A city boy born and bred, Dr. Ray Solomon is used to living life large. So naturally fate would decide to pull an ironic twist and land Ray as the resident doc in Westerly, North Carolina—the smallest town on earth. According to the locals, Westerly’s biggest claim to fame is a mysterious and mystical geological anomaly that spells imminent love for anyone who enters the town limits. Sounds like they’ve all been drinking way too much margaritas, but when you live in a one-horse town permanently stuck in a time warp you’ve gotta find something to amuse yourself. And no joke on the time warp thing. Seriously, it’ll be a damn miracle if his car doesn’t transform into a DeLorean. Working at the postage-stamp-sized Veteran’s Hospital is a challenge, but the biggest test of all? Keeping his hands and thoughts to himself when it comes to Fayth Collins—the sexy nurse with soft chocolate eyes and a body made for all things fantasy. Especially his.
Spitfire Fayth isn’t one to swoon over a man with big city charm. Not even one as gorgeous as Ray. No, he’ll have to put in plenty of sweat equity to win her heart. Oh, and one other little thing. She’s a package deal. In other words, Ray has to contend with her entire extended family-- that just happen to live with her. Privacy? Hell, none of her roomies know the meaning of the word. Despite her making it clear they have no future, He refuses to take the hint. Ray would have to be crazy to pursue Fayth with the mountain of obstacles facing him, but he suddenly has an insatiable thirst only she can quench. They say people who are meant to be in Westerly never leaves. Because it looks like Ray is about to be its next victim...
Doctor Ray Solomon is forced to spend a week in Westerly, NC as the VA doctor. He sees it as a podunk town that he wants out of as soon as possible. At least until he sets eyes on nurse Fayth Collins. From that point he is interested most in knowing more about Fayth and what’s under those blue scrubs.
A quirky family and a plan to rebuild the VA hospital have Fayth and Ray spending time together. Which turns into lots of sexy time together too. The family made this story fun. The romance was hot and steamy.
I enjoyed the overall story.
But hoping there is seriously better editing review. I read a paperback version and found so many issues from pages 10 to 60, I would have given up if not for a reading challenge. “Ugh no, not that mental image again!” Nic fell back clutching her check dramatically.” “It’s all our nothing with you, isn’t it?”
‘I think We’re Alone Now,’ read very much like the author had a list that she used to check off things. 1. Quirky nieces and nephews- check 2. Sassy gay bff - check 3. Eccentric small town characters; cue the horny old lady attracted to the hot young doctor - check.
The characters were not relatable. Which is not a necessity, but in this story, they felt very forced and very 2-D. Every last one was a caricature. It read very much like a 90s movie script. Not in a good way. Even each interaction was a slight annoyance. The plot was very much like a romcom - which might have been what the author was going for; but I’ve seen several romcoms and this book wasn’t particularly stand out or did anything new.
Forgettable storyline and caricature characters. I gave it 3 stars because I didn’t want to pluck my eyes out and it did have 1 or 2 actual jokes sprinkled in.
This was funny! I liked the vibe, the light comedy. The family was a trip and so amazing. I want this to be a movie on Netflix. With all the different ethnicities!! Black, white, south asian -- it was great!
This is a fun romantic comedy. Ray and Fayth are great characters and their chemistry is scorching. They didn't have sex until about 60% in, but once they started it was frequent! I absolutely loved Fayth's kooky extended family. I look forward to reading Nic and Abel's book and catching up with the Westerly crew.
I did enjoy this book and I am looking forward to more of the series. Ray is sent to Westerly as a punishment by his boss. While in town he meets Fayth. Both work at the local VA hospital that Ray's boss is trying to close.
I enjoyed the town and all of the characters, but I felt that the relationship between Ray and Fayth moved too quickly. Ray is a city guy. He never wanted to live in a small town. Fayth didn't want to get into a relationship with a city guy. Both seemed to change their minds about this rather quickly.
