Fun, sun, cocktails and summer love! What more could a girl ask for? This fun filled book whisks you off to Corfu and I dare you not to smile as you read it!

Your best friend feels like her life is unraveling before her eyes. What do you do? You throw her one heck of a divorce party and take off for a sun filled adventure to Corfu. That is what Beth's BFF Heidi does for her when she learns her husband is cheating on her. They are off to party like they are 21 again! Girls trip!!

Their last trip to Corfu when they really were 21, was a fun filled adventure that ended up in romance for Beth. Could they relive their 20's? Is it possible? Well they sure tried! What a fun book this was. I felt like I was right there in Corfu with the sun streaming down on me as I went on their adventures with them both.

I found myself laughing and nodding my head in agreement as the girls discovered things just aren't the same as it was when they are 21. Aware that they just weren't as spontaneous as they were in their 20's they made a conscious effort to change their frame of mind and live life to the fullest. What a girls trip this turned out to be.

Corfu ended up being full of surprises for both girls. This book is a light, fun filled read that is perfect for this time year. It will make you want to get yourself out in the sun and have a little fun yourself!

Favorite Quotes:

‘How long is it since you’ve had a date now?’ … ‘Almost two months,’ Heidi breathed. ‘My lady parts basically think I’ve sold them for transplant.’

‘Repeat after me…I am a woman in my prime.’ ‘Oh, Heidi, have you been going to those motivational hours at the community centre again? Weren’t you put off for good when the guest speaker was someone who had once worked with Harvey Weinstein?’

‘I’m not sorry he isn’t dead.’ She took a breath. There had been times she’d wanted to cut the crotch out of his underpants, but death seemed a little too far, even in her darkest moments, drinking his vintage champagne like it was tap water.

‘I don’t fancy you either. Never have.’ ‘I don’t know whether to feel pleased or strangely curious as to why not.’ ‘Let’s leave it as an enigma…’

All everyone says is that yiayia died of a broken heart. But my mother says she died of shame because she could not bear to live the rest of her life as a widow mourning a man who shared his penis with the entire island.

‘He was at the beach bar in Roda, a late-night drink after practice for a band he is joining.’ She shook her head. ‘He is sixty-five years old. The only band he should be involved in is one they put around your arm to monitor blood pressure.’

My Review:

Greece has been on my bucket list for decades, and although I will confess to being far too lazy to make the arduous trek, I can partially satisfy my curiosity and wanderlust by occasionally picking up a Grecian based tale. One Last Greek Summer was quite the tasty snack with Ms. Baggot’s divinely keen sense for colorful details and vividly described scenes, I could almost hear the bleating of the baby goats, smell the sea air, and taste the delicious gyros. The writing and storylines were engaging, action-packed, cunningly observant, and shot through with crisp levity and whip-smart humor. The vibrant characters were appealing, well-drawn, and more than a bit intriguing - even the villainous ones that I wanted to give a pinch or ten.

This was my maiden voyage with the cleverly amusing Mandy Baggot and I am kicking myself for being tardy to the party as she has a wicked wit and an impressive listing of twenty-four published books. I am tempted to unhook the phone and clear my calendar for a month and just indulge in all things Baggot. Suffice it to say, Ms. Baggot has a newly minted baklava loving fangirl.

Mandy Baggot is one of authors I really like and love to support. I usually always go for her Christmas stories, because she always knows how to awoke Christmas Spirit (I liked her books One Christmas in Paris and One New York Christmas). This time I wanted to read one of her summer reads, since she has so many of them, and let me tell you: she didn’t disappoint!

One Last Greek Summer was exactly what I wanted to read on a beautiful sunny day. It was a relaxing and heart warming story set in wonderful Corfu.
Not only was it full of beautiful descriptions of the island, but it also talked about food and local people.
I was never in Greece myself (of course, I’d like to go there!), and to be honest, before I read this book, I didn’t know there were so many goats living there.
I always imagined Greece as some exotic place, perfect for tourists who love to relax on the beach and eat delicious food, but it never occurred to me to think about animals that live there. I am glad Mandy Baggot opened my eyes, because now Greece sounds even better!

At the end of the book there is a letter from the author in which she tells that she has cottage (or maybe it was house, I can’t remember for sure) in Corfu, so that is the reason why many of her novels are set there. It kind of explains why her descriptions of people and places are so well done, since she’s so familiar with them in the first place.

