Forest Bathing: All you need to know in one concise manual - An introduction to the Japanese art of shinrin-yoku - A practical guide to connecting ... - The perfect antidote to a hectic lifestyle
At times of stress, getting out into the natural environment works wonders: it is widely acknowledged to have a calming effect on us both physically and mentally. In Japan, they have a special term for this: shinrin yoku, ‘forest bathing’. In this book, Sarah Devos and Katriina Kilpi – true forest fanatics – explain just what forest bathing involves.
They provide specific advice on how to approach the concept: exactly where you should be, the best times to choose, all the things you can expect to experience, and so on. All this plus easily achieved hands-on assignments, space in which to note down your observations, and tips on how to integrate the forest even more deeply into your everyday life.
Sarah Devos is schrijver-verzamelaar. Ze is auteur van o.a. Mary, meisje van de zee, Het bosboek, Het zeeboek, Expeditie Natuur en vele andere. Door al haar werk loopt één rode draad: verwondering.
“Some leaves stay green a little longer; others never lose their green colour. It's a metaphor for life: the pace of life we follow differs from person to person. In other words, comparing yourself to others is completely pointless. Just live life at your own pace, not at someone else's.”
I grabbed this book as a fun read and after reading it realised it was a descriptor of what I have done with my life while in the outdoors. If you’re stressed or whatever just get out and walk in the woods. This book is a good read.
Handig boek als je meer wil leren over bosbaden. Met mooie oefeningen per seizoen. Ideaal boek om te starten. Katriina zelf ook al ontmoet tijdens een workshop en zij is zo een inspiratie.
