Informative

This book provides an in-depth view on the inner thoughts of those that I've encountered in both my personal and professional career. I have a better understanding now on the reasons for the inappropriate behavior I've encountered.

Never judge a book by its title. At least this one, I'd say.

This book by Brandon Goleman isn't about how to manipulate others or the art of persuasion. Instead, it's about how to tell when someone is trying to manipulate you and how to protect yourself from those who use these techniques.

It's easy to read and has a lot of definitions. It talks about the inner thoughts of people one meets in their personal and professional lives.

How can you tell what someone's life is like based on their social media feed alone? In this digital age, emotional intelligence is more important than ever. I was hoping to learn more about how to understand some of these complexities and subtleties; however, the ideas discussed are just the tip of the iceberg. It would have been a richer read if there were more examples and case studies to help understand some of these concepts.

It is primarily the author's musings, but some extremely commonplace views are voiced; there was no discovery, only confirmation of how similarly we all feel.

Not nearly as informative or in depth as I thought it would be. Interesting, but not engrossing. Most of what is discussed in this book is just the tip of the iceberg and I was hoping the author would cite and discuss more case studies. Oh well.

This was a fairly easy read and had some helpful information. The title seems a little misleading. I was orginally put off when this book was suggested to me as I was not interested in learning how to manipulate people, but upon further reading I discovered that this book is not a "how to" guide to learning the "art of persuasion" but more of a "this is what dark psychology and manipulation looks like and how to protect yourself from it" kind of book. I did end up taking notes, and highlighting some things to return to later. Overall it reads like a colligate psychological thesis paper. It reminded me of a few programs I attended at MPA over the years. This is a first publishing and could probably use a little editing and layout help from a design perspective but the information in this is still useful to know.

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. This book has the equivalent amount of information as a psych 101 textbook along with misleading statements. What is meant to be an interesting look into dark psych is really just a bogus self-help book that fear-mongers you into believing you are surrounded by emotional predators. The reality is you know if you are being emotionally abused. Do not leave it to this book to tell you you need to get help. Just get help.

It also seems as if there was no editing done on this book. There were grammatical errors about every ten pages. Another issue (albeit small) is the table of contents is at the back. ???

So happy this was 122 pages. I'm sure the author has his best intentions but the amount of contradictory concepts in this make it somewhat dangerous.

Dark Psychology and Manipulation is a compelling and eye-opening read for anyone interested in understanding the hidden forces behind human behavior and how manipulation actually works in real life. Brandon Goleman breaks down complex psychological tactics into simple, digestible concepts, making this book very accessible even for readers new to the topic.

This book is a strong introduction to dark psychology. It’s informative, actionable, and can help you become more mentally resilient in a world where manipulation is often subtle but pervasive. A recommended read for anyone looking to strengthen their psychological defenses.

It’s an easy read and very informative if you have no understanding of the subject at all. It could have been edited better there was gapping in between words that was just random to me. But it was a decent read.

Nothing Unexpected

It was a decent book. The grammar was pretty terrible for a book that's been published and positively reviewed. A combination of pretty common thoughts that have been expressed for a long time.

This book started out well enough, but then offered some questionable material without proper research. It went on to generalize in some alarming ways that could be misleading to those who are not familiar with psychology.