I loved this second chance romance and it’s characters. I liked almost all of them, with only one exception: Alex’ mother. I get why she acted the way she did, but it still does not make it right. But if I’m being honest, I think Alex has some blame for her behaviour too. In the end, it was his life, and he gave her control.

The only thing that bothered me was how our main characters were 31 and 30 years old, but they talked about their age like they were 45+. I mean, non of them had children or some kind of burden that would make them feel this way. The story is placed in our time, I mean, they were listening Dua Lipa for God sake!
In 2019 people in their thirties who have not started families yet act like people in their twenties acted in 90es. At least when they are on vacation. They don’t feel like all the youth is behind them.
Thirties are new twenties (and forties are new thirties)!
I don’t want to sound rude here, those are just my thoughts (and feelings as it shows).

Anyway, I liked everything else about this novel, and since Mandy Baggot has so many summer novels I will read another one of her stories next month, and I am really looking forward to it!

I also can’t wait for her newest Christmas book One Christmas Star to come out later this year. I just love her festive stories!

If you haven’t, I recommend you to check one of her books, and One Last Greek Summer in an excellent choice!

The first line of the book made me laugh out loud, and I knew then that I was going to be in for a treat. Actually that first line is still making me giggle now!

I do love a Mandy Baggot book, and this was no exception. I had a wonderful new book boyfriend incredibly early on, I was hooked on Alex and his story, while also enjoying what the friends Beth and Heidi were getting up to in Corfu.

We get to see a fair amount of the island, and each chapter is helpfully given a subheading of the exact location we were in. I loved the assorted activities that Heidi roped Beth into as they tried to relive their holiday of 2009 and act like they were 21 again.

Now what can I say about Alex Hallas, sexy Greek DJ, and man of many jobs. Well I could certainly identify with his mother issues, and loved the project he was working on with his cousin. I could also very quickly see why Beth had never really forgotten him, and spent the whole book rooting for them both.

This is a story of second chance love, of having a wonderful two week holiday and emerging from it with a far better idea of who you want to be. I adored every sun filled moment of the book.

This is the perfect garden / poolside / holiday read, depending on where you are sitting in the sun. It is feel good, has some fabulous sub plots and generally is an all around great book. I loved it!

Thank you to Netgalley and Aria for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

*Fun in the Sun*

**3.5 Stars**

This is a very light fun read but there was something missing for me at the start of the book as it was a little slow. We see Beth now 31 newly divorced from a man who she never really loved but, he provided the means to enable her dying mother to have the best treatment. He was not short of money by any means and he is also her boss. His current squeeze was the push she needed to divorce him.

She is now deciding what to do with her life. With the help of her best friend Heidi they decide to go to Greece. They were last there 10 years ago. That holiday was full of fun and adventure and Beth continues to hold a torch for her holiday romance Alex Hallas. For me, once Beth & Heidi leave For Greece is where the book picks up.

Now, Beth’s ex husband is not a man who wants to lose so Beth finds herself in a position of two men wanting her affections. One of them only knows about love from a dictionary description lol 🤣😂🤣

Heidi is over the top but I can see how she brings Beth out of her shell and she wants Beth to fight for what she wants.

I love how Beth rediscovers a part of herself she had forgotten but how will she move forward?…

A beautiful book which gave me the atmosphere of beaches and freedom where friendship and love was all that mattered. Best friends newly divorced Beth and Heidi went on a holiday to Corfu for 2 weeks to take a break from the humdrum of life. 10 years ago, they had had the time of their lives with parties, drinks, and hints of love. To remember the old memories and to make new ones, this book was one heck of an adventure.

My first book by Mandy Baggot, definitely not my last, the story made me long to escape from my life with my girlfriends to recapture beautiful memories. I loved when Beth met her old love Alex and their chemistry sparkled and flamed. Add to the entire mix some misunderstandings and ex husband wanting Beth back, this book was both entertaining and fun.

Mandy's writing brought vivid descriptions of the landscapes of beautiful seashores and a cabin on the beach with nature all around, slow pace of life, happiness abounding. A time for reflection and a time for love. A hammock and a cocktail was all I needed to enjoy this book.