I loved this romantic comedy! I know I know second romantic comedy in 2 months. 🤦🏽♀️ It was still relevant to our life and experiences. Guys happy love is all over this book....it’s all in there but there are also real issues: family drama, loving hard, taking chances, being a part of a big family, compromise, adaptation and last but by no means least sweet loving ☺️😉Lol. For a light read to make you smile...this is it.
I loved all the quirky characters. While they were sometimes over the top, they were also loveable and all around good people. This was also more than a cute small town meets big city love story. Dahlia also spotlighted the serious issue of treatment of Vets and the nasty politics in healthcare. Well done!
I really enjoyed this book. I was laughing out loud while being enchanted by Ray and Fayth and her whole crazy family. I really wish Westerly was a real town. I would love to visit and stay at Millie's B&B! I couldn't give the book 5 stars due to the typos. A good proofreader would turn this into a 5 star book. Going to read Nic's story now.
The story felt rushed, like the author was eager to get to the climax (no pun intended). I feel like I've read other stories by this author that were written better. There are many typos and grammatical errors, like voice to text was used to write this. There are enough errors to throw off the flow of reading .
This was a great happy read. Dr. Ray comes because he is forced to. But Westerly has other ideas. The ideas that the town is making people fall in love is a great plot line especially when neither person believes in it. Add in Fayth’s family and the humor level increases. I can’t wait to find out what couple will be next. #CMCon26
Loved the characters, the setting, the plot and I loved that it shed a light on the lack of vet services Read it in less than a day and I'll read more but this author.
Thoroughly entertaining from beginning to the end, a town in which it's residents truly care about the well-being of their neighbors a biblical concept we all benefit from seeing more of. Keep up the great work. I look forward to your next book.
Ray and Fayth’s story was so much fun, but it also dealt with some serious issues. It was a great balance, I loved the characters, the side characters, the town, and the story itself. I’m definitely going to be reading more from this author.
This was a great book, I really enjoyed reading this story. Loved the characters and storyline. Ms Rose always brings the excitement and entertainment! I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers you will not be disappointed!
This is my second book by this author, I absolutely love her writing style and cannot wait to read the next instalment.
This story captivated me from the start and kept me entertained throughout. Classy, well developed with a great cast of characters that blended together well. This author is an amazing wordsmith and perfectly detailed each and every emotion with conviction and honesty enabling the reader to become immersed and flow easily through this book. Vividly written, packed with smart dialogue and lots of laugh out loud moments.
I have absolutely no hesitation what so ever in reccomending this novel. Thank you DR 😁
Really enjoyable light and easy summer read. This was so fun. I laughed out loud several times. I was able to suspend disbelief at some details I have more knowledge about and get into the great characters and the rambunctious fun. Fayth and Ray were great and Fayth's family were interesting and priceless. I would really like to read more takes about Westerly.
Loved this story. It started out as a punishment but turned into the best thing ever. Fayth finally finds hers and he finally finds where he belongs. Our Vets deserve top level care and Warvely was the town to make it happen. Love the whole family Nonie and Dada cracked me up. You will laugh hard and blush hard as this nexus love story explodes and brings more people to town. I hope they is a story for Abel and Nic.
Ray, a VA physician with a small town phobia, is sent to a small town as punishment by his superior. Fayth is a nurse at her town's struggling VA medical center, which needs a full-time doctor. She is not impressed when Dr. Ray Solomon appears but Ray is already falling for her and eventually the town.
Although I Think We're Alone Now is a short story , it is a complete story. The characters are well developed and vey likable. The story itself is entertaining and funny . In some places , laugh outloud funny. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good , whacky , and extremely entertaining story.
I loved this story! (Can’t say I loved the book because I noticed editing errors that should have been caught.) The town of Westerly seems to be a miraculous haven for eccentric individuals. I can’t wait to see who the nexus gets next.
This was a fun story with a great cast of quirky characters. You are never in any doubt that there will be an HEA , the love story is sweet. The underlying story of the treatment of veterans is very timely.
