I am going to write this with minimal spoilers in the short but sweet review.
I am new to discovering Aubrey Wright. And I can tell you that she does a great job at telling us a story, and connecting you to the characters and their struggles. This a dual-POV book, which I am a huge fan of and this is sort of a enemies-to-lovers book, another fave of mine.
The hero and heroine are childhood sweethearts and everything that it implies. At that age things can be taken out of context or can they? You know the drill; they break-up and they move away. Now the years have passed and they are both in back in town. Our hero, Carter, is in town to attend a wedding for his best friend, who also happens to be Jenny’s, our heroines brother.
Jenny still has unresolved feelings, mostly hatred for something she thought Carter did. There are always what-ifs and being around him brings up those questions that has plagued her for years. Carter can’t seem to resist being around her. He defends himself to what happened in the past, he claims his innocence. But can he make her believe him? That’s the million dollar question here.
I am sure by the vague way I am telling you the story-line you can guess what happens. There is a huge amount of chemistry between the two. You can’t be denied that. But there are other variables that make themselves present. All I can say is pick this up and read ASAP!
ONE EXCITING EXPERIENCE!!! Sizzling! Talk about hot, steamy and intense. Aubrey came through again with this pulse racing, smooth flowing, smoldering storyline and engaging plot that brings this little gem alive beautifully. The trials and tribulations, along with a few glitches and scrapes draw you in so deep you feel as though you're right there. Aubrey brings all of your emotions swirling into play so realistically it's easy to get swept away. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it makes a perfect backdrop for this amazing read. Incredible job Aubrey, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
This book was a HUGE disappointment. I’ve read other books by this author, and heard amazing things about her books but this one completely lost me.
Firstly, and probably the most petty problem, I was maybe 5% in and had already seen four grammatical/typo mistakes. Who edited this book?! Also in one of the more intimate scenes, she used the phrase “When we were ready” THREE times within an approximately 8 sentence paragraph. Couldn’t think of a better sentence starter? I have never been so frustrated at an editor in my life. They should be fired.
Second, I figured out the “big surprise” almost immediately. As soon as I was introduced to Peter, I knew he had been the instigator. Clearly, he was the master manipulator. It made me so angry that none of the characters even considered it. They JUST got finished talking to the guy about the secret relationship but then five minutes later they are wondering who could have known? Pure idiocy.
Thirdly, and probably most “controversial”, the cheating scandal really had me fuming. Carter supposedly cheats on the girl but she is sleeping with him within the first day of seeing him again? Whyyyy??? I wouldn’t even make eye contact with him. And Sam knows Carter “cheated” on his sister but still insisted that he be his best man? Realistically, Carter would have been punched in the face a long time ago and there would be NO way the friendship would have continued. Loyalties, man.
But because I’m a glutton for punishment, I pushed forward and finished the book. I’m giving it 1 star, and that’s being generous.
I’m so glad I read some of her other books before this one because I would have missed a couple gems. This was an utter failure.

I am new to discovering Aubrey Wright and I am hooked to her and her books. She does an amazing job telling a story, connecting you to the characters, and hooking you from the very beginning. This was a duo POV told from both Carter and Jenny. 15 years ago Jenny and Carter were together, he was her first. They broke up because Carter cheated on her or so Jenny thought. Sometimes there more to what you see and what you think you saw. Carter says he would never do that. Now Carter is back in town to attend his best friend Sam’s wedding as the best man. Sam just so happens to be Jenny's brother. So he know she will see her and be in close proximity to her throughout the wedding events. He left 15 years prior after the whole Jenny thinks she cheated on him scandal. Jenny also left town too and now is coming back for the wedding. She hates Carter for what he did to her but there is a thin line between love and hate. I don't think she hates him she just very heartbroken and upset that he cheated on her. Or did he? That's the million dollar question here.
Now that they are back in the same town in close proximity and Sam telling Carter to not go near Jenny. He can't resist. He has always said that he never cheated and he still harbors feelings for Jenny. He never really has gotten over her. She saw what she saw or did she? She says she hates him but I don't think that's true. There is love there because she hasn't gotten over him either.