After her divorce to a man she never loved, Beth and her friend Heidi decide to go Corfu Greece on a holiday to rewind and be herself again and reminisce of the holiday they had there ten years previously, when they were young, free and single. Where she met Alex or ‘Lex’ who was Beth first love and only love. When they returned home, she met Charles. Charles the boss of Mountbatten Global and then they start seeing each other and they eventually marry.
When Beth and Heidi get to Corfu their villa is not what they hoped for and what’s worse the celling comes down. So, when someone is called to fix it. Who does Beth meet but Alex from years previously. They start up where they left off. Telling each other of their hopes and dreams. Even Heidi meets someone too, as they enjoy their holiday together like it was 2009.
When I hear of a new book of Mandy Baggot, I get excited. I am normally read crime novels, but Mandy is an exception. This is a great summer read. Not only is beautifully written, funny and a great plot. I love the descriptions of the Greek island it makes want to go there.
Thank you NetGalley and Aria books for a copy of this book

I'm always so, so excited when I know Mandy Baggot is going to release a new summer novel. I absolutely adore them. They make me feel so warm and fuzzy inside and have me longing for a bit of Greek weather and of course Greek food! The cover for Mandy's newest novel, One Last Greek Summer, automatically has you longing for some sun, cocktails and fun! I love the many colourful flowers, the bright blue sky, the traditional white washed buildings and it gives you a bit of an insight as to what the characters look like too. The whole cover is just really inviting and I couldn't wait to get stuck in. This novel was absolutely brilliant and has just made me love Mandy's novels even more.

The novel started out with Beth walking into work to her divorce party, there was a few willy balloons mentioned so it started off with brilliant humour! As the story goes on we learn that Beth has just separated from her husband Charles, who is also the CEO of the company she works for, due to him cheating on her with a co-worker. However, along the way we learn the reasons behind the relationship and they are so sad and emotional! I really feel for Beth and what she had been through, she came across as such a strong woman but also quite vulnerable.

The story develops into best friend Heidi convincing Beth to take a holiday to Corfu, where they had been once before when they were twenty-one. On this particular holiday, Beth met handsome Greek Alex and had quite a relationship with him, Beth had never quite managed to forget him, nor him her. It's all very romantic when they meet by chance and recognise each other straight away but also a little slower than Mandy's other novels. However, I was really loving this storyline due to the addition to Heidi, her character was so bubbly and happy and I loved reading about her time with Beth. It was great to read about some of the country and the food and drink!

Overall, I really, really loved this novel. If I could rate higher than 5 stars then I would! It's really enjoyable, lighthearted and will have you wishing for Summer! Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel via Netgalley, which I have reviewed honestly.

One last greek summer

Visit the locations in the novel

There’s something so welcoming about a Mandy Baggot novel. The covers are always so welcoming but it’s the story that really invites you in and to join in with the characters.

I’ve never been to Greece but I feel I have with this novel and the ones before it. There’s cocktails, ouzo and oh the food! The setting with the sun, sand and romance is stunning and so well evoked, you can literally feel the sand between your toes.

The opening of this novel made me spurt out the drink I had settled down with to read this. I was on a train, it was orange juice. (Don’t like ouzo so this was me pretending I was on a Greek beach)

That was a laugh out loud moment totally worth the bubbles up my nose.

There’s a lot of heartfelt realism in Mandy’s books mixed with humour so you can really relate to the characters. One has been through a divorce, there’s talk of affairs and lots of emotional moments! Beth has not had an easy life.

When friend Heidi suggests a holiday away from it all( we all need a Heidi in our lives) they’re off. Then the fun and romance starts. But nothing’s ever straight forward. Still a lot of fun getting there though. It was like a nice stroll on a hot Greek beach, with a man holding an orange juice posing as an ouzo at the end of it waiting.

I won’t take a sip quite as early on in a Mandy Baggot novel again. But I would dip my toes in the Greek waters next time she writes a book set here.

This is one of those books that gave me a reading high, then a real book hangover when I’d finished it. I was craving for more!
Mandy Baggot is the absolute queen of the summer escape, and this is a perfect summer read.
I absolutely fell in love with this fab book, the characters, and with Corfu itself. It was lovely to escape in my head to Corfu for some sun, and what a fabulous time I had.

