magical abilities but is more interested in playing his guitar in local pubs than in following his mother’s footsteps into the very political world of supernatural beings. Corvin is forced to make some hard changes as the result of his mother’s murder. When it becomes evident that the authorities are not going to pursue the investigation to Corvin’s satisfaction, he must put his budding music career on hold to find the person or persons responsible and assure that justice is done. Set in Ireland and filled with magic, action, wonderful characters and a great storyline, this tale had my full attention from start to finish. I will be eagerly anticipating the next adventure in this exciting new series.

I love Irish myth and fantasy

And I love it when it’s written into stories of the present even more. This author has done a commendable job of mixing the past and present!
