I thought I had more time. I thought I was going to be different than my mother and her mother before her. I did everything right and still all I have is six months left.
After receiving the news that my short life was almost over, I made the decision to stop what I was doing and open up my notebook to the page of things that I wanted to do and see before I closed my eyes forever.
Jax
I stepped up! I signed my name on the dotted line and bravely served my country. I did and saw things that no man ever should. When my time was up and it was time to go home, it hit me. I was not the same bright eyed and bushy tailed boy who left home. All I wanted was some peace and quiet. I found it at Arrington Farms & Orchards with Old Gus and his apple trees.
When these two broken souls cross paths will they be able to let go of the anger that consumes them and let in the love they both thought they would never have?

This book is hard to rate -it is a heartfelt short story full of unexpected events that keep you on the edge of your seat and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride, but some parts needed more details to help the story flow and give the reader a better understanding of the characters and their pasts.
Autumn has just received some devastating news that has changed her life as she new it. On a whim she packs up her stuff and heads to Connecticut. There she meets Jax and Gus and has the shock of her life with what she finds out. Jax and Autumn have an instant connection but both fight it, until one day it comes to a head and past demons are revealed. Gus is very happy about this, but then tragedy strikes and not long after that tragedy strikes again, leaving the reader in total dismay.

This was a short heart-wrenching story of one woman's bravery in the face of so much pain and sorrow. And how love can find you even when you are not looking.
Autumn takes her new normal and goes to find her peace in an apple orchard. What she finds though is so much more than changing leaves!
I can't tell you anything without telling you everything. So, I will just say if you need a good cry, read this. If you need a story filled with heart, read this!

this was heartbreaking and overwhelming with emotions.. it was cute and sweet.. it was hard and rough.. it made me feel all the feelings and made me wanna throw my kindle haha.. i loved it so much!

Wow. This one was super emotional right from the beginning. There were also plenty of surprises throughout the story. This was a bold story to write, but McMillan did it justice for sure.

You did it again! Warning*** This story is triggering but so worth the read. If cancer is a trigger for you, then I would suggest choosing another story in her body of works. What I have been declaring is this: live until God calls His breath back. I'm not saying it will be easy and that you won't cry but we must live and BE in this moment. I felt like I read a confirmation of my thoughts. Jax, Autumn, Skyye, Gus and Paige will be with me for days to come. I don't even know how people write like this but I thank God for the gift ❤

I'm not crying-this story packs so much emotion in few pages. I believe it's a rare gift to be able to write an exceptional short story but Autumn, Gus, Paige and Jax stole my heart. This story will stay with me for awhile.

Autumn in Connecticut was a sweet but heartbreaking quick read. My heart broke for Autumn and have your tissues ready. I enjoyed reading the story.

It is a very sweet story with good bones, but really needed to be a full novel instead of a novella to accomplish its goals with all of the stuff crammed in.
I didn’t get a chance to feel much of anything for the characters, because there was no development; it just bounced from one unlikely plot twist to the next. Take the twelve twists down to three with some solid development and I likely would have quite enjoyed the story.
Lastly, it’s laden with my pet peeve of the gratuitous use of the exclamation point. Personally, I hate them and cringe when I see them books because there are more skillful ways to accomplish the point, but I know that’s an unfair expectation. But this story had so many I almost stopped reading.