These two have chemistry is spades and Sam telling them to stay away from each other is makes him want to give into temptation. There also the weird Peter Crass and the chick Carter was said to cheat on Jenny with. What is up with them? Will Jenny be willing to risk the chance of being hurt again for the chance of Carter's love? I think this is a good full or lies, deceit and love. Will love conquer all? Or will Jenny be heartbroken again? I loved it and was hooked from the start. One click this one today!
Ten years is certainly a long time to harbor feelings, like these two amazing characters do. Sparks will most definitely fly in this emotionally charged release by the immensely talented Ms. Aubrey Wright.
What I enjoyed the most about this second chance at romance is just how realistically it is designed. You will have no problem in envisioning every scenario, from the love they once had, to what drove them apart and right on through to their hard won (& much deserved) happily ever after. This is a relatable story for readers to lose themselves in for a while. Should you like emotional, second chance romances, then by all means, follow Carter and Jenny and see what went wrong and if they can have their second chance at love together. Carter is there for his best friend's wedding and unfortunately for Jenny it's her Brother. Facing problems head-on is not most peoples strong-suit, however, they're going to have to do it there is no other choice and this is a long time coming. I found this to be one of those releases that draw you in & keep you flipping through the pages so fast, highly engrossed with everything about it. Thank you so much Ms. Wright.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Hate Loving You in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion and I couldn't devour it fast enough. I am positive that you are going to love this incredibly crafted release.
A Loooong Second Chance Love Story. Hate Loving You by author Aubrey Wright started off with an enjoyable premise. Carter comes home after ten years to be the best man in his friend, Sam, wedding. He’s a little apprehensive due to having to see Sam’s sister, Jenny. They dated in high school until he was accused of cheating on her. He claimed he was innocent. As you would expect sparks fly between them. Should they or shouldn’t they? They will only be around each other for a few days. Well there is an HEA so you can guess which way they went. I started off liking this book. However I began skipping paragraphs, skimming chapters then finally went all the way to chapter thirty-eight and it’s only the wedding reception! A total of forty chapters to cover only a few days is just too much manusha for me but if your into getting into the weeds, then this may be the story for you. I am leaving this review for your consideration. Peace.
A second Chance Romance really well written by Aubrey Wright! Told by both Carter’s and Jenny’s POV. A witty and funny romance with intrigue betrayal and lies all rolled into one with a great HEA. Carter is back in Pleasant Hill to attend his best friend Sam’s wedding as best man. He left acrimoniously 15 years prior after being caught cheating on Jenny! Sam is Jenny’s brother and has warned Carter, in no uncertain terms, to keep away from Jenny during the wedding. Jenny hates Carter with a passion and has held the grudge against Carter for all the time he has been away! Their is still a lot of chemistry running hot as ever between these two, but can Carter risk a taboo relationship! There is nothing in Jenny’s life only her career and is too busy to date! What is Peter Crass up to and his subterfuge? Will Jenny be willing to risk being hurt again in love as things don’t always look what they seem? I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy
Jenny and Carter were in love until a huge misunderstanding tears them apart. The book starts 10 years later where, unavoidably, Jenny and Carter are reunited thanks to her brother's wedding. Despite the unresolved issues between them, the chemistry is hot and they are unable to resist each other. Unfortunately though, there are some who will do anything to make sure that Jenny and Carter do not end up back together! This adds a slight element of suspense to the story that was unexpected but added to it. I really enjoyed Jenny and Carter's story - the story flowed, the sex scenes are hot and they eventually find their HEA. I received an advanced copy of this book and I leave this honest review of my own free will.