Beth’s colleagues, best friend Heidi and Tilly, throw her a divorce party while her boss Charles is away on a business trip. Charles is also her ex. Rich, overbearing and controlling and a bit of a posh boy. He also doesn’t realise what he had in Beth until it was too late.
Heidi realises that they really need to get away. Remembering a holiday they took 10 years ago, when they were 21, she decides it has to be Corfu again and promptly books up a rental property. It’s right on the beach, just perfect. A maintenance issue creates a chance meeting with someone familiar.
Alex Hallas is working for a car rental firm, and a bit of a handyman on the side. He did a spot of DJ-ing back in the day and dreams to be a resident DJ for a summer in Ibiza. He spends a lot of time looking after his ageing mother at their smallholding, where they have many goats. The kids were so cute!
Alex’s Mum is a typical strong-minded Greek lady. He always tries to please her. She constantly pesters him to be a mechanic at his uncle’s garage which is the last thing he wants to do.
Alex and his cousin Elektra have a secret underground business, hoping it will make some money in the future.
Straight away Beth relaxes into holiday mode and realises she’s lost her sparkle and her own identity. She and Heidi embark on some madcap and bold activities to try and relive those feelings from 10 years ago. After all 31 is the new 21!
I just loved the tranquillity of her wandering along the sand collecting beach glass, and I craved the feeling of sand between my toes.
A few twist and turns, an unexpected/unwanted visitor, romance, a beach party, some crazy driving and lots of fun make this a fabulous story.
I loved the scene in the beach cabana! *fans self*
Thanks to Mandy Baggot, Aria and NetGalley for the early review copy in which I give my honest opinion.

Wow what can I say other than Mandy has done it again, another fantastic and wonderful story which has kept me captivated from start to finish. I loved every single moment of it.

I really enjoyed getting to know the characters of Beth and Heidi, seeing the close friendship they have & how they are there for each other, just how a proper friendship should be. As for Beth and Alex, well the first words that come to mind is Hot, and what a connection they have for each other. I loved seeing how their story played out and was routing for them right to the very end, in the hope that they'd end up together. This is certainly no ordinary tale of a love story that's for sure.

Other than friendship and love, there was plenty of other small storylines/events happening throughout the book. One such event was the 'goat' karting which was certainly a hoot, sure did make me giggle. Want to know what I am on about, well you'll just have to read the book yourself, so as to find out ;-).

This author has such a way with words and the detail that goes into the story, that I felt as if I was really there for real, getting to know the characters and experiencing the wonderful moments in Corfu. It was all just so amazingly well written.

Lastly, as a massive fan of Mandy's books, I can highly recommend them. Her books are truly delightful, entertaining, heartfelt and contain a fair few laugh out loud moments too.

I become a fan of this author when reading One Christmas Kiss in Notting Hill. The stories I read of hers just keep getting better with each I read. I like the style, it's easy and fast to read and the characters are likeable.

This story centred around Beth who is 31 and newly divorced. Her ex is Charles and he was the one character I didn't find so likeable. Alex I loved, they were much more suited. Alex was so sweet and a great love interest for Beth. I haven't rooted for a pairing for a while in the books I have read and this book changed that, I was certainty rooting for Alex and Beth. They understood each other even after ten years. I liked how they kept saying It's the new 2009. I think that would be there moto. The story did have it's deeper parts but the humour blended in well too. Heidi was also an excellent character in the story, she was a brilliant best friend role.

Easily 5 Stars, I will be reading more Mandy Baggot stories, I've enjoyed them all so far.

Beth surprised me, she became stronger as the story evolved. Aleko, at first seemed too weak as one of the main characters and I struggled with liking him, but I’m glad I continued with their story.
It’s a story of divorce, escape, past love and finding your place in the world. Throw in some family drama and friendship and it’s a story you will enjoy

This is the first Novel by Mandy Baggot that I have read and it certainly will not be my last. This was set in Corfu and made me want my holiday to come round quicker. Beth Martin, 31 and her best pal Heidi went to fun filled Corfu ten years earlier. That was before Beth had got married. She is now divorced. Heidi takes over and gets Beth to go back to where they had had a fantastic holiday when life was good and carefree. Ten years ago Beth had fallen in love with a Greek guy. Ten years on will they meet again and if so will the flames be rekindled. I got engrossed in the book and the characters danced around my head. Congratulations Mandy for such a fantastic book and one I will remember as I cruise around the Greek Islands. Thank you to Pigeonhole for allowing me to read this novel and write an honest review.

