About the author

David Bateman is a spoken word poet and performance artist based in Toronto. His most recent performances, A Brief History of White Virgins or The Night Freddy Kissed Me, and What’s It Like? were presented in Vancouver, Peterborough, Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto during the winter of 2009. He teaches drama, literature, and creative writing at a variety of Canadian post-secondary institutions.

This is a pretty solid and insightful text that compiles some of the most recent innovations and legal disputes in special education. Though much of the information can be found for free on government websites and grant-based portals (IRIS is a godsend!), the text gives you a simple place to house ideas and to reference when researching hot topics.

Extremely thorough and well balanced text for school. No excitement here, the material is pretty dry but Bateman makes an admirable attempt to make it palatable.