This is a very entertaining second chance romance. The storyline is well-written with chemistry, drama, miscommunication, meddlers, and betrayal. The main characters are still in love after a breakup in school due to cheating rumors although the heroine doesn't want to be, I thought the h, and her brother were quick to judge someone that was so close to both. The H has always maintained his innocence and is still hopelessly in love. After another bout of drama after being drawn back together, the H's honor is once again in question before being found innocent of all wrongdoing. I found this book to be entertaining and engaging and I liked it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Jenny & Carter dated in high school until she caught him in a compromising position with someone else. Carter swore that it wasn’t what it looked like. No one believed him. Now, ten years later, they and their high school friends go back to their hometown for Jenny’s brother’s wedding. What happens when they finally see each other after almost a decade and her brother/his best friend forbids them from spending time together? Drama, drama, and more drama! I loved the hints of suspense/deviousness! It added another layer to an already good storyline! I would have liked a bit more resolution on that bit of the story though. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I have to give this book only 3 stars and I have a few reasons for doing so. My biggest reason is that it comes very close to another one of this authors books that I have read previously. In fact, I felt that it was so close that I had to go back and make sure that it wasn't the same book. Personally, I don't like that unless there is a sequel of a previous book. Secondly, I felt that it was too long for the story itself. Now having said that, just because I didn't enjoy the book thoroughly doesn't mean that you won't. Please read all the reviews as well as the authors synopsis to see if this could be your next read.
Los Angel television executive Carter Sharpe returns to his hometown of Pleasant Hill for his best friend Sam's wedding and runs into Sam's beautiful sister Jenny, the only girl he's ever loved. Sam has a one night stand with Jenny, but what happens when one night isn't enough? New York lawyer Jenny Griffiths is mad that the handsome Carter won't apologise for cheating on her years ago. Jenny tells Carter they can't keep hooking up and refuses to think that there could be anything more but what happens when she finds out that Carter didn't cheat on her?
Hating Loving You is a drama-filled, emotional and steamy story full of twists and turns

This book will pull at your heart! You will laugh, cry, get annoyed, and love this story! Jenny and Carter are forced together for her brother's wedding ten years after a mistake that tore them apart. They will be forced to confront their past and their emotions at every turn the more they are thrown together. The story is really good even if slow moving at first, but then it picks up and is a page turner. There are twists, and things coming to light that they never would have thought!
This book had a well planned plot and good character development. Could not help but love the leading characters and suspect other characters. But still it took me part of three days to read a book that should have taken one day. You just knew Jenny wasn't going to give Carter up again although she could not seem to put his supposed cheating away! Finally the plot reaches the HEA ending! A good second chance romance. I volunteered this review after reading an ARC.
An amazing fun well written brother best friend, second chance romance. This storyline is told in dual POV in this interesting enjoyable story. It includes lies, ridiculous misunderstanding, deciet, drama, and love. The characters are interesting, relatable, well developed, and have amazing, sizzling hot chemistry. I was addicted page after page to this truly entertaining engaging story told with wonderful realism all the way to a HEA. I honestly and voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
I thought this was a wonderful second chance love story. It was well written. I enjoyed the storyline. It had many twists. The characters had good chemistry. It kept my interest through out the story. I voluntarily read and reviewed advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved this story! Jenny and Carter are intense, I was wondering what was all gonna happen between the two and Sam. It had me on my toes with the back and forth whiplash between Jenny and Carter. I was surprised with the outcome but happy about it!! Definitely recommend reading!
Loved this second chance romance! Carter and Jenny have a past, one she has fought to forget. When she sees him at her brother's wedding all those feelings come back. Are they destined to make the same mistakes again? Can she trust what she sees now, or take him at his word? This is a fast paced, drama filled love story with plenty of ups and downs, and at heart love!!
It has been a lot of years since they dated in high school. He has come back to be in her brother's wedding. She has come back for the wedding and doesn't like seeing him there. She says he cheated in her in high school and he says he didn't. Well things get hot one way and another. Can they work it out? I really enjoyed it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
What can I say. Aubrey knows how to keep us wondering what’s going to happen. Through the entire book you know drama is coming. Just when you think it’s all gonna happen it changes and history repeats itself. Only what history was it. I love stories that everyone thinks they have it all figured out but did they back then or now? Read and see.
High school sweethearts Carter and Jenny were duped into thinking he cheated. She's hated him ever since, never believing his protestations of innocence. So why can't she stay away from him at her brother's wedding? Well-plotted story that tosses in a few twists throughout to keep things interesting. Editing could have been better.
I really hate reading this book. It was so annoying and repetitive that it was hard to read. Should never write a book about a pregnant woman willing drinking. How can you get set up with the same scenario twice. If you are such a great lawyer you should have been able to see through the situation.
Couldn't get enough of Jenny & Carter's story. Loved the characters. It was hot, intense & steamy. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via bookfunnel.