5 Star review of One Last Greek Summer by Mandy Baggot
Mandy Baggot is a relatively new author to me and if this book is anything to go by I will be reading more from her as soon as I can.
Recently divorced Beth Martin returns to Corfu with her best friend Heidi, to reflect and make plans. They return to the land where they partied hard when younger and she again meets Alex, her first love, the man she never really got over.
Can old flames re ignite the sparks from the past and create a bright future together, or are they destined to be apart forever?
I loved the setting of this story and Mandy Baggot really brought Corfu to life for me; I felt I was there, such was her ability to transport me. Beautifully written with a great story line which kept me engaged throughout and often laughing.
I received a copy of this book through the publisher via Netgalley.

In the past few years I have enjoyed Mandy Baggots book that are set in Greece, Corfu to be specific. I think nothing can ever chance my love for Those Summer Nights, but I must say that One Last Greek Summer is pretty high in my favourite list.

Actually I went in with low expectations, because last year I felt a little let down when I read Single for the Summer. But I was still very curious when I saw One Last Greek Summer announced.
In this book we follow Beth, who is recently divorced and is trying to find her place in the world. When her best friend Heidi comes up with the plan to travel to Corfu and re-enact the summer they spend there when they were 21; Beth is at first a little hesitant. She is totally different woman now. But Heidi can be very persuasive and once on the island Beth realises she hasn’t changed that much. She just lost herself and the things she loved. One of the things she loved is the beautiful Greek DJ Alex, who crosses her path one again.

Needless to say is that I absolutely love a Greek setting. Mandy Baggot is so very good at bringing Corfu to life on the pages of her books. The description of the sea and the beaches are spot on. You just have to close your eyes and you are there in Corfu, with the main characters. I could taste the gyro and the wine. I just felt like I had a really short break to Corfu.

But apart from that I loved this story because it contained so much more than just a holiday romance and some beautiful descriptions of Corfu. It is a story about divorce and finding yourself after losing everything that is important to you. I really enjoyed the fact that Beth is one of the strongest main characters I have read about so far in one of Mandy’s books. Even looking at her past and her failed marriage, you see that she always made well thought trough choices and always put her loved ones first. You really saw her growing throughout the story and I really appreciated the fact that we got to see Beth breaking loose from her failed marriage.
Of course there is romance between Beth and her long lost vacation love Alex. I am not spoiling anything by telling you that, because let’s face it, it is even in the synopsis. I wasn’t buying their love story from the get go, because well it clearly was lust at first sight. But when you keep reading this story takes a bit of a different course from earlier books I read by Mandy and I really appreciated that.

The only thing that annoyed me beyond words, where the cringe worthy sex references throughout the book. Readers of my blog know how much I love a hot scene and some sexy talk in my books. But this was just… well cringe worthy like I said. If you can’t do explicit, then just don’t try it. It felt forced. Well, mostly it felt like someone used a dictionary to look up all the synonyms for vagina.
But don’t let that put you of. It’s not an erotic book, so the not so sexy wording isn’t an overall big point. One Last Greek Summer feels like a little trip to Corfu. I read it in the first warm days of the year and after finishing it I felt like I had been on holiday. Relaxed, happy and with a pretty big appetite for gyro.

So hurry to the store! Because you need this book to read over the summer by the pool!

It has been a while since I read a book of this genre and I wasn't disappointed. This was just what I needed to break up the intensity of the thrillers and mysteries I have been leaning towards recently. Beth has just divorced Charles and the book starts hilariously, with a divorce party being planned by her work colleagues. Did I forget to mention Charles is the CEO of the company she works for?

Seeing that Beth needs a break from seeing her ex husband and his new floozy day in day out, her best friend Heidi persuades her to head back to Corfu, ten years after their first holiday there. Ten years after that holiday romance with Alex or 'Lex' as Beth liked to call him.

The characters were well written, Beth seemed lovely although a little bit of a people pleaser. Heidi, her best friend and work colleague, seemed a little intense at times but you could tell that all her actions were borne out of love for her friend. Charles was as you would expect the ex husband to be - a bit of a cad who doesn't realise what he had until it was gone. I really liked Alex - I liked that they encountered him once again in a completely random situation that was totally believable - I was worrying that she would bump into him at places they had been ten years ago but it really was a chance encounter and I appreciated that.

I liked that the author delved into their history and also the development of other characters such as Alex's cousin Elektra and his mother. His mother seems very overbearing but you can tell everything she does is out of love for her son. I did find Alex a little weak to begin with - perhaps because of how overbearing his mum was - but I liked how he took chances and stood up for himself as the book went on.

Overall, this is a great summer read and definitely one I would suggest if going on holiday soon - it is the perfect poolside or beach book. I'll definitely be checking out more from the author.

Than you for Netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved how honest Beth was with herself throughout the story. Even though she knew her motivations, she was finding it difficult to move on. The 2 weeks in Almyros was the perfect place to re-discover her dreams and ambitions. Her friendship with Heidi is brilliant and I knew if anyone could get Beth on the right track, it would be her best friend.

It’s not just Beth who has lost confidence either. With Alex’ narration we find out about his familial responsibilities to his mum Margalo and how hard he works at 3 jobs. But sadly not the job he really wants to do. I was just as intrigued as he was about the money! The answer truly is a Mandy Baggot creation 🙂 I had no idea (didn’t even come close to guessing!) until it was there in front of me. Margalo’s character is perfect for the matriarch role of a Greek family and Alex trying desperately to meet her needs made me feel for him so much.

I love the way Mandy Baggot writes about relationships, including intimacy. There’s a powerful scene that had me wanting to swap places with Beth! Beth and Alex aren’t the only two who gave me all the feels either. I had an emotional attachment to all of the characters and felt bereft when the story ended. It felt as if I had spent the two weeks alongside them experiencing everything they did.

So many moments brought laughter too. Climbing down the ravine, parasailing, quadbiking to name a few.

If you’ve lost your way and are in need of a boost, One Greek Summer will inspire you. You’ll feel refreshed and confident, ready to make changes with enthusiasm.

Highly recommended.

Another heart-grabbing romance from Mandy Baggot and it’s her best one yet!

Author Mandy Baggot might live in the UK, but her heart truly belongs to Greece.

Beth’s friend, Heidi, isn’t going to let her get maudlin when she suddenly finds herself single again. It’s time for a little trip to Greece to ‘rewind and unwind’. Rewinding 10 years, in fact, to discover Greek Adonis, Alex (Lex) still remembers Beth and THAT holiday. And Beth has never forgotten him.

But a lot has happened to them both in the intervening years. Things that aren’t easy to face up to, let alone share.

So many wonderful characters to make you smile and a setting that instantly makes you want to jump on a plane. What more could anyone ask for? A must-read this summer!

A great summer read, full of humour and fun. Two great female leads full of character and a completely loveable male lead. I loved this, very relatable and I’ll admit to being a little sad at the ending because I wanted a little more for them and their future. A great fun read.

This book was not for me. Not going to say anything else because I have been in 'conversation' with the author on Pigeonhole and she seems like a wonderful person. Also, my opinion is very much in the minority and everyone seems to love this book.

This is a lighthearted, sometimes funny romance set on the Greek island of Corfu. Friends Beth and Heidi are needing to get away from it all. They both work for the same company and Beth is newly divorced from Charles who also happens to be the CEO. Their marriage was purely a marriage of convenience and Beth, aged 31 is at a crossroads in her life, unhappy with her career as much as her failed love life. Heidi decides the perfect pick me up will be a holiday in Corfu, with plans to recreate the holiday they both had there ten years ago. Cue then plenty of soul searching, drinking of cocktails and a coincidental meeting with Greek god, Alex whom Beth had a fling with all that time ago. Alex is also at a crossroads in his life wishing he could pursue his dream of becoming a DJ in Ibiza rather than doing various odd jobs and caring for his difficult mother. Will Beth and Alex rekindle their love affair and will they get their happy ever after? Throw Alex’s cousin Elektra into the mix alongside a fledgling kumquat beauty/health product business and a few goats and that is the essence of this novel. Perfect for a holiday read sipping cocktails by the pool this book was easy to read but quite silly and very predictable hence only three stars. This particular market for lighthearted romances is so popular and will appeal to many but for me is the kind of book you will read and very quickly forget.

Mandy really put together the perfect fun Greek summer read with "One Last Greek Summer". I really enjoyed both the characters of Heidi and Beth. Watching Beth evolve as a broken divorcee to a strong woman forging her own way in life was wonderful. Rekindling her relationship with Alex was a complex. evolving romance that I enjoyed. I started out the book giggling like a fool and finished in happy tears so I would say it's definitely a success!

This book has a cracker of an opening paragraph, I was instantly in giggles and knew I’d picked the right book for this week. Serendipitously the sun started to shine in Derbyshire not long after I started so I felt truly at one with the Ionian island.

Mandy Baggot writes the best Greek holiday fiction, always stunning sun, sea, sand and souvlaki! Her previous novels Truly, Madly Greekly, Those Summer Nights and Desperately Seeking Summer are all set in Corfu, Greece and are perfect, sizzling, sunny reads.

Like her previous books, you get a great glimpse of Corfu resorts such as Acharavi, Sidari and Paleokastritsa. The mouthwatering food (I am sure I was drooling at some point), the golden beaches and cloudless skies; you feel immersed in the easy nature of the island, as if you can feel the warm sand between your toes and hold that ice cold glass of Mythos. It’s some years now since I went to Corfu, but there were things I remembered from our stay and it evoked some special memories; each island is different but Greece has a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to return to Kos later this Summer.

Beth was a likeable character, if a little lost at first, understandably in the circumstances. She is consumed by grief for her dear Mum and disentangling herself from a disappointing divorce, so feels about as far away from the Beth of ten years ago, who had an amazing Summer in Corfu, as she can get. Yet, her whacky and loyal friend, Heidi, decides that is exactly what they both need, a step back in time to the Greek Summer before everything got complicated. So off they fly to Corfu for 2 weeks reminiscing and they soon find they rediscover more than just the mountain sunsets, azure skies, and hair-raising road journeys.

I enjoyed myself reading this story, there is character growth, unexpected developments and plenty of chemistry and fun. It is entertaining and leaves you feeling a warm glow inside. There’s always this underlying theme in Mandy’s books of discovering what really matters in life and not giving up on your true calling.

This is a holiday romance read, so you know what to expect, however it shows that two people can have very different lives, priorities and independently chase their dreams without compromising on happiness and I think that’s a fantastic outlook for relationships, and well done to Mandy for writing that ending with balance and realism.

Right, that’s the end of my review, I am off googling Corfu holidays, again!

It was fun to read this absorbing tale just as the Greek summer season is coming to a close as it brought the amazing scenery to life for me just one more time before winter sets in. From Mandy's vivid descriptions I could easily imagine myself sitting in the local kafenion enjoying a coffee as I watched the story unfold. A real Greek treat!

The Blurb :
Beth Martin is 31, newly divorced and wondering just what life holds for her...
Best-friend, Heidi, is adamant that all the answers lie in Corfu – the island where the girls partied away their youth. So cue a trip to a sun-drenched Greek island, ouzo cocktails, a trip down memory lane... and Alex Hallas, the man Beth has never quite forgotten.
As they dance under the stars, the sand beneath their toes, old feelings begin to resurface and Beth might just have a chance to take back her life. If they can learn to love the people they've become...

My Thoughts :
Being as Mandy Baggot is one of my favourite Authors I was delighted to read her next offering, and boy it doesnt disappoint. If I want some escapism, Mandy Baggot is my first port of call. Not to mention her stunning books covers.
We meet Beth Martin, newly divorced and fresh from her divorce party she heads off to Greece with best friend Heidi. Having been there 10 years previous when they were both footloose and fancy free, the girls head back to recreate their time there all those years ago. Back then, Beth met handsome Alex, who was an up and coming DJ, she has never forgotten him or their time together. When they bump into each other again and recognise each other right away, we follow a story of will they, wont they?. Can Beth and Alex pick up from where they left off or was it just a summer romance all those years ago!.
With Heidi trying to get Beth back to her youth and reliving life as they were both 21 again, can they both find some happiness or is the holiday just masking what has gone on back at home.
The idea of Beth and Alex meeting again after 10 years was perfect, it fitted well that we got to learn of the history and connection of the couple, this does happen in life at times and was nice to see Mandy include this in her story.
A story full of love, friendship, hope, funny moments and some new beginnings. Add in sun, sea and sand, and some yummy cocktails all set in beautiful descriptive Corfu.
Mandy has a habit of pulling in her readers to every story she writes and makes the reader feel as though we are right there in the thick of the action, living, smelling and tasting Greek life along with the characters.
Cant wait for more from Mandy Baggot soon.
